Comment: I purchased a package of Hostess Ding Dongs approximately 2 weeks ago. Each day I put a snack in my husbands lunch. Today, I pulled out the last snack for myself it felt a bit strange and upon opening it, I found that the snack cake was cut in half and put packaged as such )( this makes me very nervous about the quality control of the packaging of your products especially with tampering. I am contemplating discarding the other hostess snack products I currently have.

I hope this information will allow better quality control procedures. I would like to have some sort of reassurance that I do not need to throw out the remaining Hostess products I have along with purchasing additional products in the future. Is there a web site for IBC that has this?

I appreciate your attention in this matter.

  Comment: To Whom It May Concern;
I have been purchasing Interstate Brands Wonder Bread items for several years. Within the past year, I have been buying Beefsteak Light Soft Bread and have been very disappointed on several occasions. We receive loafs where there are large air holes in the slices. When we have attempted to return them to the stores, they all state there is nothing they can do, & that its the manufacturers Quality Control (Lack of it) problem that they have no control over. I can only hope this will change, because we do enjoy the bread at our Senior Center, but may have to change brands if this continues.

I live in Cheektowaga (just outside Buffalo) NY and was amazed that my coworkers have never heard of either of these. I am trying to locate a place where I can buy them around here as I also want to send my sister a few boxes of Devil Dogs for Christmas. Thank you for all your help

Comment: First of all, I am extremely sorry this took so long but I have had homework "coming out of my ears".
But, on September 11th I went to the snack machine at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI in between my busy schedule and got me a Hostess Snowball and pop to keep me satisfied until I could go home and eat dinner, and much to my surprise it had a large amout of mold on each snowball. Now I didnt realize that they had mold on them until I had already consumed one. I then looked at the experation date and it said September 11th. But what I am trying to figure out is why did it have large amounts of mold on it that soon. I was very dissappointed and I dont know if their is a problem or what but I do know that I will be leary before I buy another Hostess product again.

As one of the newer employees in the Maintainence dept. I cannot help but be overwhelmed by the incompetence and the sheer number of supervisors in it takes to run this crew or 45 mechanics. on a typical day one third to a full one half of the maintainence personell at this plant is composed of supervision. In these days of razor thin margins , it boggles the mind that the bean counters of this company allow this. Is this why we cannot afford even the minimal amount of parts required to run this operation? It might not be so bad if this ARMY of supervision actually had something to contribute other than HARASS the men incessantly about petty issues. Chief Banchee clearly holds those around him in complete contempt. This operation isnt about producing quality baked goods at a profit for the stock holders , this is about ego and vanity. Somebody who is out of the "good ole boy" loop needs to audit the situation here. You wont have to look hard. God bless the men who have any time invested in this company , It will be a long hard road. Supervision will see to that.

Comment: I recently stopped at a convenience store and bought a Hostess Apple Pie. After I left I opened it and started to eat it and found about 3 pieces of apple in the whole pie, the rest was empty. I love your apple pies and by them regularly for a morning pick me up. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I was on the road so I didn?t have time to turn around and take it back to the store. I don?t know how you measure your filling but somebody needs to start checking things a little better.

Comment: I think your new apple spice cupcakes are terrible. I looked for a phone number which I could call to tell you that under your quality guarantee I would certainly llike to have my money back....and you can have the cupcakes back. No one in my house will eat them. They are deadly sweet with a piece of cardboard for icing. The creamy filling which is so delightful in your other products does not make up for the rest of this cupcake.
And....why did you ever quit making the Twinkie with a banana flavor?

Just wanted to let you know, maybe I got some from a bad batch, maybe they are all like this, I do not know, what I do know is that I was not satisfied with what I received in these pies. In the last month 3 African-American employees retired, we are now down to 8 African-American workers out of 300. This is from from a high of 187. Hostess is opening a new bakery in Las Vegas and they are not going to hire any African-American workers. What are the names of the lawyers in San Francisco, it seems now is the time to bring them in?

Comment: I purchased a loaf of Merita bread from Food Lion in CLinton, TN., on 12 Nov, 2002. The expiration date is 23 Nov, 2002. When I got home and opened the bread to make a sandwich, I found that there is a large "matter" baked into the bread which appears to possibly be some sort of an animal, maybe the skin and hair of a rodent! Myself and my family are extremely upset. I have pictures of this "matter" and still have the loaf of bread. I would like for you to contact me and let me know how your company intends to handle this issue! You may contact me via e-mail at moskol@aol.com. I would like to have your input before I make a decision on whether to approach the media or not.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Comment: I just purchased a bag of Chocolate Chip mini muffins from a vending
machine. The sale by date is Dec 05 with a code of 294062D7. I got to the
last muffin and there was something hard in the muffin. I have no idea what
it was, but it was disgusting to bite into!! It was about 1/2 inch long
with a medium thickness. It seems like a piece of plastic, but I am not
sure. It was enough to make my stomach role!
I was very disappointed. Most importantly, I was disappointed that there
was no information on the packaging to direct customer concerns! I had to
search on the internet to come up with this email address.

Comment: I recently bought a loaf of Wonder Bread, l lb 6 oz size. It is usually fresh and my family enjoys it. Yesterday, however, we opened it up to see that the bottom portion of the bread (most of the loaf) was separated into almost 2 parts and it was stale tasting. We were pretty disappointed. I wanted to pass this along since bread is such a large part of our lives and it means a lot to have a fresh tasting sandwich.

Comment: I have often bought mini muffins as well as numerous other hostess products but the other day when I stopped in a hurry before work and bought a package of the banana walnut mini muffins I bite right into something that was very hard . It looks to be something like a piece of a shell. The muffins were wonderful as usual but needless to say I need to have a tooth repaired now because of this.
I am writing in regards to make everyone aware of this problem so that they can make sure that no more walnut shells or whatever it was gets into other muffins.
I have the package and the hard piece in case anyone would needs it for batch information.

Comment: Approximately 5 minutes ago I bit into one of your "Dunkin Stix". I can still taste the waxy film on the roof of my mouth. I had to discard the remaining Stix, I can hardly beleive that you sell a product that tastes so poorly. I have heard similar reactions from numerous people. My suggestion to improve the product would be to stop selling them all together or atleast taste test the product first. What would happen if a child or a "little old lady" ever got their hands on one of these "Dunkin Stix"? Also I noticed that you do not provide your phone number on the packaging...smart, your phones would ring off the hook!

I enjoy the product very much. However today, the package I bought contained only 2 muffins instead of the usual 6.

Comment: Last week I purchased a box of Hostess Cupcakes at the Wal-Mart in St. Charles Missouri. The code on the box under Last Sale Date is NOV 04 3B07 290. In this box were two cupcakes where the wrappers were not sealed, leaving stale and possibly tampered cupcakes, and also a cupcake not in a wrapper (only about a half a cake but crimped closed on the edge). In all my years of purchasing Hostess products (which I recall was with Continental Baking), I have never received a bad box like this one. I would like a refund on this product but there is no contact number on the package.

Comment: I am upset. I really like Wonder light bread and have been buying it as my husband needs to be on a diet. However, I get very angry as the "date to use by" is always stamped on the part of the packaging that is dark and can not be seen. This has happened almost 90% of the time so I have to think that whoever does it expects that the consumer will say......on forget it and buy it anyway. I think this is very unfair and feel the stamp should be put on a portion of the label where it can be seen. I refuse to buy it if i cannot see the date.

Comment: Almost everyday I purchase a package of Hostess Mini Blueberry Muffins here at work.

I enjoy the product very much. However today, the package I bought contained only 2 muffins instead of the usual 6.

The package # was 268062A1 and the sell by date is Nov 23.

I had to purchase an additional package which did contain 6 muffins. I reported it to the vending company and they suggested I contact IBC. How does one contact IBC, they seem to be hiding.
