Comment: To *A* from KC asking about the few complaints from the office personell or outlet store, I believe it is because this site is popular only with a few select employees. That is why I keep asking IBC to have it removed before everyone finds out about it. I believe they are going to take it from the current owners in a few weeks. We should all email IBC to hurry and get this site down. |

I am looking for a cake that was produced around 30 or more years ago. It was an oval, white cake with a hard chocolate icing. It had 2 pecans on the top. It was a one serving cake. I think hostess made it but I am not sure. Please let me know what it was, if it is still avaliable or if I can purchase it anywhere. if it is not still made you would greatly benefit by reintroducing it to the consumer. Please let me know what you find out.

I was caught off guard this morning. I took a bite of a new pack of Ring Dings I purchases about a month ago. It had a funny metallic smell to it. Unfortunatley I was on my computer checking my emails and took a second bite. When I smelt it again and took the time to look down. Well the half still in my hands was a little hairy. Not the best start to a day. When I finally stopped rinsing my mouth, I went to look at the last pack in the box which was sealed and noticed they were also hairy. I only purchased them in the beginning of November when I started my new job. The date on the box says Use by OCT.23. I assumed it was 2004. |

Comment: Just got this months Money magazine and IBC is not one of the companies to watch in "2004". Can we get SOAR working on this instead of posting jobs for another layer of misguided management.
You would not believe the questions this layer is asking, stuff that they should know before even asking. I really can't believe it and this is the group thats going to guide us to prosperity. |

In "stumbling" across this web site and being disappointed in the number of complaints being expressed, are you concerned that since, in your words, this seems to be so widespread, there might possibly be some truth to some of the views expressed? I for one am concerned primarily in the large number of CONSUMER complaints being reported. There is little doubt that most of these are legitimate and they are not be handled satisfactorily and these are customers lost.
The fact that there are so many consumers attempting to find someone to complain to unsuccessfully is, I believe, a symptom of serious problems within this company.
I wouldn't be so quick to wholesale dismiss so many dissatisfied people.
As far as looking for others in joining a lawsuit, it is sometimes necessary to show a pattern of behavior. I was asked to join a suit concerning illegal insider trading against officers of this company. Do you think this suit is justified or is it just coincidence that so many insider stock trades were made just prior to the stock collapse after first painting a rosy picture for investors.
We'll see if "WE WILL SOAR IN 04" doesn't become "WE WILL DIVE IN 05" |

Comment: I happened to stumble across your website, when looking for the "REAL" home of I.B.C. It is highly disappointing to see such a widespread negative opinion of the company, by it's employees in the Central and Eastern division, as well as Southern California. It was even more disappointing to read some of the comments requesting others to essentially jump on the "discrimination bandwagon." For those employees who have requested such, ( including one who obviously forgot our plant is located in Lakewood, not Tacoma, Wa. ) if you have legitimately been wronged by the company, why would you need to search out other plaintiffs for a lawsuit? I would think if your evidence was substantiated enough to warrant such a decision on your behalf, you could go it alone. Have you even attempted to resolve your issues with management before issuing your lawyer a retainer fee? Myself and many of my fellow employees feel actions such as these are the reason this company is struggling as much as we are. This is also leading to a workplace with moral issues, and dissention amongst it's employees. I.B.C. as a whole will obviously be undergoing some major changes as they go through the "Project S.O.A.R. Program." Can anyone who has responded on this website say that what we are currently doing as a company is working? I think a change is definately in order, and long overdue. Obviously we are all awaiting how, or if, these changes will affect our livelihood. Maybe it's time to stop the bitching, and start voicing opinions towards to making a difference in the company, and our livelihood. |

I think this latest idea from the SOARS people is going to really turn this Co. around.Gimme a break,if we were doing good I could see implementing a new time card system. But we're not and this Co. needs a hell of alot better ideas than this to get us back in the black.Looks like IBC just threw away $50 million. This SOARS program was a bad idea from the start. Just give your sales force the tools and let them go at it.See, there's an idea and I won't charge you anything for it. |

But they are missing a good opportunity because this site is listed #1 in all the search engines, all they have to do is give the owners a couple hundred dollars and they will probably take it. then they can replace this site with theirs and they will be listed first. does that make too much sense? |

Great to see this website being put to such good use! I worked for the company years ago, thought ITT was bad until Ralston Purina came along and screwed up even worse. Now IBC has managed to outdo even RPs mediocre mismanagement and will take CBC+IBC down for good if given the chance. I've beaten CBC before then left for other work- sounds like I need to come back and help you folks clean house! |

I am concerned about the quality of the product I purchased so that you can look into this batch and/or add to other complaints.
I have used and loved your brand of products my entire life and I am 57 years old. Today I opened a box of Hostess Powdered Donettes (Bite Sized Donuts) with a
Last Sale Date of 11/26 Nov.29, 68312 08:28 $2.79 Bar Code 0 45000 00620 1
Purchased on 11/23/03.
One bite and I knew something was wrong or different. I can't pinpoint the exact flavor but it seemed to have a strong chemical type order/flavor. I thought it may be my "old" taste buds but when my year old granddaughter arrived for breakfast, she took one bite and told me that she did not like the donettes. Neither of us got sick and that was about 2 hours ago nor did my dog that finished off the remainder of our uneaten donut. |

I am writing to advise you that I purchased a pack of your blueberry
mini-muffins for my 8 year old son today, November 26, 2003. He was eating
the muffins, when he advised me that they were expired. I looked at the
package and the expiration date is Jan 02. These muffins should have been
removed from the shelf well over one year ago. The number that is listed
under the expiration date is 322062A3. I wanted to make you aware of this
problem, because it seems that someone is not performing their job
correctly.
Thank you for listening.

Comment: RE: returns,I think returns can be cut by letting salesmen order themselves. I see management plusing product every day. they give more product that doesnt sell and less that does.wouldnt it be smarter to give more product that does sell....then doesnt, for example a store that sells more twinkees should get more twinkees not zingers. if you walk in a store and there are 12 cases of zingers and no twinkees why put 12 cases of zingers and 12 twinkees it should be 4 or 5 cases of zingers and 24 twinkees. thats just 1 example.I also feel sales men know best what to order not management. they are out there every day..also I feel emloyees will do their best if treated with respect. if something is not done to expectations instead of being so fast to repremand tell them you are doing a great job BUT i need it done this way. If the employees like their boss they will do better.I have plenty of ideas that would make this company efficent as i have worked in thrift stores shipping and have helped sales from time to time.......I also feel our relationships with our customers is very important how can you expect a store to help us out when they cant stand to talk to management. if you have any questions about any of this letter feel free to contact me @315 7326692 or se3b@aol.com |

To whom it may concern,___________
First let me say it would have been thoughtful of your company to
publish a phone number to contact your company!_________________________________
We purchased a box of Hostess Lights Low Fat Twinkies from Wal-mart on
Nov. 20th. It was a box of 10. Like we do often!! The fourth one I got
out of the box appeared to have a little lighter color, but I did not
think anything about it until I opened it. I noticed a smell, but still
did not think much about it until I got it in my mouth. Wow! the taste
was VERY strong and tasted rotten! I spit it out immediately and looked
closer, the bottom of the twinkie was wet in the bottom of the plastic.
I checked the rest in the box and they all appear to be fine. I then
tried to find a phone number to contact your company but there is not
one on your product...that does not seem right?? Anyway while looking
the box over I noticed the "Sell By Nov 17" stamped on the box. Could
it be that the product would rotten, or does that just mean they would
not be considered fresh after that date? The way things are in this
world I am not sure what was in the twinkie.

This Country White Grain bread you have come up with is awful. I bought a loaf of this bread a few days ago, and it was without a doubt, the worst bread I ever tasted. I could not eat it, so I gave it to the birds. We have bought, eaten, and enjoyed Merita Old Fashioned bread for years, but I will never again waste my money on the dry, crumbling, tasteless Country White Grain. You should remove this stuff from the shelves before people get the impression that all Merita bread is that bad.

Comment: To the HR person who "knows" the HR manager. If you truly "know" then you also "know" what is common knowledge amongst most employees. That is, the primary function of the HR depts has become simply attempting to cover the backsides of any and all management decrees. Secondary is the legal (not necessarily ethical) circumventing of legitimately negotiated labor contracts by sometimes foolishly trusting employees. Last becomes compassionate concern for employees needs. HR needs to look inside to see what they have become. They are not trusted by most employees and deservedly so. |

Comment: To Anonymous from Davenport Iowa, HR. There are no checks and balances in Los Angeles HR. This HR pretty much does what ever it wants. Someone needs to remind them that HR stands for HUMAN RESOURCES. And I shouldn't have to explain what that means but Ms. Gonzales doesn't have a clue. And she doesn't have a clock or a calendar. You can't even get the LA HR group to answer their phones. You have to leave a message and hope they find your issue important enough to get back to you. Otherwise the only time you see them is when they try to fire you but can't because you have the documentation that they didn't bother to follow up on. Here it's HNR, human no resource. |

Comment: To the disgruntled Davenport employee: I know your HR Manager and you have one of the best. Sometimes things don't happen the way, or as quickly as one might like and it may seem like nothing is getting done, but trust in the process.
Yes, we (HR people) are checked and double checked and sometimes no matter what we do, it will make someone unhappy. Why don't you go to your human resources department and see what you can do to contribute to the growth of your plant? Try it! You may feel better about yourself. Just a thought! |

Comment: I wish someone in St. Louis would look at the management team at the Davenport Plant. Look at how they administer discipline; what happened to progressive discipline. The first thing any one want to do is suspend and then set the suspension up so the next infraction is an automatic termination. Look at the consistency of discipline for like infractions and you will not find any. The managment team keeps employees sitting on the edge with no information for an long period of time. Who double checks that Human Resources and Management handles discipline consistently. Someone should look at it. This is what gives a company a bad name. |

To the person who commented on the Creve Cour thriftstore. If you are calling the store on the phone how would you know what the store looks like and if unless you are with the company how would you know how the store is being run. The manager can'tonly not run the store she can't keep help for very long. From what my grandaughter said when she worked there the manager and her daughter are gone from the store when they are to be working. Why does the company let them get by with this.I would love to get a job where I could leave and still get paid. According to my grandaughter this went on all the time. What a joke this store has become. Someone from the top should check this store out totally. When you have three people in the daytime working but yet sit in the office talking or the manager and her daughter arguing or cussing at each other in front of the customers and the shelves are not stocked and you say she can run a thrift store. I used to go into this store twice a week so believe me I know how this store is ran. It is a joke.
From a concerned Grand mother and X customer of the thrift store. |

This comment is about Merita Swirl Cinnamon Raisin Bread. I love this bread and eat it all the time. The last I purchased was so dry it would choke you. I threw it away because it was not worth going back to the grocery store. The reason it really made me mad was because this was one of the last things I planned to eat before going on my liquid diet for medical tests. Otherwise I love your bread and if the bread is fresh each day how could this super dry bread be on the shelf. |

Hey loyal employee- it is FRIDAY and the site is still up. I thought you said that it would be shut down by Tuesday of this past week. If you are implying that IBC management will be the ones to shut it down, then you better pull up a chair and wait. Afterall- it is going to take them over a year to implement a direct deposit program, so tackling something of this nature (removing this site) may be a little out of reach for them. |

The district manager told the supervisor to shut it down. The supervisor told the the route man to shut it down. The route man called HR. HR said they would look into it and get back to the route man. This was 4 years ago. The route man called to see what progress had been made but no one was answering the phones so he left a message |

I purchased a package of Wonder English Muffins on November 14, 2003, at Wal-Mart in Springfield, Missouri. The expiration date on the package was November 21, 2003. I took one out of the package the day I bought them, and there was a small spot of mold on it. So I cut the spot out, toasted it, and ate it. Nothing happened. I went to get one out of the package today (11/21), and every single one of the remaining five were moldy. I don't expect a product with an expiration date to go bad long before that date. I paid $1.84 for these muffins, which, with tax, comes to almost $2.00. That's not a lot of money, but I resent spending it for something with 6 in a package and only being able to use 1, and even that one was bad.
Just wanted you to know that I will NEVER buy a Wonder Bread product again. You have totally lost my business and that of all my family and friends. |

A sign of a good employee is one that is able to see the other side when it is pointed out to him in a fair and non hostile environment. Non hostile is what HR should be. Now that you have spoken with your HR dept, are your issues being addressed or did they just listen to you? |

Comment: Hey Steve Lemon Lover, don't blame the driver, blame the company, which by the way is called IBC not IBS. Who's to say that the driver didn't put out lemon pies and they were purchased before you got there? The route drivers would happily put out what sells but when they have to deal with the bakeries plussing them with crap that doesn't sell, the priority changes to get rid of this stuff even though we know we will be picking it up in 2 weeks. Write the company a letter (snail mail) and tell them how you feel. I'm sure you will get the same treatment that the employees get.

Do you still make Dutch Hearth white diet bread? If so, where can I get it? I bought it years ago and then the grocery store quit carrying it and started carrying Earth Grains which I don't like.

I would like to send Hostess twinkies and cupcakes to soldiers overseas.
I have found sell by dates to be the end of Nov. or beginning of Dec..
How long are these products fresh after the sell by date. Our goal for
mailing the packages is November 25. Will they still be fresh on
December 25?

Dear Sir,
I purchased a box of Hostess Hohos for my husband this week and when he opened them over half of the packages were not sealed.
The Hohos were stale and not eatable. this is not the first time this has happened in recent months. I purchase at least one package every week and am disappointed in
your quality control that these packages have slipped out of your company. I have always been very satisfied with all of your products.
Thank you,
Mrs Thomas Gardner |

We have some good and bad upper management peoples. The best one I see is getting the worst rap because the plant is going through a bad time. The engineers should be lucky to have someone who cares like Steve Dalson. The way the engineers treat him or talk about him for laying someone off makes me wish I wasn't a fellow union member. He treats his men good I see. I wish he was in charge of Poduction. If the cry baby engineers would wipe the tears out of thier eyes they would see they have a good thing. He is all about a good man if you ask me. |

Comment: Kansas city what you are saying about ibc putting all the cbc managers (from a losing co.) into management it sure took someone else a long time to catch on if you check back in the posts many months ago maybe even in last years posts i have talked about and asked that question many times already.Yes they bring in managers from bankrupt co's. or from competition instead of moving people up from the ranks,i've seen them bring over a plain routesalesman from the comp.with less than 5 years experience and make him a district manager over more than 40 routes now is that good bussines or what and probably on the east coast where ibc was really strong they have replaced roughly 80% of their management force with cbc people and everyone knows how their track record is and as you can see they are not improveing on it.They were loosing money so fast the dog pound didn't want it anymore so ibc made them an offer and they dumped it quick and now you can see why.Always remember ibc bought cbc not the other way around and listen i'm not saying cbc don't have very good employees because they do i'm talking about the bussiness and managemeny staff |

Comment: This being the website the we all choose to bash or stand up for the company on, I have an apology to make, I was quick to judge the head of our HR department by assuming that going to her i would be wasting my time, She took the time to sit down with me and here what my issues were and she helped me see the other side of others issues towards myself, So i now have a better view of whats going on around me, Since I am one of those that will publicly voice of print my issues and their fault, I feel its only fair and Right to give credit when its due, I want to thank Becky Bryant publicly for addressing my concerns and issues and I think in the future, before I go about making issues public, I will give the Hr department a chance to address whatever issues I am having,
Thanks,
Bill K. |

I've been shopping at the store in Creve Cour for many years and I thought it was great until just recently. I overhead the manager yelling at one of her employess and calling her names. This wasn't the only thing that disturbed me. The store itself was a filthy mess with the shelves never being stocked. I have never been to a filthier store than this one and I don't plan on shoppping there any longer. Please, will someone give me a number to call so I can inform them of this situation. Thank you. |

Its nice to see my union buddies can retire with big guanteed monthly pensions. What a deal. Since signing on the dotted line IBC has changed my pension plan for the worse. Changed my medical coverage so that I have to work until I'm 60 to have any medical coverage. Anybody thinking about moving from a union position into a nonunion management position better think long and hard. Maybe the SOAR team will correct this? What was I thinking? |

Comment: When IBC purchased CBC the baking industry was saying it was such a good deal because of the way IBC managed their operations, and if they brought that over to CBC operation it would be such a good mix? Then why is IBC trying so hard to run the operation the CBC way when CBC was losing so much money? And why keep these old CBC managers around that brought CBC down in the first place? IBC is losing big money and when other big companies are cutting cost by trimming white collar jobs IBC is adding white collar jobs. Do the shareholders have enough patience to see this through while share price continues to lag? |

To Whom This May concern:
I have been eating Wonder Bread all of my life and now my children are enjoying it.
Thank you for many happy sandwiches.
I have a question regarding the Wonder light product. I have noticed that it becomes moldy very fast.
The last 2 loaves I bought didn't last a week. As a matter of fact I just bought a loaf yesterday and I am bringing it back to the supermarket as it is already moldy and the expiration date is 11/20/03.
Has this occurred in the past or have I just picked the bad loaves? Is it due to the fact that it is a "light" product?
I don't have any plans to switch breads, I just wanted to inform you.

Whatever happened to trusting your employees and trusting those who you hired to take care of these stores? Why can't IBC treat all, customers AND employees fairly? Is it so hard to speak the truth and let everyone know what the hell is going on in this messed up sorry ass name for a company?! Don't think that employees don't have a clue as to what is going on. Go ahead and audit/monitor our long distance phone calls. It doesn't hurt us one bit and plus, it gives us a shit load more to talk about. And with the concern of direct deposit. Does IBC reallllly think that they'll have enough employees/stores by then? Think with what your head, not your asses. |

have not been any bags of the donuts. The bags were great because they were
easy to handle, re-sealable, and traveled well. What is at the store is a
paper sack of these donuts, but this sack does not contain the same quantity
as the plastic bag did. Please let me know where we can purchase the
plastic bag of donuts and why they have disappeared suddenly.

Comment: No, the managers who discriminated are not part of SOAR. But they are working in consultive capacities for IBC. You know how the hackers get caught and then they have a career going around teaching people how to avoid being hacked? These managers now go from bakery to bakery teaching the managers how to discriminate without getting caught. They have been successful so far but this will soon end. There are lawsuits currently being prepared and IBC will have to explain why 95% of the pruction workers are black or brown and 100% of the managers lack these colors. |

Comment: The discrimination started when ITT owned CBC, continued through Ralston; and the evil managers were not stopped by IBC when they purchased CBC in1995. If they wanted to put an end to it there would not have been a trial and huge settlement in 2000. Many conversations start with____IBC was not guility, they only bought the company and the problems. IBC actually allowed it to continue for 5 years despite numerous complaints from the individuals to senior IBC managers in Kansas City. |

REGARDING THE T.S. IN CREVE COUR ILL, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS WITH THESE CLERKS OR THE STORE, BUT IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU ARE THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM. I KNOW THESE PEOPLE AND TALK WITH THEM EVERY WEEK ON THE PHONE, I DO NOT NO MORE BELIEVE THAT THIER STORE IS NASTY OR THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE RUDE. I ALWAYS GET A VERY FRIENDLY VOICE ON THE OTHER END OF THE PHONE. THESE GIRLS WORK VERY HARD AND TRY TO GIVE YOU THE BEST PRICES AND PRODUCTS THEY CAN, IF YOU ARE SO UNSATISFIED, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SHOP SOMEWHWERE ELSE AND STOP CAUSING PROBLEMS, I SHOULD SAY TRYING TO CAUSE PROBLEMS. IT'S NOT WORKING. EVERYONE AND ANYBODY IN THE COMPANY KNOWS THAT THERE IS NOT A BETTER PERSON TO RUN THAT STORE. I'M SURE IF THEY COULD HAVE THIER WAY ABOUT IT SHE WOULD BE A SUPERVISOR OVER ALL THE STORES. SHE DOES ABOVE AND BEYOND HER DUTIES AS A STORE MANAGER. SO GET A LIFE ....... |

To Whom it may concern: My wife and I were in Murfreesboro TN today at the VA hospital, after our visit we stopped at a gas station/convenience store and I purchased the powdered donuts - bite size - the 13 oz. package. After leaving we were about half way home - about 30 miles from where we purchased the donuts when we decided to open them with great anticipation and watering mouths to our dissapointment the box of donuts was stale. I was too far away to take them back. We paid $2.93 for the box of donuts. We were just very dissapointed. I'd be glad to send you the box of donuts, there is no last sale date on the box. Thank you. |

We have the ability to make Chocodiles here in Wayne, NJ. When we were Continental Baking, we produced Chocodiles here. It was one of our best selling product. But, when IBC bought us, they wanted mass production and "easy money". Quantity supercedes quality to the bean counters. So, the ban counters slashed great ingredients with cheap BS! The beancounters were sure that we were going to gain profit! It was a no-brainer. And what they learned in college was written in stone! Well, the bean counters were right in a way. Their "no brainer" management got hit with the "Stone-like" goods. They were not fresh anymore! They were stale. many products decintigrated far before their carefully college-calculated times! ______________________ Now, IBC is shocked! How could this happen?__________________ The answer for all of you beancounters is simple........................................................................................................................ You sacrificed quality for easy money! Cutting corners and integrity for the good ol' green!......................... But, now you are in the red bean counters! and all of the books never stated that this would happen!................................................. I guess not having "STREET SMARTS" and listening to what the people in the "streets" wanted made all of you bean counters wondering. And if you don't listen to the "Street" you are cenrtainly going to look funny flipping burgers at Mc Donald's with that college degree of yours! Because in about 25 years this is going to happen to each and every one of you!................................. So, my advice is go back to college and get a degree in sociology and a major in psychology! Beacause all you bean counters will be wondering, WHAT HAPPENED? |

This company is in BIG BIG trouble and the reasons are posted here for all the world to see. What a WONDERFUL report card for the consumers and investors to see the inside of this company. WEBMASTER, keep up the good work. |

Comment: Hey Loyal employee...you don't get do you, someone in K.C. has said they want this site down. so they told the bakery manager to shut it down. The bakery manger told the district manager to shut it down. The district manager told the supervisor to shut it down. The supervisor told the the route man to shut it down. The route man called HR. HR said they would look into it and get back to the route man. This was 4 years ago. The route man called to see what progress had been made but no one was answering the phones so he left a message. |

Comment: The handbook is for pension and benefits. When the contract is signed by the union and the company this is supposed to be a binding agreement for the term of the contract,no add ons no if and or buts. The union can't get any changes in during the term why should the co. ask cbc employees how many letters they had come down in the mail bag or faxed to them over the last 4 years telling them what they will do can do and cannot do. |

Comment: The union does not have a handbook it has a contract which each depot is supposed to have a copy of it posted in the office, but most don't. the bi-laws are the in between rules and add ons that the company sends out telling you what you are to do and these are supposed to be sent to the union first before being sent to the work force. This is the paper work they send down for you to read, sign and agree to and send back to them. The union lets them get by with this that's why the ink keeps running off the paper your contract is signed on. |

Comment: to: D.V., By now you know how things go at butternut, especially if you work out of cincy or or should i say Wilder Kentucky, if you are who i think you are, you know nothing is going to change, no-one there can get along long enough to get together and try to get possitive changes made, so i'll tell you the same thing you guys tell us laborers, we'll look into it and get back to you later, I don't mean to sound so cruel about it, but unfortionitly, now you know how the rest of us feel, i see some of you supervisors are seeing the light, they dont appritiate you anymore than they appritiate us, thats why we are seeing you guys step down to lower jobs, like loading and delivering, good luck, see you next week, Bill |

Comment: Company handbook outlines what is expected from the employee. It also outlines what the employee can expect from the company. This document is provided by the company usually on the hire date. Updates to this document should be signed for by the employees.
The Union Handbook is a summary of your contract. It should outline the basic's of the union contract. This document is obtained from the union. Your Shop Steward should be able to help you get copies of this document if you don't already have a copy.
The Bi-Laws are the Union Contract in it's entirety. All the in's and out's. This large document is obtained from the union. Most employees don't know about the bi-laws and think that the Union Handbook is the contract in it's entirety. This is a common mistake as most employees never see a copy of the Bi-Laws. It is a huge document and would cost the Union big bucks if each employee requested a copy.
With these three documents you should know what is expected of you, what you should expect from the company and what the union will do if either of you violates the contract.
If you have a Union Rep that understand the contract then by all means set up meetings and go learn. I have not met a rep that understands the contract though. |

Comment: This is to all people in the union or out.talk to your union rep.everyone set up a meeting on your day off or after work off company primses , carry copies of contracts with you and get him to explain the contract to all of you, even take your spouses so if they have any questions they can be answers, your jobs effect their lives to most people don't even know whats in the contract but you can bet one thing your supervisor does he most likely has one at home and he probably reads it every week over and over again. This contract is your handbook the bi-laws is the co. handbook if you don't even know what's in your contract how can you benefit from the dues you pay ,believe me the managers like to see how far they can push, bend, and break your contract they think it's a game and they get off on it.Stand up on your own feet,if you don't know what they can and cannot do to you then it's your own fault you have the tools to fix it with in black and white, once you go to the unon and they don't do anything for you then tou have followed precedure and the next step is the labor board they will be glad to talk to you and believe me they are not scared of ibc. These people know the laws and they are there for you, believe me ibc is scared of them and don't want them snooping in their affairs. If you have been treated wrong in the workplace and the co. don't take care of it or the union doesn't then if you have a leagal bitch the labor board will help. They are a hellva lot stronger than the co. or your union. |

Comment: What you people really don't understand about the lower management is that they didn't take this position to better themselves or to try to make a difference in the co.they tok these positions because they couldn't do the work or they were tired of working if you take a close look at these people you see very few of them that will do any work and when they have to they bitch about it these wanders when they get in managment they get a big ego and suddenly they're better than you are and all of a sudden they know everything and you know nothing and some of these guys were and maybe still are your friends, but remember their jobs will always come before yours, how many times have you heard them say if you don't like your job quit or don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out but remember the upper management knows where they came from and they don't listen to anything they say either all the big boys just say what the hell do they know all they are is just i glorified extra man. |

Comment: I think that our next union contract (if we get one)will look just like the one offered the retail clerks. So start saving your money or start looking for other employment. The guys in charge don't have any answers as to how to make this Co. go forward. There's not one indication from them that this thing is going to be around for long. You can't be putting bandaids on big problems. If I make a bad call it costs the Co. a few dollars,If management makes a bad call it costs tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. And we know of many bad calls over the years that they've made, yet they continue to come up with stupid ideas and try to blame the workforce for their failures. How the higherups in KC have allowed the guys here to continue their act is beyond anyone. The decline in sales and growth these last ten years has been incredible, yet the one constant has been the same mgmnt. team. The only thing that's seen any growth is the amount of lawsuits that have been filed here vs. the LA plant. How do you screw up the past success of brand names like WONDER,HOSTESS,DOLLY MADISON,etc? |

Comment: BILL, You need to learn the in's and out's of your union contract. You need to know it like the back of your hand. If the company does something that is in violation of the contract you need to step up to the plate and file a grievance. Your contract should state how many days after filing the grievance it has to be heard. Don't settle for anything less than what your contract says. I'm sad to say that I know more about my husband's contract than most of his co-workers and I don't work for IBC. I'm curious about what's in your contract and if it's simular to the contract out here. Remember that your union rep gets paid from your dues therefor he/she works for you. It's their job to make sure that the union members are treated fairly and to make sure that the company does not violate the contract. It's your job to point out when the company does not treat you fairly and violates the contract. You do that through the grievance process. If you don't have a copy of your contract, call your union rep and get one. You should also request a copy of the bi laws. The union handbook is a summary of your contract and the bi laws should be the complete document. |

Comment: TO: The other Wife, Thank you for your advise, I find it most educational and i'm sure it will be i'll be able to use the information in the near future, it would seem that going to HR would be the next step with my issues, but as some of the the other posts on here pointed out, it just seems a waste of breath, to them i'm the uncontrolable badguy and nothing else matters, even after ten years of being there, i don't believe anyone has ever questioned my work habbits, i've always done a good job, but as one of my bosses pointed out, if he can't control me, then he don't want me there, i'm not there to be controled, i'm there to do a job, not be thier buddies or yes man, so , i guess i'll just have to see how this play's out, if you have any advise as to who i should talk to outside of the plant it would be greatly appriated, Thanks again |

Comment: IBC your HR departments are a disgrace. The people working in them know as the HR people could care less about the employees in the bakery. HR is there to help, instead they hide and avoid contact..They lock themselves in their offices. Their main purpose seems to be to defend the management against the hourly employee. This needs to be addressed and corrected. |

HR is there to help, instead they hide and avoid contact..They lock themselves in their offices. Their main purpose seems to be to defend the management against the hourly employee. This needs to be addressed and corrected. |

To whom it may concern:
Its been a habit of mine to go to one of your vendors, 7-Eleven #20109, every morning for a cup of coffee and one of your delicious Dolly Madison Bakery Powered Gem Donuts. Today, November 12, 2003, I went in for the usual but when I opened the donuts, there was some discoloration which of course turned out to be mildew. I checked the expiration date to see if it was my error for not checking the product before buying but it stated Nov 22.
This is just an FYI for you and your vendors, I did'nt eat any of the donuts but there are other consumers that would and would've gotten sick, I'm glad I checked it out before eating them being that I'm 5 months pregnant.
I hope this letter becomes helpful to you and your vendors. |

I recently purchased a box of Drakes Apple Pies, upon eating one of the pies, I found what can only be described as a finger nail. It felt like a finger nail, tore like a finger nail, and just plainly looks like a finger nail. I am disgusted and cannot eat this product any longer. |

To Bill (Cinci)... I am pretty certain that you will not get a copy of "the rules" as I am sure there is not one in print. Like someone else mentioned, this would be the job of HR.....need I say more?? Dumb loader, huh? Did someone TELL you that- or make you FEEL like that? If so- a rule was broken. And when you were being cussed out on the phone by a supervisor- was this a CELL PHONE? HMMM..... I am sure that you have been around long enough to know that the rules change daily. And on a case by case basis. But I do wish you well with your journey. Maybe if you stumble across "the rules" you could post them up on this website for us all to see. We are always up for a good laugh. Best of luck to ya Bill- hang in there! |

Comment: ATTENTION Bill
The "Rules" can be found in your company handbook. Granted this important document has not been updated in years, but hey HR is to busy avoiding phone calls to deal with a document that dictates what employee's can and can not do. Every request you make to IBC should be done in writing and signed for by a company employee of supervisor or higher authority. Then after you have given this request by hand you need to send it in the mail to your HR dept via certified/return receipt. That way you have documentation that you made the request and they ignored your request. If you are in a Union, carbon copies of any correspondence should be sent to your Union. Again I'm assuming that you are represented by a Union. I can't stress the importance of documenting every little incident that occurs in your workplace. Have a co-worker who witnesses any altercations put their signature on your documentation if they will agree to do that. Any time you receive disciplinary action you need to let your Union rep know. Sometimes (if you have a strong Union) they will back you up if warranted and the action will be removed from your personnel file. Supervisors are not allowed to cuss at you or any employee. All employees must be treated in the same way. If other employees of the same job title are allowed to carry and use their cell phones, they can't tell you that you can't. Again, DOCUMENT these types of situations. This documentation becomes useful in more ways than you know. Anytime a supervisor tells you to do something different than what the other employees of the same job title are required to do have them put it in writing and sign it. If they won't put it in writing then I personally wouldn't do it if the other employees of the same job title were not required to do it. The majority of the blue-collar workers at IBC love their jobs; the problem is they are treated like crap. You have horrible upper management and your HR is an industry joke. Good luck. |

Comment: "The Rules"
For those of you that work out of plant 05, most of you will know who i am.
For thse of you that don't work out of plant 05, let me entertain you.
For the last year or so, i seem to always be in trouble. I have recently
been given three days off for not following the rules. Two months ago, I asked a
suprevisor for a copy of the rules, but had no luck getting them. So I went to another
supervisor and ask him for a copy, he tells me " Just Do Your Job And Follow The Rules".
I guess its a pretty simple idea but i can't follow the rules if i don't know the rules
and i don't think my job performance has ever been in question. So, yet again, still no
copy of the rules, I'm starting to wonder, are there any rule or do they make them up as
they go along. Ok, I followed the chain of comand trying to get a copy of the rules. Atlast,
I have a copy of the attendence policy. I guess we have to start somewhere
(Common sence has no place in the workplace)
"Still Waiting on the Rules"
What are the rules? These are the common sence rules.
1. No smoking in the building (how many supervisors did we see smoking on the dock)
2. No gambling (doesnt this one screw all the people in the football pool)
3. No redneck jokes (this isn't a joke, it causes a hostile work enviornment)
4. No redneck jokes (I thought it was worth repeating since so many get offended by them)
5. No cellphones (but this one only applies to me)
(by the way IBC posted a memo that there is to be no cell use in Company vehicals)
(Hmmm, i wounder how many do that)
6. No working hard to get done (you might interfer with someones overtime causing hostility)
7. No calling people stupid (i think that includes making them feel stupid)
I'm not sure about this one but i'm pretty sure its a rule.
8. No cussing, cursing, going off on, or bad mouthing other employees (unless you a supervisor)
These are the Rules that I know of. Although i'm pretty sure i'll get a list of them
now that i have waited for two months and put this up on the message board. Gee, i wonder what
the rest of my week is going to be like. Lets see here, in the past month, I have been wrote
up, given three days off (it was such a nice week), our genious in human recources made
a pretty stupid threat, and now thier auditing my expence reports. DAmn, I think they want to
get rid of me at this point. Oooops, i almost forgot, i got cussed out by a supervisor on the
phone. Damn what a month.
So, with all this, some little twit has the nerve to question my integrity. At this point
I have never RATTED anyone out at my job, should i start to squeal. I have taken the blame when it
was do, you would think this would give me some credabilty. So, when the twit comes to me and makes
an acusation (for which he has no proof), and I tell them the facts (he didnt even have the paperwork
i filled out with a supervisor) they look at me like i'm lying (I wasn't wearing my white shirt that
day). If it was job job to try to intimidate someone, i think i would have my act together.
I bet i hear about this in the morning, LOL.
For those of you that have read this far, Thank you for you patience, sorry for the
spelling, (i'm just a dumb loader).
For those of you sitting there pissed off because you know i'm talking about you, you will just have to deal with it. (i wish i could have put a smiley face as a period)
By the way, could I please get a copy of the company policies (the rules)
I bet theres a copy somewhere, someone will just have to dig it out. |

Comment: I agree with anonymous from LA. Ive worked in this business for 15 years and feel like Im back in the service. Do as your told only takes a back seat to dont prove a superior wrong or show one up. Its amazing that they will no longer listen to the rank and file. They MIGHT act like they are listening , but they are not. Ive coached kids at all levels and I will listen to there ideas and sometimes use them. I dont have superiors to answer to though, just parents. It seems the problems with IBC are widespread and nationwide, so what does that tell you. The first thing IBC ought to do is start treating people (consumers and employees)like people. Quit ignoring them, they can make you or break you. To be continued. |

Do you think that a strong management team would let this site continue so the public can see all of these internal problems? And what is the Bush Foundation, are these people related to the president and IBC's lawyers are afraid to go after them? They better be happy I'm not the CEO, I would have their asses in a courtroom everyday until I drained every penny from their bank accounts! |

Comment: Of course this is not a racial issue.I was just responding to the tacos and beans comment made by one of our future managers.Let's get serious, the old guard let this Co. go.From the least important part of the company to the most important part, they just ignored the things you must do to keep your company up to date and competitive.I've been with IBC for 20+ years and for the most part it's been agood experience. But the last 5 years you can see that there is no future planning, no new updated equipment.Just like a company in trouble or a company not caring in it's future. You're only as good as your employees and their attitude. If you divide the company into a mngmnt. vs. the rest, the I don't care anymore sickness will spread. We're supposed to be a team but try giving an idea or an opinion and they think you're some kind of dummy.I hope things change soon before it's too late. |

I cannot believe some people are turning the failure of IBC into a racial issue. Any minorities that work for the company are more than likely "on the front lines". Not in upper management. Upper management is the reason for the downfall of this company- not the dedicated, hard working employees who work the crappy hours, put up with all the bullcrap, and for the most part, work with little or no guidance. Bread.... it is basically flour and water. Hats off to all the employees who are sticking it out. It has got to be very difficult working for a company that has lost the whole substance and value it was built on to begin with. |

Who wants to work all different hours?Who wants to work all the holidays?Who wants to give up their family lifestyle for their job? Only the people on the bottom of the barrel are interested.. Many of the employees can not even speak good english. And most are friends and related to eachother in one way or another. Want a quality product you need quality people. So you have to offer more than a pay check. Wake up management. Or are you on the bottom of the barrel also? |

A few weeks ago I sent IBC an email concerning the inability to obtain Merita Brand D'Italiano bread in the Asheville, North Carolina area. They responded with a very nice letter and three coupons applicable to their products. A day or so after the letter I was able to purchase the D'Italiano bread at the Ingles store nearest my home. As a matter of fact I bought all four packages just in case availability once again became limited. Well, that is indeed what has happened. Today, while shopping at Ingles market the bread was not available. As luck would have it the delivery routeman was at the store. When asked about the availability of the D'Italiano loaf he replied that the store would not let him stock it any more; that they had cut back his shelf space. We further asked where in the area he placed the bread and the only store in the region was in Skyland, way too far to travel for a loaf of bread. It was also suggested that an Ingles market further north may stock it. Upon investigation we found that not to be the case. What can you do to ensure an adequate supply of the D'Italiano bread is available in the Asheville shopping area? Thank you very much. |

my hubby loves his job, and he does it to the best of his ability. i complain because it isn't fair to the employees to treat them like crap!
get another job is easier said than done...he could go with flowers or little debby and buy his route...i say not no, but he** no! to much overhead and no benefits. do all areas belong to a union. at my hubby's depot, only the bread men are allowed to join. since my hubby does cake, he can't join. is it that way everywhere? |

Comment: Hello R, X IBC employee. I have been telling these people for months to either leave and find another job because complaining DOES NO GOOD. No one listens to me, I see the number of complaints grow more and more each month. I believe we are losing this battle, this is the day of the Internet and this site is Killing IBC, maybe they can get their lawyers to have it removed, I don't see other companies with sites like this. What are they paying the lawyers for anyway? |

It's the people on the front lines that make the real $$ for the company. If you do the job your were hired for and quit complaining the company would be a much better place to work. To Whom it May Concern:
I'm just writing to inform you of a recent incident with one of your products.
On Saturday, November 8th, at Tops in Fairlawn, OH, I purchased two boxes of Ho Hos. Upon opening the first box, there were only 5 Ho Hos inside. The code off the face of the box is 00307 B Sell by Nov 26 $3.49. I opened the second box with the same code and had the 10 cakes inside.
Thank you for taking the time to look into this.

Comment: what's going to happen when and if ibc sales the routes to the drivers and they have to cover all their expenses and lease their own trucks and they are allowed a certain percentage of returns and anything over that the route driver pays for out of his own pocket then you will be wishing for a thrift store to dump your returns in,i've seen this with flowers bread co. most of them can't keep their routes in the black much less their routes and household.Competition is whats killing ibc,go in a convenant store and you will see 4 or 5 different cake companies in each one of them and in most of them ibc cakes are the worst looking and feel the hardest of all, they are still putting out the same cakes they did 20 or 30 years ago and some of them look and feel like they have been there that long but don't get mad at me for writing this get off your ass and go check for yourself and then make your your own decision about this fact. |

I too will be glad when IBC makes it changes. Anyone know when they are going to be done with their testing? I will be thrilled to have no more private label bread, thriftstores closed, and everything uniform around the country. Maybe then employees will make more money because the company will make more money. Hey, and maybe just maybe employees will get to have a Christmas Party where they can bring their significant others or spouse. I know a party is not a big deal but I have never heard of a company not having one to show appreciation to their employees. This is just a small fish in the big ocean but they need to start somewhere, wouldn't it be wonderful if someday there was an article about IBC being one of the top family/friendly best companies to work for? |

to the person who thought thriftstores were not a thing of the past, true, but IBC is looking to improve things all around so they will be a thing of the past, they were put in place to help old bread and now they aren't needed why would a company want to sell fresh bread at discount prices? That is why they are going to be gone soon. Some may make money but bottom line is that there can be more money made if they are closed. |

I recently bought two boxes Hostess HoHo's from the local grocery store, as they are my husband's and son's favorite snack. After opening the first box, my husband told me that they tasted bad. He couldn't really specify what "bad" was except maybe stale or something.
I looked at the date and on the "bad" box it is Sept.17 and on the second box it is Oct. 28. The second box tastes just fine. So I'm wondering if the first box is expired as the year isn't on there. |

I purchased an economy pack of devil dogs from Sams WholesaleClub in Medford, New york. The pop 4126125005 dated (use by Nov 25 #56307).
Iam very disappointed that the cakes inside the box. They appear to be hard (not fresh). Is this the way the product should be, or is there a freshness problem with this box that I purchased. |

Is this becoming a routine practice at your location: A benefit increase occurs, and if your contract does not
have a maintenance of benefits clause. And you are not informed by IBC and they wait till you owe a substancial amount and then they want their money from your next check end of story.... Can they do this without a court judgement?
we are the second plant to experience this any others out there?? |

Comment: To IBC management in Kansas City
I respectfully request that you check the above bakery for quality control.
Since the Richmond, Va Bakery was closed, and the RM Bakery took over distribution, many products have continued to lose most or all of their previous levels of market share.
To mention a few: Home Pride Wheat, Home Pride Honey Wheat, Home Pride White, and Wonder Sandwich Bread.
With a top notch product that our sales people can be proud of...again! The best management and sales people in the world can not make sales grow with an uncompetitive product. I challenge you to "wake up"...and realize that we used to be the consumer's No. 1 choice in our market area. Now...when I'm doing call backs, quite often I hear:
1. Wonder doesn't taste fresh anymore, even though the date on bag says it's O.K.
2. Yeah...used to buy HP Wheat all the time, loved it...but so many times it's over baked, sunk deep in the middle...so I bought the Nature's Own. I found their brand is always baked properly.
3. "Used to buy Wonder Sandwich Bread all the time." Sometime ago you people reduced the size from 24 oz. to 20 oz. and raised the price to $2.09. So I buy that one in the Red and Yellow wrapper (Sunbeam). They made their's larger, and it's 20 cents less at $1.89.
As you should imagine, I have heard many more comments. Hopefully...this will be enough to get your creative juices flowing. My future and yours depends heavily on the decisions made by upperlevel management over the next 6 months. Personally, I do not beleive we'll make it much further than that, if we keep doing like we have the last 6 months. Serious changes in actions and attitudes must happen if we are to prevail. Your dedicated sales staff depends on a consistant quaiity product to deliver the sales results you need to prosper. We CAN DO IT, if you can supply the quality products that made the name Wonder and Hostess a household name!

To whom ever this concerns. I live in Creve Cour and shop in the Dolly Madison Thrift store There. There are usually Three people working then but yet the shelves are never stocked. Most of the time when I go into the store they are either in the back office talking or the manager and her daughter who also works there are arguing in front of the customers. The daughter has a very bad attitude. A lot of people have complained about her but what they do not know is that the one they are talking to is her mother so it does not do any good. I just found out from a friend thatyou have a hot line but what good does this do if nothing is going to be done to straighten this mess out. I think they should put someone else in this store to straighten this all out. |

As my husband was eating the cookies the other night we found a foreign object in the middle of the cookie. I am not sure exactly what it is but would like to send it to someone there to see if you know what it is. I have kept the cookie and the packaging it came in. I would appreciate an address I could send it too . I would like to know what my husband had in his mouth. There is no toll free number on the package. |

Comment: We have the ability to make Chocodiles here in Wayne, NJ.
______________________
Now, IBC is shocked! How could this happen?__________________
The answer for all of you beancounters is simple........................................................................................................................

I remember Dolly Madison Products as being a tasty treat as a child growing up....but now. I am 52 years old and had a taste for something sweet. So I went downstairs in my office building where there is a little grocery store and purchased a DM Chocolate Chip Muffin. The Date of Exp. is Nov 27th 03, and the process code is: A296. I will tell you even warming this thing up didn't help to change the bad taste left in my mouth. And where are the chips?
This muffin tasted lake plastic chemicals. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Maybe you should have corporate sit down and read some of the stuff on this message board....Get a clue. Your products SUCK now. What happen to the old Dolly stuff? I will tell you I am going to print off at least two months of the message board and go down and show it to the store owner in hopes that he'll have enough pride in his business to not stock your products any longer.

Comment: IBC..PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE sell the company back to CBC so we and the consumers can have FRESH cake again. No more 14 day codes like back when DOLLY MADISON was around. The product now is HORRIBLE and we are losing the customers that we worked for 60 years to get. Just sell us back to CBC or even RALSTON PURINA. IBC..YOU ARE NOT CAKE OR BREAD PEOPLE. I do like your products but here is some information you should know. On
November 6, 2003 I purchased Dolly Madison Old Fashioned Donuts. I ate the
first donut in the package, then I looked on the bottom of the second donut
and notice that there was a lot of mold on this donut. I then checked the
expiration date and it was November 7, 2003. |

I have been carrying Hostess Cherry Pies in my lunchbucket for the past 32 years. I have never had any complaints about this product until now.
Most recently, I have purchased your pies and have noticed that the filling is very runny. The filling runs out of the pie like a souplike mess. This makes a real mess when I am trying to eat the pie.
Could you tell me if you have maybe changed an ingrediant in your pies? Today I was forced to buy a competitors pie, because of the constant mess that your pie makes. After 32 years of carrying this in my lunchbucket, I would really prefer eating your product.

Comment: It is my sincere wish that people would pay more attention to their grammar and spelling when posting. I do not believe that anyone from management posts on this board. Management usually denotes a higher education than the blue-collar workingman. Wait, we are talking about IBC. That?s the company where you get hired for a job and after 3 months of running vacation relief you get promoted to management just because your distant cousin used to be married to a guy that worked in the plant. Never mind. |

here is no contact information on the package, I just want to know who I would contact about the following:
This morning I opened a loaf of Wonder Bread to make my childrens lunch. As soon as I opened the bag I saw a bug. It's dead, but it's body and legs are in the bread. I don't have the receipt to take it back to the store. And besides this is not the fault of the store. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

THere are too many thing to comment on. Common sense may answer many of the comments on this post. There is no job security anywhere that is a fact. Wonder/Hostess Butternut/Dolly or any product a consumer may buy rather it be bread or a nabiso, kraft whatever product is going to have faults intelligent people realize that so if someone complains on this site about a zinger having something in it, big deal it happens nothing is perfect however companies are always trying to improve so it people want to get something off their chest let 'em. As a consumer I know nothing is perfect.. As far as IBC closing, doubt that and if they do someone will buy up their companies they own because they are profitable companies with good products. As far as thrift stores go, they are closing because they are a thing of the past and not profitable and if they are making profits, IBC can still make more profit closing them down they are not needed in today's market anymore they are a thing of the past, closing them is a step forward for the company any way you look at it. People who complain about lazy managers well IBC is looking at this too, their are lazy managers in every company, not right but true. So leave IBC alone they are looking at everything because that is what big business does and they want it to work for them and employees. |

Comment: Hey anonymous of ''Website'', normally I'd be cheering for you and I would probably be the first-(and more than likely, the only one)-person to tell you to give 'em hell. But not today... At first, I also leaned pretty heavy on Rocky Mount, and I thought I was going to tell him that if he didn't like IBC to take a hike. His response back to me was in self defense and he actually made a lot of sense about people like you and me that are loyal employees of IBC to the death. You don't have to agree with everything or anything they say, but keep an open mind and let these folks vent. I disagree with you about Rocky Mount being a cry baby, read his posts, he actually points out quite a few reasonable assumptions about Mr. Sullivan. |

I may never buy your products again. It may have been only a .90 investment

looks as though it was melted and solidified again.

I recently bought a box of Ding Dongs from a local QFC. As I began to eat them I found that over half of the Ding Dongs had no cream filling. I am writing to tell you of this as now that I have ate the ding dongs, I cannot take them back. The whole reason I bought the product was to get the actual product I bought... Instead I bought chocolate cakes with a chocolate frost and no filling, which was not what I wanted. It is my belief that somehow there was a bad batch made and I happened to get the box of the bad batch.

They are now much smaller and now i notice there is hardly any cream in the center. They are very dry and i will not purchase them anymore. I also noticed this week the crumb cakes are so thin you will be calling them Crumb Cookies.I hope you make plenty of money but none of it will be mine. |

My great grandfather started Sunbeam. I was considering working for IBC in Biddeford, Maine but am appalled at how it is run, very typical of every corporation of the day.
Here is a message to all overpaid top exec's: why the h*ll don't you try focusing on the employees and quality of the product instead of greed for money. You may just find that BIG profitability will follow (hmmm) . This has been proven many times over in the past. I know it sound painful to flip the financial philosophy of your company on its head but hows about testing one bakery and commit to 2 years. Dah!
My 2 cents. Good luck guys. |

Comment: L A different companies are stronger in different areas wonder and hostess was strong on the west coast but not too strong on the east coast,if dolly madison or cbc were doing so great they would not have sold to ibc.Ibc bought cbc to control the market share from coast to coast by sending their products everywhere but it has taken them this long to figure out how to do it and that is by extending the shelf life of the products and if you are still with ibc in 8 months you will not believe the length of the codes on these products and as far as closeing plants and t-stores well this was in the makings when they made the merger and they are closeing smaller and older plants and replacing them with fewer larger and more productive plants and i don't believe they will file chapter 11 i may be wrong but i believe ibc is too strong for that. |

Comment: I'm sorry to disagree with the comment from the person that works for Hostess about the company has gone down hill since IBC purchased CBC. The opposite is that IBC was doing fine until they purchased CBC, The CBC part of this operation has just sucked the life out of whats left of IBC. Remember CBC was the bakery for sale not IBC. IBC made a very bad decision to purchase CBC. This will be the result of this company filing chapter 11? |

Comment: Mike E,you did make a comment about my education in the last sentence of your post ,so if i take up for myself it's only natural and i understand about the loafers and skimmers in the co. but when the wave comes to take them out it takes out the hard working loyal people too. you are talking about ibc needing money to pay their bills how about Chuck Sullivan selling off over 3,000,000 dollars in stock and managers unde6r him sold off about another 3 or 4 million and how about nestles someone must have slipped them some inside information on the stock crashing because they sold off 350,000,000 dollars worth all during the time ibc didn't make it's quartly report to the sec which we all know was a cover up so the big boys could max their profits out now all the little people and the employees that was paying 25 dollars a share can only hope to get maybe up to 15 dollars a share when they sell if they are lucky. Now don't tell me that don't catch everyones eye.I worked for 27 years at the same percentage rate while the bosses got thousands of dollar raises and bonuses and this is not a maybe so it is a know so now i'm not mad but you did make your post directly to me so i respond and i'm still not mad, by the way i did have 30 years with the co. |

Comment: Hey Rocky Mount, I think you missunderstood my post. If you would read it again, you will see that I did not say anything about being worried about your education. I could care less about you! It's the money we're overpaying you what I'm worried about... We need it right now to pay the bills. I do not need to stick my head up anybody's toosh to keep my job, I keep my job because I work hard and mind my own business. I do not try to second guess my managers or play back seat driver to every decision they make. Yes, they most definitely will make mistakes, but I will not try to sabotage their efforts to try and cause a failure like I have seen some of my coworkers do. |

Has there been a reduction in the quality of the ingredients you use to produce your various snack cakes? It seems to me that the quality (over time) of your products has declined. Are cheaper ingredients being used to maintain a certain level of profitability? |

I had a box of Hostess Glo Balls 6 individually wrapped chocolate cakes,
dated Nov 07 1B07 283. When I opened the box they
was only 5 Glo balls in the carton. Seems to be the norm for this company!

Today I bought a Hostess Cherry Pie from the vending machine at my work. The expiration date was November 6 (51b290). It tasted like it was 100 years old. All the filling was dried up, and the crust crumbled almost instantly upon opening the package. I buy these products EVERY week from this vending machine, and NEVER had any other product tasted like this. It was so terrible that I would not even think about consuming it. |

I bought a loaf of bread -- Butternut calcium fortified enriched bread, large loaf.
Oddly enough it has seeds on the bottom of it. The kids really didn't like it.
Is this a new change in the way the white loaf is going to be? |

I'm looking for the three pound tin of Hostess fruit cake that is sold at the thrift stores. Can someone provide me a location in San Diego County? I heard there's one in Escondido but I'm willing to drive a bit to get three or four of those treasures. I've found them in the past in Mission Viejo at that location and am up there once a week so it wouldn't be a problem to go there either. Any help on this annual search for delightful goodies would be a help.

Comment: Problem is anyone with education will not take a job with this company because of the long hours, bad days off,not normal hours of work, poor management. So whats left but to take what you can get so they hire just about anybody to fill a position. |

Comment: Hey Rocky Mount, so you don't like the way the Co. is closing the thrift stores? Because these monsters go in with the ''Wham, bang, thank you mam'' aproach? #1) They work for a really bad Co. anyways...we're just giving them the iniciative to go find employment with the Company of their dreams. Now there's nothing holding them back...Good luck, adios and don't come back. Why didn't they think about their kids and mortgage payment when they were b*tching and complaining about the company? #2) The reason why it is done that way it is because the employees have ''trained'' the company to do it this way. Workers Comp. tend to skyrocket when a closure is advertized. Stop crying and be happy you have an excellent paying job for the education you have... |

Comment: Thank you to from too many people, you are exactly right and they had 61 bakeries and are now down to 58 soon to be less.Management has forgotten where they came from but if they hang around long enough the hammer will be dropped right between there eyes and they deserve it, they are cruel and horrible people if you can call them people anymore, most of them have turned into monsters and people are scared of them and hate to see them come out. They are ugly excuses for human beings and believe me the company don't love them anymore than they do the pesants of this company. |

Being a past employee of IBC, I am all too familiar with the things that are being said on this site. I believe that for the most part, the people like their jobs, they just do not like the way the company has changed. The bakery that I worked at was no different than the ones being mentioned. Our bakery had a wonderful sales team, an awesome production crew and an overall great group of people. HOWEVER- the GM of this bakery was (is) the biggest egotistical, big mouthed, back stabbing, non caring, sorry excuse for management that I have ever come across. His management methods were hidious. His numbers looked good on paper (thanks to his seasoned accountant.) His main goal was literally to belittle people and having them fear for their jobs. This was his managemnt style. His sales meetings would consist of screaming, yelling, cussing and continually criticizing his "no good sales force". He stepped on everybody's toes, to get to where he thinks, is the top. I hope everyone waves to him on his way down. This man has burned way too many bridges behind him, and now has nothing to fall back on. Afterall, why would you still be at the "training bakery" after all these years? What goes around really does come around. So now it will be time for ALL THOSE PEOPLE you humiliated, tormented and made them feel "less than nothing" to relish at the thought of YOU not being good enough to make the cut. The bakery, if it remains open, will prosper without your sorry a$$! |
