Comment: i have been working with lbc for about six years and have seen the quality of the product we sell go down hill ! i think if ibc is serious about their business they should get rid of the products that dont sell as good as others and let the route salesmen control the way we order and what stores we put certain product in . maybe sales would be good and returns low.start baking the white and wheat the way they did before changing the formulas. |

When I went to get another piece of bread from the bag I held in my hand half a heal with what looks like a half of a bug. After puking up my last piece. I always check the dates but even though the dates looked good, product was not fresh. A while back, I had a problem with the Twinkies (cream filled) but that seems to be ok now. |

Just in the past few weeks I have noticed pieces of wood like material in the bread it was never there before and it is big enough pieces that it could choke a child or even an adult in some cases. We are currently trying to reduce our total intake of Carbohydrates. Home Pride Bread contains 22g of Total Carbohydrates per serving.

I have recently purchased a loaf of Wonder Stoneground 100% Whole Wheat Bread. As my 11 year old was making his luunch for school one day he remarked that there were chunks of wood in the bread. I did not believe him, and had to see it for myself. Sure enough, he was right. I saved the bread incase you want to see it. But, I would realy like to know why there is wood in the bread. On February 15 I fed my 3 year old grandson a package of Hostess raspberry cake with creme filling.After eating through about half of one,my grandson told me that it tasted funny.
In examining the package I noticed that the bottom of the cakes were black as was the white cardboard bottom. I assume it was mold. The package was dated 2/23/03.
After seeing the packaging all black my grandson became ill and vomited. |

Yesterday I purchased a Hostess Apple Fruit Pie to take to work for a midday snack. I opened it and took a bite only to find it was a pastry with no filling... I know times are tough and there are cutbacks almost everywhere. But if this is what I can expect to get when buying one of these pies I will seek out a new snack and not waste my money on a dry pastry. I can remember just a few years ago that these pies were overflowing with filling and were very good. Over the last few years I have watched the filling dwindle down until this last one with no filliing. What happened to them? Well I just thought I would let everyone know and I hope they can find it in their heart to increase the volume of filling to at least half way.
I might consider buying again if I can get a pie with filling. |

This morning (2/12/03) I bought a box of Hostess Frosted Donuts which I do approximately once a week. The expiration date on the box was 2/22/03. The donuts as usual were great. There was a coupon inside the box, and for a regular ?donut buyer? the sight of a coupon was nice. The coupon, however, has an expiration date on it of 1/31/03. Therefore, the coupon is no good to me. Please make sure that in the future coupons inside the boxes don?t expire until, at the very least, the date printed on the box. |

I have purchased the Dolly Madison Bakery brand of powered donuts for years. We usually buy them in the plastic bags because of the quantity and quality. We serve them to our Sunday school class when it?s our turn for refreshments. The past two times that I have purchased them, they have been terrible and unservable. I thought the first bag was just a quirk, so I didn?t say anything. After purchasing the second bag weeks later and having the same problem, I felt I should write. The bag ID is G530 25 Feb 17. Both bags of donuts were soggy and damp and they crumbled to pieces within days of opening the bag for the first time. The powder was gummy and not flourier like they normally are. I feel that there must be a production problem somewhere. Unless something changes and they get back to the way they were, we won?t be purchasing them again. The bad thing is my kids love them so much. The boxes did not have the same problem, just the plastic bags. |

I have been a buyer of Hostess Twinkies and Cup Cakes all of my life. I am now 53 years old and I have type II diabetes (have had it for 10 years now). There has been a lot of press recently about the "epidemic" spread of type II diabetes nationwide. I would like to consume more twinkies and cup cakes but I cannot due to the diabetes.With the ever increasing instance of type Ii diabetes nationwide, would you ever consider making these products with Nutrasweet or aspartame or any other articial sweetner, much like the cola companies have done.
I am sure I am not alone. I know I would certainly purchase more of these products if they were made without real sugar, and I am sure countless millions of other diabetics would too.
Any response? What do you think?

As one of the newer employees in the Maintainence dept. I cannot help but be overwhelmed by the incompetence and the sheer number of supervisors in it takes to run this crew or 45 mechanics. on a typical day one third to a full one half of the maintainence personell at this plant is composed of supervision. In these days of razor thin margins , it boggles the mind that the bean counters of this company allow this. Is this why we cannot afford even the minimal amount of parts required to run this operation? It might not be so bad if this ARMY of supervision actually had something to contribute other than HARASS the men incessantly about petty issues. Chief Banchee clearly holds those around him in complete contempt. This operation isnt about producing quality baked goods at a profit for the stock holders , this is about ego and vanity. Somebody who is out of the "good ole boy" loop needs to audit the situation here. You wont have to look hard. I purchased a package of Drakes Apple Fruit Pies today. The information on the package is as follows...above the date is 56024 (the second digit may be a 5 rather than a 6, it is not clear enough for me to know) The date under that is FEBE 17 (again, the last E before the number 17 may be three lines like dashes on top of each other but the printing is not clear). The Sku Number/Bar Code on this package is 0 41261 25110 7 written under that is Apple Fruit Pies. The package NET WT.is 4 OZ. (113g)
The package contained two small apple pies, I had one and my husband William J Frederick JR had the second one. We both got terrible stomach aches after eating the pies. With in an hour I was vomiting and about an hour and a half after that my husband started vomiting. We are both extremely sick and in a great deal of pain. I called the local hospital (Good All Hospital of Sanford, Maine) and spoke with a nurse in the emergency room. She told me that there was little the hospital could do for food poisoning which she believed was what we where suffering from. She suggested that we try to keep as much fluids in our bodies to stop us from getting dehydrated from vomiting so much. She added that if we were still feeling the same in the morning that we should make an appointment to see our primary care doctors.
My husband was at work all day today and this was the only thing that we both had that was the same. He had breakfast and lunch while he was on route and at work during the day. When he was on his way home he stopped for Gas and purchased the apple pies for a snack for us to eat while we watched a new movie. I am greatly concerned for my health as I recently found out that I am pregnant and fear that being

i purchased several bags of Brownie Bites. Upon opening the first one I saw that there was only 4 brownies and they were nasty. It was like they were not baked all the way. They were soft and slimey. I purchased thisproduct at our local grocery store yesterday- dated fresh thru Feb 08 62A021, when the box was opened this AM, they were so dry and hard, no one could eat them. The back of the box states they are committed to providing quality bakery products. I found only very poor quality. They also state they invite comments and questions, if this is truly the case then a consumer hotline phone number should be on the box. Thank goodness I found this site. |

This morning I purchased a bag of Powdered Donut Gems for my children to
eat in the car, while taking my husband to work. In that bag was a
chocolate donut. My son had started to eat it, and said "Hey! This one is
chocolate!!!"(it was dark out so he was going by taste). Fortunately he
is not allergic to chocolate, because if he was, he would have had a
serious allergic reaction from the one bite he took.

My family and I are lovers of Dakota Bread. I understand that they are not making this bread anymore. Please reconsider!!1. It is a great bread and as far as I know they are not making a comparable product. A store person said that the Santa Barbara was the same, but it is not even whole wheat like Dakota was.
Please bring back Dakota, or at least bake a similar product (under a new packaging name is ok, just what is it). |

I had bought banana nut Muffins at Wal-Mart on 12/27/02, then a couple of days later I had sent them an e-mail, that the unopened package, was bad. (Not a Store Fault) The actual packaging in the box was not properly closed, thus making the muffins hard and not enjoyable. I had to throw them away. I am not happy that I had to send my second e-mail. I just would like a response from them to this matter. I know they read these comments on this site. This is not a store defect, it in from the company. I had to throw their product away that I spent my money on, and now this is the thirdtime I am writing to them. Maybe they will now go back and read my emails and contact me. I still have the box, and my receipt from the store. |

I purchased a Hostess "Apple" Fruit Pie from a Jewel Food store in Oaklawn Illinois. When I arrived at home I had dinner and then proceeded to eat the fruit pie.
Upon biting into the pie, a long string came out with my bite. The string was actually baked right into the pie. There is still crust on the string.
I do not know the procedures you use to bake your pies, but a string by any means is a definate contaminant to the product.
I am also contacting Albertsons, the parent company of Jewel Foods, to inform them of this contaminated pie in the event there have been other incidents reported.
I hope this is an isolated incident. However, I am still very concerned about the production standards of Hostess products. |

I have purchased 2 boxes of Ding Dongs in the past week. (12 per box). The first
box had 2 Ding Dongs that were either not properly sealed at the factory, or had beentampered with.
The 2nd. box had one Ding Dong that was also not properly sealed or had been
tampered with.
In all cases the back seal was not sealed. As a Healthcare Provider and
conserned citizen I think this should be looked into due to the potential for spreading bacreria,not to mention freshness. If I continue to find this product this way I will report it to the FDA. |
