Yesterday I visited a WalMart near my home town, and bought some of the Hostess Cherry Pies that I like so much. I opened one today, and I had eaten 1/4 of the pie when I noticed there was a good deal of mold in and on the pie. This sickened me to think that a Hostess product which I've enjoyed eating since my early childhood would have mold on and in it. This is only August 31 and the pie was dated for expiration on September 16.
I can stand a lot of things in life that would upset most people, but this is one thing I can't! I am now off of ANY Hostess product, and will be contacting the Corporate office about this HUGE problem. But I just wanted to comment on the SO-Called great Hostess fruit pies.
Thanks for reading.

What happened to the vanilla zingers? Our Walmart and other stores carry the rasberry, chocolate and butterscotch (which are terrible in my opinion), but there are never any vanilla in the stores. I miss them. |

We bought a box of Ho-Ho's today that only had 9 individually wrapped cakes inside (not 10, as stated on the box). The number on the box is 00229A, with a date of September 10th. As far as we can recall, this never happened before. It caused a bit of disruption at the children's party we were having!

I purchased a package of your golden cup cakes today from a vending machine at the office building where I work.
And, on top of one of them was a piece of another product ( I think). It was a marshmallow goop with pink coconut on it. The UPC code is454970 with a date of September 4th (32219). Thought you would want to know to help with your quality control. I didn?t know if it was safe to eat or not.

Comment: My friend is an employee there and is going through problems. He is suspended due to not following a supervisor's order, but to the circumstances of unsalvagable bread he did what has been instructed for him since day one do what you have to do. But now he was caught and I am afraid he will be made an example of because of so much that has been going on inside the bakery with rules being made and broken on day to day basis to make the stats. My friend acknowldges he was wrong and knows suspension should result but he may lose his job because of a moral decision to keep everything contained or do nothing and let a big pile up occur. Now he is waiting word from general office now, he wishes to keep working due to his many years of employment there, but while he waits he is getting behind in child support which is automatically deducted out weekly there and he also suffered a pulled muscle in his back due to the same decision made, but they have not taken that into consideration. He also has stocks and retirement plans which shows he do care for the company and wishes for them and him to prosper. Alot goes on inside there that does not get noted to the boards, division, labor board, OSHA. |

I always purchase Twinkies for my husbands lunch so I was perplexed when he showed me a partially eaten Twinkie he saved from his lunch.
He had noticed that the wrapper was hard to open, but eating in his work truck is commonplace so he thought it was him. When he finally opened it he took a bite and immediately spit it out because it tasted horrible. Upon looking further at the wrapper he noticed that the ends of it looked like they were opened and then resealed-like if heat was applied to melt the ends shut,
the upc code on the bottom of the box-4500000316. This was the 7th Twinkie in the box and the first 6 were fine and the two remaining look fine. I recently purchased another box that I have yet to open - quite frankly I am apprehensive to let him eat the remaining two in the box or to even open the other box-
I have always trusted the Hostess name and do not mind paying $3.49 for the snacks that he likes in his lunch- Ding Dongs, Suzie-Q's, Twinkiesand Ho-Ho's. Paying $1.19 or $1.29 for Little Debbie is not a bargin when the taste is inferior.
I would like to think I can still trust Hostess products for all my husbands lunch snack needs.

Comment: I have just read the article printed about I.B.C. I laughed at the comment "We have to improve our packaging". First they have to improve the PRODUCT. Just from reading this board I can see how consumers are getting fed up with inferior bread and cake. I have been in this business for 20 yrs. ( the last 2 yrs part of I.B.C. ) and the quality of the product just keeps getting worse and worse. Management should sit up and pay attention to the consumer complaints. If they buy our product and find it wanting, it won't matter what the packaging looks like. Concentrate on the PRODUCT not the packaging and maybe we will be a good company again!! |

NO NO On The HO HOs!!! We Want Chocodiles!
It is my intake that IBC does not want to listen it the consumer. Take a look...
Some old favorites are also getting makeovers. The company is testing caramel-flavored Hostess Ho Hos in the Northeast. So far, those results are impressive, increasing Ho Ho sales in that area by nearly 50%, Dirkes said.
This is a typical ploy by IBC to intoduce a product in our area, the Northeast, and do the follwing:
1. Artificially inflate percentage in sales and approval rating of a product. Why???
2. Line the sales, product Research & Development (R&D), and upper managements' pockets with bonuses and incentives made through a "ficticious victory" of a refaced product.
But the company has yet to decide whether to sell the product nationwide.
Hmmm.
Could those reasons be that it is a flop?
And that a nationwide market will only prove it?
"Overall, Ho Hos were already a pretty good seller," said Teresa Edington, a spokeswoman for West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw's Supermarkets, which is participating in the test. "Just having the extra product increased the sales."
She answered a question for all right there! "Just having the extra product increased the sales."
If it was Chocodiles, it would have "increased the sales."
Let this be a lesson to all.
For one, any new product introduced will have increased sales.
For two, any new product in a magnitude of say the size of the Northeast as opposed to an all out blitz of a product nationwide will stir the pot and have a spike in sales.
Case in point, me buying 8 boxes of Chocodiles on Flamingo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Would that be considered a spike in sales for that week? For that month?
I think so!

Dough woes
By: The Associated Press August 25, 2003
Twinkies, Wonder Bread becoming a tough sell for Interstate Bakeries.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - More than 70 years after the debut of the world famous Hostess Twinkie, the current baker of the treats is struggling as competitors including Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. eat away at the baked good industry's profits.
In July, Interstate Bakeries Inc., the nation's largest wholesale baker, reported its second consecutive quarterly loss. Company executives - who had previously blamed the shortfalls on dwindling snack cake sales and higher expenses - said they would no longer issue earnings guidance and refused to dismiss the possibility that they might stop paying a dividend to shareholders.
Analysts say the maker of such American classics as Twinkies and Wonder Bread has fallen behind in an increasingly competitive and costly business.
"I think they just need to make their products more contemporary," said analyst John McMillin of Prudential Equity Group Inc. "And that's obviously easier said than done."
Interstate Bakeries blames rivals for many of its woes. James Elsesser, Interstate's chief executive, says selling doughnuts, Twinkies and Ding Dongs has become harder because of "the Krispy Kreme phenomenon" - people are passing on Interstate Bakeries' sweets in favor of the doughnuts sold by the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based company, as well as other more gourmet-type products.
"Our cake business has lost both units and share as the Krispy Kreme phenomenon has affected the entire sweet goods industry," Elsesser said in a conference call with analysts in April.
But analysts say Interstate can't blame all its problem on Krispy Kreme. Store shelves have become crowded with candy bars, energy bars and miniature cookies and chips - and Interstate's product line lacks the pizzaz and innovation to stand out.
"It used to be their only competition was Little Debbie. Now they've got a host of snack alternatives," McMillin said.
Interstate's bread business has also suffered. Mitch Pinheiro, an analyst with Janney Montgomery Scott, said Interstate failed to recognize yet another market trend: the premium and super premium breads that have become popular with adults. While those breads cost only slightly more to make than ordinary bread, Pinheiro said, they sell for higher prices and are more profitable.
"They're behind the competition," Pinheiro said. "For the leading bread company in the country to have missed that trend is just inexcusable."
Company executives acknowledge the problems and say they're trying to find ways to fix them.
"The question is, how do we begin to sell products with greater appeal?" company spokesman Mark Dirkes said.
Interstate recently introduced two premium bread lines: Home Pride Country in the Midwest and Grandma Emilie's in the Northeast. The new products are designed to appeal to adults, particularly baby boomers, according to Dirkes. The company's marquee product, Wonder Bread, is more popular with children.
Some old favorites are also getting makeovers. The company is testing caramel-flavored Hostess Ho Hos in the Northeast. So far, those results are impressive, increasing Ho Ho sales in that area by nearly 50 percent, Dirkes said. But the company has yet to decide whether to sell the product nationwide.
"Overall, Ho Hos were already a pretty good seller," said Teresa Edington, a spokeswoman for West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw's Supermarkets Inc., which is participating in the test. "Just having the extra product increased the sales."
Interstate also is looking at lowering prices and improving some of its packaging.
"Snack cake in particular is an impulse item," Elsesser told analysts July 14, "and we're trying to improve the odds that our product will be noticed and picked up."
Then there are the higher costs Interstate has faced in recent quarters. The price for health care, energy and ingredients have gone up for businesses in general.
Interstate also has operational problems, Pinheiro said, including "an inefficient and high-cost distribution system."
As a result, the company is investing in technology that will allow it to know which routes and accounts are profitable. Interstate officials also are deciding whether to eliminate bakeries and thrift stores, weeding out some marginal products, and consolidating some delivery routes.
"It's a very difficult environment out there," Elsesser said at the end of the July conference call, "and we have a lot of obstacles to overcome."
Interstate Bakeries at a glance:
Headquarters: Kansas City, Mo.
Employs: 34,000.
Operates: 58 bakeries throughout the United States. Interstate delivers baked goods |

This evening I opened one of the Suzy Q's for a nice treat and to my dismay, on the third bite I bit down on a hard substance. I took the substance out of my mouth wondering what in the world it could be. It felt kind of rubbery so I ran water over it. I am an RN and evaluate alot of strange specimens. What I found was subcutaneous in my Suzy Q. If you do not know what that is.....IT IS SKIN!!!
Whomever produced the product never told his or her advisor about some skin that got scrapped off his/her body into the ingredience. After realizing what I was looking at, I literally "threw up" all my supper. I am very disgusted with this company and feel that you should know about my experience with this product. This is a true story and I have the piece of skin to prove it. I will never eat a Suzy Q again and will tell everybody I know about this horrible experience!!!

First, let me tell you how much I enjoy Millbrook Cracked Wheat bread. The texture and taste are wonderful. My concern, is that the last two loaves I bought, had rather large (big enough to poke 2 fingers through) air pockets, through as many as 5-6 slices. This is definitely not the quality I've been accustomed to finding in this product, and I thought they should be informed.
Having baked bread at home, I believe this problem arises when the dough is left to rise, and not punched down thoroughly, before left to rise again. I realize your baking process is probably automated, but hope there's some adjustment you can make, to eliminate this problem.
I will continue to use your product, and hope my future experiences will be free of concerns.

However, after purchasing the Funny Bones, and opening the box, there was NO coupon! In all honesty, I only purchased the Funny Bones for the Kids R Us coupon, and I was so disappointed that it wasn't there.
I think that stinks! Sounds like false advertising to me.

I purchased a 19.25oz package of the powdered sugar donuts from a Super Wal-Mart on August 23, 2003. I opened the package today to find that they are all moldy! The date on the package is Sept. 5. I was very disappointed as I purchased a package of these donuts a few weeks ago and was quite pleased. Being that I am pregnant and have not felt well, these donuts were hitting the spot. Well now they don't because they have made me lose my appetite. I thought you should know this.

I have worked with many drivers at US Food service for many years. Once IBC took over in Dec 02 till now how many drivers have been fired or quit becauce IBC treats its employees like S--T? Mgt. would say if you dont like this job quit but would they try to help there employee. There idea of fixing a problem at the bakery is fire an employee with any problem at all. Why did the company lose their credit rating and why did their stock lose at least 75% of its value. Bad Mgt ? You tell me because I dont understand how anyone with any common sents can stick for this company. |

We have purchased 2 packages of 12 Dolly Madison Plain Cake Donuts every week for years. That is at least a total of 104 packages of donuts a year.
The reason I am posting this is because of the quality of these donuts has drastically diminished and the price continues to rise. Over the past 3 months, especially. We have purchased donuts with white, hard, crunchy (like dough balls) mixed inside the donuts. The donuts are distorted in shape and size has drastically decreased as well. The raising agent used in these donuts has also decreased in quality. They use to be a true cake-like donut, now they are like sinkers.
A second reason is we now have to shop at least 2-3 grocery stores a week to find these donuts. When we complain to the managers of these stores, there reply is the "driver" leaves what he wants to leave irregardless of what sells.
Please check into these complains and bring back the Dolly Madison Plain Cake Donuts of approximately a year ago. They were a great quality donut

I recently switched my regular household bread from Bunny to Merita. In the past 60 days, I have had not one, but TWO separate loaves of bread where we found feces on the inside of the bag and attached to the bread itself. We are assuming that it belonged to a rat. Understand, that when we buy the bread from the grocery store, the bag is in tact, and the bread is fresh. Once it gets home, we place it into the freezer until we're ready to use it, at which time, we move it to the refrigerator. Therefore, these foreign objects could not come from anywhere else. I dismissed the first time it occurred, but I will discontinue buying your product if something is not done immediately. After all, the health and safety of my family is at risk. I was unable to find Merita Bread on the internet. The product in question this morning was Merita Old Fashioned White Bread. Purchased at Kash 'N Karry in St. Petersburg, Florida. Printed code on the bag: AUG30 46230 0826 #3 1030 |

We like to eat healthy and appreciate products that allow us to do so. We were interested in a healthy lunch and wanted to find some hamburger buns made from whole wheat. You offer a product you call Merita Lite but before I purchase it, I have a question. I read the ingredients and found both whole wheat and enriched white flour listed. As I believe enriched white flour has had most if not all of the healthy part of the wheat grain removed, I would like to know what percentage of your buns are whole wheat and what percent is enriched white flour.
Thanks for your time.

Comment: To the poster who asked about the total amount the employees received...this is from IBC's Annual Report (SEC form 10-K) "Other charges of $25,700,000 incurred in fiscal 2002 related to the closure of a bakery and the settlement of employment discrimination litigation." You can put the cost of the bakery closing at a little over $3,000,000 so the 11 employees received about $23,000,000. It was not divided equally as the most severally injured got more than others but no one received less than $1,000,000. |

Comment: Hey Brandy...IBC does not run this site but they are afraid to challenge the owners because it will only bring publicity and then the real firewrks will begin. Look at it this way---Statistics say for every complaint there are at least 10 other similar incidents and the consumer does not take the time to complain. With the Internet involved make that 25-30 incidents because everyone does not have this vehicle to air their complaints. Multiply that by the number of complaints posted on this board each month and you are only looking at about 10,000 incidents a month. IBC sales per year is over 3 billion dollars, what's a little moldy product here and there to this giant food company. |

I purchased a Hostess SuzyQ from the Race Track store up the street and I have to say in all my years of buying Hostess snack cakes this one was terrible. The cake was hard and the filling was not so fluffy. The UPC code on the bag was 450120 and I got it at the Race Track in Texas City, TX. the expiration dated on the package says Sep 8 with numbers above 1A07223. I thought you should know that your product was not satisfactory.

I was just browsing the internet when I came across this site. All I have to say is, I hope there's a board member or boss of some sort reading these. It appears that you have too many bosses, firings, and complaints and not enough cream filling, stores, and black employees. But, something tells me that a company that uses a message board for both the public and it's employees isn't reading the messages. And, you certainly aren't taking them seriously. |

I am a regular shopper at the outlet store in Mission Viejo, CA. I was sad to learn that they no longer have the frequent buyers card program.
The bakery thrift store just down the road another mile from this store offers frequent buyers club, coupons, discount days, and senior discounts. Unfortunately, even though I love this bread I will shop more frequently at this store because they seem to value my business more.
Please bring back a program for us frequent shoppers.

Last night I purchased a box of Hostess Cup Cakes. They box clearly
identified that the box contained 8 individually wrapped cup cakes. When
I opened the box this morning, there were only 6 individually wrapped cup
cakes. I examined the box and there was on evidence that the box had
ever been opened or tampered with.
Was this a mistake or do all the Hostess products contain misleading
information on their packaging? If this was a mistake, how can I be
assured that the next time I buy a Hostess product - or any other
Interstate Brands product - this won't happen again?

Hi, a few weeks ago I purchased a box of
Hostess Lights Low Fat Chocolate Cakes w/Creamy Filling.
I put them in the freezer.
Popped one in my son's insulated lunch bag one night. When he went to
eat it for lunch the next day it was covered in green mold.
The next day I put one in the bag in the morning. The same thing
happened but not as bad. He has an ice pack in the bag too.
I left one out on the counter and after it thawed I ate it and it was
fine.
So I guess from freezer to lunch bag doesn't work. You may want to put a
little notice on the packages.

I bought a package of hostes cupcakes with date Aug 25 2A07 219, two of the packages inside were not sealed, dried out and potentially contaminated, I will probably not be buying them in the future because that gave me 6 cupcakes for $3.49 and at almost 60 cents apiece. How is Little Debbie's able to keep their price so much lower than IBC? If IBC was a much superior quality like Godiva chocolates it might work, but my experience did not show that quality. |

Don't know if I have the correct website/address; I am contacting you regarding Beefsteak Pumpernickel Bread which lists "Interstate Brands Companies (General Office, Kansas City, MO 64111) on the package.
We really like the Beefsteak Pumpernickel; however, we only buy it occasionally. It gets moldy very quickly/easily . . . which we don't understand. For example, the package we have now says to "store at room temperature," and our home is air conditioned. We are finishing the loaf today (08/20/03), but the expiration date on the wrapper is August 25th, but the last few slices are moldy. Again, this is the reason we don't buy it very often. Otherwise, it is a good product -- just needs to be improved.

Comment: No one looses their job at IBC unless you don't do your job. The route sales driver that lost his job with IBC decided to do a shoddy job of delivering product to the stores (thank goodness the customer wouldn't tolerate it and let them know) and lost his job because he was just plain negligent and thought he could get paid for it. Even the union wouldn't represent him because he has no basis for a complaint against the company. Anyone can file a lawsuit, but no one should have to employ a deceitful employee. IBC is a fair employer and you EARN your money. That's nothing new. |

Comment: It is quite embarrassing to be waiting at a stop light and the person next to you hollars out about how your killing them with fuel fumes do to such poor maintanence. It appears to be next to impossible to get any repair work done on our route trucks unless it absolutely won't go. The Depo I work out of does over 1.6 million in annual sales, yet only one truck has been replaced in the last twenty years! I guess nothing matters anymore except the profit. |

Will They Throw the Book at Her?
A woman in Kent, Wash., "took offense Tuesday" when someone "looked past her" to ask a supermarket employee "when a new batch of Zingers snack cakes were going to be put on the shelf," reports the King County Journal:
"Don't you talk around me," said the 34-year-old Kent woman police described as "rather large."
She then began whacking the Zingers customer about the head. When a manager tried to intervene, he was pelted with a barrage of Twinkies and other assorted snack cakes.
The woman also assaulted arriving Kent police officers, who suffered minor injuries and booked the woman into the Kent jail.
Of course, if she has a good lawyer, he'll get her off on the "Twinkie defense."

When the box reads 20 mini devil's food cakes with center filling does that mean 20 mini ones or 20 packages of mini ones. I know this may seem like a stupid question but I have openned a box that contained 8 wrappings of two per wrap which would make it 16 total mini devils food cake and so somewhere either I am missing a couple or so and I think this should be look into. |

Comment: I supposedly was written up for a store running out of bread at 2:40 p.m. in the afternoon. Upon arrival the next day that same store had about 60 loaves on the shelf. I have been put on "indefinite suspension" with a wife & 3 small children. This puts me with no hope of being able to draw any type of compensation & no promise of a job. I do not see how a company can expect a man to go back to a store at the end of a work day to pull up & not be compensated ESPECIALLY if he happens to have to be the caregiver for the children in the afternoon & evening hours! BE REAL!!! Supervisors could be more cooperative with their salesman & help them instead of just being the BIG DOG in charge, especially if they live only a short distance from a store. I come from a family that has been in sales & have a father & father in law that knows what it means to help their fellow employees not just be a jerk. It sad when sometimes the only reason a person gets a supervisor position is because he knows how to kiss #####. |

Comment: Sometimes I think this may be a company run website but I looked up the registered owner on the Internet and found out it is owned by a guy who was fired from our sister bakery in Los Angeles several years ago. What I do not understand is why don't IBC buy this from this guy. The last we heard about him is that he has fallen on hard times and is trying to scrape together a living by detailing cars. For them to allow all these negative comments about our company to be posted is beyond my comprehension. And I see they are increasing in number every month. |

Comment: my comment is that the company is always stressing safety, and well it should. but has any one looked at our fleet a majority of them are not fit to drive and they are constantly breaking down. some are even unsafe to drive and some one is going to get hurt or worse and it will wind up costing the company more than it would if they were to replace the older vehicle than continue on patching them up. and when a salwsman is put in a unsafe vehicle due to the fact that that is all there is this really concerns me and a lot of other people.i know it cost a lot to replace these older vehicle but at what cost do we place on someone getting injured serriously or even killed because of a vehicle that has out lived its time. |

I think it is funny, that everyone who complains will not leave their name. If I was to complain, I would want it to be credible and leave my name! And if everyone is having such problems, maybe it is the store that you get them at. Have you ever thought of returning the product? If you have enough energy and time to go on-line and complain, get your self in the car, go back to the store and demand a refund. It is obvious you want to yell at someone. I've never had a problem with IBC, but if I did that is what I would do. I just stubbled to this site working on research paper. I had no idea people were so lazy, I guess to many Twinkes will do that to you. |

I'm not sure if this is a complaint resource or not but today Aug. 14th 2003 I purchased a lemon pie at the 7-11 store in West Salem, Oregon and I was getting set up to start my work day and I was eating and kept eating and it was half empty and when I finally found some filling it was nearly the consistency of rubber I checked the date and it was todays date Aug. 14th so I was not a happy person I buy a lot of products and thought you should know because it was bad, very stale! |

To whom it may concern:
I have been a satisfied consumer of all of the Hostess products for many years. While living in Minnesota, I purchased numerous Hostess products, including Ding Dongs. Quite some time ago, I recall them being wrapped in aluminum foil, and later in a white plastic wrap. I was always satisfied with the quality of your product.
We have lived in Albuquerque, NM for almost a year now. I purchased a large box of Ding Dongs at Sam's Club. They were wrapped in aluminum foil and we found them to be quite dry, and not what we have been accustomed to. I did not return them, but we did not eat them. The expiration date on the box showed that they were fresh.
I felt that this may have been a fluke, so I just purchased a smaller box at Walmart and found the same problem. My husband took one bite, and refused to eat them.
I feel that the foil does not keep them as fresh as the other wrapping that was previously used. Also, we were wondering if the recipe had changed. They just are not the same as the delicious Ding Dongs that we recall. The cupcakes that we purchased recently were very fresh and good. They did seem smaller however.
I just wanted to make you aware of our dissatisfaction with Ding Dongs.

Hi,
thought you should know that yesterday I purchased a loaf of Merita lite loaf, and when I opened it today, it was completely moldy. I looked at the expiration date and it was 8/06. I didn't look at the date when I bought it because I have never had problems with this product before. It's too much trouble and embarassing to take back a loaf of bread, but I thought you would want to know that your stock is way out of date. (This is going to sound so stupid, but the mold had formed a white film on the clear portion of the wrapper--I thought it was the condensation because the bread was fresh!) |

My family has always enjoyed your Hostess products, especially the
chocolate cup cakes. However, the last box of 8 that I bought had two
cakes with so little cream in them, that we were VERY disappointed :(
:( Come on! The creamy filling is the best part. Was this just a bad
batch, or are you really cutting back on the filling?? The picture on
the box depicts a generous creamy filling. My cup cakes had just a dot
of cream in them. The code on the box is : 00212 B and I bought them at
the Waterford Michigan Meijers store. You say your product has a
Quality Guarantee. I was not satisfied with this product. Whydid you not put an address and phone number on the box to back up the guarantee?

I recentl purchased a package of 8 Merita hamburger buns. Upon opening
the package I noticed what appeared to be dirt on the side of one of the
buns. There were also granules of dirt on the other 3 (top layer). My
only conclusion was that someone had dropped them on the floor and
picked them up and placed them back in the package. The date on the
side of the package is Aug. 23 & the number next to it is 46B22.
Needless to say I found this very disconcerting that someone would do
that or the chance that your facility is that dirty. Regardless I will
have reservations about purchasing your products in the future.

there is a new interstate plant that bakes bread & distributes hostess cakes that opened in las vegas, nevada on dec. 12th 2002. i know because i helped get the union in there and i was fired for my efforts. i used to be a route sales driver. i worked for us food service for 3 years until interstate brands took over, interstate brands was the most poorly managed company i ever worked for. they were always looking for ways to fire you instead of helping there employees. i hope they learn a lesson when they loose the federal law suit i have pending against them. |

To Whom It May Concern:
On Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, while on my last break at work, I purchased a Hostess Cherry Fruit Pie. While eating this Hostess snack, I bit into a pit, which caused severe pain to my last tooth on my upper right side.
I have read the package thouroughly, and there is no statement anywhere on this package warning me that there may be "pits" found in this product.
Since then I have had a bad toothache!!
The product package states that it expires on Aug. 21. There is also a number under this date. That number is 51B 214.
If this tooth continues to bother me and I seek dental treatment on this tooth, is IBC going to reimburse me for this injury.
I have in my possession the package the fruit pie came in, along with the pit that I removed from my mouth. Does anyone know what this company normally does in this situation?
Any help or response with this matter would be greatly appreciated!!

We went to Meijer's in Flint, Michigan today, and my teenage son picked out some bread du jour breadsticks for a snack. They were $1.99.
When we got home, my son informed me that though it said there were eight breadsticks in the package, there was only seven in the package. The bar code number on the package is: 45000 14025 7. We don't know if this is an oversight just for our package or if there were others affected but when you spend $1.99 for eight sticks, you expect eight.
Just thought you would be interested in knowing this. You can bet the next time we buy them we will do some counting.

I recently purchased a box of Hostess Powdered Donuts at a conveneince store here in my town. After biting into one I realized it tasted wierd, my daughter tried one as well and said the same. The donuts had a taste of oil paint, was very wierd and very bad !!
I looked at the box and noticed that they were 7 days passed the sale date and also on the side of the box where the price was there was a stamp stating 2 /$5.00. I paid $2.69 for the box of donuts. The 2/$5 price was covered with a sticker so that it was not easily visible.
I have purchased these donuts many times and enjoyed them. This was very frustrating and disappointing. I am not sure why they would have such a foul taste, they also had the odor of paint as well..
I am not sure why or how they would aquire this taste.

My son was eating a Ding Dong on Tuesday. He opened the sealed individually wrapped package from the box and began to eat. He noticed something moving. A live worm was in the cake. It was a small white worm moving all around. Disgusting! How can something like this happen? Certainly, I didn't want him to open another package. Unfortunately, he had eaten all but two before. It is revolting to think perhaps he could have ingested worms in the other cakes. How often does this sort of thing happen, and why? I am not sure I can ever buy Hostess again. |

In early July I purchased a package of chocolate Zingers and a
package of raspberry Zingers to serve to a church group of teens. The
chocolate ones were "wiped out" but only one was taken from the raspberry
box. I brought home the box with the remaining 11 cakes and during the
rest of the month, I ate them myself. Just wanted you to know that out of
the 11 I ate, there was only one cake that had creme filling (as indicated
on the package) - the rest were just plain cake (with the raspberry
"icing"). I'm wondering if there was a problem when that batch was being
produced or if it's an ongoing problem. I don't plan to buy another box to
find out (don't want to be disappointed again). The info "stamped" on the
bottom front of the box said "G53177" and the "last sale date" was July 28.
Thanks for your attention. |

To whom it may concern,
I just purchased 2 boxes of Drakes Funny Bones and Coffe Cakes. The Coffee Cakes have little or no crumb topping and are kind of hard...almost stale one would think. The use by date is August 18. I am very dissapointed with this purchase. Dont you have a Quality Control department that would prevent this from happening?
I can say, I dont think I will be purchasing any of these products in the future.

I recently purchased Hostess Apple Spice Cupcakes and I did not like them. They had a banana taste and the icing was not very good. I did like the cream filling. I could not return it to the store simply because I did not like the taste so I have been eating them just not to throw them away. I would not buy them again.

To the poster who claims he is Consumer Affairs in Kansas City, Missouri: Kim, like other consumers would like to air her complaints like thousands of other IBC consumers. You tell her to write the address on the package, there is no address on the package!!! Or she may try through the company sponsored website at www.planettwinkie.com. ARE YOU KIDDING? WHERE IS THE REAL IBC SITE?? WE DO NOT WANT A CARTOON SHOW!! PUT A TELEPHONE NUMBER ON THE PACKAGES!! FIX THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR BAKERIES, KIM IS NOT INTERESTED IN A COUPON THAT ENTITLE HER TO A FREE PACKAGE OF YOUR MOLDY PRODUCT!!! |

There is an ongoing demand for Hostess Chocodiles on the East Coast of the USA. Why don't you make Chocdiles again on the East Coast? I called up Hostess Customer "Dis"-service and asked about buying Hostess Chocodiles in bulk from the Kansas City, Missouri plant. They told me that it will not be fresh and will spoil during delivery. I flew to Las Vegas, Nevada and bought 8 boxes of Chocodiles at a 7-11 on Flamingo Road. I transported them back via Continental Airlines. Hopefully, to your surprise, the Chocodiles were not harmed! They are all stamped with the Kasnas City, MO baking address. (A long trip for Chocdiles!!) Now, doing the math, it was a longer trip going from Kansas City to Las Vegas to New Jersey then to have been delivered from KC to NJ. So, stop with the "bull" about freshness and start producing Chocodiles on the East Coast!
The old slogan for Chocodiles was, " It takes a while to have a Chocodile". Boy, that is true! |

My goodness, what does it take to get a response from Hostess? In fact, why even bother to have a "Contact Us" menu on the web site?! I have sent 3 emails (beginning over 2 weeks ago) and have not received a response yet!! I would like to think that someone takes the time to read and respond to concerns pertaining to your products. The "Satisfaction Guaranteed" & "Quality Pledge" of your products, apparently mean nothing without a toll-free number available so that you may be contacted. |

Comment: I operate equipment that faults out 10, 20, 30 times a day. I have to open a 480 box to reset the equipment. This problem has been going on for a year! Why does management allow this to happen. Every supervisor knows of this problem but nothing gets done. They don't care if I get electricuted. I am not a mechanic but I'm scared enough to stay away from the hissing electrical terminals. Should I contact OSHA? |

My reason for writing today is because of a bad experience that my family and friends had last week end. My husband and I purchased 3 boxes of twinkies and 4 boxes of Suzy Q's we were going on a picnic and figured that snack cakes would be much less of a mess then to make a cake.
Everyone got finished eating their regular food and was eating on the snack cakes when the children started complaining about how dry and stale they were. Some of the adults opened some of the cakes and found that the children were right. One box of Twinkies out of all that we had purchased were fit to eat the rest of them were so dry and stale we had to throw them away but not until after I took them to the store to find out if I could get my money back and they told me that the Expriation date was not until the 13th of August so there was nothing wrong with them. I don't care if the expiration wasn't until the 13th of August they were not any good aparrently they had been in a real hot place or something but I just wanted you to know the problem I had with those cakes
Thank you for taking time to listen to me.

We understand they are discontinuing the Hostess Lights Low Fat Cup Cake.
Why? We have purchased these over the years in large quantities because of our cholesterol. With all the emphasis on weight/cholesterol control, I cannot understand why they would discontinue an item that gives the public a choice to enjoy your products without worrying about excess fat/cholesterol.
Kraft Foods has just announced that they are coming out with Low Fat products!!! Little Debbie has Low Fat products that we have been purchasing since they discontinued the Low Fat cupcakes and Twinkies
We'd rather have the Hostess Cupcakes and Twinkies as they are delicious. Please let us know if they plan to re-enter the market with Low Fat Products. Many of our friends buy low fat foods and have also mentioned that this company does not offer us a choice.
Please let us know what their intentions are. Thank you very much.

Last Friday I purchased a box of your DingDongs. This is the third box of DingDongs that I have purchased in the last few months. The first two were less than bad but liking your product in the past, I decided to give you a second and third chance. Upon opening, once again, I find these tasty little cakes lacking in ANY flavor, dry, stale, with NO actual filling to speak of. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!??? These little darlings used to be a real treat to eat, now the price has sky rocketed and the taste has gone out the door. I will never buy them again until you change your God awful recipe back to the good one! What are you using to put the cream in anyway?? An eye dropper??

Just recently, I purchases a 4 pack. box of Hostess Mini Muffins, my favorite taste of choice is chocolate chip. This box was the standard 9.6 oz net weight for retail $3.49 per box. When I dove in on Saturday morning I opened the box to find that there were only 3 packages of muffins in side. Normally, I would let it go and forgive but because I'm passionate about these muffins, I want my fair share. At least I want someone to know about it.
The UPC on the package is 4500000215
bought at Wal-Mart in Pine Bluff, Arkansas
on 8/1/03. |

On Aug 1, 2003 I purchased a 1 lb. package of Beefsteak Pumpernickel Bread at the Dominick's store in Lake Zurich.
We had it for dinner that evening, for sandwiches the next day, and when we went to make sandwiches on Sunday, Aug. 3 the centers of the remaining pieces were growing mold. It may have been on the other pieces but too small to notice. The bread tasted fine was kept in a breadbox and appeared very fresh but we could only use half the loaf.

I purchase a loaf of Beeksteak rye once a week .I recently purchased a loaf of Beefsteak Hearty rye bread and it was darker than usual and not as fresh as the bread usually is. I have been willing to pay the premium for your bread as opposed to buying the store brand because it remained fresh longer and was more flavorful. However after my last purchase I have started buying the store brand again. Maybe I will try your bread again in the future but for now I will give the cheaper brands a chance.

I purchased your funnybones which are an all time favorite of mine and now my sons. We could not find a box in the supermarket so purchased 2 bonus packs (with 3) at our local mini mart (Congers Little Deli). I placed them in freezer as usual to chill them and my son could not wait so began to eat one His words were "Mom taste this it tastes like poison!"
Of coarse I did not taste it but checked the date it was Aug 01...Now yesterdays date was Aug 1st .Or does 01 mean 2001 while this is 2003. I'm very concerned first off by the date and secondly by the foul taste and I forgot to mention a strange smell. |

To Whom It May Concern:
I have recently purchased one of the 20 count packages of Drake's Mini Ring Dings, finding a count of only 19. One package, which I still posses is tightly sealed containing only one of the mini's in it. This has happened before and I let it go thinking it was a one time thing. Apparently not, seeing I have yet purchased another package with the same occurrence.
I have loved these products since I was a child, especially the original (large sized) Ring Ding. Too bad you couldn't bring the original size Ring Ding back, if not regularly, now and then.
The mishaps have not turned me away from any of their products.
I'm sure these things happen and I am glad I could bring it to your attention.
Thank you.

The employees at the company where I work have stopped eating Drakes Apple Fruit Pies from the vending machine because someone looked at the "Best Before Date" and it appears to read "Aug 31 99". I need to know if it says what I think it says. There is something that looks like a serial number printed above the date that reads "206564". Can someone shed some light on this? |

To whom it may concern. I have been a fan of your Bear Claw pasteries for some time. Your company or bakeries, has chosen to make your pasteries smaller in size but sale them for more. I do not understand why this happens. Is it money or are you trying to lose a good customer? I will no longer buy your product or any other product you sponsor. I chose your product over fresh baked donuts that are available, but no longer. |

Today is Monday, August 4, 2003. One of our drivers, Ronnie Cobb had a terrible accident and died. Below is what happened. Please pray for his family while they grieve. If you would like to pass along a card, send it to Butternut Bread Bakery 747 W 5th Street Cincinnati, OH 45203.
You can also get the webpage at the bottom of this comment. Thanks!
Despite his dramatic rescue this morning, the bread truck driver who flipped his rig in a traffic-snarling wreck near downtown Cincinnati died of his injuries.
Ronald A. Cobb, 41, of Alexandria, was impaled through his abdomen by a piece of metal when his truck full of thousands of loads of Butternut white bread wobbled and tipped over on the on-ramp from Columbia Parkway east onto Interstate 471.
He was trapped in the cab for about a half hour before being taken by Air Care helicopter to University Hospital, where he died.
The 9:41 a.m. crash closed I-471 traffic in both directions for hours. The ramp from northbound I-71 reopened about 2:30 p.m., but the ramp from southbound I-71 remained closed.
"When he came out and was still conscious, it just blew me away," said District 1 Fire Chief Anson Turley, who added today's accident was the most difficult extraction he's seen in 16 years with the department. "I thought for sure he'd die at the scene."
Cobb told investigators his air brakes went out. Witnesses said the vehicle was driving too fast and began to wobble near the start of the on-ramp. He hit the concrete barrier on the left side of the curved entrance ramp, Cincinnati police said, then flipped.
"It looked like he was sliding on ice," said Jeff Mahavey of New Richmond, who was driving a red Chevrolet Cavalier on the ramp onto 471 off Fort Washington Way when the truck nearly toppled on top of him. "They said he was going so fast he almost flipped over on up the bridge."
When the truck flipped, it became wedged between the two on-ramps. If the truck had flipped earlier on the ramp, the truck could have fallen some 50 feet to a parking lot between the two on-ramps.
Loaves of bread spilled onto the interstate, and the upside-down cab of the truck crumpled like an accordion. Blood flowed down the side of the cement ramp.
Rescue workers had to first stabilize the wobbly tractor trailer, then cut away pieces of the cab to extract the driver. Officials closed traffic on both sides of the bridge during the extraction because the bridge shook and bounced.
Everyone knew their job, and they got out there and did it," Turley said. "It wasn't too panicked out there."

I do work for Interstate Brands and yes I can see and taste a differance in all the product. But! there are alot of things that can make this and other product stale or taste bad. Such as the heat the temp.in a store can cause the product to get hard or even mold. So don't blame it all on us. Thanks |
