RE: GetHectorOut Campaign
Don't waste your time, energy, money or other precious resources against Hector. He is really nothing but a conspirator, bought and paid for by his master, the Teamsters Union. Look around you at the number right to work States. If you work in California you are almost locked in by these States. It is not a problem of getting rid of Hector. You have to git rid of "Hitler." This would be the entire Teamters Union! Spend your money, talents and labor on something worthy of it. Create and support an entity designed to destroy the Teamsters Union forever. The survlvial America, as those who labor there know it, absolutely demands it! Now get to WORK and good luck. I will be supporting you. |

There was a Wonder Bread outlet store in Springfield, OR. I shopped there frequently. It closed a few months ago. I bought some bread there that I would like to find. There were 2 different ones that I specifically enjoyed. One was called Hearth Old Fashioned Crushed Oat Bread and the other was a similar shaped long oval loaf, but it was very dark and had a sort of a sweet taste to it. Can you tell me where I may find some now in the Springfield, Oregon area? |

I just read the latest Delta/Pilots Union article on-line which disclosed a pact was reached to stave off bankruptcy. The Union agreed to give back about 50% in wages, hours and working conditions for the next five years. Now the Union is asking their members (the pilots) to vote on it. My question is why the need for the vote.
You can bet your life on the fact that corporate level and union officials are not going to lower their wages one dime. There will be no restructuring of the amount of union membership dues, inititation fees, late fees and the like based upon these lower wages and benefits either.
If Delta cannot cut it in then why does their workforce have to sacrifice and subsidize Delta without recompense?
The same goes for the Pilots Union. Why ask your membership to subsidize your union! Why ask them to vote for a contract they had no voice in forming!
There used to be a day in America that only the strong survived. Now we no longer vote for the best candidate for public office. We now cast our vote against the worst candidate.
It's is all bullshit! So don't try to tell the American Worker that you care about them or this great Nation. Tell us the truth and then let us decide if you are really the one to lead us. If you cannot run your union or business then do not expect us to care for you and your welfare. Get a real job and quit asking for special treatement. |

Its great to live in a free country. When I see people complain about the company they work for , they have to stop and think that they spend there day working for them. If they are so smart compared to there co-workers and bosses, I would think it would be easy from them to start there own company and make the big money that they should get for being so smart. To just complain is a waste of time. To come up with good ideas would help the company. Its to easy to just complain. |

To whom it may concern.....I have been a consumer of the Dolly brand dohnuts for quite some time. To put it bluntly my wife thinks I'm a Dolly dohnut addict. I was suprised recently when I opened a bag of frosted dohnut gems and found a coupon worth 45 cents towards a purchase of a gallon of milk. Now at first I thought this is a good thing. After pondering this for a few seconds, I realized this is pretty rediculous. Why would anybody buy two bags of this product to end up with a net savings of 8 cents considering that to save the 45 cents on the gallon of milk you have to spend 37 cents on a postage stamp. I wonder what genuius or genuises came up with this. I believe this will be the icing on the cake or dohnut if the case may be for me to discontinue my purchasing of this product or for that matter any associated products, (Wonderbread, Twinkies )etc. I know this may seem trivial to some, but quite honestly I take as an insult. My wife will be glad to know that I no longer will be hooked and will take my business elsewhere..... |

We have purchased a box of HoHo's with the following info on the box front:
JUN.26 6815 $5.58/lb 16:57 $3.39 at our local Food Lion store.
Our children complained that they tasted "funny". I bit one and almost threw up from the taste. The aftertaste was almost like alcohol. The HoHo was completely sealed when I opened it.
I have six and 1/2 HoHo's left. Would you like me to send them somewhere?

Today, Monday I went to the Pick N Save on Sunset Dr in Waukesha WI.
I purchased a Hostess HoHo from the shelf. Thinking it said Last sale date Nov. 5
and numbers underneath the date 000281 it would be good. When I got home and opened it the chocolate frosting fell off and the cake was dry, dry, dry. I was afraid to eat it.
Two of the contents were vertical and one horizontal in the package. This also alarmed me because usually they are all in a row. I didn't return it to the store because it would cost me more to drive there than to write this letter.
Is something wrong with this product, I ask? |

I HAVE WORKED FOR YOUR COMPANY FOR 15 YEARS NOW. ALL THE CHANGES THAT ARE BEING MADE (ROCKY MOUNT BAKERIE), SEEM TO BE SOME OF THE FOOLISED I HAVE EVER SEEN. HOW CAN YOU COME, GUT THE TRUCKS FOR THE NEW TRAYS, THEN TELL THE DRIVERS "YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR ON LOAD OR PAY FOR ANY THING MISSING" MY DEPOT HAS 2 OF THE WORST LOADERS THERE ARE. MY 13 YEAR OLD CAN COUNT BETTER THEN THE BOTH COMBINED. WE USE TO HAVE 1 LOADER. SEEMES TO ME WE ARE PAYING DOUBLE TO GET THE JOB DONE. IS THIS THE REASON WE FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY RATHER THEN ATKINS? ONE MIGHT EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES! I HAVE BEEN A BREAD SALESMAN FOR 22 YEARS, DID WE FORGET ALL THE REAL WAYS TO BUILD A ROUTE. WE NOW HAVE BOXES,( THAT HAVE TO BE THROWN AWAY) WITH OUR PRODUCT IN THEM, IS THAT NOT PURE WASTE. WE PRINT ALL THIS END OF DAY STUFF, THAT IS THROWN AWAY AND HAS NO MEANING WHAT SO EVER, NO ONE READS IT! IS THAT NOT PURE WASTE? WE NEED SOMEONE IN THE FEILD LOOKING AT ALL THE WASTE. To Hostess Customer Service Dept.
I purchased two boxes of donates on Oct. 23, 2004 which were small powdered donuts and a box of Crumb Donettes. On Oct. 24, I returned the crumb donuts which had a date of Nov.4, 2004 because they sere not stale but had absolutely no moisture in them and were very hard. This was done at Albertsons Groc. Store. They had no later dated boxed so I went to Ralphs, another groc. store and purchased one that had a date of Nov. 8, 2004. They also had very little moisture to them and the same day, the powdered ones were the same way.
These I did not return because of Grandkids getting into them and would feel foolish to return only half of a box of each.
On the box, it invited consumer comments but no place does it tell you where to send your comments to so this is the closest place that I could find on the Internet. I would believe there is a problem as to why the boxes seemed to be of a earlier possible date on them rather that what the box states and this seems to be the problem at both stores.
This is my comment to you and I believe that I am one that answered the customer comment on the box. How many other people do not take the time to answer and buy another brand next time instead???

IBC stock prices (ibciq) are headed down, down and down into the toilet, one more time! This time, it is predicted, they are down for the last count never to rise again! Call it the last Act! The final curtain call or whatever. Our goose is cooked. The Grand Reaper has appeared, destroyed all there was left to destroy at IBC and left to attend a grand Halloween party held in his honor. |

It is indeed sad news to hear about the passing of Mr. Doughboy. I knew him and his family well. However, he was always complaining about the heat. He never liked to be alone. He always liked to be in a crowded area with several dozens of his close family members and friends. What we called a barbeque, he called a bake off. He had a lot of children too. He referred to them as "a bakers dozen." Said he got the idea from seeing two old movies. One was about a war and the other was about cowboys. He always said that being popular with your friends was more about how you tasted than how you looked! |

I recently received this news, and I want to share it with you.
It is with the saddest heart that I must pass on the following news.
Please join in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.
The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, who has one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
You may return to your disgruntled whining and finger pointing at this time...... |

The Frosted Honey Bun has always been one my favorits to snack on, day or night and lately it's size has been reduced, or it seams as it has, It is looking much smaller in its size even with the wraper on. Its so called 3.4 oz it is noticably smaller, but is freashness has stayed the same. I will now think twice about a simple but tasty Honey Bun for a snack at $1.20 plus tax is not worth it anymore. thank you for your time Eduardo in Chicago |

Comment: To Mr. Alvarez: We've been told here in SoCal that it's back to basics.Well it is'nt,it's back to the same old BS.All mid-high level mngmt. care about is their bonuses. One of the reasons southern california is so profitable is their mandate not to spend a nickle in the co. future. All this will eventually catch up to them. One of these days all these old trucks and all these old printers will break down at the same time.As you know Mr. Alvarez it takes money to make money. You can't ever grow as a company if you continue to keep it down.Down in this area, the last few years we've continued to cut routes to make the route avg. look larger. But that is the lazy way to improve your route avg. That's like me having a$200 per store avg. and then getting rid of my 10 lowest volumne stores and then bragging that I now have a $400 store avg.The way to do it is to have better promotions ,new and inovative store racks, new products, etc. At route level, this is not a hard business. All we ask from mngnt. is the support.I've been working for this co. 20+ years, the weakest link in my opinion has been the account reps at chain and c-store level. It's time to bring in new blood at this position. Looks like all they do is call in the next promo to the buyers and tell you to do your best. |

Mr. Alvarez: Seems there is just too many chiefs and not enough Indians - Too bad your visit wasn't a surprise to Lenexa - You should have seen the PC Leads running around preparing for your visit. They brought product in for thrift store...stocked lunchroom with snacks (shelves are now bare!) -cleared cube's - actually made employees move. |

Comment: Same stuff here day in and day out
Continental Vs. Interstate
NOW its hourly Vs. Salary
Since the concept of shared profit centers (wonder with Interstate plants) say its not true that the Interstate plants have had the most BS going on i.e. Glendale Vs. Pomona, you can see it in every facet of the operations thats why one IBC is such a hard sell . This needed to happen back in 1995 not now in 2004 the running of one company like it was 2 sepererate companies competing against each other
for market share ,shelf space and new equipment ...... Ralston better get rid of that 49% share you hold while its still worth 3 bucks a share .
Also why is it that when you go to a Wonder Plant most all employees are
Caucasian is this just a coincedence
Shame on you IBC this is not normal for a company this size not being as diverse as it should be something smells here!
Well mom always said if it smells like a fish and looks like a fish it must be a darn fish.

Comment: Why My Company is going under ///
by King Don the Routeman............
On a Hostess Route 13 years, Rural route to timbucktoo and hell's half-acre. 12-14hrs a day. Seen and done it all, wore the polyester and the tie, got the mini muffin t-shirt. Here are the reasons......
IBC cannot hold it's own in bakery profits. We need a big brother company like Ralston to pull us out of the ditch from time to time.
Stupid mistakes... lets start with the latest one. Shreks / fairly good idea nice packaging falls around the Halloween holiday ..support with Wal-mart endcaps. But wait, the boxes won't stay together. Get those opened boxes off that endcap right now. (yes sir) How about some glue?
Lets go to donut bites, No lets spend millions on donut bites and fill the branches and dumpsters full of em. SOS different packaging.
And lets not forget Bakers Inn, what a cluster bomb. How many millions just to produce it?
Now get this Walmart in it's smaller super centers has just nailed Hostess and Little Debbie with a new modular and in the best customer IBC has we have no space for cakes. Thank you IBC account managers Thank you Wal-Mart .
And don't forget to use the Smith System. |

Comment: Hank Richards, how about eliminating the lease cars and not stocking the wonder bread lunch rooms with twinkies and other cakes, quit giving away pens and other freebees when we attend meetings. Just think of the money we could save. Obviously you haven't informed Mr. Alvarez that the non-union company people already have less benifits then the union employees. All the H.R. department are a total joke, why don't someone speak up for us non-union workers cause you A-holes don't. I guess I need to stop caring and not go into work on my day off. Or if I go to a meeting on my day off I need to take the next day off? I betcha a lot of managers give that little extra. NOT NO MORE. |

Wonder Cinnamon Swirl bread is delicious. The problem is you can hardly find it anywhere. The delivery guys leave so few loaves that it sell out the same day. When I get to the stores at 4:00pm, it is all gone. They leave enough Cinnamon Raisin bread to feed an army.

A loyal but unhappy customer. |

Also for nonunion employees no more company basic cotribution to your retirement. Another reason why you union fellows should consider becoming nonunion company supervisors. Should you need to know what lies ahead for you as an employee of IBC and subject to Chapter 11 rules look towards todays (10-23-04) at post-gazette.com article (Greater pressure directed at US Airways unions) for wage and pension cuts at IBC. It's called an 1113 (c) motion in Chapter 11 context. It's will soon be appearing at your local IBC bakery employee bulletin board and in your mail box soon! |

Hello,
I recently was introduced to "Country Hearth Stone Ground Wheat Bread" and it was instantly our favorite! This bread was purchased and given to us in Grand Bay, Alabama (Mobile County) and I realize there is a bakery located in Birmingham, Alabama.
Our home is in the northeast part of the state, (Valley Head, Alabama) and we were wondering the nearest store location to us that this particular bread is distributed?
Also, if there is not a store within a reasonable distance, can we ask the manager of our nearest grocer to have this bread delivered by his vendor provided he is already delivering other IBC products?
Thank you in advance.

Comment: This just in.Management had a big meeting on thursday. They said we are going back to do business the way we did it before. From now on if you clock in 7 min. before or 7 min. later than your posted time you will charged with a tardy.5 tardies in 90 days and your out. These kind of ideas will surely help IBC out of the hole. Remember "it's always the rsr's fault." |

The guy has been a fraud all his life, but don't take it from me,read up on this guy and you'll see what im talking about. His own people can't say anything positive about him, they just keep knocking Kerry and his wife. "Bread Du Jour" Cracked Wheat Rolls. My wife and I bought these at a Safeway store yesterday, baked them per directions - and to our dismay discovered they were afflicted with some kind of "chemical", "paint-like" smell/flavor. Very off. There was no indication of an expiration date - so I wonder if this bad odor/flavor is the result of extra preservatives?
Too bad. We used to like 'em. |

AMEN.BROTHER///////// THIS IS A RECOPY OF THIS POST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment:
I think this whole bankruptcy is just a scam to get the blue collar workers (bakery, routesalesmen, truck drivers and any other union workers) to give up some of their salary, commissions, medical, retirement, etc. If this Co. owes too much there are alot of assests they can sell to get out from all of their debt. The cash flow is there they just don't manage it right.Close your thrift stores, close unprofitable plants, get rid of some of your mid and upper management ,sell some real estate. Have your routesalesman run 4day work weeks.(same volumne,20% less gas, wear and tear on your vehicles).Take co. cars away from mid and lower management types.(they can use them when they get to work but not keep them at home so mom can go shopping ).But they won't do none of these ideas, they will run things the same way and make us pay for their mis-management with cuts to our wages and benefits. This the american corporate way.

Comment: everyone,
Tony Alvarez and his group have only been on the job for 3 weeks, so we need to let them do what they are here to do. If we want to save IBC then we need to send honest, reasonable suggestions for products, promotions and a way to implement them. Yes, he did request an advance that was summarily denied, but his money comes on the backend of a successful IBC coming out of chapter 11. To Knoxville, Michigan does recognize chapter 11, so please only speak to what you know. To those who think that President GWB is responsible for this mess, ask yourself, who voted for NAFTA, gave China MFN status and also wants China to be allowed into the WTO. Sen. Kerry's wife has reaped millions from Heinz selling off parts of its business during the CLINTON administration, and shipping those jobs to Mexico. The same thing happened here at Kellogg during the same period. ( Ask the local Keebler driver to see the outside carton of Kellogg's latest snacks. The cartons all say made in Mexico.) The problem wasn't a lack of profitability, it was because there wasn't enough profit. (6 % ROI when plant was closed) The largest single shareholder for Kellogg is the employee retirement fund, so it was the employees own fault they lost their jobs. |

Comment: Ok, the continental people say its IBC's fault and vice versa. All i no is that the top directors are old continental and ralston people am i wrong? With that said blunders were made buying other co. at a bad time plant intergration is horrid and building 2 super plants, one is at 30% capacity and cut 69 routes and the other is not much better not to mention the host of other problems we have.Id bet that the goal is to get down to around 40 some plants. The plants that are close to each other would be the ones to look at to were the other plant could pick up there production along with closing and or selling off plants that are not making money nor at there potential,it will be interesting what path Mr.Alveraz will take but changes will come we all no it. good luck |

Comment: I like to say as an employee of interstae brands that the direction of the company is a reflection of the management that is in charge. I watched this company go down the tubes over the years. Since interstate took over and send union busting management to my location its been a miserable place to work to say the least. Working with mangemnt thats more concerned with firing people then with putting out a good profitable product.
I have seen hundreds maybe thousands of people inside this bakery come and go since 98.. there is definately something wrong.

Comment: Your comments kill me . Did anyone actually expect I.B.C to change , They never have never will.
Even in bankruptcy there M.O. is the same . Cut routes ,lay off workers ,close depots .
The Donut Bite-me?s are a prime example. There are Battle ships full setting in small one and two route depots. Its all about showing bad numbers to cover ass. And some where way up the latter sits
One big fucking Idiot to let this go on over and over and over and over.
Here is a question to you at management. Be honest with this. If you can ask your self who the big fucking idiot is and you don?t know. Guess what? Its probably you!! |

Comment: Here?s some advise for the numb-nuts in charge.
It is a fact the So Cal. Hostess market is keeping I.B.C
From almost certain death. So Gives us a fucking break all ready.
We are already busting our ass working all kinds of O.T. hauling out mass -product.
I know ?numbers? make certain people look good. Why don?t you come down here and help me run my route on a 12 hour normal day . Then deal with displays on Halloween cake while were doing a line sale in Vons while Target is going Shrek crazy while we pick up all the returns from the bite cluster fuck and replace them with new bites that have been accumulating in the depot for over a week for ?numbers?.
Then lets get out there and have nothing authorized any where and give us some ?Numbers to meet?
I know I.B.C is known for not looking ahead so I?ll help.
You will not make the numbers you would have if you would let us concentrate on one or two things at a time. You are going to have a lot more injured people going out along with sick time and a bunch of overtime. I know you have to look good to keep your fat ass chair jobs, So why don?t you come down here to Chatsworth and give me a hand? I?ll let you drive the big truck.

Comment:
Question: Where are the Teamsters and the other unions at IBC?
Answer: Look in your toilet. That's where they've been for the last 25-30 years.
Question: Why is IBC not making any significant changes at work since filing for Chapter 11?
Answer: IBC is not planning to survive bankruptcy. Their plan (corporate) is to suck every last dime out of it, then take it and run to their next free meal.
Question: As an IBC employee, is there anything that I can do to ward off losing my job.
Answer: NO! IBC employees are not part of the decision making process. You are subject to it, however you are not, by any means, in control of it!
Question: What can I do then?
Answer: You can continue to report for work, do your job and collect your paycheck. Get your affairs in order, sell off what you cannot afford to keep without your current income and get ready for a possible change in your life style!

Comment:
I am not sure what has happened to the Hostess products in the Nashville/Brentwood TN area. I have trouble finding them! They are in all the stores but they are not in stock! The shelves are empty! I have asked the store about the problem and they just shake their head and have not idea what the problem is. I hope someone reads this that can help with the supply problem. |

Comment: I think this whole bankruptcy is just a scam to get the blue collar workers (bakery, routesalesmen, truck drivers and any other union workers) to give up some of their salary, commissions, medical, retirement, etc. If this Co. owes too much there are alot of assests they can sell to get out from all of their debt. |

Hahaha, that's too true. We had one like that here, too. But the kids in accounting drove her to quit. |

Comment: We waste so much money on management over here, at any one time we may have 3 or 4 managers and 3or 4 group leaders on duty, and you still cant get a straight answer to your question.Instead of sitting in the breakroom all day these guys should watch the route garage in the morning and stop everyone from stealing the product off the docks, but then again they take product home with them too so it would kinda be hypocritical,If we made money for every hour our group leaders sat in the breakroom we would never had to file for bankruptcy. |

Comment: to the idiot from Lakewood that makes comments that he knows nothing about...
First of all, the FTC would NEVER allow IBC to sell ANY part of the LA operations to Bimbo, it would be a massive monopoly, get your facts straight. Second of all, there are NO plans to close any LA. area bakeries, they cant even keep up with the bake the way it is now. One more things... the southern Calif. area is is MAKING THEIR numbers....are YOU? |

We were just fine without the SUPER bakery that has killed us all and will put us out of work. I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but it is a pretty good source that Billings is closing and they will sell off the Lakewood bakery for peanuts. |

A good source (not the route rep) claims the new CEO has plans for closing not only Billings, but one of the plants in California either Hostess or Pomona is going along with some other six bakeries nationwide. IBC union labor get ready for your first wave in wage and pension cuts (20 -25%)! Notice that I did not mention the word "concessions!" These "cuts" will be ordered and enforced by the bankruptcy court at the behest of IBC corporate over the noble objections of your respective labor unions. If your position is in management, your cuts are the most expendable form of labor at IBC. For the most part, management are at will employees. You can go at any time, with or without a reason. Start picking out your spots to pander now. You are now considered to be among the working poor of America. Welcome! |

Comment: Hey Pomona stop talking shit about Glendale closing. We wouldn't do that to you. "Cookie" came and went so your bullshit rumor was false. We made some of your product this week so you can make your plant look nice and clean for Alvarez. Yet you still talk shit.
First off if we were going to close other bakeries would have to make our product. This wouldn't happen overnight. Second who would ship the product to our 40+ depots?? You and ??
In the future if they close Glendale and LA alot of people will be pissed. I will be a reminder to all my fellow employees that Pomona was talking shit.Cause if we can't bump into Pomona then we're all out of a job. So who's gonna hire a convicted felon anyway ?? Well then we have nothing to loose. Lets go to Pomona and beat the shit out of their employees. You think their's enough police in Pomona to stop 20+ gang members and psychos who don't give a shit.

Comment: Why should the working class take any consessions when the upper management is making big money and bonuses. Supervisors sitting around talking for extended periods flerting with the female help. What a waste, there is too much management and supervisors. Why havent these positions been cut? Everyone is looking to cut the little people while the upper management lives like kings. Lets see an effort in the main office to cut the fat first then we the working class will follow. |

I think we're square for the next 4 years. Except for the larger routes we all run due to route cuts we basically make the same money as we did 10-15 years ago. |

What makes matters worse there is a drakes distrubution center here, so whats going on?, is Little Debbie running you out. |

I am a big coupon user and most of them DO NOT say "do not double". In my area around Detroit most stores have double coupons up to ,and including, 50 cents and I appreciate this! Today I was going to buy your product but did not when I noticed the "do not double".
Is there a simple explanation? If the store wants to double why won't you let them?

Comment: IBC = INCOMPETENCE BREEDS CONTEMPT. How much do you want to bet that our new ceo has never been on a route. What does he know about the baking industry and what goes on in the trenches every morning. This guy sell underware for a living. Just hope you have enough senority to get through the cuts he will make. Because after all he has to hit his numbers for the big executive bonuses at the end of the quarter. I know that each and everyone of us want to win, we all want our company to make money so we can make money. When is the last time management has asked you, what do you need to increase sales in your accounts or what type of products or marketing ideas do you have? Your answer is the same as mine and untill these questions are asked, the future looks bleek, and thats to bad because this is the easiest business to sell if there is cooperation between everyone. Is it possible for the employees to buy this company. It could be a bargain. |

I had called a few weeks back and sent an email regarding my disappointment with the two boxes of ring dings I had purchased. The person I spoke to apologized and said she would take care of the problem. I received a coupon to replace the product I purchased but nothing else. I was led to believe that I would receive additional coupons for my trouble but, nothing else arrived. |

I bought Hostess Crumb Donettes on Oct. 12th at our local Smiths store with a date
of Oct. 15th NO. 702715 as the last sales
date. It was 12 oz. and cost me $3.39.
When I opened the package...I was
amazed for the donettes were not
etable for they were as hard as rocks
and I must say they were stale to the
core.
I ask that you answer this complaintt or
I shall never buy any of your products

HEY BAYVIEW, your the first batch of fat that should be thrown into the pot to be meltet away!! No place should be run by ego maniac haters, who when given a cubical(and refer to it as their office) and business cards they are transformed into all powerful pricks that use that power to do EVIL!! Being a stupidvisor is a position not a level of status you small insecure little girls! Instead of thinking the promotion increased the size of your PEEnise's stop eating lunch and make a difference for your sale's and all the stops out their that never see your "all important ass" you girls need to get humble and realize that "supervisor" is an oppritunity to suport your people regardless, create a sense of loyalty and respect and that you got there back if needed, follow policies dont make them up!! Your simply a link between the real people with power and the work force not the CEO who inherets respect when given the position!! Even if you really are just babysitters, dont be haters cause you will get what you give. That's a promise!!

Comment: Thank you anonymous to Lakewood. IBC was a lean organization before they purchased CBC Wonder Bread but somehow the Continental boys whined and got their way and Kansas City office just kept hiring and hiring friends, family and anybody else that worked for CBC. The whole upper tier of our organizational chart is filled with CBC people. These are the people that put this company in the shape that its in currently. If Mr. Alvarez would make a heavy cut in this upper tier of extra people that we never had years ago like Too many Managers in areas like Sales, Human Resources, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Sanitation, Supply Chain, Analyst, plus others. We never had all these additional Manager positions. It still amazes me why Elsseser didn't see what was happening and why these others in Kansas City didn't question any of this. For this company to pull itself out of this situation Mr. Alvarez needs to clean house otherwise there is going to be too much bad blood still hanging around. |

Comment:
This Company (IBC) shows that it has a greater sense of misdirection than most of it's peers. At a time when market leadership and innovation is most needed, it prefers to ignore the inevitiable and goes to sleep.
Standard IBC expenses are increasingly outpacing their ability to create needed income. In addition, they have created additional sources of debt by authorizing outside groups of "Con-Artists" to sell them a bill-of-goods and futher deplete IBC cash-based assets by several millions of dollars.
Now IBC finds itself facing new debt (200 million dollars) and two years to survive the storm which it created. |

I have enjoyed Hostess snack all 35 years of my life. I have not had one in
a long while and recently was at a vending machine at work and gave into my
guilty pleasures and bought a Hostess Fruit Pie. I was shocked to see that
it had 50% Saturated Fat. Would you consider making healthier snacks with
less fat? Perhaps you can bake the goods rather than fry them as McDonald's
did with their apple pies. If you use my idea to make a healthier snack for
the concerns of parents and for the overall health of kids just use me in a
commercial and give me a life time supply of your healthier snacks.

Comment: Dear Mr. Tony Alvarez
You know who we are. Just make the call and fire us all. We are the guys who bitch when we have to run a route, and fax in or paperwork to the sales our managers..
Just do the company a huge favor, and fire 9 outa 10 managers !!!!!
We dont do a damn thing, and we think all the employees are peices of crap...
Help this company make a nice profit, and let us all go, we are wasting company dollars, on no-talent managers,
P.S Close all the thrift stores too, (sorry about all the jobs but...) Whats the point of selling fresh product at a discounted price , then still throwning away the outdated product when its unsold. ?
P.S.S DO AWAY WITH COMPANY CARS, and upgrade the route trucks..
PISSSSSSSSSSSS...... Please make a diference in our lives....your our last hope !!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy to see this web site is back up and on line! My general feeling regarding IBC is that they have "locked-down" all sources of insider information coming out of its' bowels! We should start to hear some earth-shattering news following October 21,2004. Get ready for shut downs and close out specials and forced labor union employment-based wages, pensions and benefits concessions.

I recently bought a package of Bread Du Jour Breadsticks at a Kroger store in Cincinnati, Ohio. I often purchase them because my family and I really enjoy them. However the package that I purchased this time had only 7 breadsticks instead there were supposed to be 8. I opened them for dinner and was not happy, as I needed the 8. Just wanted to let someone know about this. |

I have been a fruit pie eater, for over 30 years. I know you have cut back on the fruit over the years. But the last 2 times I've purchased pie's, there has been no apple in them.
Isn't that a little extreme. Makes me not want to buy your products anymore. The last one I bought had the p-o-p 04503105. |

Hi,
I haven't eaten twinkies in a long time. They used to be my favorites. Just bought some the other day and they are good but there isn't enough creme for my tastes. :-)
The creme help the cake go down. LOL
I also heard someone say that you might not be making twinkies anymore. Please say it isn't so. Everyone needs to have a twinkie now and again.
If you are going to stop making them, how/where can I get a supply before you do that?
Thanks and best wishes for your company.

Customer Feedback:
I have been a buyer and support of your Beefsteak reduced calories Rye for a long time. But something changed recently and I do not know what the answer is.
Over the last 3 months I bought your bread and it turns moldy in 3-5 days. These purchases are made at 3 different stores depending on where I am at the time.
There has been not change in how we use or store the bread. To date I think I have thrown away 8-10 loaves of bread. One of them was yesterday. I purchase the bread on Saturday and it was moldy yesterday which was Tuesday.
At this point I cannot waste my more money in buying your product again. I like the bread. The bread is not cheap and should have a better shelf life then 3-5 days. We do not experience this with any other breads we purchase (include others produced by your company).
Just thought you need my feedback before you lose other buyers.

I was just starting to eat a hostess Lemon pie. I had only taken about two bites when I noticed a dark spot in the lemon filling. I figured it was just a piece of crust. I reached in to get it out and see. IT WAS A BUG!!!! I almost threw up. A few more bites and I would have eaten it. I have never been so disgusted. I may never eat anything from Hostess again and I loved just about everything the company makes. |

I purchased a box of powdered hostess donettes today and upon getting them home and taking one bite, I discovered that they were TERRIBLE!! The last sales date on them was October 8, and today is the 12th. They were incredibly stale and just tasted funny altogether. I bought them at a gas station and i don't think that they will do anything about the fact there, they will just say that the problem lies with the company that sells them. I pai $3.00 for the box and that was a waste of my money. |

I purchased a Hostess Cherry Fruit pie at D&D Finer Foods in Evanston,
IL today. Upon about the 3rd bite, I noticed something different. The pie
couldn't have been more than 1/2 full with cherry filling. I basically
bought a sweetened pie crust with two globs of cherry filling in them. I
have been eating these things for awhile and I have never had that
problem but I am disappointed in this outcome. I hope that you continue
to improve on quality control standards and that this will be a one time thing.

for the past few months your canadian brown bread loaves contain bits of solid pieces of grain (i hope its grain).
is this a mistake, change of formula etc. i thought it was a one time occurance but it seems to be in every loaf. unless the company changes the bread back to its original smooth dough i will have to change products.

Dear Sirs
I recently bought a box of Twinkies(10 ct) at my local grocer, Nugget, which incidentally is a very fine store. The problem is that 3 of the twinkies in my box were stale and hard. It was obvious as to why they were that way. The clear plastic individual wrapping for those three twinkies was open. It almost looked like the plastic was maybe burned. It had that look of plastic exposed to heat and singed.
I have bought hostess goods for my kids and wife (And Myself) for years. Nothing else comes close. I would normally complain at the store I bought them but its just not worth the hassle, ie: reciepts, we already demolished the remainder of the box, etc...
So, just pass on the word to your production folks, please be more careful. I know, no one's perfect.
Thank You |

About a month ago, while driving through Austin, Texas I stopped a a Diamond Shamrock service station and purchased a package of Hostess cupcakes that were small and lime flavored. I believe the name of the cupcakes was "Little Angle." They were the best cupcakes that I have ever purchased. I have searched dozens of places in the Austin and San Antonio, Texas area and have never been able to find them again. Was this a text run on a new product? Where can they be purchased? Can they be ordered over the Internet by the case? I would appreciate any information you can give me. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I'm throughly infatuated with this product? Please Help! Thanks, a million |

To all you people out there...don't act surprised by what has happened to the company we all work for....anyone of us could tell you this was going to happen...anytime you have a company that does not care for it's empolyees..or talk to us "little people" are only concerned with themselves. And also we can say how bad our unions are how they haven't done anything for us..how we need to get rid of them...do you not know, this is what the company wants to hear! Ask your self how many times have I went to one of our union meetings? Have I voiced my opinion?! Or did I just do what everyone else wanted....If our union guys are not doing what we want then we need to get someone else in.....read up on it and let's find a way to replace them....do something besides sit and complain....because we all know if you lose the union....you may as well go to work for Sam Walton' s company...IBC'S big payroll...that isn't saving our company!!!! |

Comment: This post is for free years towards pension. Yep its been done in the past. I even have a letter stating that the company and union would vest you. The reason was because back then employees would not become company management due to the fact they were not yet vested in union. So it was worked out If you went into a management position and continued to work, the union would vest you. |

Comment: Hey, Mr. Buffalo complaining guy. If you don't like what you see, get out. And get out as fast as you can. Believe me, no-one will miss you, Loser! The only person who thinks you are great is yourself. You have been destroying Buffalo for years. Loser! Someone looked close and finally realized that you needed to be replaced, and you don't like it. Poor loser. So now you decided to make personal comments about the people you work with. Loser! We have no use for people like you. Nobody does. And by the way, Mike, (oops, did i call you Mike? should it have been Johnny ? Fran?) the joke is on you. Everyone knew who you were from day one. Loser! You couldn't even do that right without help from someone else. Everyone who reads this site should know that you are the sales manager who said all union peolple are idiots. Now you are trying to use a site set up and run by union people to voice your personal opinions. Loser! If they knew who you are, they would never let you on this site. So from now on, anyone who hears this one and only negative voice from Buffalo, (whatever name he decides to use), it's that employee, management, union bashing guy again who laughs at everyone but himself. Loser! Loser! Loser!
One final comment, they say lack of sex at home causes 2 out of 5 men to be miserable at work. Look around you, do the math. |

I Hello,
My name is Denise Eastwood and I recently bought Hostess DingDongs (12 pack #BO7 261 bar code 45000 00301) for my 3 ? year old daughter and was disappointed in the quality in the item and the packaging. She had pulled one of the cakes out and the wrapping was opened and half of the cake were missing. Now, there were no bite marks on it but you could not miss the open bag. I was nervous about giving her any other cakes in the box, but I checked them and seem ok. I worked in quality, and this would be a no, no. How could this of happened, is there anyone who checks the packaging and to make sure there is a whole cake in the pack? Or can someone on line eat one and place it back online? I am not joking; the bag was opened, wide opened.
I am not sure I will buy another Dingdongs snack again, too worry about things not being checked. I am not sure if you care to hear things like this, or you just thing, yeah another mom overreaching. I am not, I am very easy going. Well, I will go. By Denise 10/2/04

Enjoyed the David Twiddy post. It mentions a great many views of just where IBC is not only headed but where it has been residing these past ten years or so.
In my opinion, IBC has been residing in the Land of Oz! This article fails to mention the major (multi-million dollar verdicts/settlements) employment-based lawsuits it faced and lost needlessly. It is no secret that IBC holds a host of "company-run unions" in its pockets. These so called pocket-unions are not there to protect the workforce. They are there to protect IBC. With respect to the lawsuits for racial and sexual discrimination, it is noted that almost all of these employees complained bitterly to their unions first. In turn, these unions did nothing but to continue to collude with IBC. |

DAVID TWIDDY
Associated Press
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Like many stock analysts keeping an eye on
bankrupt Interstate Bakeries Corp., Morningstar's Matthew Reilly
would like to offer an opinion on whether the nation's largest
wholesale baker will emerge intact.
But the Kansas City-based company that plies America's pantries with
Wonder Bread and Hostess Twinkies hasn't provided hard numbers to
investors since April as a series of internal investigations and
slip-ups have hampered its ability to issue quarterly and annual
reports.
"I think I and a lot of other people are scratching our heads over
where the company is right now," Reilly said. "They were saying, 'We
need to cut down to the roots and get down to our profitable
business,' but at the same time, they said they were not sure what
that is."
In fact, the company's new chief executive, turnaround specialist
Tony Alvarez, and his staff are themselves busy combing through the
company's finances, trying to get a handle on just how badly
Interstate Bakeries is doing and whether it can be saved.
The 77-year-old company filed for Chapter 11 protection from
creditors last week, citing a drop in sales, partially due to the
popularity of low-carbohydrate diet, and high fixed production and
employee costs.
"Chapter 11 in this country is uniquely an American thing; it's the
idea of a second chance," Alvarez said in an interview after the
company filed for bankruptcy and he replaced former chief executive
James Elsesser. "It's where a company that has hit the wall is being
given a chance to reorganize its affairs. A lot of good companies
have come out of this."
Bankruptcy experts said a company's chances of surviving
reorganization has a lot to do with how badly managed they were when
they filed for protection.
Jeff Morris, a law professor at the University of Dayton in Ohio and
incoming scholar at the American Bankruptcy Institute, said
bankruptcies do the most good for companies that are relatively
well-run but have financial problems, like crushing amounts of debt.
Morris said a company with fundamental flaws in its operation or
management will find little solace in bankruptcy court.
"You can say, 'I don't have to pay these debts,'" he said. "That
doesn't mean you can make Twinkies for cheaper tomorrow."
Matthew Will, a finance professor at the University of Indianapolis,
went further, saying that the best plan for any company forced into
bankruptcy, especially a company with well-known brands like
Interstate Bakeries, is to sell the company quickly to a vibrant
third party.
While initially a public relations disaster, Will said, such a sale
can do much to preserve the company's value and protect jobs and
benefits.
"Almost never does a company fully recover," he said, pointing to
bankruptcies in the airline industry, where companies hang on by
continually asking for deeper and deeper concessions from employees
and vendors. "In the process of trying to recover, people get hurt,
lose pensions, the banks throw good money after bad. Everyone
eventually liquidates but they draw out the pain."
In Interstate Bakeries case, the fight against obesity and the
popularity of diet plans like Atkins and South Beach have recently
cut into its sales of white bread and snack cakes. But, Reilly said,
the company had been teetering on the edge for years.
He said the company's work force, more than 80 percent of which is
covered by contracts with the Teamsters and a bevy of other unions,
is too big and many of its plants are out of date and inefficient.
"Their labor situation has thrown them into a situation where they
are not able to compete," Reilly said. "They said a number of years
ago that they needed to grow 2 to 3 percent a year to maintain their
cost structure and they haven't had any growth since 1998."
He also noted that other bakers, such as Flowers Foods of
Thomasville, Ga., have flourished in recent years, largely by
putting out reduced-carb and premium breads to satisfy the
marketplace. Interstate Bakeries, on the other hand, didn't re |

I frequent the thriftstore located in Bolingbrook, IL. I know that Interstate Brands has filed for chapter 11, but what does that mean to me, a consumer? Will my store be one that closes.. Will the bakery in Hodgkins be one that shuts down? I asked the clerks who work there and I was told not to worry ...There would be business as usual.....Does anyone if the stores in this area are closing? |

Here are latest rumors coming out of IBC-Pomona bakery.
1. Pomona shipped one of their transporation managers (Cookie) to work in Glendale on a temporary basis pending a final order to close it down. Pomona and Henderson plants will take up the slack and bake all the product thereafter.
2. All the Gendale workforce left standing will use their seniority to bump into Pomona and Henderson come February, when new bids are posted. Teamsters Local 63 (Hector) has his instructions to "make it happen."
3. Cookie is telling everyone at Pomona and elsewhere that rumor concerning Alberstons taking back their Private Label account come January 2005 is not true. Only problem with this statement is that it could indeed be true because Albertsons surely does not have to go through Chapter 11 with IBC due to an alledged escape clause in the agreements. |

The fact that you put enriched wheat flour, high fructose corn syrup, and potato flour in your "Carb Action" bread is deplorable! This product is supposed to be for people on low carb diets and diabetics...and these people are going to have huge glycemic responses when they think they are eating something that is ok.
Why do you think this is acceptable? I think it is a profit question, not a moral one. Shame on you. |

Comment: As the wife of an employee of IBC, I am concerned about my husband's job just as other employees are about theirs. I am hoping for the best in all of this for everyone. I know this company is not the best but it is also not the worst. I don't really know much about the route drivers jobs because my husband works in production. I only know about their jobs from the friends I have that are drivers. I hear the compaints about the production jobs from my husband and the other employees and I can understand why everybody hates this company. I also agree that the unions are a part of the problem. My personal feeling is the my husband's union is worthless. As I read these messages I just wish that everybody, including the company, could come together and try to pull this company through this so everybody keeps their jobs. |
