Comment: Re: concerned stock holder.
First of all, your an idiot for owning stock in this company. I would start by learning how to read, then look on the internet or read a newspaper with economic data in it. If you find you just don't have time to learn how to read or write then turn on your television, check cnbc or bloomberg, watch for ibc news. You will then find news on how the management of this company has destroyed any hope for the future of this company.
In conclusion, to say this message board is to blame for all the bad things happening to your precious stock price is completely absurd, you stupid, uneducated, wannabe, broke dick investor. Is it fair to say this message board causes rodents to infest a cherry cake product, or this message board causes chairman of the board to steal this company blind. I don't think so, you dumb sonofa no account, four flushing, pathetic, shit for brains. nuff said!

I am shocked that IBC does not do something about this site. Why are they letting this go on?
They should listen to the posts and make the changes they need to so it will be a better company and do something to take this site down.
As of today I am dumping my IBC stock. This is sad. |

Comment:
You snail-skulled little rabbit. Would that a hawk pick you up, drive its beak into your brain, and upon finding it rancid set you loose to fly briefly before splattering the ocean rocks with the frothy pink shame of your ignoble blood. May you choke on the queasy, convulsing nausea of your own trite, foolish beliefs. You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot. You are a canker. A sore that won't go away. Your life is a monument to stupidity.
And what meaning do you expect your delusional self-important statements of unknowing, inexperienced opinion to have with us? What fantasy do you hold that you would believe that your tiny-fisted tantrums would have more weight than that of a leprous desert rat, spinning rabidly in a circle, waiting for the bite of the snake?
You are ridiculous and obnoxious. You are the moral equivalent of a leech. You are a living emptiness, a meaningless void. You are a disease, you puerile one-handed slack-jawed drooling meatslapper. On a good day you're a half-wit.
You have the personality of wallpaper. You are so dense, light bends around you. You are asinine and benighted. You are the source of all unpleasantness. You spread misery and sorrow wherever you go. You are degenerate, noxious and depraved. I feel debased just for knowing you exist. I despise everything about you, and I wish you would go away.
I cannot believe how incredibly stupid you are. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid, so stupid that it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. You emit more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Your writing has to be a troll. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know.
I'm sorry. I can't go on. This is an epiphany of stupid for me. After this, you may not hear from me again for a while. I don't have enough strength left to deride your ignorant questions and half-baked comments.
The only thing worse than your logic is your manners. I have snipped away all of what you wrote, because, well... it didn't really say anything. Your attempt at constructing a coherent statement was pitiful. I mean, really, stringing together a patch of paranoia among a load of babbling is hardly effective.
Maybe later in life, after you have learned to read, write, spell, and reason, you will have more success. Sometime we forget that there are "challenged" persons in this world who find these things more difficult.
If I had known that this was your case, then I would have never read your posts. It just wouldn't have been "right". Sort of like parking in a handicap space. I wish you the best of luck in the emotional and social struggles that seem to be placing such a demand on you.
Hope this finds you in good health. |

Comment: Committee For Better Bread
Biddeford, Maine 04005
Tom Bradford
1 Bakers Way
Biddeford, Maine 04005
Dear Tom:
The Committee For Better Bread wants to congratulate you on your recent promotion, Vice President of New England region, or whatever.
As Plant Manager, you have taken your innovative thinking to great lengths in your tenure at Nissen/Hostess/Wonder. The Committee wants to thank you for all your stimulating memos that you have thoughtfully written and included in our pay checks.
Do you remember when Nissen Canadian White was a real big winner and you turned it completely around by changing the recipes. And how about eliminating those delicious donuts that Nissen's used to make! We really didn't need those products in the market place anymore. You can now walk away knowing that you did one hell of a job. Your promotion was warranted. We will miss you as you back out of your parking spot for the last time.
Thanks again.
Committee For Better Bread

Comment: I think the problem a vast majority of people have with other people who type in caps all of the time is not that they can't see past it, but that is an annoyance like fingernails going down a chalkboard.
But usually that person who types in all caps doesn't care that they annoy others because it does not personally bother them.
Also, it is funny to see a person feel the need to keep explaining their personal feelings because everyone argues with that person, not necessarily because they disagree with that person, but because that person is very annoying, like finger nails going down a chalkboard.
And that makes the person annoying everyone very, very happy.
And then, as they say, LOL!

I posted that quip. And I stand by it. I am a wife of an employee. I don't post in caps, I don't shoot down other employees and I try to offer sound information that hopefully is helpful and not nasty. I also have been on the internet long enough to recognize a troll when I see one. That's why I said to push your imaginary ignore button. You see it's like a cancer, if you feed it it grows and sucks the life out of you. On the other hand if you cut off it's food supply it withers and dies. I think we all need to practice a little chemo restraint. |

Comment: You can remove this plant (#13 Milwaukee, WI) from the list. Plant was shut down on April 22, 2004. It was a small bakery with less than 2 dozen employees so maybe that's why there was no official announcement. We produced bagels for IBC under the Wonder & Butternut labels. That task will now be done by a bakery outside the IBC system. We were a non-union shop but had voted in the Teamsters last year. Unfortunately, a contract had not been negotiated at the time of the closing so all we got was a letter of recommendation and pay for any earned vacation time. I just thought you might like to know about this. |

I filed a complaint with your Schelier park office two weeks ago in regard to Hostess Oatmeal cookies . The cookies tasted as if a bottle of perfume had been put in the mixture. I purchased the cookies at your thrift store in Roundlake Illinois. The cookies had an expiration date on Sept 1304cf. Since your Schelier park office is not prompt in telling me what was in the cookies, I saved the balance of the cookies in my freezer. I will send them out myself for an analyzes. If I find there was something in the cookies other than what is listed on the package I will turn the findings over to my attorney.

After purchasing a sealed box of Hostess DingDongs from the Jewel store in Elk Grove
I found that one of the inside items had its wrapping opened. That in itself is nothing to fret about, but what was alarming was when I found the the product 1/3 eaten. Now either you have a rodent problem or someone on the production line thought they would do something funny. Either way it is not appreciated by this consumer.

Whers's the fruit? That's all I want to know. I have been eating Drake's Apple and Cherry pies since I was a kid ( and that's since they were first introduced and advertised on WPIX in NY during the Chuck McCann Show.) and I remember chewing into real pieces of apples or cherries.
I brought 3 boxes of pies this week and NOT ONE of the pies had one bit of fruit. They had plenty of the thick syrup stuff but NO FRUIT. What the heck is going on? Did I get a bad batch or is this the way this product is produced these days. If that is so, then you guys need to change the name to Drake's Fruit Flavored, Syruppy Stuffed Sugar Sprayed Crust.
I would like to believe that this happens every once in a while but it's happened to me too many times over the years. I just can't see how they can be called fruit pies when there's no fruit in them. |

The last few boxes of Ding Dongs that we've purchaed have not been wrapped correctly. There is usually 2 or 3 Ding Dongs per box that dry out because they are not covered with the foil.
We usually get two boxes per week when we grocery shop. My husband and Grandsons take them in their lunches. I am really getting tired of not being able to use the full box of ding dings, the store will not take them back, unless we return the wrapped ding dongs as well. Then they replace with more ding dongs and part of that box is not wrapped properly.
I don't know where to find any code numbers on the carton, or where they are being processed at, but I shop at Benedicts in Mt. View, Wyoming, they are also a Western Family distributor.
From now on, I am keeping all the cartons and will be mailing all the dried out ones back to you.

Though I do agree with most of your post, I do not agree with the aspect reflecting those with mental health disorders. I also disagree with another post which stated that you must be in HR because if you were in HR you would not make such assumptions of people with psychological disabilities stating that they need to post on a mental health board, though I truly believe, that the person to which your post references to has no such
condition(s) , but then again, that is not something that can be assumed. |

Comment:
Let's break this down:
1. She refuses to communicate in an acceptable, mannerly way even after having been advised countless times that it is considered rude to type in all caps.
2. She spews vicious, hateful, insulting words and comments in one sentence only to be followed by protestations of loving communication and intent in the next.
3. Her response to those trying to hash out some very serious and complicated issues? Not one single serious or well-thought-out response but a simplistic 'don't worry...be as happy as I am' approach.
4. Finally, she clearly refuses to conform to certain societal expectations due to 'stubbornness' yet expects others to conform to HER expectations after bursting on the scene uninvited and uninformed. Bloody heck, she doesn't even work for the company and uses an indirect connection to order around those who actually do! Mind-boggling...
Question: Do these actions reflect behaviour expected of a rational, sane, emotionally-health adult?
I leave you to form your own conclusion. My conclusion is that this person is a hazard and should be restricted to mental health boards. If she were my wife, I would have been embarrassed/humiliated and would have put an end to this travesty as soon as I discovered it. As it is apparent that won't occur, the best advice I can offer is found here:

Comment: Look at all the officers in this company and see salary and bonuses anf you can why this company doesn't show a profit. As for Billings plant if management would stop thinking of ways to screw the employees and just work with as a team things might get better. That doesn't mean kiss up to the employees but to show appreication of the hard work most of them do. Does it hurt to show somebody respect? |

I went to price chopper to get a package of HO HOs , much to my dismay, the store had taken them off the shelves. It seems every box that was opened did not have the 10 inside, only 7 in one box , 8 in another and 9 in another one. therefore I cannot buy them. what gives with your quality control and who is counting them. or are they so good they are going in counters mouths. The boxes were dated may 22. |

on the back of your Hostess Ding Dong packaging was your address and you asked for our comments. Well, here goes.
When I look at the front of the box you have made the Ding Dong's larger for a better view. It is obvious that the cream is exagerated but when my fiancee' and I bit into the DingDongs we kept waiting to find the cream. There was so little. If you are going to make something for the public, at least make it of good quality. The average consumer has become at least used to the increase of foods but when the quality goes out the window with the obvious price increases it is just too much.
It is a shame that we now are quite unsatisfied. We will be looking for another brand that will give us what we want. We both grew up with many of the your products and most assuredly had hoped that at least the quality had stayed with these old favorites.
You should really re-think the "bottom line" because if you charge more and give less you really don't get more profit. Actually what you get is a bad reputation and therefore even less of a profit. I really wonder what the companies of the US are caring about.

I've been enjoying your product for over 20 years but recently bought a box of Hostess chocolate cup cakes that were dry and very hard on the taste bud. Last sale day on the box was 014104 May 01 $3.49. I bought the product on April 19 at the Safeway store on G street in Grants Pass. I'm not writing to get my money back but just thought you should know of the problem. Your help should not send out cupcakes when they are that bad. I hope you have someone checking at least one out of 1000.

I purchased one of your iced honey buns on April 19, 2004 at Murphy Service Station in Batesville Arkansas. I have always been pleased with the quality of your product, yet the item purchased this morning did not fit into that catagory. My purchase was well in advance of the May 3, "last sale date." My complaint is as follows: the bun was stale and I did not continue to finish my honey bun. I was disappointed and unsatisfied. I hope this information is useful in improving the quality of your product. |

I sent a message using the twinkies.com web site, but I haven't heard anything. I'm hoping it just didn't make it to the right person. So here I go again. My wife purchased a box of Iced Honey Buns from our local Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. My email was sent the first time shortly after the purchase. The codes on the box are DB206-4 3606-0044 on the inner flap and 06079 under the date. I opened one of these and the smell was disgusting. The bottom on all 4 buns is a dark brown and they smell burnt. I'm wanting to know what you want me to do with the 3 that I didn't open. I'm not going to eat them. And I hate being out the money that was spent on them. |

How old are they ?
Were they made on April 07, 1987 , expire date of April 01 ,or am I reading the code wrong ?

I purchased an individually packaged Hostess Fruit Pie (Apple Flavor) from a vending machine. After opening the package, I noticed the sale by date was May 03. The code above the date read 1A 07 105. After talking to several I work with, we all agreed that the date meant May of 2003. Am I correct? We contacted our vendor, who said this was for May 3, with no year. Could you explain the coding of the date on this package to me. This product was purchased today ( April 22, 2004). |

Comment: "on the backdoor at walmart we like to make the cake vendors stand out in the rain, then refuse the orders cause they are wet!!its all in fun though" I never post, but after reading this, I had to give my two cents! There are some employees of this company who are hard working, put up with crap, and do their job (and usually other's job too) A routeman has to put up with reaching his stops in a timely manner, dealing with idiot drivers on the highways, managers of major chain stores that don't know their contracts and receivers like this JERK! Since you think it's "all in fun", then don't be offended when you ask us to order anything extra or special and we're just not able to get it, your receiving hours end at 12 and we show up at 11:58 (keeps ya from your long lunch, don't it?) you leave us waiting and we decide there are more important customers and aren't there when you finally decide to open the door.............and just can't get to your store when a snow storm or hurricane is going to clean off your shelves. Hey, it's all in fun, right??? |

Comment: Most of us Transport Drivers are quite literate, thank you. In fact some of us have even written legal briefs that won six figure settlements from IBC. We also take pride in being able to deliver our load safely despite some of the miserable weather and antiquated depots and bakeries we have to deal with.
That said, IBC would be crazy to close Billings given that having closed Minot, Bismark, Boise, and Spokane bread they have no other facility that can serve Billing's market. They needed Boise for the same reason though and closed it. And unlike other bakery closings the land under Billings and Boise has no great value. In fact, it would probably make more sense to close Salt Lake City (older building, little room for expansion) instead of Billings.
Given IBC logic(?), who knows- they might close Henderson! |

HAHAHA! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? BIASED???? HAHAHA! YEAHHHHH....BECAUSE IM THE ONE LUMPING EVERYONE TOGETHER. AND IM THE ONE NOT SEEING BOTH SIDES.....RIGHT? EVEN THOUGH MY HUSBAND WAS BOTH A ROUTEMAN AND A SUPERVISOR....BUT IM BIASED. AND NAME CALLING? ME? HMMMM....LETS REREAD THIS BOARD.....I THINK YOUVE SKIPPED OVER QUITE A BIT OF THE POSTS. TWO WORDS FOR YOU.....SELECTIVE READING. IF YOU CONSIDER "DARLIN" AS BEING SEXIST SO BE IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERM "MAAM"? IS THAT ALSO DISREPSECTFUL?
YOUR ENTIRE POST IS TOTALLY ABSURD. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK UP THE FOLLOWING WORDS:
BIASED
BIGOTED
SEXIST
HOSTILE
YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY CONFUSED ABOUT THIER MEANING. EITHER THAT OR YOURE ONE OF THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS.
"YOU WIN"?!?!?!? HOW OLD ARE YOU AGAIN? PARDON ME WHILE I LAUGH MY HOSTILE HEAD OFF! |

Comment: IBC putting all the eggs in one basket (Bakers Inn) isn't going to save this company. This company was built on Quality and Service. Both of those have been cut with longer shelf life and lack of service. As a parent I wouldn't buy something that lasted 3 weeks without freezing. In our house we would rather spend more money to buy a better quality product even if we have to feed half of it to the ducks or toss it in the garbage because it went stale before we ate it. |

Please, please, please
All im asking is just send me what i order on the day i order it. We have lost 71% of the casino business since dec 16th of last year. 50% of that is due to product not shipped. ordered but not shipped, ordered 7 days in advance i might add. 4 routes have been cut as a result of this. please dont let mine be next. |

Does anyone know where I could find list of the different Zinger products? They had them in a vending machine where I used to work a couple of years ago and I'd get them every chance I could. I can't seem to find any product lists online. They came 2 to a pack and consisted of yellow cake with icing inside and chocolate icing on the top with sprinkles (if I recall correctly.) Thanks for the help. |

Comment: Deniece,
Please use lower caps, thats really annoying, means your shouting when using upper case. If you need to explain to me your not hostile by being hostile, hey, its a free country. I'm not a hypocrite, I'm simply trying to explain the error of your ways. Your husband is probably a good person, but working for him is probably a different story. He probably works hard, but working under him is probably shitty. He probably cares, but I don't. Not for you or your supervisor husband who probably make a good living giving the shaft to the employees where he works. So stop replying to my messages please, for once in your life be decent and let another human being have the last word in a conversation and piss off.

This message board was put here for employees and consumers to voice concerns about IBC. If you don't like it, go away. Your hostility is so obvious, its laughable. Just go away. Don't respond again and say your not hostile because you are, just go away. Go away you 12 twinky package eating 300 pound jerbrony.

I say we all push the imaginary Ignore button where DENEICE is concerned. If we don't talk to her she will become bored and go away as the attention will not be on her. It seems that she has the same mentality that IBC management does. And it would also appear that she has the same ethics as she enjoys causing trouble and calling names. Don't write me back DENEICE because I refuse to be in any battle with an unarmed person. Just ignore her, route drivers have enough to deal with while at work without having to deal with self rightous people who continue to yell on this board and post garbage.
Amen to the above.

As an outside observer to this message board, I am utterly shocked at how everyone treats each other! As I scrolled down the list I saw about 50% of the posts were in CAPS (aka DENEICE) and the rest of you who responded to her "outgoing" personality have nothing good to say either! If you took the time and energy you spent whining and complaining while writing these stupid posts and put it towards improving your current situation, perhaps this company would pull itself out of the crap hole (from what I gathered while reading)! I was considering applying for a job with this company, but after seeing how everyone treats each other, I am second guessing my decision (I am sure thousands of others feel the same way I do!). True leaders can take honest criticism and improve thier situation accordingly! By being defensive and "losing your cool" is a sign of weakness and insecurity and your actions in writing these horrendous posts is not going to give you that promotion! Instead, you will be miserable and you will suffer accordingly no matter how perfect you think your life is. I am going to take my services elsewhere because your actions are ruining the credibility of the company that pays your salary! When you don't have a job, you can only be angry at yourself for not doing a better job in the first place! |

Comment: Deniece,
you just proved my point about being hostile again. You just wrote I am anal, need a shrink, I'm thin skinned, in denial, and that I'm a bitch. Lets be clear here, thats not hostile? Lady, stop with your anger and insensitivity. Again, let me make this clear to you. Most of us are hard working, caring employees, who are very disheartened by the fascism, demoralization, anger, and hatred projected on us by the dear, sweet management of IBC. To have a person like you degredate people on this board for having like minded opinions and objections about missmanagment and other known shit, shows your bias since we know your husband is a dear and sweet supervisor. You suck. Anger management is your only hope.

YOU CAN PROVE IM HOSTILE? BY USING THE WORD "RETARDED"? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE TERM ACTUALLY MEANS? HERE LET ME SHOW YOU:
Main Entry: 1re?tard
1 : to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishment
2 : to delay academic progress by failure to promote
IT WASNT USED TO DESCRIBE ANYONE WHO IS PHYSICALLY DISABLED AND YOU KNOW THAT. YOU ARE SIMPLY LOOKING FOR A REASON TO BE OFFENDED.
IT REALLY AMAZES ME HOW THIN SKINNED SOME PEOPLE ARE. BEFORE YOU SUGGEST ANGER MANAGEMENT TO ME MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEE A SHRINK YOURSELF TO FIND OUT WHY YOU ARE SO ANAL. I WOULD THINK YOU SHOULD BE VERY CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE ONLINE "SCARES" YOU. ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT PERSON IS SIMPLY BEING POSITIVE AND DEFENDING SUPERVISORS. THIS WHOLE ISSUE HAS BEEN BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION AND MADE INTO SOME WITCH HUNT BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE LOOK FOR THINGS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. SOMEONE STEPS IN AND SAYS "HEY THERE....AT LEAST BE FAIR ABOUT IT" AND SUDDENLY THAT PERSON IS IN NEED OF ANGER MANAGEMENT. DO YOU SEE A PROBLEM HERE? PROBABLY NOT. DENIAL IS A REAL BITCH. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE BEING RIDICULOUS ABOUT IT. AND YOU ARE.
IM INSENSITIVE? UNCARING? HOW ABOUT THE WAY YOU GUYS CARRY ON ABOUT YOURSELVES AND YOUR OWN SITUATION WITHOUT ANY REGARDS TO HOW OTHER PEOPLE FEEL. YOURE NOT EVEN FAIR ABOUT IT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SUPERVISORS GO THROUGH....YET YOU ARE QUICK TO SAY THAT THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH WORTHLESS.....THEY ARE STUPID....BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO MAINTAIN A ROUTE...THEY ARE LAZY AND ONLY GET PROMOTED BECAUSE THEY BELONG TO SOME SECRET CLUB THAT IS OUT TO GET YOU. PARANOID MUCH? YET IM THE ONE WITH ISSUES. SURE. YOU NEED TO GET OVER YOURSELF AND STOP TRYING TO FIND A REASON TO BE MAD. IF ANYONE IS ANGRY HERE ITS THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT ANYONE AND EVERYTHING. |

You are hostile, and I can prove it. You used the word retarded when describing some people. Come now, that word is very unpleasant. What the hell is wrong with you. Your use of that word sucks. Just cause some people maybe special or not in the local your in, doesn't mean you have to be so mean.
Get into an anger management class A.S.A.P. You are truly a disturbed individual and extremely insensitive, and you scare me. Again, anger management is your only hope.

I have purchased and started to eat a Hostess Cherry Fruit Pie and it has something strange in it. No one seems to know what it is. It is either hair, fibers from a brush or spider legs. Who Knows. I am very upset about this situation. I have been a long time lover of the cherry fruit pies.

I recently visited one of your bread stores , and realized various selections weren't available . I asked the store clerk when they expect more to be restocked , to my disappointment , I was told that these products ,{ Hobos Caramel ,
Suzy Q's , Orange Spice cupcakes }are now discontinued . I believe these cakes were some of the best sellers , and hope you return them to stock. I enjoy shopping at your bread store and don't want to change to a different store , such as Rainbo ,
so PLEASE take my request into consideration .

Comment: With Mike leaving soon the plant is going down faster.I mean it wasn't pleasant with Mike but the vultures below him will really stab each otherinthe back to keep their jobs. Thats the problem the rest of the management cannot work together. They are nice to each other face to face but when they turn their backs they cut each other down. That is why this plant will never be successful. They do not know what team work is .I still don't know how these people sleep at night. If a regular employee says something they will nail that person to the wall or make their life miserable. They always say we don't do that but they never prove they don't.The good-old boy system and ass-kissers seem to be the only happy ones there. |

Comment: Henderson if Soar rummor are true it will be nice with Mike Connell gone hopefully they will also let Lang out of Bismarck go I have never met such an angry person with such a temper I do not work in Billings and run a route out in eatern Montana . Lang has always talked poorly of Mike Connell behind his back but when he was around Connell he always seem to suck up to him . Lang is poorly educated and appears to be in way over his head with his current position Hopeful the people from SOAR will see this and deal with it |

If you are losing your plant manager and the head of engineering is going to run the plant you guys are in trouble. He couldn't bend down he would have his assistant up his butt. Knowing all this I can see why your production has applied for other jobs in the company. |

Recently we purchased a loaf of your Stone Ground 100% Whole Wheat bread at our local Kroger store. The particular loaf we purchased was very chewy. Our past experience with your bread told us this was unusual. At first we thought it was only the first couple of slices. Common sense told us that if one slice is that way they all are. Other than the ?chewyness? of the bread it was fine.

Comment:
A few days ago we purchased a box of Hostess Cupcakes from the Super Wal-Mart in Layton, Utah. The 'Last Sale Date" was April 26. The Code behind the sell date was 32099 0243. In this box were 8 wrapped cupcakes and what looked like a partially eaten unwrapped piece of cupcake that was hardened and quite disgusting looking. I have attached some photo's. I talked to Elly in the Salt Lake City office and she notified Leon Oborn, District Sales Manager, of the problem. He came over and picked up the offending item and assured us that he would be sending the hardened cupcake piece to Kansas City for analysis. We were assured by Mr. Oborn that your investigative staff would be getting in touch with us concerning the out-come of your findings.
About a month ago, my wife notified someone at the Salt Lake City office about some concerns she had about the frosting on your Hostess Cupcakes being stale, dried out and crumbling off the cupcakes. She was told "we have never had any complaints before" but would refer the problem to Ray DeHart in the Ogden, Utah bakery. We don't know if that happened or not, but the frosting on the cupcakes has not improved. We have been enjoying your cupcakes for along time, and it has been only in the 6 months or so that we have noticed a problem concerning the frosting. We would like to continue buying the cupcakes, but not if we have to discard half of the box or more just to get a few good ones. At this time it is doubtful that we will waste any more money on a sub-standard inedible product.

Comment: The present corporate heads need to be replaced and not promoted. The stockholders need to demand the big wigs resign. Its all their fault all of us are in this position and not the workers, or the plant managers. Who puts these people in charge of these bakerys? The big wigs in corporate KC. All blame must go on them. Time for change is here. Corporate big wigs will continue to get their pay checks no matter how low the stock will go. All new leadership is needed. You have the power shareholders. Speak up and be heard. Vote them out. |

Comment: Everyone,
I feel your pain with regards to management and your HR representatives. We here in GR can only hope that a number of DM's are shown the door on June 1. One of their latest foibles is to complain about some of the most senior route drivers then comment on how some of them will be faced with "forced retirement". This same manager has also commented on how he is going to have to go back on a route when his job is eliminated. Seems the only way for a non bargaining unit member to go on a route is if one happens to be open....(connect the dots here people.) Don't ever waste your time trying to address your concerns about management practices with your local HR rep. Even if you do it in writing, and set a deadline for a response, it will be to no avail. What we need to do is address our concerns about our current regime in Kansas City and what they have done to our company through other avenues besides this website. We are all seeing the same things around the country, but what about those who set investment ratings? Maybe we should be asking the experts at places like Golman Sachs Wachovia etc. to look at the current management practices, a marketing program that targets the 4 year old consumer and a product development group that is consistently late to the party with "new, saleable products" (See carb action) We have more brand equity in Twinkie and Wonder than exists in the Coca-Cola ribbon but we have yet to capitalize on it. It's time that we as employees spoke out against our managers, not as subordinates, but as stakeholders and even shareholders in IBC. Unfortunately our options are limited as individuals. But we can resort to writing letters to some of the larger newspapers around the country, offering specific examples of the types of harrassment and faulty decision making that everyone describes here. We should also be appealing our grievences to the NLRB and/or the Department of Labor, (specifically the wage and hour division) and doing to Jim Elsesser what Disney shareholders did to Michael Eisner. NO CONFIDENCE!!! With program SOAR floundering, and Accenture taking the money and running, (Remember, that Accenture used to go by another name...Arthur Andersen consulting, and old habits die hard!!!! (Enron anyone?)) We need to take charge.
It is time for regime change here at IBC. But , we need to look for ways to expidite the process. If you have issues with HR, contact the program SOAR website. Request replys withinn certain deadlines. Also let them know that you have CC'd your local. Let them know that non response is unacceptable and you will contact that proper regulatory agency if a timely response is out of the question. Push your union reps. to earn their money. That is what your dues go for. If they can't help you, decertify them and get one that will work for you. We have options, but we need to get off the message board and make things happen. Create solutions, other than asking for personnel changes in the management ranks. We can turn IBC around, but we need to initiate the changes that will need to occur to make it happen. Don't complain about being only one person. There are enough of us out here to make something happen.

Comment: The moral in our plant is at a alltime low you could scrape it off the floor. Most people don't say much because they need their jobs feed their families. The thing is nobody cares how they do their jobs because its came to this point because they see how management is acting.Company doesn't have kiss employee's ass but treat them with respect and show them your pride of your job .If you want a good job done treat people fairly.Good luck to the person whose going to take the fall after MIKE LEAVES. |

Comment: Lets see here, she says she's not hostile yet continues to post in caps because no one is gonna make her stop and it's what she wants to do. She is only here defending her hubby and tells us she gets off on confrontation. We haven't seen any posts from her hubby because she does this in secret (hubby doesn't know about this board) It's ok for her to use sexist terms such as "dahlin" cuz she's from texas. She doesn't have to work cuz her hubby makes enough to support her, her kid and thier dog that pisses on her new carpet. Sound like someone you want to invite for dinner? I'm glad that this venue is entertaining for her. If her hubby was a good supervisor he would slap her right off this board for insiting so many employees. At least now the folks from texas know who to look out for. Is your texan supervisor married to Denise????? If so tell him what she's doing. If he's even half the man she is he'll restrict her from the computer for a while. |

Comment: Denise,
Lets forget about your dear husband for one second and concentrate on you for a moment. Anger management would do wonders for your hostile attitude. The views expressed by most people on this board are so close to the truth, it should scare the hell out of you that such behavior goes on with this company. Frankley, your snotty attitude is uncalled for, most of us are hard working, caring employees, who are very disheartened by the fascism, demoralization, anger, and hatred projected on us by the dear, sweet management of IBC. To have a person like you degredate people on this board for having like minded opinions and objections about missmanagment and other known shit, shows your bias since we know your husband is a dear and sweet supervisor. You suck.

Comment: Here are notes from the Q & A period of the live webcast. I wrote them as the questions were asked. Unfortunatly the Q & A period continuted after the scheduled hour.
New Bread line called Bakers Inn 8 hearty varieties including 1 low carb
Hostess Cakes increased in sales, Drake?s and Dolly Madison products decreased in sales.
SOAR 3 years to implement. They plan to continue the SOAR program.
Company could be in default of loan obligations if the next quarter earnings don?t improve. They are looking for other options to refinance the debt.
Lack of volume growth is the primary factor for the income loss.
Bakers Inn line will launch cable TV ads and print ads starting June 1st. Company has put focus of this product on Quality to ensure success. Shelf life of 13 days!!! There is some derogation of the product but if it?s kept in an air-conditioned house it will last longer than 13 days.
Dividends were cut to accelerate the SOAR program
They have opened up 3 distribution centers and are working out the bugs.
They have issues with the Unions. The company feels that the Unions are unreasonable, but more reasonable than they used to be.
In spite of the decline of white breads in the market the company will continue to support Wonder Bread.
Snack products are targeted towards Kids and Young Men.
Significant ramp up regarding SOAR will not be disclosed until the next quarter.
Physical locations for Bakers Inn production is Philadelphia PA, Columbus OH, Springfield OH and Los Angeles CA.

Comment: Interstate Bakeries Corporation (ticker: IBC, exchange: New York Stock Exchange) News Release - 15-Apr-2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IBC Announces Third Quarter Results
KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2004--Interstate Bakeries Corporation (NYSE:IBC), the nation's largest wholesale baker and distributor of fresh baked bread and sweet goods, today reported a net loss for the quarter ended March 6, 2004 of $(0.15) per diluted share on a net sales decline of approximately 2.5 percent from the comparable quarter in the prior year. Included in the quarter's results were restructuring charges of $1,463,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, related to the closures and restructurings of bakeries and thrift store locations initiated during fiscal 2004 and 2003 and a $3,000,000, or $0.05 per diluted share, charge related to the potential settlement of a securities class action that has been pending against the Company since October 2003.
The Company said a reduction in unit volume, along with its continuing challenge to deal with overcapacity and a high fixed cost infrastructure, was the primary driver in the quarter's loss. The unit decline was partially attributable to an industry-wide trend of declining white bread sales.
For the 16 weeks ended March 6, 2004, the Company reported:

Also included in fiscal 2004 third quarter results was a charge amounting to $0.05 per diluted share related to a potential legal settlement.
For the forty weeks ended March 6, 2004, the Company reported:
Net sales of $2,664,524,000, a 1.6 percent decrease in comparison to the prior year's comparable period net sales of $2,707,761,000.
Operating income of $43,566,000, compared to the previous year's comparable period operating income of $80,835,000. The Company reported that branded sweet goods unit volume for the third quarter of fiscal 2004 was down 2.8 percent from last year's comparable period while its total bread volume fell 5.6 percent and its branded bread units sold were down 3.5 percent. "We believe the consumer drivers in today's market are convenience, value and health. In this quarter, the height of `diet' season, we believe the `health conscious' marketplace was specifically focused on seeking out low-carb alternatives," said IBC's Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, James R. Elsesser. "We see downward pressure across most sectors of our business, as do our competitors. As a result we are striving to better manage our costs, while preparing to introduce new products that appeal to today's consumer."
In an effort to address evolving consumer demands, the Company introduced a line of low-carb breads, under the "Home Pride Carb Action" trade name, during the third quarter. Additionally, the Company is finalizing plans for a major nationwide rollout on April 19, 2004 of its new "Baker's Inn" products, a line of distinctively-packaged super premium breads. On the sweet goods side, the Company introduced new Caramel HoHos nationwide in February and is giving greater emphasis to more seasonally theme-based products, as well as offering consumers added value through bonus pack prom |

Comment: Right on, Red Duke! Yo, "anonymous in LA".. I suffer from no illusions that my job isn't "toast"! What I meant about,"if you have to ask ..." is that if they're staying, they know it. We don't know and therefore we aren't high enough in the food chain to matter.
I'm hoping for a clean, merciful, stab in the back to be done. I hope I don't get dragged along like the route drivers and get the news at the very last minute. |

Comment: I think DENEICE has way too much time on her hands. She's already hooked up with lower management so she should have no difficulty getting a job with IBC. I say we all concentrate our vibes on DENEICE so she can get a job and get off this board. FYI DENEICE before you insult people about grammar and laugh at them check your own. And you don't have a clue what people are doing to improve their lots in life. Just because you see someone complain here doesn't mean they aren't doing something about it. If you knew anything about the corporate structure of this company you would quickly realize that as soon as you open your mouth and complain to someone in management, you are treated differently, and not in a good way. Are we all to conclude that since you "GET OFF ON VERBAL SPARRING" that you really don't have anything to offer here other than to incite the employees with your holier than thou attitude? And I guess we also now know that you are miserable in your life because you said, PROVING THAT THE PHRASE "MISERY LOVES COMPANY" IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE? Of course, there is no need for a question mark at the end of this sentence because structurally it is a statement, but hey we all got the picture and realize that you make your own rules and live your life looking through rose-colored glasses. |

Comment: DENISE,
You can type with your caps lock turned off, or YOU CAN TYPE WITH YOUR CAPS LOCK ON. This latter is annoying, when typing it denotes shouting, are you really that angry? Maybe you are that angry, we could never know, but I surmise maybe you need anger magement. As far as your husband being a good super, my experience with any IBC super is well I'll put it this way: They got promoted because of the good ole boy system, or they were lousy at their job and were promoted, or they sucked up for the promotion. Basically, your husband is irrelevent, when soar fires him, then what? Most if not all of the management will get whats coming to them!
AND BY GAWD, THEY WILL DESERVE EVERY DAMN THING COMING TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Comment: I have been told the Baker's Inn will "save" this company. Of course the real deal may well be that senior management are looking at the roll out weeks to see who orders a ton and who doesn't. In our branch a supervisor is hand checking and ordering craploads of the stuff on every route. Maybe not the last chance for the comapny, but a last chance for mid level managers.
I have worked with many supervisors and managers, what determins a good manager and a bad one is a matter of personality, and willingness to work. IBC is full of lousy crap for brains supervisors, there are also some very good ones. I do not know Deneice's husband as I work in (OTHER) :) but Deneice, you think your husband does a good job, the people dogging him are transferring the angst they feel towards their own supervisors, don't take it personal, they are just lashing out for shits and giggles, and you are making yourself the target De Jour by yelling back with all caps (a little annoying to be honest). If you husband is a good supervisor as you say, his experience and work ethic will carry over to another comany after our senior management finishes raiding the silver and bolts for Acupulco.
June 1, everyone watch your local management run riot for the next month and a half, it's rather funny actually.

Comment: Hey DENISE, for someone who doesn't want to come off as a "SNOTTY BITCH" your not doing a very good job of it. In case you haven't figured it out yet there isn't any sympathy for your Wonderful Hard Working Kiss Ass hubby here. If you don't like what your reading then maybe the solution is for you to go away. Your man may be a great guy at home, but you don't have a clue what he's like at work, unless your one of his employees. Which by the way would surprise none of us here. We are also all happy that you have new carpet. You have that because your Supurb hubby gets part of what we earn while he sits on his ass and we are out busting ours.
the only good supervisor is the one that quit or got canned.
ANON IN LA....I NEVER SAID MY MAN WAS PERFECT. IM SIMPLY DEFENDING MY HUSBAND... *AND OTHER GOOD SUPERVISORS* WHO ARE OUT THERE. IM JUST USING MY HUSBAND AS AN EXAMPLE. IM NOT TRYING TO COME OFF AS SOME SNOTTY BITCH WHO THINKS THE WORLD IS PERFECT! I JUST HAPPEN TO APPRECIATE WHAT A HARD WORKING MAN MY HUSBAND IS. I DONT SEE WHY PEOPLE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. IF SOMEONE INSINUATED THAT YOUR HUSBAND WAS A LAZY ASS KISSER WHO ONLY GOT THE JOB BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE "GOOD OL BOY NETWORK" WOULD YOU DEFEND HIM OR JUST LET BITTER F**KS LUMP HIM IN WITH THE CRAPPY SUPERVISORS OUT THERE? PERFECT WIFE AND FAMILY? LOL! NOT HARDLY! WE ALL HAVE SKELETONS DOLL! AND NO, MY DOG ISNT PERFECT EITHER. THE BITCH KEEPS PISSING ON MY NEW CARPET! ;) |

Besides the corruption, hitting on everyone that wear pants is disgusting (especially since she's already in her second marriage, maybe she's trying to work on her third). Comment: Project SOAR, they are designed to transform companies for attractive LBO's, when a number three company buys a number one company, and turns it into a number three company you do the math. Employee morale is at an all time low, Poor management structure, good ole boy network that starts at the top. Managers working outside of there areas to act as informants for general plant managers, foul language GSM's, no education, you will never retain quality educated socially skilled managers, it sad to see the slide of a onetime good company, the bonus driven general manager system has created the current state of affairs, the Kemp's of the world and Telo's. No capital investment in the bakeries equals profitability and bonus time, however as in life it soon catches up to you and now we are at the state we are in. I can only assume that profit centers will react the same. There are quality managers, however in time they have tainted views because of the egos of those above them. This is fact. If you have problems, find proper solutions, do not promote, talk to the troops they will be honest with you, in the field most battles are won, be honest, treat employee's fair, build your business and have a heart. This is from a member of management, who will never be promoted because he does not believe in there poor management style, wish i could chande it, but I have no voice, did i mention that i respect the hardwork my staff does. We purchased a two pack of Wonder bread from our local Sam's Club. After finishing the first loaf we opened the second loaf and found that there was a light gray line running through the entire loaf. This line appears to be just on the surface of each slice, on both sides. It's rather narrow and runs diagonal across the loaf. |

I recently purchased a loaf of Merita Butter Bread at Albertsons.
After using about half, the next two slices has something distinctly foreign on the bottom of the crust. It was soft and a dark brown in contract to the crust. Not very appertizing to say the least.

Comment: Question...Has anyone ever had any problems with the Jax HR Department/Plant or anything to that affect? Please speak up. I know in the past if you went above their heads because you felt they weren't listening, you were punished by being yelled at, cussed out, or pulled into the plant manager's office because somehow it got back to them, but this needs to change. Please speak up; something needs to be said...soon, before more things are swept under the rug. This unfair treatment needs to stop. There are actual laws out there made by the government, not by the managers. I am tired of the intimidation factor led on by Merita. |

Comment: I am anxiously awaiting the downfall of IBC.
Maybe once IBC fails, no one will hire the Continental members of the Board and finally put an end to ESL It has closed Continental, will soon close IBC.
How many times must ESL destroy a company before the idiot board members realize that it is not a good idea?

Comment: Sigh. I'm not really looking to start a thread but just looking to air out my beefs. Excuse my typing because I'm trying to do this on a laptop and these stinkin' little keys aren't the easiest things to hit.
Started working for this company in '79. I hired in as "management" (a nifty way for ITT/CBC to get around paying me overtime), "Garage foreman". $275.00 a week, paid vacation, sick days and a pension plan (.0125% X years service X final salary). Freakin' Jimmy Carter (God bless the man but he sure had some STUPID ideas!) came up with his " hold down the wages to control the inflation rate" and ITT/CBC took him to heart.
Slogged along with my 3% increase per annum until Ralston took over. Pension plan got cut to .01125%, got downgraded to "production", lost a week a year vacation, became a non-union salaried employee (this is a right to "starve" state) and went three years without a raise. A wife, two kids, a house, seemingly endless child-rearing expenses, $30K of mechanic tools, what was a man to do? So I stuck it out.
IBC bought us and froze my retirement at 17 years (yeehaa, I will be eligible for $424 a month when I'm 65, what did you say the company insurance was costing, $235?) and enrolled us in a 401K plan. Now I am not bitching about the 401K plan. It's a good plan IF you are going to be in it for 20 years or so. I'm unfortunate because I won't be here that long.
It appears that my job and all those of you routemen and supervisors will be history as of June 06 at the latest.
This isn't the worst company I've ever worked for but I don't owe it anything and I have never encouraged anyone to apply here.
Yeah, we can all complain about management, mechanics and salesmen and we all will have our points but what it comes down to is that this entity we work for is no longer a "company". It's a business and none of us mean as much as the all-mighty profit!
Welcome to the new millenium! Company loyalty is a thing of the past. Why blame the big shits for grabbing their brass ring? I guess we need to become greedy little piglets ourselves! God bless George Orwell!
Whew! I got THAT out of my system! |

When soar comes through your town, look out baby, your job is going down. You could go work at a car wash and bring it to its knees, oh, ive seen some of you on your knees, you know who you are, some of you were driving a new company car. How will you pay your bills or support your family, will you turn to crime after the car wash fails? I forgot, you stole enough money from IBC to make it through the hard times. |

Comment: Hey look at all the upper managementand see how they got their jobs. Most of them bitch so much wheb they were a regular worker and cut the throat of their boss so they could advance. The only one that deserved to be promoted was the production manager. He was a good employee who worked his way up the hard way. But with all the back biting and stabbinggoing on with rest of management it has nowhere to go but down. This was a plant that was worth telling people how great and proud you were to work there .Now it is embarassment to tell anybody where you work. The management now doesn't care about imagine or what product looks like. It looks as if IBC wants to fail and to be bought out. That is sad because the Billings Plant as alot of good employees who do care. |

Comment: I worked for ibc for 6 months as a route salesman. Why the hell would anyone want to be a route salesman at ibc. I had to get up at 3 AM, go to this rundown, shithole warehouse (cold as hell in the winter) and load this very old piece of shit, no starting wreck they called a route truck (more like a glorified shit spreader). This took 1 to 2 hours, then you drive around city looking for your drops and if you are a new guy on a run you are SOL BIGTIME grrrrr, then the truck breaks down, call bakery, phone answers, put you on hold for a few minutes, mechanic answers phone, gets all pissed off cause I have no clue why this 1972 ford route truck doesnt run. Mechanic finally shows up with different route truck, load all bakery stuff to new truck and try to get back on schedule, truck backfires several times causing huge amounts of smoke to discharge from exhaust, as a result truck quits running. (sigh) Call route manager this time instead of bakery, phone rings, put on hold for several minutes, Super answers gets pissed cause hes trying to run another route vacated by previous digruntled route salesman and tells me to call bakery. Phone rings, place me on hold for several minutes, truck shop super answers puts me on hold so that i can convey message to mechanic, after several minutes on hold, super answers again wondering who I am and why Im on hold and after i explain my situation again, he tells me that mechanic is away fixing previous route truck that broke down and i will have to wait a few hours...... Long pause from me, I bite my tongue and say ok. $ hours later, mechanic approaches looking extremely Pissed because he has had no morning break or lunch yet and I mean hes PISSED. He fixes truck im on my way, get to store, clerk yells im late and hes pissed, cell phone rings, its route super wondering where im at and why im running so late. Im about to snap IM EXTREMELY PISSED NOW and throw cell phone down the street. I tell clerk story, he understands, proceed to unload, find out im at wrong store, OMG the horror.
Those of you out there in the trenches selling bakery products for this company, a word of advice.
WHATS WRONG WITH YOU STUPID BASTARDS. YOU LIKE THIS ABUSE? YOU ACTUALLY F****N LIKE THIS? FIND ANOTHER JOB RIGHT AWAY. YOU WILL BE HAPPIER.TRUST ME!!! |

SEC Charges Ex-Interstate Bakery Director
Wednesday April 7, 12:39 pm ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. securities regulators on Wednesday announced that they had settled insider trading charges against a former director of Interstate Bakeries Corp. (NYSE:IBC - News) and his son, a broker.
The Securities and Exchange Commission's complaint charged that E. Garrett Bewkes, Jr. gave his son material, non-public information while a director of Interstate Bakeries, a maker of Twinkies and Wonder bread.
Without admitting or denying the charges, Bewkes and his son, Robert Bewkes, will each pay a penalty of $67,517. Robert Bewkes also will pay an additional $67,517 fine and agreed to a ban on associating with any broker, dealer or investment adviser.
Kay Lackey, an SEC assistant regional director in New York, called their conduct "egregious."
"It's not a huge dollar amount, but both people had very well-defined duties not to have information and be passing it on. The father was a director, the son was a broker," Lackey told Reuters.
"If you're trading on inside information, you're breaking the law. People shouldn't think there is a safe haven below a certain dollar amount, and I think it's important to send that message," she said.
Garry Bewkes, a former chairman and CEO of American Bakeries Corp., resigned from IBC's board in July 2003, the SEC said. Robert Bewkes was employed by UBS Financial Services, a unit of UBS AG (UBSN.VX) until June 2003, according to NASD records.
Attorneys representing both men were unavailable for comment.
According to the SEC's complaint, on Jan. 29, 2003, a few days before a company board meeting, Garry Bewkes received a "highly confidential report detailing the company's deteriorating financial condition," the SEC said in a statement.
Garry Bewkes called his son and told him the company's business was "lousy" and advised him to sell, the SEC said. Within 10 minutes, Robert Bewkes had sold 16,230 shares of stock owned by himself, family members and his brokerage clients.
By selling the shares eight days before the company went public with revised earnings estimates, they avoided losses of about $67,517, the SEC said.

Comment: When you buy bread and open the new package and find holes in it, its because mice got in the bag.
When you buy bread and open the new package and find green and stale bread in it, its because bakeries put bread in what the call CODE AHEAD bags. IBC currently codes 7 days ahead and are planning to implement a 12 day code ahead plan. You figure it out!!
When you buy a box of doughnuts or package of twinkies and find them a bit chewy and rock hard, its because a dumbass manager added them to a store order and they were sitting in that store for 2 weeks before they made it to a shelf. You figure it out.
When the CEO and existing management of said IBC Corp buy thousands of shares in this company, lie about sales to inflate stock prices, then sell their thousands of shares, stock crashes to the earth in bankrupted like fashion. You figure it out. -->IDIOT.

They have know idea what they are missing!!!! I know the old saying, "You don't miss what you've never had", but I've had and now I miss.

I understand Dolly Madison donuts are produced by Interstate Brands and this is the only contact I can find for the product.
Why in the world is the top of the donut box slathered with glue on all three sides so the only way to open it is to tear it apart with no hope of it ever closing correctly again? |

Comment: Why is the same old management still here? Things will never change for the better till most of the present leadership is gone. Too many friends and relatives in management positions. These jobs are based on friendships and not qualifications. How can we be profitable and sucessful when leadership is based on the buddy system? Lets get some new leadership and with that will come new ideas. Its time for changes on the upper levels otherwise the boat will sink. |

Comment: excuse me, denny lesser was a crook who had a key to the all the branches. His late night raids for product were famous. He would come in after the transport truck left and take what he wanted for his friends, family and to stock his jewelry store for his customers. I hardly think that Denny Lesser is what anyone would consider a good supervisor. Also, I seriously doubt that post was from Tom Scott. Tom Scott has better grammar than that post shows. |

wow i cant believe this site over the last 2 days i have been reading quite a bit on this site and as a ibc employee i would have to say most of what i have read is true i have been with this company for 19 years as a route sales rep and i can honestly say the only reason i am here is for a pay check (it wasnt like that times has changed for the worst ) i have worked for over 20 supervisors over the years and there have been only 4 supervisors that did a good job all 4 have retired or left the job one of them was the man who came up with the cartoon carator twinkie the kid ( denny lesser ) over the past 5 years the company really treated this man unfarly in my opinion what else can i say well i can go on forever i should write a book but i have to start the route at 230 am so i will be brief there is racism in this company seen it first hand i seen people get fired for petty issues also my boss is gay and his lover has the hiv virus and he wonders why he never gets promoted and i heard through the grapeline he is hiv positive man i hope not if so i will find another route . as far as the products go i think they are the best tasting out there i am glad i never purchased any stock over the years well its time to go hit that clock |

In the past 22 yrs I have bought many coffee cake jr's. In the past month to six weeks at an average of 6 boxes a week they have NOT been very good, they have been over cooked and very very dry. This is very disapointing because when they are cooked right they taste like marshmellos and melt in your mouth. With them costing $2.99 per box it is very costly to have them not be eaten.
I like this product very much if they have changed the way the make them please let me know.
If there is anything you can do to help me with this problem please do so it has been very costly as I have already stated. |

Comment: We often shop in your thrift store in Greenfield Wi. Now, I been a customer for many years at various stores, the rudist thing in the experience is when the older lady who checks us out is more concerned with her phone call than trying to assist us. This is not a one time situation, she is suppose to be a manager, maybe you should hire my teenagers, they would work for snacks and give you the same phone time. Are you people blind |

IBC trains the Human recource dept. to everything in there power to life miserable for most employees. IBC is a good employer but a couple bad apples in management and ass kissers do make it miserable.Lets put everything behind us and make this plant the best it can be ,before we become a distribution center. |

Why do thriftstore cashiers not all wear unifprms, are they embarrassed or something because it is not professional to wear some of the things I see on some of these gals and sometimes I am not sure if they work there or are a customer. Comment: To the Louisiana Thriftstore worker,
I am also an employee of a thriftstore and I was having problems on the job so I called Kansas City. The problem was not handled when I wanted it handled it was handled. HR in my area did nothing but swept it under the rug to keep from dealing with it. I almost quit my job but I didn't I was determined to stay and fight. Call the number on the dishonesty policy posted in your store, this is Kansas City. It took them about 2 weeks to investigate in my area. |

Imagine my suprise when I brought your website up to make a comment about your "Beefsteak Rye" the first comment I see relates to the holes in the bread by another consumer.
I like the other consumer, and sure there are more out there, was very disturbed when opening yet another loaf and finding more holes than bread. It makes it pretty tough to use the bread for, I assume what it was intended for, making a sandwich. Or maybe you have changed it's intended use to a strainer for used motor oil! |

This comment is related to an unfair situation that had taken place. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I was an employee at one of your outlet stores. A few weeks ago I left a message saying that I had been treated unfairly at my place of work. I was told that if a problem had occured than I should tell it to the human resources manager in Alexandria, Louisiana. Well, I did and instead of getting results I nothing. How do you expect to run a company if you ingnore the fact that your employees are being treated unfairly. I was told that Kansas City was higher authority so this is why I am addressing this to you. Legal action is the last thing that I want to deal with but I am not afaid to go through with it. I know that there is some in Kansas City that can give me a response to this message and I know that there is someone that I can tell my situation too. So please when you get this message don't ignore it listen to the unfairness that occurs in your company.
Please don't let this unfairness go on anylonger. |

I just wanted to thank you for bringing back the "Great (Old) Taste" of Drakes Products! As an avid fan of Devil Dogs, I was very dissapointed when you changed to the "Great New Taste". As I wrote in my letter to you - the Great New Taste was not so great. So - thanks for bringing back the good old Devil Dogs I know and love. I do have to tell you - it took me over one month of hemming and hawing to try a box again after receiving your letter. I wanted to make sure that you really changed the recipe back before I tried them again. Thanks again. |

At Billings plant the production manager does not stick up for employees who does the work. He is so scared of upper management that he will never be a man again. It is to bad because he is a hard worker. He worked his way up but he has lost perspective on reality. He forgets what he used to do as a employee that the company would not like to hear about. I personally like him but I wish he could bring back the Bakery the way it use to be.It was so productive and the product looked so good but politics took over and he is scared to stick up for himself. To bad because he is a good leader. |

To the person who will miss her HoHo's from reading this horrible website:
You should also never eat anything that is a packaged food product, nor any produce you did not grow yourself. Hostess produces Millions of snack cakes a month, every once in a while perfection is missed, becuase our company operates in the real world, just as all other companies do. Your HoHo's will miss you too, along with every snack cake produced by any comapny if your are consistent. |

I am writing this to you regarding the Dolly Madison Cherry Real Fruit Pie I purchased today like I do everyday on my way to work.
When I ate this pie today I actually bit into a cherry seed & broke my tooth because of it, I still have the wrapper & the seed that broke my tooth & just wanted to let you know you need to put a warning on the outside of this package that it can contain possible seeds & to be aware of it, I've already had to contact my dentist because of the big crack it made on my tooth & I'm very disappointed that this could happen in your packaging of this product. |

We are customers of Wonder Bread Product, and enjoy Wonder's Premium Cinnamon Raisin Bread, and recently our purchase of that product has a defect in it's packing. It seems that the "plunger" that pushes the bread into it's package is not set right. The open end of the bread is pushed in to far. It makes getting slices from the package impossible.
The end is pushed into the center of the loaf. We are hoping that our future purchases will be better packaged.

I live in Colonial Heights, Virginia but spent time as a child in New Jersey. One of my fond childhood memories is when my grandmother would come home from the grocery store with several boxes of Drakes Yodels. She would refrigerate them and give them to the kids as a treat. I was wondering if there were any stores in my area that stock the rake brand. |

I recently purchased two(2) , ten (10) count boxes of yodels and found them not to be the yodels of old. the chocolate coating was not complete leaving the cake open at the fold to air causing some staleness which had the cake tasting a bit on the hard side, the filling was ok. We served the yodels to our grandchildren and they weren't too pleased with what they given, this after Grandpa told them they were the best made cakes around. we had thrown out the first carton so I can't give you the numbers from that box but we still have the second box and those numbers are, use by apr 19 , 56 086,11:17, upc4126125223. It is very disconcerting for Grandpa to brag about a product looked upon by the grandchildren as not being so great and which they were not to happy with. |

To whom it may concern:
About 40 years ago, after much trial and error, my wife and I and our
children began what has amounted to a life-long use of Butternut Wheat
bread.
The children (3) are now married (2) and have children of their own (3-
our grandsons!), and still prefer and use Butternut Wheat bread.
But, and here's the big but, about 3 months ago I was diagnosed with
type-2 diabetes. (I am now 64 years of age.) As you may well know,
type-2 diabetes does not require insulin injections, but does require
one to limit their intake of carbohydrates. To that end, we began a
search of breads with low carbohydrates. We tried every brand we could
find. The truth is, they all tasted like either cardboard or medicine!
Finally, as a last resort, I told my wife to go back to the Butternut
Wheat that we had enjoyed for so many years. I decided that I could just
eat less of it, and perhaps cut carbs in some other way, but at least I
could enjoy my bread once again.
Then one day last week, in one of our local grocery stores, with me
along ( an unusual activity!) I reached for the Butternut Wheat, and
happened to spy Butternut Light Wheat on the shelf next to it, in with
the other "lo-carb" cardboard junk.. The ONLY reason we found it was
because of the sticker, on the END of the loaf, that stated that the
bread contained but 9 carbs.
Well, I have to tell you we almost got thrown out of that store. We were
dancing in the aisles, turning back flips and cartwheels, and singing
the praises of Butternut and generally causing a spectacle. (Ok,so that
part's a lie! )
But we did buy it, have told one of our sons' father-in-laws who also is
a recent type-2 diagnosee about it, and do love it and just wanted to
tell you that you need to advertise it more and put an even bigger
sticker on the package, so people like us can find it easier.

Oh MY! I love Hostess products but I don't know how I'll ever eat them again after reading this horrific web site.
For goodness sake, customers should have a separate, PRIVATE method of posting complaints. Why are they mixed with the employee board? That makes no sense at all.
And does anyone from the company ever respond to any of these complaints? It doesn't look like it. What terrible customer service!
When you produce millions of snack cakes a year, I guess mold, flies, metal shards, etc., happen. But you really shouldn't let customers read about them. It's disgusting and they're gonna think about them every time they go to reach for a Hostess or Wonder product on the store shelf.
Damn I'll miss my HoHos!!!! |

Reuters
Wall St sees IBC putting cost cuts before a merger
Tuesday April 6, 4:21 pm ET
By Nichola Groom
NEW YORK, April 6 (Reuters) - Investors should expect more aggressive cost-cutting by Interstate Bakeries Corp. (NYSE:IBC - News), the maker of Twinkies and Wonder bread, which may be sprucing itself up for sale, analysts say.
Long rumored to be a takeover target, Kansas City, Missouri-based Interstate was grappling with slowing sales of snack cakes and rising commodity costs before the popularity of low-carbohydrate diets started crimping the bread business.
Analysts say the company only recently started implementing operational cost cuts and has been behind the curve in introducing new products.
In the 52 weeks ended Feb. 29, Interstate's fresh bread unit sales at grocery stores were down 5.5 percent, while unit sales for the total fresh bread category fell 2.6 percent, according to tracking firm Information Resources Inc.
During the same period, unit sales of Hostess snack cakes rose a slight 0.1 percent, underperforming the 1.7 percent rise in unit sales for the whole category.
In light of such performance, experts say Interstate, which in the last two weeks slashed its earnings outlook and eliminated its dividend to conserve cash, has a lot more work to do before potential buyers bite.
"The discussions have gone on several times ... the buyers look like they are pretty okay with their portfolios," said U.S. Trust analyst Herb Achey, who has a "sell" rating on Interstate shares and owns none.
Achey said he expects "a very large restructuring, which may have been kicked off by this dividend decrease ... more plant closures, significant layoffs, more union negotiations. They have got to bring down their cost structure."
An Interstate spokesman could not be reached for comment on any plans for future cost cuts or a potential sale of the company.
Donald Yacktman, president of Yacktman Asset Management in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, said a merger would make more sense once the company succeeds in reining in costs.
"This kind of business would clearly be better off sold when margins are better than when they're down," Yacktman said. "The odds are they'll try to improve it first."
Others also expect Interstate to keep taking aggressive measures to cut costs, though some think the company does not intend to remain a stand-alone entity.
"The Interstate board, just by naming Jim Elsesser the CEO, probably sent that message to the world," said D.A. Davidson analyst Tim Ramey, who has a "buy" rating on Interstate shares and owns none.
"If they wanted to grow the business and keep it independent forever then I think they would have hired some 40-year-old whiz in the baking business rather than a 57-year-old CFO from another company that had zero baking experience but had good knowledge of cost controls and leveraging cash flow," Ramey said.
Yacktman said he would not be surprised to see Interstate in a merger deal, but was not "counting on it," saying the company's ongoing cost cutting efforts would deliver value in the long run.
Canada's George Weston Ltd (Toronto:WN.TO - News), Mexico's Grupo Bimbo (Mexico:BIMBOA.MX - News) and Chicago-based Sara Lee Corp. (NYSE:SLE - News) are widely considered to be the biggest consolidators in the baking industry.
But analysts do not rule out a leveraged buyout (LBO) or a deal with a privately-held buyer such as McKee Foods Corp., the maker of Little Debbie snack cakes.
Shares of Interstate Bakeries closed at $12.84 Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange (News - Websites)

Anonymous, I hate to sound the pessimist but if you wished to push the issue of a union representative's inaction you would address your complaint to the National Labor Relations Board since you have no basis for civil court action. The NLRB limits you to a few charges available in the Labor Relations Act...in this case it would be failure to represent....this charge would mean that you have to prove that your union rep is competent to represent you and has failed to do so...in a case I filed, the NLRB found the Business Agent incompetent and therefore he was not negligent....I filed again against the Union President that appointed an incompetent to Business Agent and the NLRB also found the President incompetent and therefore not negligent. This may sound funny to you but I can assure you the humor was lost on me....the NLRB suggested I run for office. So as you can see I speak from experience not speculation and as for complaining to you Joint Council or to the division Vice President at the International...each will send you a letter informing you of their concern and their intent to discuss this with your Union Reps and that is as far as it will go. You could even try the Ethical Practices of the International but there will not be a day of reckoning, I can assure you. As far as the pension, I too did very well in the market last year but pension reports issued this year are reporting a year ago results so you will not see the returns increase until your next report...even though the returns are up it may be a few tears before meaningful benefit increases begin again |

Comment: If your union does not enforce their contract, if they act in a way that causes you harm either physically or financially of course you can sue them. Unions are some special intrest group that has 100% protection from prosecution. In fact the labor board loves it when they get complaints about the crooked unions. But before you can file a complaint, you have to go through all the steps to try and resolve whatever the issue is. When the union still doesn't live up to their obligations then you sue. |

Comment: The answer to all the problems is to close more plants. This will keep the company profitable and increase the stock price to the $20 level. There are too many plants anyway. Too much dead weight. Too many route trucks. Outsource is also the answer. Sell the routes to individuals. Save on payroll cost and benefits. Cut back or lose it all. |

Comment: I don't agree that a union member has little legal recourse. While that may be true in any action towards the company in the settlement of a grieved action, it is definitely possible to take legal action against the union when it can be shown that there has been no or simply token represen tation. While not a recommended action it is a course of action to be considered when appropriate. This will definitely get the attention of the International and if there is legitimate cause will put the local business agent on notice.
It also has been mentioned that the union pension funds have sustained investment losses the last 3 years. If I'm not mistaken my ordinary Joe Sixpack investment portfolio grew over 26% last year. Wassup? |

Comment: Anonymous , To be accurate....union dues have absolutely nothing to do with pensions. I do agree with you about members cleaning their own house but I am also aware that it is very difficult for a member, represented by a union, to take any legal action on his own. I personally know of many members that are frustrated by the inaction of their elected representatives and I would not trivialize their added frustration to find what little recourse exists for them. There are many that see non-union as an option and it is to those that I wish to convince that this is not a wise choice (cut off your nose to spite your face). Your point of cleaning your own house is well taken and if a member is paying for a service that he is not getting it is up to the member to change the service provider, union representatives work for and are paid by the members (union dues). |

Comment: Bob, My intent was not to imply that pensions were totally funded by union dues but to point out that those complaining about union dues would more than likely receive benefits far outweighing what they had paid in in dues. Although the pension may be funded by employer contributions you can be absolutely certain that without benefit of union contracts those contributions would be considerably less if at all!
Like I said, there are poor business agents as well as poor members and it is up to the union (we, the membership) to weed both out.
Several member complaints seem to be about a feeling of inadequate representation. I would like to point out that any wronged dues paying member not receiving legitimate representation has other legal recourse. Ther are times when we, the membership, have to clean our own house. |

Your pensions are funded by employer contributions (currently $77 per week for inside workers and $82 per week for drivers in the Chicago area) and the investments made by our fund. In the past two years our fund has experienced losses due to setbacks in the economy and the effect it has had on our stock and bond holdings as well as the expense for the new hall, these losses have prevented the fund from increasing benefits and will continue to do so until the situation improves. As far as the salaries of the officials, I have seen the LM-2 reports for our local and the salaries are consistent with other locals...as to whether you are getting the bang for your buck, I will leave to you to decide. I do not agree with having a recruiter on salary that is not bilingual, nor am I impressed with his record as I have read that the Wonder Thrift Store clerks had to approach the union for admission. I am posting because as I read through the site I noticed many members wondering (no pun intended) if their union was worth it and I can assure you it is better to change the way your union does business then to deal with the company from a non-union position. |

Comment: The Flowers buy out is unlikely, as is a buy out by any other national baker. The stumbling block is the antitrust laws- combining two major producers in many markets will give them too much "market power" and the Justice Dept. will block the merger or require selling off a lot of bakeries and such. |

How could you expect anything else? The same people who post these jobs are also applying for them. Would you risk losing your cushy overpaid job to a mere worker simply because he has a better resume? |

Comment: You can call Security if you find out that someone has been stealing, but it does not do any good. The manager of the WARWICK, R.I. thrift stor manager ( Pauline ) was caught stealing red-handed. She got away with it and got to keep her job. It is WHO you know! The security came and investigated but other people had more pull, so the manager got away with it. |

Comment: James, If you didn't walk out of that office with your severance package in hand then you probably are not going to be getting any severance. As far as cobra you should have received that paperwork within 2 weeks of being laid off. I hope you filed for unemployment if it'savailable in your area. You should call the company that administered your healthcare and talk to them about cobra. Good Luck |

Comment: Was layed off 3/2/04 for lack of work. Was told I would receive my severance package within 5-10 working days. Haven't received anything including COBRA information. Can your office expedite this process? Tomorrow marks the 1 month date with NO information. |

I just want to say one thing to the consumers. If you buy our products and are not satisfied take it back to the store. We are not perfect,we make mistakes like everyone else.I'd be more concerned about the cost of repairing your piece of crap American car, than a loaf of bread. |

Comment: Not defending the union or agents as there are poor business agents just as there are poor union members who try to take advantage of the system. I'm just stating what should be obvious to you with 20 yrs service. You will most likely collect in pension benefits more than you ever paid in in union dues. If you have averaged $50 monthly dues for 20 years you have paid in approx $12,000. What will your monthly retirement benefit be? I'm guessing it will be substantially more than your social security check for which you pay in much more with no representation there either.
I am not affiliated with any union as a representative or agent just another dues paying member who realizes the unions really have little real power as those years are gone. |

I see a lot of the deep fried twinkies stands at state fairs recently in the last few years. Is there any information you can give to me as far as can someone legally use the name "twinkies" on their display when they sell this product after it has been deep fried?

I have been buying Merita Stone Ground 100% whole wheat bread for the past 2 years. I purchased a loaf this weekend from Publix grocery store. I did not pay attention to the loaf until tonight when I went to make a sandwich and to my surprise the loaf weighed only 12 oz and should have been 16 oz. and the slices of bread shrunk to
3 X 4 in size. Someone is not watching quality control to benefit the consumer......I could have taken it back to the grocery store but it is about 9:30 PM and I don't want to go out.
I usually shop at BiLo's and from now on I will have to take more notice as to what I am purchasing and to get my money's worth. If it continues I'll have to purchase another brand. It's too bad as I've been satisfied with this bread. |

I have a letter from your consumer affairs representative that says that she gave our donation request to a bakery in our area. I looked online to see bakeries in Texas, and there aren't any. I am a little confused and feel that I have been lied to. |

We have a company that comes to our office every couple of months with a box of snack products. One of these products is Drakes Pound Cake. This morning I reached into the box and grabbed a pound cake. I opened the SEALED product and took a bite. As I chewed the Pound cake and held it in my left hand I felt something else on my hand. To my horror I saw ants crawling out of the wrapper! I quickly grabbed a zip lock bag and put the cake inside of it. This is disgusting. |

I'm writing with regard to Beefsteak Rye Bread (no seeds), which has been a favorite of ours for a number of years. However, in the past few months, we've noticed a difference in the quality of this product. The density of the bread seems much lighter, the slices thinner and there are more holes running through the loaves - leaving it not nearly as palatable as it once was. I don't know what changes have been made or if it's possible to revert back to the or |
