The district that is being eliminated in Wa. &Or. has been losing big $$$ for a long time geting rid of unprofitable units will save the rest of our jobs.

All of us here in Oregon and other places in Wash. have gone far beyond what was expected of us. That was not good enough for IBC. We were all KICKED in the gut last week and told our last day will be Aug.14. To all the little guys who sit in their big offices and distroy the lives of all us BIG guys (the real workers who put money in their bank accounts) SHAME ON YOU! Not only were we the RSR'S given our walking papers the other dedicated employees who worked so hard for IBC also were let go; many of us have put in 20 hours a week or more in overtime and not been compensated. Why you say; did we not say something about the extra hours. Well we thought we would be risking our jobs by doing so. I guess that doe'snt matter now. As for me, 29 years of putting Hostess Cake and Wonder Bread on the shelves of many stores is now over. I was NOT ready to throw in the towel. One of the problems is some employees lying to management and trying to get other employees in trouble.Another problem is cussing by some employees at other employees.Some other problems are gaps in communication between employer and employees. What im also saying is if a person does a good job why are they still bothered by some managers sometimes.IS it a power trip?????? And why is it so hot in plant 17 sometimes reaching up tp 100 degrees????? Maybe its about time to consider giving more time off if possible to workers.Also plant 17 does not promote their best people perhaps due to the reason that the management only wants people that they think will cover for them. Interstate Brands Corporation has decided that Market Conditions have forced them to make the difficult decision to close the following distribution locations and has entered into an agreement with US Bakery to handle Hostess distribution in the affected areas: Port Angeles, Aberdeen, Omak, Wenatchee, Grand Coulee, Sandpoint, Lewiston, Walla Walla, Hermiston, Kennewick, The Dalles, Redmond (Bend), Klamath Falls, Medford, Roseburg, Coos Bay, Springfield, Newport, and Warrenton. The above-mentioned areas will no longer have Home Pride or Wonder Bread available to the consumers there. I was told IBC bought the Wonder/Hostess brands to have a national brand and to build those brands. They gave up!!! Threw in the towel!! The effective date is August 16, 2004. As you see it is quite a large area, and a big suprise to all of the 150 plus employees involved.

I haven't heard anything about any cuts or having franz deliver our products. Probably just another rumor like the one about the armed gaurds at our entrances. If it's true, it's really hard to believe, we have a really strong brand in most of the areas mentioned. In fact the routes in those areas bring in alot of sales for our company.

Hello Mac in Indy We face the same problems in Columbus ( 50 miles South of you) a order a motor or bearing you might just see it in 3 months. Weld it up tie it up... They put a 3000 PSI water system in here for sanitation to use. Needless to say bearings are locking up. Control panels are shorted and the floor tiles are being washed out. Had a sanitation supv. hook the high pressure to a drain clogged with grease... Blew a hole in the floor the size of your kitchen table. Oh, how did you get lucky enough to get bailing wire??? We 've been out for 2 months.

I was visiting my in-laws in New Jersey over the July 4th weekend, and we went to Monmouth Park Race Track on the fourth. The food vendors were using MERITA Buns and Dogs at all the food stands. How did Merita products make it all the way to N.J.? I thought our northern distribution ended in central Va.

I am real concerned about the great "new" changes in management. Mike P. is still employed so the changes can't be that great. At least Marshall seems to be trying to do the right things. With the loss of the Tops private label to Stroehmann, I kind of think we are sitting back and fiddeling while Buffalo is burning. I reading all of the posts on here, I am so glad that we have union representation with the Teamsters to watch our backs. Button and Chismar have and keep doing positive things for us. In my depot every RSR has 3-7 hrs OT in for 2 days. And thats with help from extra men or supervisor. our we 1 company? Why would you pay all this OT in 1 division and let the Wonder side work 6-7 hrs a day and go home???? How about taking stops off Millbrook and put them on the the trucks that aren't working a full day???? WONDER.... thus eliminating OT and saving IBC money!!! As a employee of this company , I'm going to school . Since I can't work on the floor anymore, I got to go to school to get re trained. I chose Human Resources for my studies. I hope to find out how our HR manager crosses the line so many times that our working class people don't know. Some day I would like to help out the hard working people that the company takes advantage of. This company seem to cross alot lines and pays no conquesces. But if stocks keep tumbling this could be mute. It use to be one of the best companies around, but how things have changed.

To everyone in IBC land, I can tell you that the "new" management teams are nothing more than the same people making the same poor decisions. Two examples: First our esteemed management team had two of our agency managers delivering empty transport racks to accomodate the increased amount of product we were being added for Memorial day weekend. Our transport drivers spent countless hours sitting in Toledo waiting for their loads because production had no racks to put product on. When we raised this point with our "new" manager, and that it would have made more sense for our agency managers to be delivering full racksof PL bread and buns (and avoiding having to handle the product three times) he said that we should not F***ing worry about what he decided. He then made reference to how his "truck drivers" needed to just do their job and stay out of his way. Secondly, our new area sales manager is absolutely convinced that Rite-Aid Pharmacies are a great place for us to sell bread in. He is convinced that by increasing our visibility we will increase our frequency of purchase in our traditional grocery stores. I have tried to tell him that if this were the case, McDonalds, a twenty plus billion dollar company would have never abandoned their Mcexpress concept, shed the entire division they created to run it and eliminated all of the jobs that were a part of it. His only response is " We're different though" I can only wonder how different losing money looks to accountants and shareholders. An additional comment is to the crews loading our transports in Toledo. First, here in Grand Rapids we do not service nor have we ever serviced Martin's stores.so please quit sending it to us as overbake and excess, because our loaders have nowhere to go with it. (We don't have a triftstore to give it to, unless the route people take it for a ride first and drop it off with their returns) Secondly, please figure out some way of telling us what we will not be receiving on our other loads. If we are short staple itmes, and will not get them later, our loaders need to account for the missing product and cut the routes accordingly. There is nothing worse than having to unload bread from trucks, just to load it onto another one. To everyone out there, start e-mailing the members of the board of directors and tell them what you need to satisfy your customers. Encourage your customers to do the same.

You guys that get overtime...How many hours are you supposed to put in on your route before it's considered overtime? I am in a non-union area and we do 11-13 hour days and they still want more. ( Dolly routes) By the way ,the Hostess routes are union as are our thrift stores but we have never even been approached about it. Wonder whats up with that?

the company extended shelve life the thought was to give all employees 2 days in a row off. but then they decided they wanted freshness instead. yet we are still hauling alot of stock sometimes 2 days out. where is the freshness in that another blatent lie. if they really....want to boostr moral and make it a good place to work they would give us 2 days in a row off. until then i believe moral will continue to stink.

With all the check sheets and audits we are doing in the bakery and them checking SAP to make sure we don't run out of ingredients, then do safety audits on all the employees. and then answering emails from everyone that shits above me I mean sits above me. I'm sorry route driver and consumers that I don't have time to worry about quality of products or if it got sent out at all.

Lets all take a step back and reevaluate each marketplace...with no politics!!! RE-read the Company's MISSION STATEMENT...QUALITY and SERVICE.. if we have neither..put a fork in us!! I think the Florence bakery needs to work on getting us all and the right product we order we have a hard time getting the right product and the things we need to keep our custmers happy. It is hard to go after new business because you are scared you will not get your product. I know the 4th of july is a hard time but we missed alot of sales because we could not get what we order. And we think the bakey should pay us for the sales on any cut items due to not baked or shipped.

Ever since all the good old boys got their new jobs and bragging how much more money IBC is paying them plus bonus options. It seems like the The Chief Engineer and Production Managers positions stayed the same with no pay increases but these positions seem to be the ones that are doing the most work now to turn this company around with SAP, SOAR, New Safety programs, New Quality control Audits, and sell to the employees this bullshit to turn the company around. But I guess it only seems that way to me? I'd like to know how the rest of those that work in the plants feel about this?
