Objection! There is nothing bogus about this site. Admittedly, there are posts from some bitter people here but they've been through rough times as of late. It would be nice to see the message board software upgraded to handle multiple topics, and a spell checker would be a nice touch.

Comment: Recent rumors regarding IBC and a numerous list of negative market reports, all serve to clearly indicate this company is, in-fact, imploding upon itself due to numerous mis-calculations and mis-assumptions of employees, employed in top levels of management personnel. The company is reported to be covertly engaged in selective sales of all its real and personal assets including name brands like Wonder Bread and Hostess products to companies like Svenharts and Sara Lee. Albertsons is reported to be pulling out of their 10 year (3-5 years presently remaining) agreement for IBC to produce and deliver Albertson name brand bread to their markets. The date this action will take place is scheduled for January, 2005.

Ok. I am not really an employee but an employee's wife. I can't think of one good thing about this employer other than the medical benefits. We have been through hell with IBC. First, my husband was hired and he quit his other job. He worked for about four months when he was informed that the depo manager didn't have the authority to hire him. He had to ask for his old job back. Then, he gets hired again and the money is ok if you do not consider the hours he has to work. He is at the depo by 3:30 a.m. and he does well if he is home by 5:30 p.m. They keep adding dead stops to his route and adding to his order causing more stales which takes away from his paycheck. And forget about time off, it's hard enough to get the time off but then one of the depo managers runs your route when your out an screws your whole order us causing you to eith have way too much (stales) or not enough. My poor husband stays exhausted and when you average his time by his income. It's just not worth it.

I don't believe we should give up on this company. In fact what we should do now is to fire those who can't produce. The Soar and Sap leaders, the recently promoted financial group . The stock price is low now, go and buy and vote out the board of directors who approve this mess.

Comment: the mailman reports ibc delayed its annual fourth quarter report which ended may 31 2004 for the second time. the independant auditors deloitte and touche stated that the company will not continue at this rate. if ibc continues at this rate you will see chapter 11 bankruptcy to hold the creditors off. meanwhile the stock will fall. once the stock goes below 5.00 dollars for a certain amount of time. the major instutional buyers will pull out of the stock forever. meaning only one thing the game is over.

It was like the filling was not mix right or something, it was not the smooth filling the kids like to lick off the cake. it was like eating grainy sugar with the cream. What happen? I work two jobs as it is and don't have the money to just toss out food like that.

Comment: I have been buying the carmelos since they came out and my son really likes them. I just wanted to let you know the last box I bought had a half size carmelo in the wrapper. The wrapper was the regular size, but the snack cake inside is only half as long as the rest of them are. It looks sort of funny since it's so little. I'm not sure how you make a mini-ho-ho but I don't think it was on purpose, unless you have a game or something going on about finding a mini-ho-ho or something, but I didn't see anything on the box about any contest. I bought the box at the Chief supermarket in Paulding, OH. My son had already eaten some of them, so we didn't bother returning the box for a new one. Just wanted to let you know.

Wonder Bread Baker Stock Drops 25 Percent 1 hour, 24 minutes ago Add Business - Reuters to My Yahoo! NEW YORK (Reuters) - Interstate Bakeries Corp. (NYSE:IBC - news), maker of Wonder bread and Hostess Twinkies, on Monday said it hired a turnaround firm, delayed filing its annual report and outlined possible credit concerns, sending its shares tumbling more than 25 percent. Related Quotes IBC DJIA NASDAQ S&P 500 5.33 10185.87 1845.48 1104.31 -2.57 -9.14 -16.61 -3.46 delayed 20 mins - disclaimer Quote Data provided by Reuters The company cited several issues in a news release, including the "possibility" that its auditors could raise questions about its ability to continue as a going concern. Kansas City, Missouri-based Interstate Bakeries said it has retained Alvarez & Marsal, a firm that works on crisis management and other issues, for assistance. The company said it is also in talks with representatives of the agent bank under its senior secured credit facility and plans to discuss these issues and potential responses with representatives of the purchasers of its recently issued senior subordinated convertible notes. The company's annual report was due with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (news - web sites) last Friday. Interstate Bakeries said the delay in filing the report was due to data entry and training deficiencies in its new financial reporting systems, which were installed on June 1; uncertainty regarding anticipated fiscal 2005 first-quarter results; uncertainty over whether it may not be in compliance with covenants in its senior secured credit facility agreement during fiscal 2005; and other factors. If the auditor's report accompanying the company's audited financial statements contains a "going concern" paragraph, or if Interstate Bakeries fails to file its fiscal 2004 report by Sept. 26, the company said it may not be able to borrow under its senior secured credit facility and could accelerate outstanding indebtedness under that facility and, subject to certain conditions, senior subordinated convertible notes as well. The company said there is no assurance that it would be able to obtain alternative financing if those circumstances occurred. Interstate Bakeries said that if it does not have appropriate agreements with its lenders to avoid such circumstances, it would need to consider alternative courses of action. Interstate Bakeries had previously obtained an extension to last Friday to file its report due to delays in finalizing its audited statements for 2004 stemming from a previously announced investigation of its manner for setting its workers' compensation reserves and other reserves. Interstate Bakeries shares were down $2.09, or 26.5 percent, at $5.81, the lowest level in more than a decade, on Monday morning on the New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites). The stock was the biggest loser in percentage terms on the NYSE.

Interstate Bakeries Corporation (ticker: IBC, exchange: New York Stock Exchange) News Release - 30-Aug-2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interstate Bakeries Corporation Defers Filing 2004 10K KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2004--Interstate Bakeries Corporation (NYSE:IBC), today said that due to the convergence of a number of recently identified interrelated circumstances, it had not on Friday, August 27, 2004, filed its Form 10-K for its fiscal year ended May 29, 2004 with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Company said it is seeking to resolve these matters promptly and will defer filing its fiscal 2004 Form 10-K until it has done so. Filing will occur when the officers who must make the certification required by the Sarbanes Oxley Act in connection with such filing are in a position to do so. IBC had previously obtained an extension to last Friday for a timely filing of its Fiscal 2004 Form 10-K because of delays encountered in finalizing its audited financial statements for its 2004 fiscal year arising from its previously announced investigation of the Company's manner for setting its workers' compensation reserves and other reserves. The Company said that the delay in filing its Form 10-K, which was due last Friday, arose out of: initial data entry and training deficiencies in the Company's newly implemented financial reporting systems, installed June 1, 2004; uncertainty regarding anticipated Fiscal 2005 first quarter results, in part due to delayed information availability resulting from such deficiencies which has made it difficult to analyze the impact of negative sales trends during the first quarter of Fiscal 2005; resulting uncertainty as to whether the Company may not be in compliance with covenants in its senior secured credit facility agreement during Fiscal 2005; and the possibility, therefore, that the report of its independent auditors with respect to the Company's Fiscal 2004 financial statements might contain a paragraph to the effect that there may be substantial doubt about the Company's ability to continue as a going concern. The Company has begun to receive the delayed information and to use it to better develop and analyze fiscal 2005 first quarter results. While the effort is still ongoing, the Company considers its direction to be positive relative to the uncertainties and possibilities noted above, although no conclusions can yet be reached. As part of its effort to aggressively deal with these matters and pursue an effective going forward business strategy, IBC has retained the firm of Alvarez & Marsal to assist the Company. The Company also is engaged in discussions with representatives of the agent bank under its senior secured credit facility and intends to also discuss these issues and potential responses with representatives of the purchasers of the Company's recently issued senior subordinated convertible notes. The Company noted that although it is working diligently to resolve the foregoing issues, if certain circumstances were to develop, including if the auditor's report accompanying the Company's audited financial statements contains a going concern paragraph, or if it does not file its Fiscal 2004 Form 10-K by September 26, 2004, under the terms of the Company's senior secured credit facility this could result in IBC's inability to borrow under its senior secured credit facility and acceleration of outstanding indebtedness under the senior secured credit facility and, subject to certain conditions, the senior subordinated convertible notes as well. In the event of any such acceleration, there is no assurance that IBC would be able to obtain alternative financing. In the absence of appropriate agreements with its lenders to avoid such circumstances, the Company would need to consider alternative courses of action which are typically considered by companies in similar circumstances. Interstate Bakeries Corporation is the nation's largest wholesale baker and distributor of fresh baked bread and sweet goods, under various national brand names, including Wonder, Hostess, Dolly Madison, Baker's Inn, Merita and Drake's. The Company, with 55 bread and cake bakeries located in strategic markets from coast-to-coast, is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo. Forward-Looking Statements Some information contained in this press release may be forward-looking statements within the meaning of the federal securities laws. These forward-looking statements are not historical in nature and include statements relating to, among other things: the timely filing of our Fiscal 2004 10-K, factors affecting the Company's recent performance, the Company's outstanding indebtedness and the Company's Fiscal 2004 audit report. These forward-looking statements are subject to numerous risks and uncertainties, many of which are beyond our control, which could cause actual results to differ materially fr

Hey Keith, Other companies DO pay overtime. I am in Texas which is a right to work state just like where you are. Frito Lay and Bluebell both receive overtime. Also, for whoever said a while back "there is no wonder bread in Texas" you are wrong. We haul lots of it on the Dolly routes. We have one grocery account that we sell it to for .74 a loaf regular price. This is our managments way of getting sales up in a crappy account. The company is making very little on that but it makes their numbers look better. We will go in any account that calls and wants service,no matter how low the sales are. We put in a lot of hours so don't talk to me about whining. Some of us have 14 or 15 grocery stores a day along with c stores, vendors and schools. It's getting ridiculous.

Keith, you are an idiot. We do not sell anything here. We order what we are told to order. We do not have any control over what we order. When that order comes in, with the added product (pluses) that the company wants us to deliver we drive it drive it to where we can make it fit and we put it on the shelf. That is not sales, that is delivery. I do not spend my work day selling anything, I don't have time. I do spend my day trying to find a place to put all the extra units the company and my DM plussed my order. I am not responsible for getting new accounts, that's what an account executive does. I am responsible for getting the product to the store and on the shelf and maintaining that shelf with fresh product and keeping that shelf clean. What part of this don't you get?

I was very disappointed in how thin the slices were and how it came a part when I made a sandwich. I have tried it in the past and it has been awhile but this loaf was terrible. It had a good date also. I think the formula is not the same as it used to be. I made toast also and it fell apart. I love rye bread and was very disappointed. I thought you should know.

IBC ,Continental Baking, Ral.Purina,ITT. I have gone through all the transitions, and now am ready to retire after 35 years. The company has been good to me,the wages helpes my children earning their college degree, a nice house, raise a beautiful family. I have no complaint about the company even though I have gone through quite a few bad time. Leadership is most important for the company to be sucessful . We have a few good and bad one. I am sure we at Pomona know who they are. All I want to say is their time will come, may be sooner than anticipated.

I worked in sales for 40 years, putting in around 20 hours of non-paid overtime a week. At $ 15.00 an hour that comes to $600.000.00. Have now been retired for 15 years and enjoying every moment of it. Continental was a fun place to work and I figure the overtime was a donation that kept them in business. It sounds like Interstate is not that kind of Company.Give em hell guys!

It is almost impossible to hold the relish and hotdog in the bun. The bun just seperates and you hold two halves of a bun in your hand. Why did you stop slicing the rolls along the top? This was by far the best way to slice them. Everyone slices their rolls along the side as you do so we buy french rolls instead. Thanks for letting me express my gripe.

as a employee for quit a few years I have seen the changes from one company that was profitable and family oriented to a company that is more worried about lawsuits from minorities. We all as employees do not want anyone treated unfairly no matter what race religion or sex they may be. This company was built on a family base of people. everyone was related in one way or another to someone else that worked here. now we are worried about people having a high school diploma or ged . The quality of workers has decreased consibarilly in the past few years because it used to be people worked here to better theirselfs and the company and worried about the big picture of this location making money to stay in buissness. now we only worry about next weeks paycheck or how much overtime we can get with minimal work involved. A lot of this is to blame on upper management which does not know how to manage the people or properly make sure they are trained the way they need to be. Lets all work together to get this place back up to the #1 bakery and have a long prosporis job

Comment: I am a retailer that sells oven fresh bread in my convienance store. I have been told by your district manager that we will no longer be able to get oven fresh bread in our store, however they will continue to deliver to the save a lot and wal mart stores. This is discrimination to us that have small stores not to mention that the bread sales in our store is 90% oven fresh so that will also create a hard ship for us. I plan to contact a lawyer and all of the stores in my area and see if we can either continue to get oven fresh or stop the delivery of the oven fresh to the larger stores. You will hear from me again!

I have been a route salesman for 19 years and like my job. We are going through tough times right now(and have before) but will bounce back. I agree that some management have to wake up. All we here is "WE have to get returns under 5%. We here nothing about increasing sales lately. I personally believe 5% is unrealistic without losing sales. A 8% is a more realistic goal. We were told at a recent meeting it costs .82 to make a loaf of white bread, but our thrift store sells fresh Wonder Big for .55. And yes our Quality is really down in some varieties. I can only hope we get our shit together before its to late.

dear ibc corperate liers. ibc buffalo closed because weston out bid ibc for the private label business. ahold out of the netherlands is having a fire sale to get cash and sell any and everything they hold in the u.s. anyone that shops at tops markets or any ahold owned enterprize is just adding to the demise of the american labor force. it will put more than 250 americans out of work and the beat goes on. jamica and my bread are on the charts for a closing soon. ibc is the worst run company with a bunch of upper management money hungry idiots just beating this company to death. every major account in the northeast is down and some as high as 30% over last year. how can a upper management structure allow management to cook the books, lose a major account worth millions, close a bakery with sales that were up and keep the same idiot in charge. i do believe the s.e.c. is closing in on the people that need to be investaged and put in pin stripes.

I have worked for the company for many years now in one of the thrift stores. It has been interesting to watch the so called changes to bring this company back to being profitable. Funny one would think you can do this by consistent threats to it's employees, that they will either be written up or their store will close if things don't change. Never have they been written up in all the years they have worked there befor new management came into the picture. The company has provided no training or meetings for their managers on what they expect, just fax changes that they want that are not understood. No I am not one of the managers, but I can say what I have seen since June. We have recieved shut off notices for unpaid bills. Over shipped product is sitting in the bay that no one ordered and there is no where for it to go, so it sits there until it goes out as hog feed. Sales in at least 3 stores continue to drop, for the one I am in, for the first time in many years to consistently drop. Not hard to figure out why. Where most companies are finding ways to cut back on wasted time with paper work, ours keeps picking up. Instead of spending time on our customers and our store, we are doing more and more increased paperwork. Our managers are stressed with continuous inventories and faxes of things to do, not to speak of the stress as to how long they will have their jobs. Our customers, some living day to day financially are no longer coming in for the grab bags and reduced priced cakes they use to enjoy. Many have told me they can no longer afford these treats at the higher prices. Employees are now spending increased time writting down all these hundreds of cakes a week now being sold as hog feed. We were also informed it is up to us to sweep, mop and clean the stores, but do not go over your scheduled hours. And of course make sure the store is grand opening ready befor you leave. At our store most of the schedule is one employee with the exception of a few hours a day, and I can't get what the company wants. All I have figured out is we are supose to clock out and continue working to accomplish what is expected of us without getting paid. I guess that is what is meant by figure out a way to get it done. I am not saying there was not room for improvement in management and in the stores. It just doesn't seem what is being done is working and I don't think you accomplish things with threats. Are there any other thrift stores out there that read this that can relate or maybe help us understand what is going on?

Hey Mark Cooper, you got to learn not to screw people thats loyal. You will have a lot less sick time, hurt time ,law suites ect. If your employees think they are a part of the company and they dont have to watch there back evry few seconds . You want a productive work force ,then you must realize being a dick is not the answer to everthing. Being a leader is the answer. Learn to be a leader.

Belinda, Our bread is generally stamped with a 10 day code, which means from the time it is delivered to the store there are 7 days given to be sold in the store, on the seventh day it is picked up and taken to a thrift store where it is sold at a reduced price for the remaining three days. If there is not proper rotation or a real slow selling store you will see two loaves of bread with different sell dates on them. In many stores a "variety" item will only have a few units delivered as that is all that sells at that location, that may be the reason you saw that. Or the second loaf could have been a reshop (meaning someone found it in another location in the store and took it back to the bread shelf) just check the date when you buy, just like you do milk, eggs etc... No evil conspiracy at work here, just normal situations in any grocery store.

Comment: I purchased a loaf of Beefsteak Rye bread from Safeway on August 23,2004. Arriving home I proceeded to discard the remaining portion of a loaf of the Beefsteak Rye bread I had purchased from Safeway on August 17, 2004. Looking at the wrapper for the expiration date I made the following discoveries: the loaf purchased on 8/17/04 has the date AUG27 and the numbers 065 21:23 in one row followed by #1-227-08/23. The loaff purchased on 8/23 has the date AUG24 and the numbers 065- in the first row followed by #2-225-08/20. (This loaf will be returned to the store as stale). However, I would like to know how the first loaf got such advanced dating. Considering I purchased it on the 17th. and the date on the wrapper is AUG27 that gives a 10 day freshness period. How did the advanced wrappers end up on a loaf of bread before it was supposedly baked? Do these dates on wrappers have no value as to freshness level? Is that legal? An answer would be appreciated.

Comment: I purchased a Lemon Hostess Fruit Pie at a BP station in Diamondhead, Mississippi today (8/24/04) and it was by far the worst tasting fruit pie I have ever had. The last sale date was 8/30 (53G219) and had a proof of purchase of 450290, I would have hated to see what your product would have tasted like if it were sold on this date! The pie crust was stale and the inside lemon flavor was horrible. The wrapper states We Deliver Great Taste, this is far from the truth, I believe that you need to go back to the drawing board on this product. I hope that this e-mail helps you to improve your product (it needs a lot of improving).

Comment: Purchased Hostess Golden Cup Cakes on August 23rd at a local supermarket in Phoenix. The package was stamped last sale date: Aug 24. Upon opening the box at home, the cupcakes were found to be stale with the icing crumbly. Some individually wrapped cakes were not sealed, some had portions of the cake cut off, and two had dried cakes that were split horizontally half way up the cupcake. I would like to write to Interstate Brands Companies as the back of their package offers a "Quality Guarantee". But they offer no address for returns, complaints or comments. I will take the package back to the store, but IBC will not know that they have one more dissatisfied customer out here heading for Entenmann's where freshness and quality seem to matter.

How do I get a copy of the "Bi-laws" or "Meet & Confer". Things are happening that just don't seem legal to me. I have worked with the Hostess/Wonder for 23yrs. with an impecable record and with the "restructuring" the rules are changing literally daily! I need some guidance

An honest days work? How's this for those of you sitting on the sidelines commenting on this? Wake up at 2:00am clock in at 3:00am load truck until 4:00 or 5:00 am with 800 to 1500 loaves of bread...(that's 1200 to 3000 pounds of bread no matter how you slice it) serve stores for 6 to 9 hours taking one meal break in the truck as you drive between stops if you happen to have a restaurant on your route, otherwise you may not have time to stop. return to the depot, having worked 9 -12 hours already (with a 15 minute lunch on the go), unload the truck, do your paperwork and go home. Do this with Wednesdays and Sundays off for a month and then talk to me about an honest days work. And remember to get in bed by 6:00 pm so you can get 8 hours sleep! We get paid pretty well for what we do. But we're certainly on the extreme end of the scale on the amount of work we do in a week's time.

Hey Anonymous: All I am saying is that the lawsuit put me out of work. Even our great company couldn't afford it! If the California people want to work shorter hours then negotiate it in the contract with the idiot union that killed us. The lawsuit is a mistake and California workers will suffer wait and see...

Hey Lakewood, what about doing the right thing? If the company is in violation of the law shouldn't they pay for that? As long as they don't get caught it's ok right? Grow a back bone, this company has been on the downside for a lot longer than this law suit has been around. Obviously they aren't stepping up to the plate to support their employees.

Comment: I recently went to the Hostess Thrift Store at Stone and Ft. Lowell Road in Tucson, AZ. I've never shopped at a store like this one, but went with my Daughter-in-Law, as she suggested it. All I can say is that the woman working there was pleasant, knowledgeable about the products, pointed out specials and was GREAT! After reading all the complaints, I have this to offer.. Life is a journey and it is that journey that leads to our destination, regardless if you believe that could be heaven or a cold spot in the ground.. so, make your life's journey one of quality and stop pointing fingers everywhere but at your own choices and decisions. If your working conditions are so profounding horrible or unpleasant that you have to come to an internet board.. then QUIT and find another job! If you find that there is something else that bothers you.. why do you complain and not alter your life? It is YOUR choice and decision.. YOUR accountability and responsibility to make your own life what you want.. NOT a corporation or another person. Advocate for YOURSELF.. and not against something else. You are the pilot of your life and the navigator for your own destiny.. Enjoy what there is to enjoy and take another path in life when it is too difficult to stay on the one you picked.. Cognitive word here is YOU... yep! YOU.. Mealy mouthed unhappy complainers deserve a bad shake.. that's all they give.. bad shakes! "eeewwww" Now.. look at yourself.. make the choices and LIVE YOUR LIFE with EARNED happiness! Susan, a 52 year old woman who's seen life from more vantage points than she ever thought was possible! All I had to do was to see..

One member of IBC management once braggedf giving a loaf of bread to a new routeman he was training as "lunch". This after the man had the "nerve" to ask when lunch was late in the day. All of the vacation drivers and most of the regulars are afraid to take a lunch. Heck, they're also afraid to sign the class action suit. We're scorned and punished for taking an honest day of sick leave. The management must think that since they don't get overtime pay, we shouldn't either. Personally, I think you're crazy not to sign the lawsuit!

Interstate Bakeries Corporation (ticker: IBC, exchange: New York Stock Exchange) News Release - 23-Aug-2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interstate Bakeries Announces Closing of Buffalo, New York KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2004--Interstate Bakeries Corporation (NYSE:IBC) today announced plans to close its bakery in Buffalo, NY. The closing, scheduled for October 23, 2004, will affect approximately 200 employees. The Buffalo facility primarily makes bread and rolls, sold under various brand names, including Wonder, Home Pride and Beefsteak, as well as donuts sold under the Hostess brand name. This production will be transferred to other IBC bakeries, including facilities in Akron, OH, Biddeford, ME, Jamaica, NY, and Philadelphia, PA. The bakery closing will not affect distribution of IBC products to food stores in upstate New York and other markets. "The decision to close the Buffalo bakery was made after considerable evaluation and deliberation," said James R. Elsesser, IBC's Chief Executive Officer. "However, we are consolidating operations company-wide and seeking production efficiencies. The Buffalo bakery, which was built in 1923, is not as efficient as some of our other facilities. As a result, we concluded that economically it was best for the Company to close the facility." Mr. Elsesser added, "Our employees in Buffalo have been a hard working group. We appreciate their efforts and regret that they and their families are being impacted by this decision." Most of the employees affected by this decision are represented by three unions: local #802 of the Bakers, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union; local #447 of the International Association of Machinists; and local #264 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Severance arrangements for those employees affected by the closing will be determined during affects bargaining and will be guided by IBC's agreements with the applicable unions. Last month the company also announced the closing of a bread bakery in Monroe, LA for similar reasons, affecting approximately 50 employees. Monroe is scheduled to close September 17, 2004. Production will be shifted primarily to IBC's facility in Alexandria, LA. The company estimates that it will take approximately $7,700,000 to $9,600,000 in restructuring charges related to the two closings, a portion of which will be taken in the first quarter of fiscal 2005. Approximately 60% of such charges will result in future cash expenditures. Interstate Bakeries Corporation is the nation's largest baker and distributor of fresh baked bread and sweet goods, under various national brand names including Wonder, Hostess, and Home Pride. The Company, with 55 bread and cake bakeries located in strategic markets from coast-to- coast, is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. For information, please contact: Mark D. Dirkes Senior Vice President-Corporate Marketing Interstate Bakeries Corporation 12 E. Armour Boulevard Kansas City, Missouri 64111 816-502-4203.

I was on vacation when all this union vote was taken so I did not get to vote or voice my opinion on this so called extension. First of all,we are only distributing the Svenhardts label,IBC did not purchase it.That being fact, how or why did the union push the dovetail? Since IBC doesn't own the label, what happens when Svenhardt's or IBC decide that we will no longer carry Svenhardt's? Do the IBC routesalesmen get their route's back? When the Co. asked for an extension, what was offered by the Co. and what was asked by the union? Does anybody know? How could the union recommened us accepting this extension? The $750 instead of 1/2% commision is about as dumb an offer as i've ever heard, yet we voted for it. What kind of union is this? Oh the union is also tapping into our pension. What a joke.

Comment: The purpose of me visiting this site is to provide information on my recent purchase of Drake's Apple Fruit Pies that have a sell by date of Sept. 03. This was a sale product and I did not look at the date when purchasing. I purchased this product from the Livingston, NJ Pathmark store. When my husband and I were eating the product later that evening we immediately recognized that it was spoiled. This is a very poor indicator of the food safety risk management procedures in place at this Pathmark facility. I assume that your company conducts store audits and may check that stores have procedures that are adequately followed to ensure that products with old shelf dates are removed. The mere presence of a product that should have been sold by Sept. 03 within their existing inventory is beyond acceptable QC related controls. You might want to address this issue within whatever QC/QA procedure that you have in place to audit this vendor. I reported this information to the Pathmark website already. The following is the information printed on the packaging immediately after the Sell By Date of 9/03. 56229 with the number 02:28 below it. The numbers on the inside flap of the carton include the following: top line is 6052070406 the next line is Des 2012DPM the next line is RT#80111 the next line is FO#17475 the next line is CTP. The existing Drakes products on the shelves of this store should be reviewed to ensure that others do not have our experience. We will return the product to store next week for reiumbursement. Then about two or so months ago, I was shocked . It was sooo soft. It was delicious (I always have to toast it because its always so hard). Now I could eat it without toasting. All four breads (white, ww, rye and Itialian) were great. Now the for last couple of weeks the bread is hard again. I know with not a lot of fat in the bread its not as soft as regular bread. But why was it soft for a couple of weeks and now its hard again. Actually, today I bought Arnold light. I like the Wonder better but the ARnold is softer. so I guess its a toss up. But would really like for the wonder to be soft again.

Comment: Yesterday I purchased a box of Twinkies to bring to work. My supervisor noticed two different types of wrappers in the box. Upon closer inspection he discovered three Twinkies have an expiration date of SEP 02. They are in "Twinkie The Kid" wrappers, and they are bar coded for retail sale. A fourth Twinkie has a SEP 04 expiration date, but it is also bar coded and in a "Twinkie The Kid" wrapper. I'm upset that your company is redistributing expired products, and I'd like a refund. Several of my coworkers, however, are Twinkie freaks and they've suggested asking for free products. What can you do to rectify this embarrassing situation?

Robo, By punitive action I mean having your route scoured daily for anything off schematic, a re shop that is one day off code or anything imperfect and then coming in to a reprimand X 3 or 4 (forget which) this leads to termination, I have never had it happen to me, but have seen it happen to others over the years. Devils Food Twinkie Lover, I also love the devils food twinkies, however this is a seasonal item only, it only comes out about once a year and for only a few weeks across the country. I think the things are great however the scheduling of this and other seasonal items is far enough up the chain of command that the person who decides to send them out for distribution likely hasn't seen the inside of a route truck for 20+ years. Sorry, keep looking for them, you might happen on them sometime and when you do buy a bunch and freeze them.

Comment: I purchased some Hostess Mini Muffins recently and when I opened the box I was surprised and upset to find that the box smells very strongly of burnt rubber! It smells like a vaccuum cleaner that has had something caught in it and is starting to burn. The smell is not very evident from the outside of the box but if you put your nose into the box-it is very strong. When I opened the (brand new, unopened) box I was standing next to my husband and I was like, "What is that terrible burning smell?" It took us a few minutes to realize the smell was inside the box! I am concerned about this. Why would the box smell like this inside? Could it be dangerous to my family that that smell is in there? (Could it be harmful to our health to be eating these products?) Is it because of the materials the box is made from? I would like a replacement box but not if there is going to be a similar problem with it.

Comment: To Whom it May Concern, I only discovered that there was such a thing as Devil's Food Twinkies 2 years ago. I stumbled upon them in a local convenience store. I was then able to buy them for a while in a Grand Union supermarket where I live in New Jersey. However, the supermarket went out of business and I have not been able to find DEVIL'S FOOD TWINKIES anywhere, in over a year. I check every supermarket I go in, but everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that there really are chocolate twinkies. Can you please tell me where I can locate this product? My zip code is 07039 (Livingston, NJ). When I DO tell people about these twinkees they all say its a great idea and they would try them if they saw them. Why don't you advertise this product because I think there would be a big market for it. There are similar products out there (such as Hostess Cupcakes) but not everyone likes the heavey chocolate icing. Besides, the texture of a hostess twinkie is unique. Any assistance you could provide to help me locate a source where I can purchase this product would be greatly appreciated.

Comment: I bought my first box of Suzy Q's the other day and feel cheated and disappointed that your company has engaged in false advertising. The picture of the cakes that appears on the box is grossly misleading since it shows an inner white layer equal in thickness to each of the chocolate layers when in fact the thickness is only about half. It was the picture that led me to purchase the item and I fully expected the actual cakes to contain more of the tempting white layer. I enjoyed eating the Suzy Q's, however, I would have enjoyed them more if the white filling had been thicker as advertised.

Southern Cal, and Nevada, Hostess distributes their product. They have a very high quality product.

Robbie, I do not know what kind of job you have with the company or what kind of union contract (if any) you operate under. If you work under a union contract call you local union hall for information, barring that ask a coworker in your department. If you are a non union employee your best bet is to ask a supervisor or contact Human Resources.

Robo: People post here as this gives them a way to voice their frustrations or concerns with complete anonymity and without punitive action being taken by management. I never met anyone named Robo and I doubt that is your name, thus you perpetrate the very act you scorn others for. Unless you are in senior management hipocracy is not part of your job description. Or to put it more bluntly: It is the internet, stop being a dolt.

So I guess my earlier question about you not making it anymore is no, but why can't I find it here? I really loved that bread there's nothing else that can take it's place.

Just check some of the other bakeries' stock, the difference is MANAGEMENT. You are absolutely correct. I came up with the same as you...Red Duke.

Well well well..... Been a bit since I have checked this site, I see it is pretty much the same. To the DSM, taking the attitude that "YEAH? We screw the pooch in upper management all the time, just deal with it!" Comes off as condescending, and oddly enough immature at the same time (Hmm oxymoronic). People who post on this site by and large have a vested interest in the wellbeing of the company, as many have the majority of their working life invested in it. They may not hold STOCK in the company (can't blame them there now can we?) but if an individual has 15 or 20 years time invested with IBC and takes the time to voice concerns it shows they really care. The current financial shambles is the result of upper mismanagement acting like a monkey with a football with the fiduciary aspects of this business, coupled with the PROJECT DIVE results we have seen in the last six months. The "restructure" has seen no changes in upper management other than moving them around and drawing new job titles out of a hat to give the appearance of "progress". A similar (though extreme) analogy would be the Catholic Church's approach to the pedophile preist catastrophe, they moved them around as opposed to dropping them. There will not be a change in our company's horrible image or financial status until the house is cleaned. Just check some of the other bakeries' stock, the difference is MANAGEMENT. With the job title you have given you are not in a position to fix this, you simply do what you're told and try to play the "company line" the power structure in this company makes you accountable by your superiors for the same superior's mistakes, you are also in the wonderful position of catching crap from youir subordinates for your superior's screw ups, I do not envy you your position. The major stock holders have got to get together and select a new senior management team, else our company will be dragging the bottom for some time to come.

Comment: hey Mr. br.mgr/div sales mgr Your latest post shows an important example of why IBC is the way IBC is. Your condescending attitude towards anyone that doesn?t agree with you or understand what point your trying to get across is the standard at IBC. Your assumption that this employee doesn?t have a nickel invested in IBC is absurd. To read your latest post one would think that these Route Drivers only have a job, not a career. Yet the reality is that it is their company, and it is in their best interest to do what is necessary to keep the company healthy. Unfortunately IBC has chosen folks much like yourself to be in charge of this chicken coop and you guys are a bunch of wolves. I had to chuckle to myself when I read this, ?i bet your one of those salesmen who are constantly being followed because of low work standards? right?? take pride in your work first, and if things arnt going well consider your options, atleast then you can go knowing you did every thing well.? My advise to you would be to Take pride in your work and maybe a class on how to get your message across using the English language. Your post lacked intelligence, it lacked a well thought out message, and it certainly lacked basic punctuation that one would expect from someone holding a managerial position with a large company. Your post was an attack. Shame on you Mr. Manager. Shame on you. I expect better grammar and punctuation from someone at a mangerial level. But hey, that's just me.

to my friend who refered to me as boo hoo.aparently you cant read. take a minute and have someone read my post to you, then have them EXPLAIN what all the big words mean. if you read it properly you would have seen it agrees this company has major problems.but people like you complain so much you dont know when to stop and when to do something about it.now.. you said get off my butt and get some business, when did it stop being everyones job to build business?sounds like your part of the problem like upper mgmt, sitting on your hands waiting for someone to carry you along.well my record stands 10-12% growth and 6% returns.HOWS YOURS??? dare to be honest?yes i have the option to quit so dont you.its not about how much the company screws us its about if you want to work here, they are not going to change. its not YOUR company, its theirs.you dont have a nickel invested in it, and dont say well i have been here so many years.. dont matter you got a check every week for them, they owe you nothing. i bet your one of those salesmen who are constantly being followed because of low work standards? right?? take pride in your work first, and if things arnt going well consider your options, atleast then you can go knowing you did every thing well.

It doesn't matter who management is, just do your job and quit callig in sick with every ache and pain. The bread business hs changed over the years. There is not much loyalty anymore for the people who pay our bills by providing us with employment that gives us a good lifestyle....

So, I went one more time and bought wonder light this time I got Italian got home and put in it in the frig. It had an expiration date of August 15th you can see by the date of this email it is only August 14th. This morning I had toast and thought hmmm this taste funny well I ate one piece and started on the second and thought man this really doesnt taste right and looked at the crust and it was molded!! Consequently I threw up and threw up! I normally dont worry about mold when the bread has not expired yet. Mold is neither tastey or healthy. I dont know what is wrong with your bread but this time I think I will discuss my problems directly with my attorney and hope that eating the whole one piece doesnt cause me to have any further medical problems.

Comment: I consider myself a connoisseur of ginger snaps. Recently we bought a package of Hostess Ginger Snap cookies and they have a certain chemical taste, unlike anything or any brand of ginger snap we've ever had before. We normally buy Hostess products and until now, have always been satisfied with our choices. These ginger snaps either have too much of something included or a formula that needs to be changed. Sorry, but they are not at all like what we expected. The package shows a sell date of Dec.10, 04.Thanks for your time.

We were told 160 laid off. Do not know the breakdown. I am sure that production staff will be given walking papers soon if they are not included in the 160. All transport drivers out of Portland were laid off, and as far as I know the route sales people were all combo routes.

I have been here for years and have noticed and heard of one guy sneaking stuff in his lunch box on an almost daily basis. If one employee can do it who is the gatekeeper, imagine others and in all of the plants... Biddeford has a problem-check it out and you will see.

Comment: I just purchased a family sized bag of Dolly Madison Powdered Donut Gems, as I usually do, from Wal-Mart in Mississippi. The donuts were not powdery and airy, yet had a moist gummy texture and the powdered sugar was gummy. The expiration date is August 20. I was very disappointed and did not want to make another trip back to the store just for this one small item. I examined the bag and the wire-tie did not seem to have been tampered with, so what could have cause these to be and gummy with moisture. Thank you.

Comment: Eventually All thrift stores will be closed because of the new EXTENDED SHELF LIFE PROGRAM. There will be no need for them . Bread has a seven day to 3 week code and cake depending what it is, has anywhere from a 14 days to 2 month shelf life. So why have thrit stores that sell product at a discount price, when you can sell thrift store product out in the markets at full price. So think about it . Guess why are we getting so many complaints about stale and moldy product. Yes your right EXTENDED SHELF LIFE is the problem.

Comment: To Whom It May Concern, How very disappointed I am to find the store located at 1820 Main St. in Springfield, OR. will be closed as of this Saturday, August 14, 2004. It has been a fixture in Springfield for over 30 years. It is also disheartening to find that several other stores in Oregon will be closed, placing approximately 170 people out of work. I have shopped for Hostess products and other products offered at this outlet for over twenty years. My mother no longer drives because of her stroke, so I would also shop for her. She is also very sad regarding the closure. I hope I will be able to find the Ding Dongs, and other sweets she would have me purchase for her on a sometimes weekly basis. The closing will not only affect me, but more importantly a lot of the elderly patrons who live within walking distance to your store. I have always enjoyed your products, friendly people and great discounts offered on a weekly basis. It is very sad to see a landmark business such as yours closing after so many years. The clerks have informed me that the Albany store will remain open, which is more then 45 miles from where I live, so that is not a convenient option. I truly wish the company would reconsider the closure. The clerks also noted the company has leased the property until 2007. So why close now. Oh! I know the company said ?It?s not cost effective to truck the merchandise to that location.? Which I find hard to believe. The store seems quite busy every time I?ve been shopping. Well I know I?m only one customer, but believe me I speak for several others who do not have access to internet. Thank you for reading this message

Comment: the mailman reports ibc posted the fourth quarter results. its net loss grew to 12.5 million from 4.57 million. net sales fell 1.8 percent to 803 million. ibc posted a yearly loss of 25.8 million from a profit of 27.5 million a year ago and net sales fell 1.7 percent to 3.47 billion. in the future look for ibc to close more plants. consolidate more routes and close more thrift stores and also look at ibc to pull out of major markets that are losing money. that was one reason why the have brought ronald hutchinson into the picture. to help get ibc back on its feet.

Yahoo finance message boards. Many shareholders speak of bankruptcy and the stock is almost down to $9.00. When will the good old boys be replaced and get back to basics? Closing plants and getting rid of employees is not the answer. New leadership and fresh ideas and working together as a team is the only way to win. Wake up shareholders and break up the good old boys before we are all out of our jobs and your investments become worthless.

It is hard plastic and very sharp! Its origin is for you to determine. This could have been a dangerous situation had one of my children decided to make their own sandwich. The packaging has the sell by date of Aug. 16 and codes of 55217 0812 J0155. I am sure you will investigate and I have kept the shard for you to inspect if needed. I was not sure who to contact, since there is no information on the package, so I am emailing to this site.

I am very upst with this product and I felt that you should know what happened to me and this loaf of bread. I do not plan on buying another loaf of Wonder bread again.

Hector was the one who rushed it thru telling us how good it was for us. Why did all the guys up in 186 vote no? I would say I.B.C bought them a unioun rep. We didnt even have to vote we had 2 years. Who actually counted your votes? was it the union and a shop stewart? or just the Union? mmmmmmm

I was told that there was a tire gage on the air pump. I left the store and your employee came to see if I needed help. He put the air in my tire and check to make sure I had the correct pounds. Its just little thing that makes people happy. Thank you for hiring employee that go beond there job. I will always remember his kindness in my time of need.

Comment: I purchased a box of Hostess Powdered Donettes, a family favorite. I was enjoying several donuts the other day and came across one that was in a crescent shape. I didn't pay much attention to it assuming it was just a broken piece. I picked it up to eat it and decided to break it in half. To my surprise it was very hard and there was a small dark object inside. It may have been a piece of a nut I am not really sure. I was very glad I had not bitten directly into the donut piece and even glader that my husband did not since he is highly allergic to nuts.

Somehow, someway, for some unknown reason, Drakes does not make them anymore. Other brands like Lil Debbies are a mockery of this once desired product. I have driven to Virginia and Conneticut in the hopes of finding these delectable treats and have had no luck. PLEASE tell me that Drakes is going to start making them and distributing them in New Jersey VERY SOON! thanks!!!!!!!!! A SWISS ROLL LOVER!

While everyone is concentrating on all the changes that that are happening ,the teamsters are in your wallet.Just this past year IBC contributed $2.90 per hour towards your pension as the contract we voted on states. But the teamsters only gave you credit for $1.65.This was due to bad investments(they say). Also those of you who have Kaiser will have to make a $50 co-pay when you visit the emergency dept. instead of the $10 you were paying. There have also been changes to the dental plan.I thought we had a contract thru June 2006.Regarding the difference in what the union is giving you credit for,the example is as follows;if you are a15-20 year union member between June 2003 and June2004 you lost about $134 a month on your pension when you retire, never to be recovered and if this continues another year it will be a loss of over $200.So instead of worryng what route you will be running or who your boss will be, think about what the teamsters are doing to your future. Go to http:// nopensioncuts.org the information you will there will blow your mind, everyone should get involved.

How do route salesmen or saleswomen think they are the most important people tomake this company a sucess? You can not sucessful unless you have team work. From production and down, where product comes from and from businesses that order. Salesmen are glorified order takers. But any company needs them too.

FRESH BREAD: My job is to put in the right quantities so my merchdise is always FRESH. SERVICE: Service means more than just serving a store. It is having bread there at the right time for greater customer convenience and maximim sales. Callbacks on key stops are an important part of good service.
