Comment: employees of ibc need 30 hours to be eligible for health benefits. After a 90 day period. My hours were cut from 30 to 22 the week before I was eligible for this. Then our store was closed with 3 days warning. No severance pay. This was all when I was 4 days from being eligible for unemployment. This behavior is unacceptable from any employer. I have 2 small children and am a single parent. I put in my time was an honest employee and gave the company my all. I strongly encourage anyone considering a job with IBC to run far far away! |

Instead of IBC wasting money issuing hundreds of corporate level retention checks for millions of dollars, they should issue them instead for purposes of redemption! Say it like it is, I say! That is, if they really want to save themselves as an ongoing business enterprise. |

Comment: If you added all of IBC's assest's,it would add up to 100's of millions of dollars. How the courts allow a big company like this to hide behind Ch. 11 bk iis unbelievable. All at the expense of their suppliers and their employees. Not to mention all the lawsuits filed against them.Just because they tell you that sales are down and their accountants on paper say they lose millions every Qtr. doesn't mean this company is broke. If you and I owned property, jewlrey, cars, etc. and spent more money this month than what we made,it doesn't mean we are going broke,it just means we have to make adjustments in our spending or maybe sell off some property or a car or two.Ch.11 is just a big scam in my opinion. |

Cooking the books in Jamaica, NY at Thriftstore's expense!
A recent post below exposed this possibility by reporting shipment shortages and never receiving credit after reporting them. At present, several IBC thriftstores continue to be billed several thousands of dollars for shipped goods that never arrive in their weekly shipments.
This apparent unlawful bookeeping practice would thereby make it possible for these "missing goods" to bolster sales figures and/or just be sold outright for cash at other IBC locations or through other persons including fellow employees.
It will take several months of additional investigation before we truly discover the reality, cause and effect of such an alleged practice. |

I do not understand why the bread stores are still open. Some may be showing a profit, but there are so many of them around that if they just had one store think of all the money they would have. Many people will drive miles away for cheap bread so you will retain most customers, B. from closing many others down IBC won't be paying wages, and insurance which would mean a hugh profit there. I went into the breadstore the last Saturday and they had three women working in this tiny store, 2 registers and they were only using one of them. This is a waste of money. Who oversees these people anyways? Probably someone who wan'ts to keep his management job without breadstores he would lose his job. Besides these bread sales will not all be lost, people need to buy bread from the grocery stores anyways. Bread stores were once put in place to get rid of stale bread. They no longer have their place in today's market. Do the math. |

High winds in the market place continue to strip away IBC stock levels by the minute. The last few weeks show them declining steadily in a piece-meal fashion with no end in sight. Recent rumors indicate when they hit the $4.75 waterline, corporate level executives will abandon ship in droves and IBC will implode. |

Comment: That might have been but were running a tight ship ,no delays even surprizing us.The cake side sells what they need unlike bread where you bring back or see tons of wasted dollars. The name doesnt sell, quaulity in both bread and cake.As for whos your daddy if cake which is the golden child and brings in all the profit goes we all go.Nobody beleives all routes are corrupt however there are lot wasted man power which equals money. And Ms. why do you want tye up and double load workers is beyond me Hodgkins cant handle what they got now ,everyones making a good effort in a impossible situation.Maybe its to late ,hell im typing my resume right after this post.As in the famous newman film what we have here is a failure to communicate, cant shake these idiotic buisness pratices by people trying to protect there employment no way to run a company.Cant see the cart before the horse.Beleive me the new owners which will be soon ,better hope it aint one of the beer barons will clean house like theres no tommorow,we all know what that meens bye bye to a lot of you upper classmen and some of us.When you run product should match when its shipped, loaded once, trucked once, timing is everything as for dolly they cant find drivers to work for them slave wages realy make little money. |

Comment: Bart, that's not what I'm suggesting. Schiller Park is still suffering from some Ralston Purina era mistakes like trying to produce more product than the dock can handle. Given the drop in cake volume out of Schiller it might make more sense to truck most of it to Hodgkins to be cross docked onto outgoing transports rather than across the street to that stupid warehouse.
The logic of this is pretty simple- Hodgkins ships at least twice as much as Schiller, so for the destinations Schiller can't fill up a trailer for it makes more sense to combine the load with Hodgkin's breads. |

The post from Hodgkins breaking it down (operational problems) is the type of information responsive management needs.
IBC appears to be a case of upper management failing to hold middle and line management accountable.
Several posts continue to repeat key words and phrases which allow readers to determine truth from fiction.
Luckily, we readers now have other corporations (like Sara Lee, Krispy Kreme) having similar problems and get to take a look at their respective management methodology.
What's my take on these three you ask? Well, IBC and Krispy Kreme are doomed. They built their house on several cards of lies, under the table deals and insider trading. And they both failed to meet today's business needs of survival by diversification. Sara Lee didn't make these mistakes and is going to outlive them. She is going to become an even better run corporation. Their newly hired CEO, Brenda Barnes is a parent (employer) who cares about her husband and children (customers and employees)! She has demonstrated her strength of conviciton and sacrificed her personal needs and desires for those of her immediate family! The real joys in life (the ones sending good feelings racing down our spines) don't get any better than this for us humans! |

Yet when it is mentioned to management nothing is done about it. These errors appear every week showing a inventory loss. This is getting riddiculous. Any suggestions? |

Comment: Lets look at the crack management team we have here:
1. Todd Brown - useless always in the breakroom
2. Jay Erwin - less than useless, always in the break room with above
3. Rick Bretch - he's ok BUT his always in the breakroom with the 2 above
4. Matt Stringer - ok
5. Tom (from office) USELESS don't ask him anything he doesn't know
6. HR department - do they even know what their jobs are
7. Shipping Department - always in the breakroom (I mean all of them)
8. Jerry Kemp - does he think he still runs the bakery? NO YOU DON"T
9. Tony Izzo - always wants to fire someone
10. Production Supervisors - do any of you know how to make rye bread - it looks like swiss cheese
11. Office - there's so much fighting among them - just go to the breakroom, yep the one everyone else is in, and listen to what they are saying. Iraq is probably more peacefull than the office.
If you really want to find out what is going on, go to the breakroom and listen.

Comment: Re: Midwest Transport Routing.... Sounds like time for Ms. Transports to speak up!
There is no point in having a Schiller-Hodgkins-Peoria shuttle when their is enough volume between Schiller and Hodgins alone, never mind the depots between the two, to keep transport drivers busy dat and night. As for mixing cake and bread, get used tp it- there is no point in having seperate trucks and transports all going to the same depots and stores. The only way to get transport drivers out of those wretched cabover sleepers and into there own beds at night is by combining bread and cake on the same trailer- so quit complaining and enjoy some time at home with your family instead of crawling out of the sleeper in the middle of the night to help unload at some 3 route truck Dolly "depot"! |

I am amazed! I left IBC last Sept. and you people are still doing the same thing you were when I left. Complaining about a company who could give a hoot about you or your jobs. I was a Branch Manager who held deep rooted beliefs in doing a good job for MYSELF and to make it as easy for the CO- WORKER to succeed. We run 6.5% returns and 10-12% growth, How? Setting ourselves above IBC standards (which isnt hard to do) LOOK you need to make a decision...Do you want to work where you are? Is it right for YOU and YOUR FAMILY? They are not going to change on their own, if you want to stay...MAKE A DIFFERANCE< BE AN EXAMPLE< HAS BICKERING HELPED YET? Me.. well I had to go, 10 yrs of 80+ hours was too much for myself and my family, I did the time,I hit the numbers, I pushed the market and yes my men, but they knew a tight ship was profitable for them. I dont know where IBC is going but I do know it will be in the dumps if attitutes dont change and people work as a team...if you dont like it or dont want to live this way..Leave there is life after IBC. I now work 45 hrs wkly from 80 and the same pay. I wish you all luck . ps: WHATS UP W/ THE CANADIAN WHITE FROM BIDDEFORD< NOT COOKED AGAIN? come on guys its the best bread out there...I want to buy it again |

Remember consumers that most if not all the stuff you put into your mouth is full of animal fats. Cost wise it is the cheapest yet will fetch big profits just like sugar and flour. Also look on the packages and read the list of chemical additives. It is no wonder that we as humans have big health problems because of what we eat. |

It's time for another Business 101 session on IBC corporate practice , my friends! Please recall IBC telling us (low-life working classes of people), they needed to throw private label production out the window and bring back their focus and increase production and sales of their in-house name branded products instead.
Too bad we failed to get their names. We could fix IBC real quick by putting them on a corporate body organ donors list! It has to be a great feeling, knowing how one can assist their competition in beating them at their own game! If IBC made computers, Bill Gates would not have to work as hard.
IBC just keeps on missing the boat! Their pride (name brands) and stupidity (which way is up?) is killing them in the market place! |

In case you may have missed it these last several years, America is not the nation of people it once was! Orgainized efforts to dumb down this once great nation of people have long been underway and continue to this very day.
Stripping jobs from American people and placing them overseas at third-world countries is another attempt by this same bunch of money grubbing no-goods.
The all but disappearance of affordable health care is another one!
The next fiasco is Social Security. They want to raise the cap to receive even more money for this program plus raise the age for retirement benefits to a level of age, no one possibly can live to retire much less anything else.
There used to be a day when we could trust our government to do the right thing. Not today, my friends!
This entire nation of people is headed straight to poverty.
I used to joke about it saying my government was in the business of taxing me to death. Today, I really believe it to be a true statement.
So, we don't need to worry how much longer IBC is going to live or die. All we really need to worry about is if we are going to outlive them ourselves. Another day, another opportunity to continue to live longer! Who cares about our higher needs in life, like art, transportation and the likes. |

Yes, WARN notices apply to IBC thrift stores! Now, in order to see if they also apply to a particular thrift store and/or a particular employee therein, further information is needed (like hours worked/length of employment/employee subject to seniority bumping)! If you don't know or have this information, contact the federal and state agency responsible for enforcing this type of employment-based law. Save your time and energy. Start to act now! |

IBC posted a 60 day WARN Notice on the EDD web site in California in or about 2003. It showed over 200 IBC employees located in San Pedro (DiCarlo Bakery) were facing a layoff.
Federal and State WARN Notices co-exist. Do your homework and web searches to find out more. Yes, you will have to spend some of your precious time and really make an effort! There are several rules, regulations and qualifications you must read to understand. However, if you qualify and were layed off without notice, you may receive the equivilant of 60 days pay as a penalty. We all know at this point that IBC Corporate has more money than brains! |

Comment: Indianapolis contract is up in May. This company has to tiptoe through contracts. This company cannot survive if the product isn't taken out every day. The teamsters know this and the company does not want any interruptions in the flow of product. They are caught in a catch 22 and they know it. Any contract will be extended if possible or will be settled in strong union areas. Long live the TEAMSTERS!!! The liquidation of this company cannot go on if We strike. Either way, We win. |

Comment: I don't think the sale of those 10 acres would be of any benefit to us.
It would lower our assets and any monies received would probably be held in trust to satisfy our creditors. We probably wouldn't be allowed to use it to clear up just one specific debt. Being in "Debtor in Possession" financing leaves us completely at the mercy of the banks.
The only way we can come out of this as a viable company is to be able to show a profit by reduction of costs and increasing sales.
The good news is that IBC has managed to reduce their labor costs by $7 million over the last 4 weeks.
The bad news is they only managed to cut their deficit by $2.5 million (they lost 14.5 million in the period ending 12/11 and 11.9 in the period ending 1/8).
It ain't looking pretty! I guess all we can do is keep working and waiting. |

Comment:
Forty million dollars was placed in IBC accounting books to cover their workers compensation claim costs just prior to filing for BK reorganization and protection.
This was a calculated move made by IBC in order to ensure they would be able to continue to operate (work) in those states of the union that require employers to either purchase or to provide (self-insure) work injury insurance for their workforce.
When these funds (monies) cease to exist (run out), each state will forclose and shut down IBC work locations under respective state laws dealing with this particular area of labor law. |

It is a mis- representation that you retire with full benefits, yes you get full money, but when you deduct your insurance premium, it is far from what you are old

IBC finds themselves busy cooking up a lot more that just bread in their workplace. They are busy cooking up stories as well. They are telling us stories (pure fabrications some say!) about their needs to file for bankruptcy and the like in order to save this once great company and to save our jobs but the real stories they should be telling us they choose to keep secret from us.
What they have been busy with lately, is undermining the entire foundation of IBC in preparation of a pending landslide soon to take place. The leading "poster child" for corporations today that abuse the bankruptcy system is Enron. It happens to be Enron simply because they have the most profound level of corporate corruption in this infamous field of expertise.

The issues facing us today are not about the latest news breaking on IBC's horizon but about the most absurd news breaking with regards to this corporation and their present status in our workplace.
Handing over millions of IBC dollars in bonus money, to a favored few (500 key employees!) of their so-called 37,000 total employees, in the form of a bribe to just stay on board, is a good place to start this discussion.
The next place we need to discuss is how can IBC receive and spend over 250 million dollars in revenue each month and have to put an additional 15 million dollars with it just to break even!
Working people like you and I need to join and to pay unions in order to get paid more money and benefits while our counterparts at the corporate level file for BK in order to make their really big bucks without having to pay the membership costs and monthly dues we have to pay!
Are you starting to get the real picture now?

Today's local news leads with the story Winn Dixie Stores in the Southeast has filed for bankruptcy reorganization protection. They now declare to have a plan to reduce expenses, improve operations and decide how to better use its assets to make their 900 stores more productive for their 80 thousand workers.
Well, excuse me but is this not what management does during the normal course of their employment duties?
Does anybody besides me see a pattern here for todays' corporations? Acting as individuals, if we file for BK, We're not able to obtain additional credit for any amount much less 800 million!
It sounds like they are working the system by cooking the books and bleeding off corporate assets, then by hook or crook, placing them into their own pockets.
Their lenders have to be co-conspirators as well. Nobody is going to loan this much money without getting something in return! |

Comment: Look I can file BK too if the courts would let me. Let see,I own 2 houses worth about $1 million dollars,I owe about $150 thousand on both of them.I write down in my bk petetion that they are worth about $100 thousand each.My Mercedes is worth about $30K but because of depreciation now it is only worth about $5K and I still owe 15K, and so on and so on.You get the picture.Ch. 11 BK is nothing but a scam so as not to pay your actual bills (and lawsuits) and then make your employees so scared that they will give back any gains they've made in wages and benefits. One example of the BS is the close to 10 acres of property that IBC owns in San Pedro(the newspaper article said it was the most attractive piece of property in SP). If this Co. is in such bad shape, why doesn't the court make them sell it? What's more important?More workers out of work,or a season of Little League? IBC wants to prolong this restructuring at your expense(the workforce),that's why they will let this Little League use the property until after their 2006 season. What was the cash donation for?So they would'nt move before 2006 and then they (IBC) could prolong their restructuring. |

Comment: First time on sight, seeing alot of complaining about management and other employees,I ask are you doing what it takes to make sure the product that is going out the door looks good, cause if your not then blame yourself.Dont blame everyone else, and make excuses.Yes ive seen in the paper and on the news how certain employees are getting bonuses when this is all done,But does this matter if we are still working and putting out good product. One thing im tired of is seeing management bitch about employees and vise versa. If we worked together and worried about the product maybe we can make this work out.Ive been with the plant in davenport for 17yrs and have friends on both sides of the fence, does thier have to be afence?Dosent mean im a brown noser or ass kisser, just means i know its not the management at the plant,it goes much higher then that. They do what their told to do too.Yes ive left now cause it is to much to take, everyone putting the blame elsewhere, and not looking with in.17yrs is a lot of time to give up,but i needed to go where their is less drama.I wish ALL my friends at the davenport plant good luck, and i truely hope everything works out.BEST WISHES,RICK P.S. anybody needs anything just call, most of you know my #GOOD LUCK. |

Comment: Anonymous,
Dont be so hard on yourself!!!! This is a somewhat vague situation. Which Bimbo is our Bimbo?
I stand by my initial explanation to Honey Buns from last week. My description/response was greatly oversimplified, just designed as a brief response to her question. I dont claim to be an authority on this subject or any other, just another employee somewhat uncertain of their destiny during these times. One question though, how about a better name than Anonymous ,or at least ,A... 694. This way we know who we are listening to.Pick a code number to validate your claim as an employee if that is what you are. |

Latest Bimbo update!
It now appears there may be more than one Bimbo standing in the crowd! Recent reports on this name now indicate more than one Bimbo Bakery exists on earth!
At this time, one Bimbo Bakery is reported to be owned by Sara Lee a company with headquarters in the United States and the other is owned by Grupo Bimbo with headquarters located in Mexico!
Well! Live and learn! |

Comment: Re: Emporia, KS.
Order desk needs help.
The order desk in California is almost non existing. We have regressed backwards and now take orders through the Distribution or Production departments. If you need bread or buns just tell us it for an emergency add.
Do this either daily or by the hour.
Its too bad that IBC invested all that money for Handheld for the routes when we don't use them as they were designed for.
May I Have Your Order Please? |

Comment:
After reviewing several contradictory (And I might add quite condescending as well!) reports indicating Bimbo is not really a part of Sara Lee as I reported to you earlier, I wish to make the following comments.
I performed a re-investigation with respect to this question regarding Bimbo and I have concluded that my orginal report wherein I stated Bimbo was acquired by Sara Lee in or about 2001 still stands.
For those who continue to disagree with my findings and report, after logging onto saralee.com, may God help you!
If you really want to learn the truth about something or someone in life, you have to decide to be willing to allow yourself to be mistaken at times, abused a lot, and lied to a lot, as well. Jesus, was the son of god, and he had to face these same conditions on earth when he agreed to "try to save mankind." |

Comment: Restructuring/Retention Bonus!!!!!!
You have to be kidding. Why would a judge allow a bunch of bandits to continue to pillage what was once a great company? This institutional knowledge that we put so much value on, certainly is not going to come from this group that has gotten us to this point of being the laughing stock of the industry. How about giving them a bonus to go help our competitors. |

Mr. Anonymous Bimbo Toady with the nice history lesson, how is it that your NON AMERICAN OWNED BIMBO Baking was able to dodge the same anti-trust regulation that caused IBC to lose the Weber's label in So. Cal and the Butternut label in some parts of the midwest? There was no heavy Federal anti-trust suits filed when your dirty company aquired the Weber's, Oroweat, Boboli, Old Country, Entenmann's, Thomas' , and Four-S labels/Bakeries, who in the Government did your greasy leaders grease to get away with this??? |

Comment: It still amazes me that a company that has assets that would cover any debt can file BK?
And now they can throw money away on donations to little league and give retention bonues to some people in positions that were just waiting for some kind of package deal to leave?
Now, all these slugs have to do is hang on a little while longer to get a big payday.
If they do like they have in the past and fix the figures to "show" that company made a profit. Then they receive even more $$$.

He is a major player in the businees world of Billings, Montana. Some of those businesses are nation wide. He told me that some businesses might change where they get their bread and buns at. He said the rest of them do not like the way they are being treated by the sales people at the plant. Yes I work in the plant but I wanted them figure this out. They harass me I will see them in court faster then they can say Boo! |

They do indeed read the posts here but they do not respond here intead the foward the posts via intranet email to the suspects directly they sit around and laugh and joke about who made it on the twinkie dot org. board then they retailiate . If its a consumer complaint that goes directly into the trash can now if its a distribution complaint that has merit and its from a route sales guy ( you can tell by the lingo they use) and its about the west coast then
the sultan of Bombay in Phoenix gets the email , then he may make a trip to trouble shoot the distribution snag right Picashy? |

Comment: Why is it that the company I. B. C. does not respond to any of these problems, suggestions or statements on this site? Is it because these statements are true and responding would only be answered in lies? I think they have too much money and clout and do not care anyway. But it would be nice to see just a few responces by the company management. If they do not care about the employee i would think then they do not care about the consumer either. |

Comment: This Co. has alot of assets that have gone unreported and/or undervalued. Why were they allowed to file Chapter 11 bk? If you owned alot of assets, they (the courts)would not allow you to file bk. Management using bk as a tool now will ask their creditors and the workforce to suffer, then later when the dust settles they'll have all this cash to blow amonst themselves. |

Comment:
Discover this my web-friends!
While surfing the web this morning from the comfort of my den with hail and thunder taking place outside, I took the advice of a like-site-surfer and logged onto Bimbo in order to view whatever information and noteworthy news I could.
I must say I was quite surprised to find that Bimbo (founded in Spain) is a wholly-owned division of the Sara Lee Bakery Group having been acquired in or about 2001.
Bimbo it seems was part of Earthgrains which was also acquired by Sara Lee when they acquired Bimbo.
Please recall that Sara Lee has also been in the financial news lately and she now has a new female CEO named Brenda standing at her helm.
A case of overdiversification and a specific case of an employment-based lawsuit of sex discrimination filed against their former ousted male CEO appears to be the problems noted here and we can soon expect to discover what they will do in order to either fix it or just decide to sell off or bury several of their under performing corporate bodies. |

Comment: I think people are not buying IBC brand for 2 main reasons. First there is a problem in America with children and adults as far as obesity. It is out of control and many food producers includeing IBC has contributed to the problem with their unhealthy so called fast foods. It is a fact these foods are not healthy to consume and in the long run may shorten your life or could contribute to health problems. People today are more health alerted and try to cut down on the sugar and animal fats. Second i think is the so called in store bakerys. You may purchase breads and rolls, cakes etc that were baked fresh the same day and in many cases are still warm when you buy them. Who wants product that has been laying on the shelves for days or weeks? I have noticed many complaints on this site about stale and moldy bread and cake products. It would seem like quality control and customer service is not a priority. Customer satisfaction must be maintained and addressed to build up the confidence of the consumer. There are just too many unresolved complaints here. It looks like the ship is sinking. |

Comment: Good post below.
Also factor in that even people who are not officially on a low carb diet are just not eating as much bread or sweets as they used to. At least they're not buying it and taking it home.
Yes, the level of obesity in this country is higher than ever, and some people still eat Twinkies and other stuff like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if two things were true.
First, it's probably true that the majority of overweight people (the types more likely to keep a company like IBC in the black) are also poorer than most of the people who now avoid our products. Second, it's probably also true that the people who are most likely to still buy bread and cake every week either can't or won't pay a higher price for Wonder or Twinkies when they can get another label much cheaper.
As a result, we have to either make cheaper products or expect to make less of a profit by lowering our prices to compete.
There was a time in this country when everyone, rich or poor, had at least one loaf of bread in the house and sugary treats for their kids. Not anymore. And the widening gap between the classes in this country only means that poor people will only have a loaf of the cheapest bread they can afford, while the middle and upper classes may have fresh-baked bread from a trendy local bakery (if they have it at all) and only healthy snacks for their kids. No Ding Dongs, no Twinkies.
We used to have the whole market, and now we only have part of it . . .and the part we have left is broke and looking for bargains. The consumer with money isn't buying IBC at the rate they used to at all. |

Comment:
I think the simple business of baking bread and getting it to market today has changed. Too many outside forces prevent what once was a straight forward business to continue to operate as they have in the past.
A business today, having to pay the expense for another to labor therein has always been a major cost item with the exception of those building Pyramids long ago, when the cost of human labor was at it lowest point.
Factor in captial expense, government regulations, class action lawsuits and the like and one quickly discovers that it is all but impossible to survive in this type of business very long. Being able to maintain absolute control of all things at all times is one of their largest impediments. Think of it as a process of having to walk around on egg shells all day long without crushing even one of them.
Then most of their customers think about a loaf of day old bread to be as popular as yesterday's newspaper and you have agreed you will personall "eat" all store returns without question!
This is due to the fact that baked goods start to lose their marketablity at a rate almost as fast as one spends their change from a twenty-dollar bill fast food purchase.
Couple this with the numorus in-house ovens baking bread while your potential customer shops and you can quickly see how difficult it has become to hammer out a living doing baked bread. |

And this is just one property. How many other properties like this does IBC own?Yet you have all these creditors stuck in BK court with nothing. How lame is that?Next, they're going to ask us workers in SoCal to give up some? You watch, when they get out of Chapter11 they are going to have alot of money to blow on upper mngmnt. like they have in the past. What a bunch of thieves. |

Comment: Hey IBC what about my local little league area?
Tom Wilson would not contribute to any youth team sports because if you did it for one team you would have to do it for others? And then they were only asking for $100.
But then again that was when we were just IBC and not One-IBC.
Amazing how things change. |

Comment: Honey Buns,Bimbo is pronounced BEEMBO. This is the (name?) of the small black and white Cartoon bear pictured on the side of the route delivery trucks owned by the company of the same name. This company is a South American Bakery conglomerate that in the past few years has acquired a major player in the Southwestern U.S. bakery industry. Approximately two years ago they managed to avoid the same anti-trust restrictions that would of most likely prohibited a merger of U.S. Wholesale Bakers when they purchased the labels of Orowheat,Thomas Muffins and Entenmanns,as well as their Bakeries. The personnel were also absorbed in this transaction and were for the most part not negatively impacted, except in the cases of some route restructuring as the dovetailing ocurred with the existing Bimbo route sales people, and Fornaca distributors. To all my fellow routepersons... I dont mean to downplay your particular circumstances as they may have related to this merger. This is a brief explanation to Honey Buns for all the nation to see since BEEMbo has probably made their presence known in other parts of our wonderful country by now. |

I beg to differ with. "You can't sue someone in BK-11." You can sue anyone, whereever and for whatever, however one does not normaly sue someone and spend needlessly where they would find themselves foreclosed from collecting. IBC has not made themselves judgement proof...they have only made it a requirement that you stand in line to sue and then stand in line again in order to collect should they have assets left for same at that point in time.

Speaking about "Bimbo" it was a known fact in or about December 2003, that Bimbo did a walk-through at the IBC Dicarlo Bakery in San Pedro, CA for purposes of acquiring it.
This event was reported by several IBC employees working there at the time Bimbo executives did their walk-through.
It was a known fact and was being openly discussed by the workforce working at this location as an unusual event.
Several weeks later, this type of talk died down and business returned to normal.
Several months later, IBC closed DiCarlo completely and 300 employees were affected. It is reported to remain closed to this very day. Impacted employees were placed at several IBC plants elsewhere and others never returned to work or went elsewhere.
In September 2004, IBC declared BK, Chapter 11. |

The bullshit employees receive today from corporate officers just never seems to end. Recent reports indicate the real reason for Sara Lee's recent announcement of a new female CEO and their announced plans for a reorganization is because their prior CEO named McMillan, who took the job in 2000 was facing a sexual-harassment lawsuit last year filed by a young lady who applied for a job. It was settled December 2004 for an undisclosed amount of money and conditions.
Why is it these Corporate assholes can't get it up unless they pick on the hired help? |

The cutoff point you mention will most likely apply to those IBC positions who are responsible for the various jobs where they schedule, supervise, order, mix, bake, and deliver the product to the point of sale. Anyone else below these will not get it. Those below will get to do twice the work however and a chance to chew on the bone! |

Yes! Incompetence is an absolute virtue at IBC practiced without end by countless cults of corporate-like misfits.
Not only does IBC inform their entire workforce of their being hired and retained on an at-will basis but now they are telling some of them (The chosen few!) that they will now start to receive "a bonus" if they will not quit!
Oh Mercy! I predict that IBC is inviting hordes of employment-based lawsuits which will outlive IBC! The legal profession is really loving this! What planet does IBC use to recruit their management from? It can't be Earth! |

Retention Bonuses await at IBC
Nearly 500 employees if IBC could receive up to $14 million in bonuses to remain at the company as it goes through bankruptcy reorganization.
under the plan, 494 of the company's approximately 5700 non-union employees would qualify for bonuses.

In case anyone missed the news this morning, IBC is making a move in San Pedro, CA to make themselves look like one of the good guys by helping out a local Little League baseball team. IBC, in the form of Mark Cooper, a site manager in Pomona, CA indicates they can continue to play ball on Company property until 2006 plus spend $250,000.00 of IBC donated money, as well.
Naturally, the news article includes several paragraphs stating how great IBC is, and how the BK judge gave all this hoopla his needed consent!
Mark Cooper is the same guy who published and posted a company letter stating IBC was not guilty of race discrimination in San Francisco following the juries verdict which found they were!
This guy is bought and paid for by the highest bidder. He is nothing but a company puppet on a string. Therefore, he is not capable of knowing nor stating the truth on any subject. |

"We had some Dolly drivers working for us at hostess when we were told I.B.C had bought the company.
I?ll never forget the look on there faces when they heard the news. They said ?OH my God we are in trouble! They started telling us stories of stupidity and kickbacks and nepotisms ,greed and the total
Lack of understanding. One guy told me they will run us into the ground so fast our heads will spin."
You should investigate what a sorry state CBC was in right before the merger, why do you think ITT and then Ralston Purina were so ready to dump CBC? I worked for Langendorf, then Dovetailed into Dolly, but when CBC bought Dolly, that's when I realized that CBC was being run by a bunch of moron's, and that retarded mentality somehow infected and infested the management of IBC when it took over CBC. Believe me, Langendorf Cakes-Cookies was fine under American Bakeries (then Good Stuff for those of you who remember) we were fine when we dovetailed into Dolly Madison, CBC by far has been the worst, and it seems that retarded CBC mentality took over IBC like a cancer and with the help of greedy management, pretty much destroyed a once proud and powerful bakery. |

Comment: Overweight and at work?
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods ? such as bananas ? every two hours to keep levels steady. |

Comment: Best Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup toasted walnuts or pecans, chopped
3 ripe, soft, darkly speckled large bananas, mashed well (about 1 1/2 cups)
1/4 cup plain yogurt
2 large eggs, beaten lightly
6 tablespoons butter, melted then cooled
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation:
Adjust oven rack to lower middle position and heat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease bottom only of regular loaf pan, or grease and flour bottom and sides of nonstick 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan.
Combine dry ingredients together in large bowl and set aside.
Mix mashed bananas, yogurt, eggs, butter, and vanilla with wooden spoon in medium bowl.
Lightly fold banana mixture into dry ingredients with rubber spatula until just combined and batter looks thick and chunky.
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan; bake until loaf is golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 55 minutes.
Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for 4 days, on the counter for 2 days. |

You can observe also by listening. I am not now, or ever have been, from Brooklyn.
The anonymous rat seems insistent to blurb out the name of some person he does not like on this site (for spite?). This poor cake guy doesn't even know he's going to be ratted on.
Lighten up Francis!

Comment:
It's my understanding IBC-based SOAR contracted a yeast infection of some kind while making their appointed rounds at several of their bakery plants in California thereby causing them to lose their hot air (ballast) and collapsed quite unexpectedly! Rumor has it they may have fallen into one of the dough mixers and are now making their way down Route 66 disguised as a loaf of baked bread enroute to a local WalMart for quick delivery and a local sales promotion. |

As Yogi advises, "Never answer an anonymous letter." ....but from the "You've got to be careful if you don't know where you're going 'cause you might not get there".. department, let's set the record straight.
I work hard. Long days. I sell BREAD. Neither my depot or any customers are in Brooklyn. AND.... from " Don't get me right, I'm jusk asking.." department
Someone has a lot of pent up aggression that is being misdirected. Go ahead - be a rat - name names - no skin off my nose - for you have mistaken some imposter for the real king of NY, cha ching, the friendly neighborhood bread man.

Comment:
For those that missed it or for those that need to be reminded, the Teamsters Union is known as the most corrupt labor union in America. The Teamsters have been under federal supervision since 1989 when they agreed to be subject to a federal oversight committee noted as the Independent Review Board (IRB) rather than face a federal lawsuit filed against them under the Rico Act. In turn, the Teamsters pay the IRB tens of millions of dollars in oversight fees each year out of their bank accounts which consist mainly of their so-called membership dues paying dollars.
The Teamsters Union is also known for making sweetheart deals with employers which make all affected employees therein virtual slaves without a voice or workplace rights. Employers like WalMart choose not to be associated with the likes of the Teamsters Union.
Greed, graft and corruption is not something WalMart would willingly choose to have in their workplace anymore than Jewish people would choose to allow Hitler in theirs. Get it right people! Your very lives depend on it. It is not that difficult! |

Usually the level of ignorance and beligerance that spawns this sort of inane letter (from the person who posted in December) is a result of someone with a personal ax to grind. The Teamsters have improved the lives of millions of workers in this country and they continue to do so. With any luck at all, they will be able to help the much-abused employees at Wal*Mart. They are to be applauded, not derided.

Note: Employee Vacations are treated as earned wages under most state laws including union work agreements. Chapter 11 may not apply here to prevent payment of vacation periods earned. Continue to check these areas of law out and get it in writing from IBC. Then be sure to follow it up where you legally can including filing a wage grievance with your union where applicable. Get ready for the final IBC sonic boom to take place soon in your work area! |

Comment: What in the world is going on with the formula in Cincy. Some genious in KC is crunching numbers and saying that we can save 6 cents per loaf if we take this out and sub this for this. There is a reason that B-nut has been in this mkt for over 100 yrs, because people like it!! We have had more customer complaints in the last 4 wks than I have ever heard of. And from what I hear this is happening all over the country with the formulas. Maybe if they would pay more attention to the mkt and what our key accounts are doing to us, like cutting space, we might be ok. Leave the formulas alone and concentrate on selling mass displays to our key accts and stop letting the competition beat us to it! |

IBC is stuck in the groove and something or someone needs to shake them up in order to get them out of it. Changing their bread and cake delivery routes around without forethought and input from the men and women who do this type of work is doomed to failure.
Let me give you an example, please!
Exide Battery makes car and truck batteries which in turn they also provide in-store delivery to each point of sale. For the most part, they serve and deliver to auto part stores in and around California.
The company has a policy that their delivery drivers not only deliver to the point of sale but also perform various other tasks like rotating the stock on the customers shelf, dusting, inventory control and all without no assistance from the store level.
These batteries are heavy and corrosive as well. California is known for a lot of traffic and the driver is not born yet who can drive 65 miles an hour on a congested 25 miles an hour only freeway.
Their drivers cannot deliver and service their customers fast enough to make a profit. Drivers who try to cut corners are involved in fender benders and serious vehicle accidents. Management is frozen in time and blind as well.
Changes they should have seen and made....!
What they needed to change was their agreement to make, deliver, inventory and clean the displays of their customers.
They should have let the customer receive, stock and inventory their product with the understanding that delivery time is of essence (20 minutes to a delivery). They should have performed a cost study to see if they needed to have their own trucks and drivers deliver their product or a third party. Idea's can come from the bottom layers of an organization but they must be adopted and enforced from the top. |

Everyone at IBC should well remember that you cannot have your cake and eat it too! Neither can you get 10 pounds of bullshit in a 5 pound bag.

Comment: So the plan is to take bread routes and give them fewer stops with more volume while keeping the cake
Routes the same only giving all the bread for the Am Pm? 7-11, ect to the cake routes.
Oh and the Sams Clud , Costco?s the cake will go to the bread drivers .{who by the way will not take care of it and we will loose the accounts}. So the bread drivers will have less stops make more money
While the cake drivers will have no life at all to speak of. Sure can tell the a bunch of bread guys are running things , So let be the first to tell you. F*ck You A** Holes!
My brothers in 63 are you stupid fucks figuring it out yet, I tried to tell you why Hector sold you out and rushed the contract extintion thru . None of this could take place with out him doing it.More and more of your jobs will be lost and in the long run we all will be surching for work. So F*ck You also! |

Comment: What position does Mary Booker hold now? Are the frequent flier miles to go see a Wilson or to Vegas? Either way you can bet IBC paid for the tickets! Another amazing story out of San diego, an order desk clerk promoted to manager of thrift stores

What the Hell happened to the site?? Did someone get pissed off and delete everyone?? Someone needs to take over IBC and do something with it before it goes down the shitter. Management sucks in this company and care about nothing more than getting their check. If they actually had to work, they'd probably quit. Why hasn't anyone gone to the better business bureau?? |

IBC refuses to disclose vital information regarding their business plans and we (employees and customers alike) absolutely cannot just sit by and take it in the you know what, any longer.
We can turn our attention to the recent news about Krispy Kreme and Hewlett-Packard and other groups of like-employers who find themselves in trouble today and what they are saying and doing to and with their employees and customers.
I've had the time to review them all and to compare one against the other, as well. They've all spent billions of corporate dollars on pipe dreams and themselves and forgot about the really important issues and ignored known facts.
They all ended up by mixing themselves and others a deadly brew of poison which they now share in common and should be seeking an antidote before it's too late. |

Comment: If you really are 'management' from Davenport, why don't you know how to spell the word? If you are a manager and are this stupid, it's clear what is wrong in the bakery >>> people who can't even spell are in charge of everything!
If you're not really a manager, then why put stuff like this up here? Why kiss their butts? They can't save your job and they don't care about you >>>they are too busy trying to save their own behinds. |

Comment: Well folks the days are getting longer. I see a bunch of production people running to the union office at Federal St ....Funny that I am scheduled to this building for work at a monthly basis and ironically I always see someone from the old "grind" at the bakery....I drive by the building (bakery) at least twice a day and there are less cars in the lot across the street then before. If anyone had a clue about the mission statement of business ethics their employer endorsed or the key personal objectives of upper management, the lot would be more EMPTY>> I thought the place started to suck when the changes in engineering dept started.....but I was prejudice.....bbye |

Comment: Re: Krispy Kreme
Coporate turnaround specialist Stephen Cooper has found that top executives at troubled companies don't like to give up their perks?
Its time for Mr. Alvarez to dump the company leased cars? I'm pretty sure IBC doesn't have a corporate jet but they may have a Bus hidden and parked somewhere?
Come on Tony, Krispy Kreme is going to pull ahead of us if we just sit around and wait? Keep cutting? Why do we need so many VP's?
Why do we need QC? we us to do this out of the Plants.
Lots of cuts that can be made. |

The irony of all this type of human behavior, is where one practices to deceive others, they in turn start to believe their own line of lies! Then, hopefully for the rest of us, they find themselves soon to be a long time guest at their local Nut House! |

"I hope the rumor is true that the new management is going to get rid of the excess supervisors and management. Many just walk around and talk to the girls on the lines or sit in the lunch rooms smoking and talking for great lengths of time. Some sit at their computers trying to look busy. It is a shame. Anytime an employer hires three managers per every 10 employees is the time someone needs to tell this employer they need to outsource their hiring and staffing needs.
Even Bill Gates with the billions he makes knows that for every dollar business spends they have to have more dollars in return to keep their doors open. The only business who can afford to spend more than they make is our U. S. Government. I know...our Government is not supposed to be in business but I believe it has become one over the last twenty or so years. Our government is in the business of taxing us to death! |

Comment: To management: what do you mean at least you put your name? I don't call management putting your name. ANYONE can do your job. I don't think any of you managers have went to school to learn how to be a manager. The only reason any of you are in the jobs you are in is because you suck ass well. Wise up, you won't have a job anymore than we will. It doesn't take skills to sit around all day and talk, or sit at the computer and read the paper, or sit in the smoke room and smoke cigars.....The only reason why Mike Connell is here is because the person they originally chose did not want to be a manager over this bakery because it is so F***** up. Mike Connell was out of a job and they needed to somewhere to stick him, because whoever he is sucking still needed to get thier monthly suck job............So, management do yourself a favor if you make a post realized you are truly the DUMBASS! |

Comment: what the smart mouth managers from davenport who post here don't realize is that you are being lied to. they only tell you that your job is safe to keep you loyal while the people who work for you get fired left and right. they need you now, but soon they won't. one or two f you might get offered another job in another bakery someplace else but it's not likely. why would ibc do that? they already have production or shipping managers at other plants. very few corporations ever make good on that kind of promise anyway. even if you do get an offer it sure won't be for the job or salary you have now. you won't have any seniority someplace else *DUH* and they won't replace existing management in another bakery with you. it wouldn't make sense to. don't be fools. ibc doesn't care any more about you than they do anybody else. |

I purchased four packages of Dolly Fudge Brownie. They were on sale for 2/$1. They were in date. We were on a trip with very linited funds and usually pick up Dolly something because the price is low and the calories will keep us for 2 meals.
These brownies howerever were dry and awful. It may have the been the temperature of the store fluxuating that caused them to be so dry. I looked for a batch #, but could no find one. The bar code is #41300 80443. I don't know if this helps or not.

I am very sorry for all the suing going on in America. I understand minorities and their plight. I am Irish decent and my people were sold to Africa as slaves, but we hae not sued Africa. My Grandfather came here as an orphan from Ireland. This was 1875 when there were signs out, "No dogs or Irish welcome here". We did not sue America. This has taken on a life of its own and the customers are picking up the tab. Where does it stop? How do we get it to stop? Settlements in the millions is uncalled for!! We need a cap on what you can receive in a lawsuit. How much did the Lawyers make and what did the workers get?
It is sad, very sad...bev |

After reading Krispy Kreme article about them hiring turn around speciallist and seeing that they are paying their goofballs even more per hour then we are.

The post recommending Ms. Carly Fiorina, for the job as the Savior of IBC is probably the best suggestion yet? This gal is driven! She cannot stand still and she is a great salesperson with no problem of vision for a better IBC. She will not rest nor golf until the job is finished. It will no longer be the good old boys club at IBC. She will make them produce or else! Go Carly, I say. |

What does fate hold for IBC? Are they going to merge, be acquired or just go belly-up in the market place of America?
Since filing for BK Chapter 11, it appears they have joined the ranks of the sleeping dead. It feel like they have their heads under the covers hoping all their problems will just disappear.
Well it doesn't work that way! Their biological clock is ticking and it could explode at anytime. Judging from their declining stock prices, one could say it should happen sometime soon. |

If he didn't have everyone to do the job than he would'n't be able to walk around all day doing nothing. He is the only person that can walk around and do absolutely nothing but still recieve a paycheck. At least Jeff K. acts like he is doing something. |

As I wrote before, the compliments will not come until the company produces quality products again.
However, as long as the quality of the products is down, there will be nothing but complaints.
It is really a simple concept to understand. As long as the same problem continues (bad quality products) most of the complaints will be the same.
The most consumers probably do not leave an email address knowing for well (frome reading complaints on this site) that no gives a sh*t to their needs or concerns.
More than likely, they are only posting to vent steam like most people on this site. |

The complaints are all wordered about the same ( I used to buy all my life, I was so delighted, now the product stinks, will never buy again) and no one ever leaves an e-mail address on how to contact them. It would seem this site is run by our competitors- doubt if this will make posting |

What is this so called IBC employee severance program I am hearing about on this site?
Note: It's where IBC surgically removes (therefore "severs") your scrotum and testes from the rest of your body along with your continued employment, paycheck, health and welfare and pension benefits, sick leave, and vacations without warning, and shortly thereafter your wife and childern including any family pets leave you for greener pastures. |

Hello,
I always purchase Home Pride Potato bread. Used to I never had any troubles with it, but here lately I have to waste half the loaf because of huge brown chunks in the bread and sometimes mold. I am very upset about this because bread costs alot and I am a single mother and do not have money to waste. I just wonder what has happened to the quality of your Home Pride bread because lately it is nothing to be proud of. |

Notable changes at Krispy Kreme are not a corporate secret!
KK declared they are laying off hundreds of employees and selling off their jet plane in an attempt to control their decent into bankruptcy.
KK forced out their CEO and installed another in his place skilled in the art of rehablitating troubled businesses.
Where are the announcements-in-kind from IBC? Maybe someone should check their pulse to see if they are still alive! Keep on Trucking! |

How can you not see this when you log onto this site? However, there continues to be product complaints etc. etc. etc. Where are the compliments? I am beginning to wonder if the people behind this site are also the people behind the "complaints". If you pay attention they are all worded pretty much the same. Hmmm? I wonder if this will make it to be posted. |

My wife purchased a loaf of 100% Whole Wheat bread at the Falls Church, VA Shopper Food Warehouse a week ago. Today, when eating a piece of toast from this loaf, I noticed a stange object in my mouth. Upon inspection, i noted that it was a slice thickness long piece of a pencil. I also noticed that in the next slice of the loaf there was a baked in piece of pencil.
What should I do about this? Imagine pencils either falling into or being put into bread! |

For those that see the disparity at work and wonder when change is coming to their workplace, remember this. Depending on where you perform your work, change may never come for you.
Notable change tending to declare plans to deal with and thereby exit bankruptcy cannot be a corporate secret. To date, no one at IBC has announced one nor has anyone working there on a day-to-day basis ever sighted one that we know of.
If we cannot see, touch, smell or hear such a plan of recovery, then however sad it may be, we know it is because such a plan does not exist and we are all being sold a bill of goods (scammed). |

Comment: To the workers who were layed off while the lead men and supervisors stay on and do nothing. Corporate most likely took the advice of the local bakery management staff which will support their loyal and ass sucking stooges and maintain their positions while good class working people are let go and others have to take on additional work loads. Too much favoritism and to hell what is good for the bakery. This is why the good old boys are still there. One big happy family holding on together. |

Comment: Isn't it amazing that the waste of money from corporate office came down here to lay people off and in the event lays off the people that work instead of the so called "lead men" from sanitation, who walk around and do nothing all day. So the guys that actually work have to work twice as hard, while the butt kissers do nothing but walk around and talk all day. Then you wonder why the company is in the shape it is. |

Comment: Mr. Cooper, now that you have your boy Barquist on board how about fixing the mess in our plants. Its been 6-8 weeks since I posted last and I want you to know things have not changed at all!! Miscoded product, poor quality, missing product. Until you solve these problems you can't honestly go out on the market and attempt to maximize our market share. Again this week we order for promo items that don't go on sale at both Staters and Albertsons! There is a lack of supervision and no accountability because this is permitted to happen week after week!! The salesmen all got a good laugh over the memo sent out to check every salesman that wears shorts. The shorts must have the IBC logo on them or what Disciplinary action to correct this was taken. Our shirts are going on 3 years old but hey its ok to wear those because IBC has to pay 75% for those! Lets worry about the shorts when you can get the correct amount of bread to the right depot!! It seems the priorities are misplaced. Focus on the Production and Distribution problems, then once you have that at acceptable F-up levels you can get out on the market and address the Sales end of the operation....also in need of re-organization. I'm sure Mr Barquist has some fresh ideas and most of us salesmen are ready to give him 100%... but fix the plant problems or his direction will go nowhere if we can't get the product!! |

Comment: I go to college and I major in Human Resources. From what I have read, it doesn't seem that IBC uses good ethics in none of their plants. That HR person in Montana is doing the dead opposite that I learn in school. Our books tells us that HR department strives to make things go smooth between empler and employees. It sounds like she does the dead opposite. She may tear it down but her reputation will take the biggest hit. |
