Cake vend price in Northern California is .56 to .62 cents. We have been at that price for the past 6 months, very little business lost.

To the guy who says IBC is giving up on Texas. IBC closed the Dallas bakery in '96 and Earthgrains took over the Wonder label which over time pulled the brand. So if you say they have gving up, it was back then and not now. They have started putting out Baker's Inn breads at Wal Marts in Texas.

Well where do I start. I work at the New Hope thrift store and let me tell you, my manger is the most dumbest person I've have ever known. She is like a fly that you try to swat, but always miss. First she hangs over you like a I don't know what then she sneeks around the shelves spying on you,she treats us like little kids like we don't know what to do like were helpless. TO ANONYMOUS IN DAVENPORT I used to work for Mike Connel in Minot. He was in way over his head. He made some very poor business decisions and ran Minot into the ground. At one time IBC had 75 routes out of that plant and and Mike dwindled it down to near nothing. He moved to Billings after Minot closed and I heard he nearly sank that. And what does IBC do? They move him to Davenport. If I was a betting man I would say Davenport is TOAST!

Re: Nolan If the Co. wants to say work hours start at first stop and ends at last stop tell them fine. Then tell them to bring the truck to the first stop and you will call them from your last stop to come pick it up. You will love the reaction you get. I did it a few years ago snd it was great.

You say people call osha and dot and file complaints? That must indicate there are problems there that the management refuses to address. So what do you expect? People ae going to file complaints. It is like driving a car with flat tires. It will get you there but its not safe.

We need to lighten this message board up with the things that are going wrong in everybody's plant. We all know that there is alot of backstabbing among management and supervisors.

We have more big shots that come to Hodgkins so we hear alot of things first.I have been told if anyone does close it would be Davenport,nothing is official yet but we should know by july 6.Schiller is not going to close just yet but I heard they would like to close it,part of the reason is that people keep calling DOT and OSHA and making stupid complaints, these things along with the outdated plant factor into their decisions.

I was just informed that the Thrift stores Jacksonville side of Fla Have been recieving safety gifts. Such as Jackets, Grill sets, watches, gift certifcates,ect.. The Orl. Thrift stores side have recieved NOTHING!! Where is the money alloted for these gifts?? I was told by our superviser that Orl. side doesn't do this! I talked to someone from Jacksonville that said Orl. has been alloted for this, that it sounded like the $ is being pocketed! The inside and relay , garage have recieved these gifts just not the Thrift Stores!! WHY?? If a penny is missing you can get fired or you eat a snack cake without having a reciept , There are 2 $50. gift cert. $199. Leather Jacket, Watch $? ect. Wher did the $$$$ GO? Something is fishy!

To transports, Sounds to me like you have Davis drivers lurking in the night. They would come from Peoria to the Chicago south plant pick up a nice new trailer and bring it back later in the week with worn tires and the spare would be gone and the load bars would be stripped clean off the trailer.

What is the latest going on at Schiller park? Big buget and lots of overtime. Must be making a lot of money. The flagship of all the bakeries.

Ms. Transports comments on the disappearing lock bars, racks, trays, etc..: Long ago my bakery was nice enough to send Schiller Park a whole transport load of cake trays on racks. I had the pleasure of delivering them personally, and after unloading I dropped my empty trailer in the yard and headed for my motel (this was back in the civilized times of IBC day cabs). Next morning I hooked back up to my empty trailer and headed home. Upon arriving back at my bakery I found the lock bars had mysteriously disappeared during that night while safely(?) parked in Schiller's yard. Tires and anything else of value used to disappear off any trailer sent to Chicagoland and Milwaukee bakeries too... so it would be no surprise to hear of lock bars disappearing before a driver even had the time to pull out of Schiller's docks! As for racks and trays: If any bakery seriously wants some, having left IBC's employ I now have weekends off. I'd for proper union scale be most happy to exercise my withdrawal card, load up a roadworthy transport, and haul a load of trays to any bakery within a days's drive. Of course, IBC is pretty short on roadworth transports so they'll have to rent me a tractor and maybe with a new set of tires, brakes, etc. we can make a trailer roadworthy. of course this would all cost money and IBC would probably rather dump bread on the floor...

All millbrooke routes are off the the street you will bump bye seniorty atter the 51% rules palys out. The person that posted this claim is as dumb as they come. Try and understand what will happed. The person that posted this below is a complete idiot. Those of you in So. Cal. dont pay any attention to this. There is NOT A CHANCE IN HELL that of 350 employees cut, that 300 of them will be routes, its more like 100, and thats ALL fo southern calif. There will be MANY areas affected. From transport drivers, to middle management, janitors, office personal, bakers etc etc.... We are terribly shorthanded right now as it is with route drivers... Very few will be let go. The 350 people that will be cut includes about 300 route driver cut after combining the Wonder and Millbrook routes. Closing down the Glendale accounting office will result in another 30 or so being cut. The last few will be from cutting Division Managers in half. Too bad that we'll get rid of some good people and keep the useless and worn out ones around.

To Razz Obviously you haven't visited the graveyard of trucks we have wrapped around the building...lol It might be a different story had somebody actually taken the time to keep the trucks up, but alas, they have not. Matter of fact the only time I can Get something done to the trucks is to go to the shop at night. I don't know what the daytime boys do but it ain't fixing the equipment...(They'd rather put carpet on their personal boats that do a pm I guess) I will give some credit tho...they snatched one of the volvo boys across the street and got him to turn the trucks up to 72 MPH. But all in all, if it wasn't bought in the last two go-rounds...it's an uncomfortable hunk of leaking, spewing, shaking junk.

So these 350 So Cal jobs. What is the bordering ares for these cuts??????

So, we're sending some of our newer trucks to Charlotte and Roanoke VA for "relay operations" and have to keep the raggedy trash that was brought up from Florance. OK, so we are supposed to get more raggedy stuff from Maine or Miami (I don't think the powers that be still have a clue of what they are going to do). They need to scrap EVERYTHING 1999 and older and leaseto cover the slack. God knows the company won't spend any cash to fix anything because they need that money to line upper echelon pockets. To jump on the song band wagon...our trucks "da-don't run run run da-don't run run" (sorry to ya'll who are better at picking tunes!) ...I thought I was the money waster...Tony the Tiger and his band of managerial morons have bested me with spades!!!!

Whats up with all the job postings for other areas in IBC land? I've never seen anything like this in my 15 years. The other thing I noticed is that I make more money in my union position then they want to pay to be a supervisor or other type of manager position? Are they looking for the smartest people to take these jobs or dumbest employees to show their face? You are getting a packer from the jamacia bakery for a supervisor position in pomona. While walking through the Northern California woods an IBC employee came up to Chuck Sulivan hugging a tree with his ear firmly pressed against it.
