Hey-- all of you fools--- get out while you can!! I spent 17 years working for this joke of a company, and just left for a job with lesser pay, but have never been happier. I now work 40 hours a week (not 60-65 or more), and if I happen to work over 8 hours in a day, I am paid overtime. When I worked for IBC (International Bitch Company), I used to read the posts on this site, and just laugh at all the miserable people who constantly whine about how bad their jobs are. Folks, you do have a choice, and yes, believe it or not, there are good-paying Teamster jobs out there which do not require you to work of stupid companies who seen to always take one step forward and two steps back. If you can't read the writing on the wall, this company will eventually sell all the product lines, piecemeal, to the highest bidders. After almost one year of bankruptcy, it is obvious there is no other company in the world stupid enough to buy this mess of an organization. If you miserable people don't give Alvarez what he wants (which is obviously a major cut in pay and benefits across the board), yes, this company will eventually cease to exist as it is now- business is business, and Big Tony is there to do nothing except chop heads and save money, damn the hard-working people who have tried to keep this ship afloat (and I'm not taking about the overpaid, underworked IBC managment who are wholly responsible for this mess. They have paid their dues on their knees for years, and will either keep their jobs, or get "golden parachutes"). I'm talking about all you that put in those long, hard hours for an organization that doesn't care, and definitely doesn't knopw what is going on. Looking back, yes, Baker's Inn is a good product, but is like the Edsel car, the wrong item at the wrong time, and done years too late. With gas at $2.40 a gallon, consumers aren't seeking to pay over $3.50 for a loaf of bread, no matter how good it is. Also, ESL is a waste- the cake product is crap after 8-10 days (especially after sitting on hot trucks during the summer), let alone the 17 day shelf life-- the company needs to get back to selling fresh product (remember the "If it isn't fresh, we're out of business" marketing campaign?)-- it used to be "sell today's cake today", but now, the company motto seems to be "keep it out there until it rots". If IBC doesn't get back to the same basic concepts that built this company, it will soon cease to exist as we know it. Maybe this is what T. Alvarez and his way overpaid "think tank" are striving for. People, jump ship while you can!! There will soon be a day where your good (?) jobs will be gone!! Best of luck........... P.S. Tony Farina sucks ass!!

Just a question... Has IBC ever built a bakery, expanded the sales force? It seems to me they only know how to retreat in defense, closing bakeries to the point that if business took the slightest upturn they couldn't handle it. Do they belong in the SALES business, where growth and expansion are a good thing? For this to ever take place with this company, it starts at the top with COMMUNICATION. IBC upper management is the worst at this basic element of success that I have ever seen in my 30 years in the business.

why did I not get informed when i was in the interview for my job that this might happen. I worked on the other side of the ticket for 11.5yrs. and went to this, being unemployeed bites big time. i was only with ibc for about 5months and all i got was my last check. no letter was sent out to any one in my depot about the layoff just told. so there that is a reason to fight because that is not the right way of business. no info about a severance package was sent. so basically i got f@%@!!! My route was up and customer service was at its prime with no calls to the office or any one. so with that in mind all because of senority i was jacked of a good job but hey who care up the ladder. if any one has any info of what i would be intitled to please let me know. i would be greatfull. thanks for reading and let all know that we could fight because no one got a letter that the layoff would happen until the route managers where notified.

Comment: A word to the helpless employee's at IBC from someone who cares! If you want to hear the truth about your workplace, stop, look and listen several times during the next two weeks. You choose the times and the places! Look to see if you and your co-workers are happy and full of life or do most of them including yourself appear to be depressed and suffering from angst (feelings of dread, anxiety or anguish). Do you hear the birds singing in the morning or see the children at play in the afternoon or do you see the Grim Reaper at work in your lives? Are you feeling exploited by management or informed and treated as a team player should be. Are you ready to face the music today, should IBC close their doors tomorrow? Knowledge and preparation will serve you well. Start today to live your life like it really matters because it really does!

Alvarez doesn't care about "the little people" and he should. The way to turn around a business is to give bonus's and raises to people, not close plants and routes. All that does is makes the bottom line look goos so he can make his bonus. To me, that all ALvarez really cares about any. He's out to make a buck. In this case a million bucks while we lose our jobs. Is that a good ceo? I think not. He's cluless and ruthless. I hope he rots in his SUV or lexus (the many he owns). PAY US NOT YOURSELF! THAT"S THE WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS ALVARAZ IS A COWREAD

Running "his" business is how, and he seems to be doing a pretty good job of it. Don't condemn Alvarez, it's the idiots that were retained for all their so called knowledge of this company. They are the ones that put the company in this predicament. As for not caring about the "little people"... Alvarez is not paid to care. His job is to turn this company around any way he can do it, and he will. And if you're very honest with yourself, you'd do the very same thing.

Together, these two dummies need to be dumped by IBC, ASAP.

At first, he told us his intentions were to grill us in the art of perfection. However, the last time we looked, he was slicing and dicing away at our underbelly. Maybe it's time he trades in his white shirt for a straight-jacket and moves on to his next free meal.

Barq & Coop, Smart&Final is one of our #1 accounts. Having the salesmen fill out a form for the best items carryovers, build ups, sell offs, is creating more paperwork when all this info is on the market conditions we already print out...in case you 2 don't know, we are short S&Final product DAILY!!! We can't fill shelves when we don't get the product. Cut the Bullshit...We can't even begin to evaluate our sales force until you solve the Transportation & Distribution problems. Barq, when was the last time you were on the market? I saw a memo you sent out back when we eliminated most product for Restaurants and raised prices, asking the DMS to send you a list of what eaterys we lost and what they were going to do to get the business back....lets see, we want you to change your menu and pay us more for our products....HELLO..... Guys get a clue to what is happening out in our depots and super markets!!! I know you don't give a shit about the Millbrook side but ask any Wonder RSR and he will echo these MAJOR problems. Good Night Now!!

Comment: Today's news is really going to be welcomed by all IBC route drivers. It seems IBC recently purchased several thousand motor homes and is now having them converted to carry bread. This next "cutting edge" line of IBC bread trucks is scheduled to arrivie in your workplace begining next month. Rather than working sixteen-hour days and returning home for eight hours needlessly, you can now work two consecutive twelve-hour days before needing to return to the bakery for your next load! Naturally, you will be sleeping on your own time but you can still correctly refer to this time as O.T. (your Own Time!). Working for IBC is getting better by the moment. Tell your friends, if you happen to see one on your route! Think of all those house payments you will be saving by working and living out of this IBC motor home/route truck combination vehicle (MHRTCV) and how quiet it will be without a spouse, childern or family pets around. Just you and your IBC telephone, fax and answering machine to keep you warm! One thing more, IBC is now founding several drive thru religion kiosk's so you can now continue to work and observe your respective religion or not (on your lunch time, if you please) at the same time.

Comment: Battleships are the racks used to tray bread on which are then rolled into and out of semi-trailers for delivery purposes. They are rather large, made of steel and hold about sixty dozen loaves of bread. They are very dangerous to handle and have maimed many IBC workers over the last 30 years or more!

Workers get out while you can. The big bosses are getting the bonus and enjoying spending the companys money and living a great life while your future is in question. Find yourself another job before you are thrown out. Leave on your terms not theirs. There are plenty of good jobs out there where you will be treated like a human being and not a robot. Start looking now while you have a choice. Later you will not have a choice. You will be out the door with an empty pocket.

If Sara Lee were to purchase whats left of IBC it would only draw Sara Lee down with IBC. Sara Lee is a quality product and that is the difference. The only reason would be to buy all the bakeries and shut down the competition. Of course it looks like it will all shut down anyway in time as sales profits decline.

I do not have or use a lingo, I use simple english as in "goodbye" or "see you later", etc. No, I do not think the midwest is filled with Hillbillies or Rednecks. FYI, I have family and friends who live in the midwest. I do not work for IBC, I am a freelance computer programmer. Although, I do have a friend who works for this company, but last I heard he was going to jump ship. My user name...well, that is a long story. Why I do I post on this site? Sho nuff Monkey! big Steve one cranky Mo Fo as some folks call him. Osha needs to be here when someone needs a drink and has to wait for a super. It ain't right , 20 hour days ain't right, the countries not right. What can we tell them that is more horrible than what Christians have already accepted without question -- lies, treason, deceit, abuse and torture, body parts of innocents littering the landscape, the slaughter of their own children, and freedom ebbing away? If we tell them what the Great Deceiver and his Christian Reconstructionist God have in store for them, will they continue to stare at us vacantly while waving their flags? Or, when they see that our foreheads do not proclaim the patriotic "9-11," will they skitter fearfully into the shadows? We have a choice. We can either take our places in line at the tattoo parlor or we can grab a taser in each hand and start walking cross-country, kicking doors down and jolting folks awake. It may already be too late, but before this vast herd of comatose sheep goes plodding blindly over the edge of the cliff; before they pull the rest of us into the morass with them, we have earned the right to see one last collective shock of recognition -- a final terrified realization that they know the good times are over -- really over for good. And they will know, at long last, it didn't have to be this way. Just about had it in Tulsa

Holsum forensic report. Founded in 1912 its current building was build by 1983. IBC bought it by 1994. The plant has six cyl. flour silos 40 ft tall by 15 ft diam plus two smaller for liquid sugar. Has three production lines. "A" for loaf incluying raisin bread. "B" and "C" make rolls. "A" line had two 12 hr shift, "B" had one 12 hr shift and "C" had two 12 hr shift. "A" line has several brew blenders tanks with its pumps, mixers (two), dough pump/cutter, molders-panner (two), proofer, lid-on, oven, lid-out, depanner, pan staker, cooler, slicers (five), baggers (five). The A diverter cut 80-100 loaf by minute. B line has its mixer, dough pump, Model K cutter-rounder, Molder panner, proofer, seeder, oven, depanner, pan stacker pan unstacker, cooler and UBE pack bagger for six or twelve buns. The "B" mod K cut and round 320 rolls by minute. "C" line has mixer, KRX cutting and rounder (two), moulder-panner (two), proofer, seeder, oven, depanner, pan stacker, pan unstacker, cooler, bulk packer for 24 buns pk, UBE packer for six or twelve buns pk (two). Both KRX cut and rounding 640 buns by minute. B and C share same brew room. All of the three lines are conduct or conveyor conected from flour silos to packing room. Two dozen guys run managment. Two dozen plus guys run "A" line production. One dozen run "B" line production. Two dozen plus guys run "C" line production. One dozen plus guys run shipping. Two dozen guys run plant maintenance. One dozen plus do sanitation job. Two dozen are clerk. One dozen guys run the vehicle garage. Benefits paid by the company for employees unionized or not was Vista Health Insurance or National Employees Health Plan (one to choice incluying dental and covering employee and family) , Retirement Pension Plan, paid 6 holydays a year, birthday, vacations, six sick days a year, and Uniform. Managment had 401K. Decentralization isolated Holsum and created illness that kill it. 1- The mail box in the wall accepting sugest was removed. IBC stayed blind and deaf. 2- Payroll got not original but edited punch time report from each dept (sometimes adultered). 3- The global tend hi level boss working from home hit Holsum hurting morale of others. 4- Due Union help employee who did mistake and IBC fire boss who did, some boss covered themself recruiting informant/bodyguard among employee paid for IBC but in private interest. This guys didnt work and enjoyed hight pay rate, lot of overtime, funeral days, nice schedule, etc. their only due was protect his boss. 5- Lots of breakdown involved worn out parts that were not replaced on downdays. 6- Unqualified guys were hired in key positions. 7- "C" line oven loader-unloader clutch was wrongly installed in 1983 needing call mechanics every time any over load ocurred wasting lots of burned bread. Never was fixed. 8- Unnecessary expensive projects were done without consensus: The pan grouper before "C" seeder, the "C" pan return diverter, the two lines junction to "C" proofer. Expensive AC inverters and computarized finger touch screen switches replaced reliables and cheap switches and contactors. 9- Truck drivers didnt care, they leave trucks blocking rail road. 10- Only during inspections hi level bosses "walk" the plant (flashlight on hand looking for insect). . It would help us big time if you had Bob the computer guy put it so that after we hit yes to lunch the timer automatically stops at thirty minutes the screen could read ?You have taken your thirty minute lunch do you wish to continue? Yes or No. This will give us a greater opportunity to abide by the rules. If you cant figure out how this will work you are probably in upper management.

Everything that has happened to IBC since " Bankruptcy "most likely will make it better as far as the bottom line is concerned but it won't make it viable for the long term unless upper mgt' does something to train lower mgt' how to gain the trust of the people who work for them. To make IBC a great workplace you have to build trust. Trust is one employee retention strategy that works for all organizations. Managers should be trained in the skills of engaging and retaining employees. Until this is done everything the company is doing now will not make it last for the long run.

Comment: In case you missed it, Hoffa has been "live" and in the news lately talking it up about how the AFL-CIO and their top taskmaster Sweeny, has dropped the "club" when it comes to increasing union membership roles in America. Hoffa indeed, wants Sweeny's job so bad (even more money and "absolute" power), he can taste it and he is trying to make us (America's Workforce) swallow it, in order to make it happen. He completely forgot to mention the fact that his union the Teamsters, elected in 1989 to not undergo a federal Rico-based lawsuit (which they knew they would lose in New York!). Instead, they elected to subject their entire organization to a federal oversight committee known as the Independent Review Board and to pay for it's oversight functions with millions of Teamster dues paying dollars! Hoffa listed several other "dissident labor unions within the AFL-CIO who were joining him in this fight or flight situation. The names he announced sounded more like America's Top Ten list of organized crime rather than a list of organized labor. Maybe that's the real reason for the drop in their membership roles!

California who only speaks english too. Sure, So. California is a multi-cultured state, but it is not the only state that is multi-cultured. Not everyone has a need to be around people who act the same, look the same, talk the same or like to do the same thing. There is nothing wrong with diversity...I think that is what makes America "America" (IMO). Anyway, what I am trying to say is; just because a certain dumba$$ from So. DID YOU GET THAT? by the way, given the fact that you're from mexi-err, southern cal, i'd say you are either a crip, a blood or a wetback. take the frozen twinkie and stop up the hole in your head so no more air gets out. it's all you have in there...

Human resources is to hire and screen people but they do not know if its day or night. They have poor job skills and rely on the supervisors and management in the bakery in which the job pertains to. However most of the people are related or friends to someone in management so these dummies get hired. That is why you have a bunch of uneducated people making big money and knowing very little. There are only a handful of knowledgeable people there that holds up the rest and the running of the bakery. Anyone with a brain and education will not accept a position here as you will have to lead an abnormal lifestyle and forget about your family life. Thats the facts of the matter.

These Raindrops keep falling on my head They keep fallin' So I just did me some talkin' to the sun And I said I didn't like the way he got things Done, sleep in' on the job, these Raindrops keep falling on my head They keep fallin' But there's one thing I know, the blues they send to meet me Won't defeat me, won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me Raindrops keep falling on my head But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning Red, crying's not for me, 'cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin' Because I'm free, nothing's worryin' me.   Comment: The latest round of news about the AFL-CIO in-house fighting has more to do with uneducated leaders of labor who spent more time screwing the working class than fixing what was wrong with their particular labor union and how they did business in America. What you see in today's news about them is really nothing but a pack of wild dogs fighting over a food shortage (less than 10% of today's workforce remain unionized) with no end in sight. Labor Unions today own and operate themselves along the same lines as Big Business. Their officers live large on the public rolls and at their expense. When it comes time to put up or shut up, they disappear behind closed doors and their staff of legal eagles. Wal-Mart is a shining example of a thorn both in their sides and pocket books. Their offers to organize Wal-Mart workers for the sake of controlling their labor force and shielding the employer from lawsuits won't buy them a ticket here. Wal-Mart operates their business the old fashioned way. You care about your customers needs and wants and you look them in the eye when addressing them.

Comment: By Alonso Soto and Susan Kelly CHICAGO (Reuters) - Four dissident labor unions said on Sunday they will boycott a convention marking the 50th anniversary of the AFL-CIO, the largest U.S. union coalition, and could splinter from the group entirely in a dispute over organized labor's future direction. Leaders of the Teamsters, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Service Employees International Union and UNITE HERE, which represents textile and hotel employees, said discussions were underway that could lead to decisions as early as Monday on whether they will secede. The AFL-CIO, which represents nearly 13 million workers, opens its convention in Chicago on Monday. The dissident group has divided with the AFL-CIO over how the coalition should go forward in the face of steadily declining membership. It wants to emphasize recruitment of new members and make structural changes, and has criticized what it calls a misplaced emphasis on electoral politics. "We are not trying to divide the labor movement. We are trying to rebuild it," Andrew Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union, told a news conference. In the decade AFL-CIO President John Sweeney has led the coalition, union membership fell from 15.5 percent of the work force to 12.5 percent. In 1983, before a nationwide decline in heavy manufacturing and export of work to other countries, that figure was slightly over 20 percent. Sweeney, 71, faces re-election at the upcoming convention and is unopposed so far in his bid for a third term. DIFFERENT STRATEGIES The AFL-CIO leadership has said unions need to escalate organizing efforts across the board and propose a $25 million grant fund for that purpose. It also said there are more similarities than differences in the counterproposals being made by the dissident member unions. Sweeney said on Sunday union members must stand together. "Not to attend the convention, especially when the differences that remain between our proposals are so narrow, is an insult to their union brothers and sisters and to all working people," he said in a statement. The dissident unions along with three others -- The Laborers' International Union of North America, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and United Farm Workers -- have formed the Change to Win Coalition. The seven dissidents represent about one-third of the total AFL-CIO membership. The 300,000-member Carpenters and Joiners broke away from the AFL-CIO four years ago. The renegade group already has plans to hold its own "founding convention" in the fall. The group wants more money spent to recruit nonunion workers and new rules that would hold unions to certain performance standards. Those that fell short of recruiting goals could be encouraged to merge with others, a plan critics say could force involuntary mergers. The dissidents also want a change in the AFL-CIO constitution they say would make voting at the convention more representative and democratic, and want unions that spend more on organizing to get rebates from payments to the AFL-CIO. Teamsters Union President James Hoffa said last month that the AFL-CIO simply wants to "throw more money at politics" instead of organizing. Sweeney led the AFL-CIO in backing Democratic Sen. John Kerry's unsuccessful 2004 bid for the presidency.

Should a partial withdrawal be found to have occurred, the amount of any partial withdrawal liability arising from the underfunded multi-employer pension plans to which IBC contributes, while less than the Company's share of the total underfunding for these plans, would likely be material and could adversely affect our financial condition and, as a general unsecured claim, any potential recovery to our constituencies.

Tis story says something about the shape of the pensions................ IBC currently contributes to over 40 multi-employer pension plans as required under various collective bargaining agreements. Many of these plans are underfunded in that their liabilities exceed their assets. The portion of a plan's underfunding allocable to an employer deemed to be totally or partially withdrawing from the plan as the result of downsizing, job transfers or otherwise is referred to as "withdrawal liability." To give an example of the size of the underfunding in IBC's pension plans, if IBC is deemed to have completely withdrawn from the two multi-employer pension plans with the largest underfunding, Bakery & Confectionary Union & Industry International Pension Fund and Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Plan, the total withdrawal liability (which would be an unsecured claim in the bankruptcy case) is alleged by such plans to be approximately $530 million, in the aggregate. IBC does not believe a total withdrawal has occurred, and based on the facts presently known, does not believe that a total withdrawal will occur in the future. Certain of the plans have filed proofs of claim alleging that partial withdrawals have already occurred. In addition, there is a risk that the consolidation announced today could significantly increase the amount of the liability to IBC should a partial withdrawal from the multi-employer pension plans be found to have occurred. However, IBC is conducting the Florida PC consolidation in a manner that it believes will not constitute a total or partial withdrawal from the relevant multi-employer pension plans. Additionally, IBC disputes the withdrawal liability claims filed in the bankruptcy case. Nevertheless, due to the complex nature of such a determination, no assurance can be given that withdrawal claims based upon IBC's prior actions or resulting from this consolidation or future consolidations will not result in significant liabilities for IBC. Should a partial withdrawal be found to

Well, 2 weeks have gone by into the new reconstuction of routes here in Jax. The bakery ordered for the routes the first week. (you can imagin how that worked out) The second week was much better, with us routesalesman able to order our own orders. I got put on the route (Alone) I bid on but never saw a single stop before that first day.. 14 hours later I went home. That first week was hell because most of the route was formerly run by a employee that quit the previous Sat. STALE, EMPTY TRAYS etc. Week 2 was much better, although, the routes had a target of 7 to 8K a week in net sales. As we all supected those numbers were inflated by quit a bit. I looks like my route will go about 6K but takes 3 hours longer to run than my previous 16 year route. also about $6K. wk. So, as far as I can see, we lost many routes and emploees ,but the loss in $$$ were also very high, from the stops that were lost. It's kinda weird that a company that now depends so much on it's daily cash flow, chose to dump most of it's Mom & Pop Cash stops. but kept a lot of the stops that get big discounts. But we'll see how it pans out. The moral is very low in the depot. Guy stalking about looking for other jobs. One positive thing, is the stock price. For whatever reason it's up almost 33% in the last month.

Comment: I have a concern. I shopped at the Schnucks store located 3430 South Grand in Saint Louis, Missouri. The date was July 21, 2005. One of the items that I purchased was a package of Hostess Cup Cakes Multipack supposedly containing 8 Hostess Cup Cakes. To my surprise, the package contained 7 cup cakes. I don't want this to be a big deal . I just wanted to let your company know just in case this shortage would happen again. Thank you for your time.

We have had to go to Little Debbie's to get our children snack treats because they don't use yellow #5 in most of their products. Is there any way that you could use another yellow dye so that our children could enjoy your products.

Comment: I bought a box of Hostess donettes yesterday and when I opened them they were as hard as rocks. When I broke one in half it actually snapped. The freshness date is July 29 and the final sale date is Aug 2. The statement on the bottom of the box states that you value the customer's opinion and that quality is guaranteed.

Comment: To the person looking for Rick Causey, Rick left Florence in Jan 2000 to go to Birmingham Ala to become the Gen sales mgr, he left there and went to Orlando Plant and worked a short time, He quit and went to work for Flowers as acc rep , wal mart stores. I talked to him on sun 7-10 .05, he still lives in the Birm area. I hate to say it but he did the smart thing, looks like we are riding a sinking ship, after 38 yrs I might not make it to retirement in 2.5 yrs with the kind of leadership we have today., pulling too many to many routes, over loading them, it will be almost impossible to work some of these routes, one rt in particular it took the DSM over 5 hrs just to drive around a rt in his car,6 Gro stores and and about 25 other small stores, there many other routes like that but that is what upper mgmt wants, to hell with the poor rt man, the rt man , most important part of this operation, but who the hell cares.

IBC is the most unorganized ,miss managed company I have ever seen. They ,meaning the idiots whom have been tasked to save us , are actualy destroying what was left of many good regional brands , IBC was suposed to be a good thing for Nissen Baking co. It turns out it was the worst thing . We have had absoutely no consistancy in the seven years these idiots have owned us ,and that is only getting worse . Instead of making concessions to these thugs ,I say let this ship sink Now ... and maybe someone with some people skills will pick up the peices , Mr . Alveraz, please get to hell out of this industry as you are an idiot .

This is to the person from DENVER CO. for your information most of the employees that post on this site do so because they care about the company and their jobs, this is the only place we can be heard as a group.when you as a worker, have to sit back and watch corperate idiots run the company into the ground what would you expect to be reading on this site? As a route salesman I work hard every day and try to make as much sales as i can,if you dont think my job is hard you are welcome to come to sunny florida and ride with me I bet it would be a vacation you will never take again. then you get slammed with product that is short coded,or you cant get what you ordered a week in advance. or when you get routes cut in your depot and everything is a cluster "f" ,then all your customers are griping because you are "late" they dont understand that you have 15 more stops than you used to have. WHEN THE COMPANY STARTS MAKING DECISIONS THAT MAKE SENSE THEN YOU MIGHT SEE THE POST ON THIS BOARD DECREASE. you whoever you are in CO, it is clear that you know nothing about business. people posting on this site have no effect on this companys earnings.the employees only do their jobs, corperate makes the decisions that control those jobs.that is why we complain when we KNOW THAT THE DECISION THAT WAS MADE WILL EFFECT OUR PAY AND THE COMPANY IN A NEGITIVE WAY. which by the way happens alot.

No Time to Do It Right Although the tangible costs of employee stress are staggering, it is probably the less definable costs which are most serious. Perhaps the biggest and most unrecognized loss of all is the sense of not having the time to do it right. It's difficult to measure "what might have been" in terms of lost opportunity and unrealized potential. But the price is still there. Stress costs organizations dearly in terms of decreased quality and productivity. Says Jack Quirk, training and development director for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maine: The major price a company pays for stress in the workplace, along with the human price, is that their ability to make process improvements nearly always stops. With overwhelming workloads, you have people going so fast, they don't have the time to make the process better. It creates a terrible cycle of trying to work harder and harder because the volume you have to put out is increasing, but you aren't doing anything to make the process more effective and efficient. I hope someone reads these posts i.e. COOPER, CRAMER, LOPEZ, ELLER. LUMPY, LUCY, ETHEL, FRED, RICKY.

Grievances Frequent grievances are both a legitimate warning sign that organizational problems exist and a less extreme way of expressing powerlessness, which in itself indicates organizational problems. Robert Rosen writes about the connection between organizational climate, employee stress, and grievances in The Healthy Company. Rosen tells the story of a Safeway bakery manager whose department averaged 75 to 80 grievances a year. By honestly addressing his managerial style and cultivating a very different workplace environment, he saw grievances drop to just one in a five-year period. The effect of a grievance goes far beyond the employee and his or her supervisor. On average, every filed grievance translates into approximately 80 hours of lost productivity by the worker filing the complaint and by co-workers due to morale problems, according to an article published in the Personnel Journal. Turnover Forty percent of employee turnover is related to stress, according to a study by the Bureau of National Affairs. When companies consider the cost of lost productivity and of recruiting and training new employees, stress-induced turnover is a very expensive problem. In the previous example of the Safeway bakery manager, his efforts at creating a more worker-friendly atmosphere translated into a turnover decrease from as high as 100 percent in some positions to a department average of 10 percent

TO: The Doc stress kills workers espeacially when they have to drive from Mesquite,NV................... Absenteeism Stressed-out employees are more likely to miss work both as a coping mechanism and due to health-related problems. A recent study published in the American Journal of Health Promotion found that workers experiencing high stress were over two times more likely to be absent more than five times per year. Lost productivity and replacement costs make absenteeism a costly consequence.

Comment: Posted on Wed, Jul. 20, 2005 Markets advance, but profit-taking hurts IBC By RICK BABSON The Kansas City Star Just as they did on Monday, shares of Interstate Bakeries Corp. made a big move opposite of the rest of the market. On Tuesday, however, profit-taking took shares of the Kansas City baker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread down, while the major indexes rebounded to gains on several strong earnings reports. A four-day run that took IBC shares up to more than $10 a share for the first time since the company sought bankruptcy protection on Sept. 22, 2004, apparently was too much for investors to resist. Shares dropped 70 cents, or 7.14 percent, to $9.10. Over-the-counter trading was heavy at more than 1.5 million shares, more than 3.5 times the three-month daily average of 431,195 shares.

Comment: IBC stock continues rise as major indexes decline By RICK BABSON The Kansas City Star Interstate Bakeries Corp. remained on an upswing Monday while stock indexes sagged on a disappointing earnings report from Citigroup Inc. The weaker-than-expected report from the world?s largest financial institution helped send stocks down early. Although a drop in crude oil prices helped lessen the losses, the downward movement gained momentum into the close. Oil prices fell after OPEC lowered its 2005 forecast for global demand based on reduced consumption in China and slowing economic growth in other Asian countries. Light sweet crude for August delivery fell 77 cents and settled at $57.32 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 65.84 points, or 0.62 percent, and closed at 10,574.99. The Nasdaq composite index fell 11.91 points, or 0.55 percent, and closed at 2,144.87. The Standard & Poor?s 500 index fell 6.79 points, or 0.55 percent, and closed at 1,211.13. Shares of Kansas City-based IBC spent the session moving against the flow before tiring in afternoon trading. After gaining about 33 percent in the final three sessions of last week, Interstate shares tacked on almost 10 percent today in heavy trading. Shares of the baking company, which is in Chapter 11, gained 70 cents, or 7.69 percent, and closed at $9.80. When shares reached $10.10 just before midday, they traded in double digits for the first time since July 30, 2004. Shares last closed at $10 or more on July 27, 2004. Although message boards have speculated that Interstate may be in play, the company has declined to comment on trading activity or stock prices. I wonder why the company declined to comment about the trade activity or stock prices? I would assume the company would have something to say.

I have been reading all of the postings for some time and have come to one conclusion. If the employees that post here are indicative of the mindset of the whole employee population, there is no chance for IBC. I can only hope that the other hard working employees are spending their free time trying to figure out how to move this company ahead and improve their paychecks in the process. Do you trash talking employees realize that this site is visited by customers and those that influence stock prices. These are the folks that buy our product and can move the stock higher or lower. If retailer buyers are concerned about the health of a company, they will elect to bring on competition and cut your space down. Higher stock prices mean banks are more likely to lend money, this in turn would mean more investing in the business and some of you might keep the jobs you are so willing to bitch about. There is a plan to turn this business around and with or without you it will happen.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050718/NYM172-a http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050718/NYM172-b ) White Bread Fans 100% Whole Grain, which provides a good source of fiber, calcium and 9 vitamins and minerals, will debut in July at retailers in six U.S. markets: San Francisco, Sacramento, Kansas City, Omaha, Memphis and Little Rock. While white bread remains by far the largest segment of the bread category, 8 out of ten white bread consumers are interested in bread that has real whole grain nutrition, but the taste of white bread, according to research conducted by Harman Atchison Research. "As more and more consumers look to incorporate healthy choices, including 100% real whole grain, into their families' diets, they're encountering a roadblock when it comes to bread: most kids don't like wheat bread," said Jacques Roizen, chief marketing officer of Interstate Bakeries Corp. Not only will moms feel good about serving their families healthy and nutritious food, everyone in the household will be able to enjoy the same bread." In its March 2005 New Product Pacesetters 2004 study, IRI noted the consumer trend toward healthier choices, saying it sees "significant growth potential among foods and beverages offering whole grains, natural and organic ingredients, and fortification with select vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and soy as consumers seek improved health and vitality." How much do hamburgers really cost today! Their signs indicate 99 cents each. Then please explain to me why someone with the ability to pay $500,000.00 in bail would bother with fast food and drive thru service. As for the new racey Mc Donald's uniforms, will it put an end to the drive thru's for the perverts in life or what? Maybe IBC can find something in this post for them to use to "pump up" their line of products and "bottom end." Your welcome!

And then people post things such as bye, bye Davenport, then more rumors fly. And they, whoever they are, don't have a clue, just like the rest of us! wishing all the rumors would stop and truth be known. If its going to happen, then for god sakes tell us now. Quit playing all the mind games Tony, and bring it on chicken shit. We all know all your waiting for is that BIG ASS bonus your going to get when you get thru getting rid of all of us, its no secret! So get it over so you can move on to some other poor company with your so called HELP.

But I digress here, I too would be interested in doing the nasty with you, I am also thirty three and have the same measurements as Boom Boom (in the opposite order) and although no one has ever called me a beauty , there was this drunk guy I picked up once that said I didn?t look half bad when he looked at me with his good eye. I have often been told I have a pretty face for a big girl, and that I have a nice personality. I was also recently dumped by a Panamanian jockey that said he preferred riding a horse instead of riding me, that man had more than issues, he had a whole subscription. Let me know in advance when you will be stopping by, as I only spend a few hours a day , a couple of days a week at the plant, unless there is free lunch , a pot luck, or something else to look forward to.

Hey DENNIBBBB in Jamaica-maan. Add up all the shit stops IBC pulls out of and all the products they eliminate and no WONDER they are Chapter 11 Product and route restructuring is being done after chapter 11. No wonder Biddeford is so fucked up with people like you there. I have 4 stops that do a total of 13 dollars a week. I think that is profitable. How many of th e 400+ routes in ny nj pa have stops like this. all of them. 1600 stops that waste nothing but time and fuel. Keep the shit stops and close Biddeford AKA the white elephant

Dear Boom Boom, I am very flattered by your interest. I am always interested in getting to know any and all members of our IBC family. Unfortunately, you, like all the rest of your IBC siblings, may be subject to some minor job "modifications", up to and including temporary and/or permanent loss of employment status. I sincerely hope that these timely and necessary steps toward financial solvency will not be taken personally by you or any of the other hard working employees throughout this fine, but temporarily under-achieving, company of ours. I am truly looking forward to meeting you Boom Boom. I hope to do so soon, within the remaining framework of your current employment with IBC. Sincerely, Tony "The Tiger"

Comment: Well if you people would have listened to me weeks ago when i said to buy, buy, buy you would have made lots of profit. I predict it is not too late that another surge and rally will take place. I estimate somewhere around $15.00 by next week. Get it while it is low in cost.

Unions were formed, and continue to be necessary, because of mismanaged, unethical, unprofessional companies like IBC. If we are this bad off with the unions, I can't imagine how we would be treated without them!

Comment: I feel very guilty about this whole bankruptcy thing. From reading some of the posts on this site, I now realize that the company's financial problems are because of myself and my other overpaid union brothers. Shame on us! Last year I made $45,000! The worst part of this is that I only worked an average of 60 hours per week to earn it! Figure it out. I made over $14/hr. this last year!!! I feel like a thief. The executive salaries pale in comparison to my lofty wage. Is there any procedure set up to help me give some of this undeserved money back to IBC? I am sure that other, more financially stable companies, do not pay anywhere near this type of wage. Shame on me! Shame on all of us!!!!

I interviewed with IBC at Grandview MO. The mans name was Harold Johnson. He told me I would make 35,000 - 50,000 a year. I would probably be in by 12 noon. I was leaving from interview at 1230 only 1 truck was in. I passed all tests but then they never contacted me. since that time I have been reading this website. Seems to me they have a lot of hard working people that they dont treat very well. Just wanted to say I wanted to be one of you but he was going to fire 2 guys that were not working. I did not want to get on that way. Also all of the offices were empty except for his, by the way he forgot he had an appointment with me and I sat 1 hour. He told me big changes were coming in july. I was worried I would be at the bottom of senority and get laid off but he said no way. Nothing seems to add up. I guess im just venting I was driving 200 miles for interview, physical, Then he left me hanging. For the rest of you keep up the good work under hard times. signed mark former route salesman.
