Comment: Print Window Close Window Flowers Foods Suffers Damage From Hurricane Katrina THOMASVILLE, Ga., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Flowers Foods (NYSE: FLO) officials are assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. The company's New Orleans bakery remains closed, but bakeries in Baton Rouge and Lafayette are in full operation, as are all other Flowers bakeries. With the loss of production capacity in New Orleans, the company is temporarily re- opening a closed bakery in Houston to assist in serving the Louisiana, Mississippi, and southwest Alabama market. The company serves the central Gulf Coast region daily with fresh breads and rolls through a network of 24 warehouses, 10 of which are unable to operate due to the storm. "Our heartfelt concern goes out to all individuals who have suffered losses, some of whom are our employees, distributors, and associates," said George E. Deese, president and chief executive officer of Flowers Foods. "With much of New Orleans under water, authorities are allowing only emergency services into the city. Some of our service area along the central Gulf Coast suffered severe damage from the storm and is inaccessible at present. We don't know when we will be able to fully assess the damage to our business through the region or the overall financial impact on Flowers Foods' quarterly or annual results." The company has insurance coverage for physical property as well as for business interruption. However, at present, the company cannot estimate the scope of damage or the timing of recovering the costs of the property damage and business interruption caused by the storm. Flowers Baking Company of New Orleans operated one bread line in a building that dates from 1969. Flowers Foods is uncertain of when the bakery and warehouses in the region will re-open because of anticipated water damage and a long delay before utility services are restored. In addition to the damaged warehouses, some independent distributors of the company's product have business interruptions, at least for the immediate future, due to the storm damage and the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. "We will continue to serve the market, but we anticipate the cost of doing so will be extremely high. Although much of the marketplace currently is displaced, we are providing service to all areas that are accessible, with product being delivered from our Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and other bakeries," Deese continued. Deese further explained, "Our reciprocal baking program, composed of Flowers bakeries within the region, already produced much of the products sold in New Orleans and the surrounding area. There will be costs associated with re-opening the closed bakery in Houston as well as extra shipping and handling costs to transport the product to the Louisiana market. However, this temporary solution will allow us to continue service to the territories in Louisiana, Mississippi, and southwest Alabama to which we can gain access." The company's Miami bakery suffered no damage when Hurricane Katrina crossed South Florida late last week and there was no disruption to the company's ability to serve the market. Other Flowers bakeries in the storm's path also escaped damage and continue in full operation. Headquartered in Thomasville, Ga., Flowers Foods is one of the nation's leading producers and marketers of packaged bakery foods for retail and foodservice customers. Flowers operates 34 bakeries that produce a wide range of bakery products marketed throughout the Southeastern, Southwestern, and mid-Atlantic states via an extensive direct-store-delivery network and nationwide through other delivery systems. Among the company's top brands are Nature's Own, Cobblestone Mill, Sunbeam, BlueBird, and Mrs. Freshley's. For more information, visit www.flowersfoods.com. Razz - To be a successful comedian one needs two things: 1. An actual sense of humor (obviously a problem in your case). 2. Timing. This is not a good time for your self-serving bullshit as many people in this company have lost their jobs and more are about to. These people have real concerns about their futures and the futures of their families. You are not cheering them up. You are pissing them off. And please don't come back with that "Hey people lighten up" shit. And yes I am aware we have freedom of speech in this country so don't give me that one either. Also no need to tell me to get a life as I have a rather fine one. Let's just be a little sensitive to the news out of Davenport for a while, then you can go back to being a jackass.

Hey, tough luck Davenport. So far Billings is the only plant where Mike Connell has been and hasn't been closed and we are still worried. The question is whether Mike is just a company hatchet man or a bumbling , hot tempered food. Here in Billings the betting is on all of the above.

Sara Lee, reported to be the dominant gunslinger from the West, shot IBC's, Iowa Profit Center in the chest several times before their management went down for the count! Our reports continue to indicate, she has reloaded her weapon of choice and is headed for Kansas City, planning to finish them off for good in their so called deadbeat-heartbeat headquarters. our prices were wrong in the hand helds AGAIN. why not make everything the same price ,no sale items instead of changing prices every 2 or 3 weeks, then wait 4-5 days for the bakery to get it right. how much money is lost here. the big boys could get bigger bonus checks.

Comment: It seems people in IBC's Corporate offices in Kansas City have come down with several reported cases of Mad Cow Disease. Some medical experts we spoke with today say this is the direct result of living too long in a town where cattle drives drove their town's economy at the expense of their citizen's good health.

Mr. Dan Angst & Jerry Kemp With never having the opportunity to openly communicate with either of you and with rumors of management cuts and overall employee reduction I am writing this letter to communicate other areas of concerns that would make our company much more efficient. 1. Product from the bakeries. a. Products are ordered one week in advance yet orders are not received properly. b. Products dated to go out of code on a Sunday or Monday. These are two days our hostess route drivers are off we in essence lose three days of sales on these products. c. Warehouse rotation is extremely poor. Products received are consistently older then products already out on store shelves. d. Product routinely shipped with less then 2 weeks to sell. 2. Route Sales a. Supplies not readily available to route personnel. b. Division sales managers not consistently available due to continually being on routes. c. Plus shipped items not communicated to sales personnel. d. No incentives to increase sales, work safer or be more efficient. e. All route sales personnel should have some annual or biannual training. f. Fuel cards not available to new personnel upon completion of training. g. Initial training should be done complete with some type of classroom training instead of 4 hours of only paperwork. We should have a complete outlined training packet for every position in our company. g. Cake products should not be sent on bread trays. Our trucks are designed to stack product. You can't stack products shipped on bread trays. h. Product quality drastically reduced in summer because of heat and winter due to cold. i. We do no demos, very little couponing and very little other promotions. The new commercial i saw was great. When we do things like the wonka cakes we should include some kind of contest. j. Pricing in our hand held units is wrong daily. k. Deal sheets should include prices, correct ad dates etc. 3. Other a. More communication between all management personnel. b. More training for all management personnel.(time management, customer service, sales etc._ c. Buy each branch a computer. A fax machine is not practical. Computers could be used instead of making a phone call, could be used to do a muffin order, order supplies, racks and they could all be then delivered on our next nights truck. d. Overall communication in our company is poor. e. IBC does not pay their bills in a timely manner. f. Overall upkeep of our facilities is poor. g. Fleet maintenance is poor and not complete. h. We are required to get a money order for each route each day. This costs the company alot of money. Route sales personnel should give the money to the thrift store. We would also save money on bank fees this way. i. Reimburse your employees for our personal cell phones. j. Direct Deposit k. Tuition Reimbursement l Moderization of equipment. m. New accounts are not processed in a timely manner. n. Phone calls to Schiller Park are not returned in a timely manner if at all. o, Our hiring process is too long. p. Every employee is not treated equally. I realize that i may be looked upon differntly after this letter but as a dedicated employee i feel it is important to pass on the concerns of my employees and those that i too may have. I know displays and products are important in growing our company, but employee moral is low and happy employees make a stronger company. I am concerned for my future with this company and for the future of our company. I would gladly discuss this with anyone interested in communicating with me.

Comment: The varied struggles on earth for humans are real folks! Some of us are dying due to famine, while others die from glut. We don't have absolute control over our world or universe. We find ourselves subject to them and objects of elements like Mother Nature and Father Time! What we do have control over is ourselves and how we choose to act. We are and will always remain to be creatures born of free will. And it is this subject, the human ability of free will, that brings us together today. There is a battle going on in America almost every day. And, at any given time, one will find themselves to be either the subject or the outcome. Many of us donate our very lives to these battles. After all, America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, is it not? Today, just keeping America free and the home court for the brave available, is a full time job for each of us! And, having jobs in America which pay all employees decent wages is just as important. It's really a trajedy built upon traitorship in America when it comes to their labor unions. How one human can seek to enslave another by manipulation and crime is beyond my comprehension. Thank's to America's system of free enterprise, I found recently at least maybe one, labor union (Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Assn.) that stands for their members and what's good for America and not themselves or their hierarchy! What's wrong with America's airlines that they can't balance the books when it comes to doing business in America? Our government hands out billions of tax dollars to them daily and they still need more. Now they are attempting to choke millons of dollars out of their labor force for what? Why does it take American Labor to earn $70,000 a year before they can truly say, they are living in America and earning a decent wage? One that brings with it home ownership, a car and medical/retirement care! Is it the customary greed, graft and corruption business as usual or is it really subject to the application of free enterprise and free willed people. American Labor needs to find themselves organizations which are not built upon corruption and crime. Otherwise, they are destined to be nothing but slave labor living one big lie after another. You can start today with supporting the Aircrafts Mechanics Fraternal Assn. fight to keep decent wages in America! The Teamsters and other AFL-CIO supported unions hate this group of labor because they absolutely refuse to roll over and play dead for anyone! Having and allowing it's citizens to express their given rights of free will together with their country's given right of free enterprise will decide what's right for America! Thank you!

Norm happens to be the middleman between corporate yahoos and the yahoos at the bottom who greatly contribute to the descension and conniving that's taking place at IBC Sacramento.   Comment: I can understand the workers' complaints with IBC. I used to work in a call center that was highly technical and they just keep raising the bar until almost no one could do it. The best people left and top management compensation packages are obscene. An upper management person was fined for kickbacks finally after the corporate offices in New Jersey were raided two years ago for this. The information given the employees was uninformative. Of course there will never be a union in that company. It is time that we wrote our U.S. congressmen and vote like we know what is going on with the so-called "worker efficiency" statistics. Is life supposed to be this way?

Sara Lee Food Group will be getting the snack cakes that they never had. Rainbo snack cakes Suck. Actually, this would work out great for both sides. Sara Lee has distributorships starting already in several different regions. They have an excellent bread line. All they need is snack cake to compliment their bread. They have the resources , and can be very agressive on the market. "Touchdown Tony ", throw that pass. Why do you think the combo rts. stopped?????? Hmmmmmmmmm it makes me Wonder . It's fun watching Alvarez attempting to make new friends with the Teamsters Union while frantically getting rid of his old ones! The aforementioned people ran the company into the ground. CBC management had nothing to do with it. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!! Put the blame were it belongs. IBC was given CBC by Ralston. Ralston sucked us dry and then IBC had too big a company and didn't know what to do with it. The Hostess label, destroyed the D.M. label w/o any effort whatsoever.

I'm not trying to figure out your annual earnings like that other guy, but I am still looking for more info on your new contract. Would you mind telling us what your base pay was before and after the new deal? Also, what sort of commision percentage do you make? Do you get overtime? If so, how much and after how many hours? Do you know how much per hour that the company contributes to your pension? I know IBC will be trying to negotiate our contract eventually, and I am trying to get as much info as possible. Our contract is just being extended every three months right now. We are currently at a $350 base with 9.5% commission. No overtime. I'm guessing that our route average is only about 5,000-5,500. It sounds like your route average must be quite a bit higher. Any info is appreciated. Thanks! you are being screwed. in this area our route avereage is 5000, our base is 412.00/wk. and our percentage is 8% on premium, 7.5 on private label. we get overtime after 47.5 hours. go figure...

Thanks!

Dough Freak, If Wonder was so messed, why was it Millbrook that cut 40 routes in June of 2004? You were losing money. Sullivan, Kafoure, and the rest were IBC people, not CBC. You bought us. Why would you buy us if we were no good? You reasoning does not make sense. Admit the truth. The aforementioned people ran the company into the ground. CBC management had nothing to do with it.

While on my route ran into Smith - he was walking around the store in dark sunglasses and came up and started to talk about my product. No idea who he was until it came time for him to state that he thought my rack did not have enough product on it. Well duh! I had just gotten to the store and was check returns. This guy is a real winner and he acts like he is God's gift to sales. Since it is known that we no nothing about our customers and he knows everything. When I told the supr he went nuts says he knows he will get a call now from his boss about the whole market condition - and this affects me how - I can see the extra product comming now. Well I can play the game to - what do you think load adjust or returns is for you IDIOTS in management.

When are you all going to learn that as long as Smith makes money they will leave him alone. Tony A only cares about the $$$$ and his Bonus. So he will let Smith use and abuse anyone as long as he brings in the dough. Best thing to happen is the fact that both of the finance guys quit so maybe someone will have to look deep into the books to ensure that he Smith is telling the truth since the chicken coop is no longer protected from the foxes. Smith will kill this plant and someone get this guy John G. out of here and let us do our jobs.

To Anon in Buffalo - If memory serves me right the company came to us with the idea of unlimited sick days. Under the previous system you would only be paid for a sick day if you turned in a doctor's note. The problem was an employee would have to get in to see the doctor on the same day he was too sick to work so he could get the excuse. If you took ill on a Friday night you could be out until Tuesday, and by then you could be making a visit to the doctor's when you were no longer sick. The company's solution? Offer the rank and file a few paid sick days with no doctor's note necessary? Nah...... Give them unlimited sick days with no strings attached! It was meathead management like this that put us in bankruptcy my friend.

Regarding Local 6 - The only way this union is going to have a decent chance of turning is around is to get rid of the shop steward and union representative. I always hear complaining and whining in the lunchroom but yet no one wants to do one single thing about it. All the union wants to do is to take our money and do absolutely nothing for us. I would like to know what do they do for us to charge us $32 a month? If you take notice any information about the bankruptcy situation is put up by the company. How come our union doesn't give us any information? Isn't that what we pay them for or are they enjoying our hard earned money? It is definately time to take some sort of action here. There is strength in numbers and if we all would work together we could possibly make a change.

Comment: The days are gone when an employee could leave their welfare up to their employer, union or government's sense of fair play. In today's world, each worker needs to know more about their individual and collective "Employee Rights in the Workplace" than ever before. Unless you happen to live, work and then die in a one-horse-town somewhere in America, you need to start learning now about how to protect yourself and your family, while working as an employee! Lesson #1. Your employer, union and government (local, state or federal) are not your good buddies! They could care less if you lived one more day or died instantly! You are a means-to-an-end. You are a liability, not an asset! Your family means nothing to them. You only exist for them to use and abuse, according to law! Now, get to work and don't save your wages! They all hate subjects with substantial savings accounts! They are control freaks. The weaker you are, the better they feel!

So much business we can barely keep up. 5 bakeries in Washington and Oregon and we still have to pay the Safeway bakery to make 5 hours of product for us a day. We are in the process of building a state of the art bakery in Eugene. Should be done by late 2006. Also heard that when Lakewood closes that we are going to buy it and maybe hire some of you guys back to work for us.

Comment: If your an IBC employee and also unfortunate enough to be called a Teamster or by whatever union's name, then you need to watch the on-going battle gaining steam at Northwest Airlines between them and their union force of 400 mechanics and 800 plane cleaners (PATCO-4400 members). Presently, Northwest is not in bankruptcy like IBC finds themselves however the struggle for better paying jobs in America is still real here and in the flesh. And, it's a real shame so many of these so-called labor unions have been too corrupt too long to care about the real backbone of America...their hard working, god fearing classes of people! What to expect next! PATCO will bite the dust due to the petty jealousness and secret envy of every other labor union presently in the USA! Hoffa just committed suicide by withdrawal from the AFL-CIO. And, he took a few of his choice union cronies with him! Good riddance to bad apples, I say! Maybe, just maybe folks, because of this disruption in orgainzed crime, Labor in America will get another chance to live and to breath the good life. The one they fought and died to achieve in several world wars without these crooks killing them off in their workplace.

Comment: Let's get real here folks when it comes to this Northeast bullshit, IBC and their bankruptcy crap and the huge pile of human dung calling themselves the Teamsters Union. On paper, they both just made a deal to enslave these 500 or so employees to the year 2010! Meanwhile, the fact IBC is in the throes of bankruptcy means this agreement is not worth the paper it is recorded on! What it really is, is an attempt by this company and union to make IBC more attractive to would-be-suitors and to save the Teamsters Union from absolute extinction.

hey new york. how about the details on transport drivers? what id they give back? in reply i think they lost 50 cents an hour this year, no raise next year, and 35 cents for each remaining year. They did get something to do with a bonus that i am not to sure of, I know it was nothing major. They do have to watch out because if the company decides it wants to use a third party for transporting they can not sure on the details though

You people should feel lucky you have a job and shut up. Take the cuts in pay and benefits. Give up your vacations. Do not worry about the management that they are getting a big bonus. Do not worry when they play golf and have nice dinners paid by the company. So what if they have paid sick days. So what if they have a company car with unlimited gas. So what if they know very little and are dumb. So what if they sit around and do nothing. Just be happy you have a job.

new york contract for bread From unlimited sick to 3 days that can be accrued for 4 yrs Gave 50 dollars back in base pay(38 dollars+no raise this year) No new raise for life of contract Contract extended to 2010 no lose in commision no lose in benefits 65 route between bread and cake coming off as opposed to 144 however we are short 22 bodies right now so it may not be to bad Route avg must be 8950-2006 9150-2007 9300-2008 9450-2009 If route avg is not reached in any 4 week period company at there discretion may give 30 day notice of routes being reduced to reach that avg. however after 2008 no 30 days notice required. If companys EBDITA is over 150 million dollaars local will get 10% of anything over that 150 million mark to be split between employees. It may not be much but it is something. If company breaches this extension old contract goes back into force

As with DB from Jamaica I also voted to keep my job. Gave up $35 a week in base pay. That I can live with. Also we gave back unlimited sick days for Wonder drivers in exchange for 3 sick days a year which cannot be redeemed for cash. I think the guys who voted against any concessions were most upset with that. They were probably the ones who abused the sick time to begin with and will now have to come to work to get paid. Hostess drivers will have no paid sick days but will be able to use a personal day if they can't make it. This is a small price to pay to show bankruptcy judge we will work with inept IBC management. Otherwise he might force even tougher concessions.

in reply to International Teamster Union stoops to their prior Days of Slave Trading for their Locals (550, 701) in the Northwest by reaching an agreement to extend and modify their present work agreements with IBC through the year 2010! It was difficult to determine who was licking their lips more...the Teamsters Union or IBC! Working for Less is now going to be the new IBC-Teamster work standard not only in the Northwest but throughout the entire USA, if they are successful in selling it to the masses. However, it will not affect their wages...only the working class citizens or as they used to call them...Slaves! Of course, none of this really means a thing if IBC decides to close their doors instead. It will only be another unfullfilled promise coming from the Teamsters and IBC...so what's new about this? Nothing We all voted for our jobs. I do not call $60000+ a year a benefits slave labor. Go work for Weston if you are not happy here. I here Thomass muffins have a 5000 deductible on medical, And that Entemans annuity is in trouble. Volpe did what he could to save jobs, benefits and the pension. If the company does turn it around then we will worry about that in 2010 when we have some kind of leverage. With the company in BK we have no leverage union or non union. I am not happy with what went on but I will still have a job and not have to start somewhere making 35000 dollars a year and trying to survive in new york

Hey Doughfreak, When IBC purchased Continental Baking in the 90's your stock reached 64 and then split. It reached 64 only AFTER the purchase. It was IBC's management at that time that proceeded to run us into bankruptcy. You need to get your facts correct before you open your ignorant mouth.

from our contact at chicago northside: word has it that a r.s.r. there takes home the division bread van every night because he dosen't want to drive his car. gas is expensive, i guess. let the company pay for it. also heard that the gas card from said van is also missing. personal fuel account? hmmm. by the way, the r.s.r's initials are J.L. we don't think anyone else there has the same initials. division manager has been informed but does nothing. stay tuned...

Hey curious, he was one of the best stewards we ever had in NB. Always fought the fight and never quit, even when he was being stabbed in the back by the so called locker room lawyers. Some people just don't want to hear that maybe, just maybe, they were wrong and maybe they did not have a grievance. But much to his credit he would often fight for these losers and save their jobs for them. He had more class, integrity, and balls than most of these know it all whining bitches. Alot of this has been in fun but this is a very thankful long term employee. It was a pleasure to work with such a class act. I think i will now sign off from this site and move on. Will always remember the good times and good people of My Bread. I never thought i would miss it this much, but i do. Good luck to all who have been displaced by IBC.

Comment: Yours truly recently detected something is in the wind and brewing with regards to IBC management and their total lack of anticipated antics. IBC is not behaving as they should be facing certain bankruptcy and this can only mean trouble ahead for their current workforce. This "lack of proper behavior" is a reliable signpost, IBC is turning their ship around under cover of darkness and charting a new course behind our (employee) backs. I predict this "new course" is going to reflect the difference between a passenger ship line and a ship which carries freight only containers. Bon Voyage, my Sweet!

Comment: We have no plans to go independent distributor at this time. This, however, does not constitute a full and complete denial of the aforementioned possibility. Due to the volatile financial and business environment that we currently find ourselves in, we reserve the right to institute changes and/or modifications to our current business operating procedures. Rest assured that it is our goal to keep an open and informative dialogue between ourselves and our highly valued workforce. This process will take patience and perserverence, but I am convinced that together we can be successful in even the most difficult cicumstances.

As i said in my earlier post 22yrs at the Davenport plant, then fired by Charlie Smith. He will do whatever it takes to make himself look good .... watch out for the paper trail ! The details - My assistant was srewing one of the s.visors and eventually moved in together (against company policy). Went to Charlie for support ... was told by him to fire my assistant on poor work performance. I told him no i was'nt fireing anyone for unjust reasons and that he needed to do his job and enforce company policy. Went to HR, M.Ali and eventually division HR .... all no support. Thats when the B.S. write-ups on me started .... with-in two month's i was fired. Charlie covered his ass by moving the the women s.visor into sales. Life outside IBC is wonderfull, do not miss all the backstabbing and lack of support from upper management and division. To me the ESL program was the worst decision ever made to save a few dollars. I was very proud to work for Wonder Hostess because of the high quality products that we put out .... nothing but the best ingrediants used. How upper management turn there backs on QUALITY ! Go out and buy any ESL cupcake or loaf of bread .... wait till the experation date and compare the taste to a fresh cupcake and loaf of bread. Sad to see thousands of hardworking dedicated employee's affected by the decisions of a few. Wonder Hostess was built on QUALITY .... why would you deviate from sucess.

One of their most favorite persons has to be Charlie Smith. The way they carry on over him and his leadership skills really shows how much love they have in their hearts for him. IBC must really be proud of their people and products because it really shows through when it comes to the way they treat them as employee's and customers. Well, I'm so overcome by all the loving ways everyone at IBC shares with each other, that I must leave now to dry my tears of joy and appreciation! You brought up good points. Although, we do not need union people ,as much as we need people that want to do the proper job. This includes mgt. at every level needs to be on the same page.Frito Lay has a way of doing business and so does Coke. They do not deviate a whole lot. You take a tour of our company in different areas , and it is like do whatever you want. H.R. is confused and so are the employees . This has been happening for about 7 years. You sound like you are a good candidate for supervision. Oops, not now........... Wait a couple of years and , you might just be a Plant Mgr.

Who wants to be a boss? A person with little or no education from within the system that has nothing to loose so they take the job. A person who is a friend or relative of some person of high importance in the bakery who has no leadership skills or backround education in the field. These people will take a job like this as they are in the bottom of the barrel anyway and nothing to lose. The rewards are you have to work overtime without the pay. You will work any hours they tell you to. You will work any shift or multiple shifts. In otherwords you will have no life. Go for it. Where else can you be a boss and make big money for doing nothing. Why right here.

It is true that many of our problems are above the supervisor level. However, the term "supervisor" in this day in age means that he is nothing more than a glorified route runner. Most of them have long ago resigned themselves to that fact and have given up on trying to build business. Others are content to run routes because that is the limit of their talents. What we need is for the routes to be covered by union salesmen and the depots to run by a management team with the proper time and training to do the job. They also need to be shown proper respect and compensation to attract quality people. A branch manager (they may be refered to as district managers in some areas) should never ever never be running a route. He should be available at the office to deal with problems as they occur and to direct his supervisors. He should be working the phones and making appointments to schmooze with store managers. He should be helping his salesman with their orders and making them aware of trends. It's going to take a sales FORCE to win back the respect of our customers and return to profitability. And yet there we go, off in the other direction.

I couldn't agree more with Outsider. My husband has worked at the Philly plant for over 15yrs and it has been the same story for just about that long. I think one of the worst problems of management is the way they promote or hire supervisors. I know of one supervisor who used to work in production, left the company for awhile, came back and shortly thereafter was promoted to supervisor. How did that person rate that job? I really think that they have to take a good look at all management and see who is doing their job and who is not. There are employees who do care about this company and want to see it succeed.

The reason new hires don't learn the business is because the company makes it very unattractive for experienced and knowledgable salesmen to go into supervision. Therefore, they must draw from the least senior people or people who hated being salesmen and just want to come off the road. They can't teach what they don't know. The fundamentals have completely disappeared in this company and are remembered only by the oldtimers. And as hard as our new CEO may try, nothing will ever change until we are sold to a company that knows how to manage people.

Comment: Yea, these black people can really be problematic persons, that's for sure! The fact they can read and understand written and spoken words and have the same abilities of sight, sound and smell as you and I have, has nothing whatsoever to do with their needing to be treated the same as you and I are treated. The fact that our nations' constitution begins with the words "We, the people" has absolutely nothing to do with them or their race of people! However, I'm more than willing to "give way" to them and their entire race because I have come to know, admire and respect them both individually and collectively. If you don't agree with me to do likewise, then I suggest you put yourself on the next flight for outer space and don't do a return flight unless your ready to fight for your life on earth! After all, thats all they are doing to begin with!

Comment: IBC's Top Three Hit List of What if, pundits! 1. If IBC was running an airline company instead of a bakery, we would need much larger dumpters! 2. If IBC management was plotting ComCast satellite orbits instead of selling baked bread, we would be starving to death before we saw their next telecast! 3. If IBC was in the funeral business instead of baking bread, their new ESL (extended shelf life) line of products might make better sense!

Comment: Wow! I stumbled accross this page while searching for a recipe for fried Twinkies. Curious, I started to read the backward chronicled postings...I have a few comments I'd like to leave. If you, as an employee are so dissatisfied, why not just LEAVE? No company needs a sales person who doesn't promote his/her own product (let alone even buy their own company's product). You are all a disgrace. Not only to ibc, but to your role as an adult. You should be excited about all of your products whether you like them or not. Enthusiasm sells! Also, why do you rely on your managers to get more business? Does Hostess cakes have sales reps or delivery boys/girls? It sounds like everyone hates upper management. Has anyone in that 'upper' level ever been to a seminar of, or read Dale Canegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People? Well..they need to! Heck! Maybe everyone who posts here should follow suit. It also sounds like your company is just WAY too large! The need to scale back! Maybe they should do as someone posted earlier and not allow thrift stoes to sell FRESH product. (that makes very little sense). I thought a thrift store was just that...sell day old product. No wonder you're losing money. Why can't the thrift store concept spin off into another 'Get-Go' type of convenience store? Get the brand name out there! I hope that IBC springs back from this downfall...I'll continue to purchase your Hostess cakes and your Bakers Inn products as long as they are available, because they are just awesome products! (Although there are some new items you guys came out with (and that my family really enjoyed) that have just seemed to disappear from the market)... Best wishes to all...and please...try to improve your images of both the company you represent and of yourselves! Thanks for your time.

And when a salesman found new business his route was split. Its too late now. T.A. is doing exactly what many a good salesman tried to do earlier.

Charlie Smith and some Arab named Mohaamad Ali ( not the boxer) since their unwarranted intervention plan, Tulsa has been on one giant death sprial downward!! Word to wise if you see these men coming into your plant be prepared for many hours of hell and headache's !! They took a winner and ran her a ground...I can only hope someone in IBC's upper, upper manangment takes a look at what these two dummies have done to their PROFITABLE PLANT in TULSA, and the morale of the common working person in every department is shot to hell, they won't get it back. GOOD LUCK to ALL other Bakeries we are going down fast!!!! Mr. Bulter retired years back.

This young lady is definitely busy weaving her web and grabbing market share, while others are still-in-the waters and spell-bound. Whatever market moxie Ms. Lee may have, IBC certainly needs to acquire. The air in their boardrooms is stale and stodgy for sure due to too many years of brain-dead corporate leaders who forgot to lead! It seems the Roosters at IBC are no match for the hip and energetic Chicks at Sara Lee's. I say, "Go get'em girls, knock their male chromosones off!

We used to be one of the best ,now everyone has given up and no one really cares.Sales are down, stale is out of site, waste is rampant .We dont have a very good mgt. team but its not their fault they are only following that idiot C. Smith. Well guess what Charlie you have ruined a fine opperation and I hope you are made to answer. We really dont care anymore so do you think we are going to do anything we dont have to? Only if you are looking

To D: I am playing at the Stardome Comedy Club tonight. They were able to squeeze us in. Most of these performances are "Special Performances", so we have the element of surprise. In Birmingham they love the governor, but now they love Razz.

Comment: On the subject of one's ability to "read between the lines" with news that IBC's was seen sending "the employee insurance coverage check (thousands of dollars including endless delays) to the wrong insurance company" one has to deduce this was done primarily to the high turnover rate of IBC employee's throughout the company and directly attributable to their having filed for bankruptcy protection (Their on their way to going broke!). In other words...IBC's longtime employee's are dropping like flies since their employer filed bankruptcy with their replacements not having a clue of what to do in order to keep the ship sailing in "any known direction."

I also heard that both of the PC Finance guys quit this past week due to the crap that Smith demands that is illegal. Well at least some guys have ethics. To bad the real top management doesn't.
