for 21 years i have worked for this company running routes. we had six routes and they cut us back to three routes. i have seen many routeman and supverisors come and go, but what they did to our routes was stupid, i was doing between 6500 to 7100 a week, now sense they cut three routes off i am putting in a lot mor time and doing less business. we have some routes going to work at two in the morning and getting off at eight in the evening. and they thank cutting routes and shutting down bakeries is going to save this company, i am just a farm boy from alabama and i know more than a lote of people in upper management knows. i am not bad mouthing the company i hope the stock goes to forty two dollars a share, but it looks that they might be closing a lot mor bakeries. gave my notice last week this week is my last week to work for merita i wish the compamy and every one that works for them the best of luck.

Hurricane Rita update: Houston area did not work today. The city has ordered mass evacuations from Galveston, Tx. all the way through the greater Houston area. Traffic is at gridlock on all freeways heading out of town. To travel 30 miles is taking 10- 12 hours . It is a terrible situation, and I will have to stay because the traffic is at a standstill.

Well, we are now under gods (JA) control. No adjustments (for next week) prices in handhelds wrong, no dexing, no base order, and our supervisor is worried about golf? It's bad enough you can't contact him before 8 am on a work days but on saturday's he does't even show up, unless the nearest golf course counts. I wish I was Dorthy in the wizard of Oz. Then I would be able to click my heels three times and wish Chuck (with Dolly) was our boss. Oops I forgot he left our fair company last week. Now the dolly boys are stick with the same useless boss we have. Guess who that useless unamed person is?

Hey DoughFreak...you out there? It has been a while since I posted. So, what do you think about all the changes? Good, bad, or indifferent. I have personal opinions, but it doesn't matter. I believe we sufferred a setback the day we handed out 60 day "WARN" notices to our employees. Things seemed to take a turn for the worse. We made mistakes on the recent management changes. We have quality issues. We seem to be putting out fires instead of concentrating on what caused the fires. As far as you and I go...it's all good. You are as proud of your heritage(glendale) as I am of mine(pomona). There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We should all be as proud! Those that are as unhappy as they seem to be(by the postings I read) need to leave. We are changing, this is true. Some areas are good, some areas are bad. IBC will make it. I hope to be a part of this. If it gets to the point where I am not happy, I will move on. We need people that will help, not complain. We do have people in the wrong positions, I admit this. Philly bakery needs to concentrate on quality not quantity. Just give us what we order. If it's good quality product on a consistant basis believe me we'll order more. We don't need "units" to make the numbers look better. How do you think we got where we are today? You should make product that not only catches the customer's eye but makes the salesman say "wow......I can really push this!" We work on commission, remember?

I think Jim Hutton was a hell of alot better production manager than Jeff Davis. Jim Hutton cared about his employees! He treated everyone fair! Jeff Davis is trying to make things better, but he is only making things worse! He don't care about the employees. He only cares about himself. There is no seniority what so ever there. A top seniority person cannot bump. All the low jobbers have their way. Its really too bad that IBC cannot be more like Sara Lee (Colonial). If you worked there everyone was on their bid job. With the high price of fuel for all those delivery trucks, has anyone thought of going to a 4-day work week and save 20% on our fuel cost? Seems like this would be big savings. But then I work in the bakery, what would I know.

Ed in Florence: I am getting grief about the workplace from my family . More hours less pay/ benefits. It all works out to not getting paid enough. I worked pullups on Labor Day . I did not get paid . I told my supervisor, and he said that he hoped that it would be on the next paycheck. I Know for a fact , that it SHOULD be on the next paycheck. Especially, since it was his mistake. He did not apologize at all . His response was that , I hope it is on the next paycheck. Oh , by the way, I need to explain further..... I went on vacation and a rt. relief person made mistakes on the rt. I came back that Monday and resumed the rt. A couple of months later that supervisor was accusing me of the rt. being short. I told him I was on vacation that week . He could not figure out why the paperwork was short . I looked at the paperwork and came to the conclusion that I could not figure out why the rt. was short. Guess what? He conveniently forgot to tell payroll to pay me for pullups. I do not mind working long hours , but to purposely shortchange an employee about hours worked is inexcusable. These are the problems that are perpetrated against individuals at I.B.C. on a regular basis . I used to be in mgt. , and it gets ridiculous. If you make mgt. look bad , it only makes matters worse . I am currently seeking new employment. I.B.C. will never change.

I would like to know who sets prices for our company. Box cake at 2/$5.00 for the past two months has increased our business 10 fold. It seems to me that the volume we have at that price would more than make up for the price loss per unit. Also -- who's bright idea was it to go up on the dunks? we have lost well over half the business since the increase. It seems that someone would react to the lost business...

Notice how none of all of these complaints are comming from one of the only areas, (FLA) That have fully finished their restructuring? Wonder why that is?

Memo to Coop, good move on switching the 2 DMs districts to get them closer to home! Now we need to stop the bleeding or we're going to lose S&F next! Get the loads to the depots on time!! No excuses! Find someone that can properly run our Transportation and Distribution depts. Get the District MGRS out on the market instead of in front of your computers!! Take the Branch MGRS off routes so they can properly do their jobs! (making sure product is added for promos, checking the slackers stores for mandatory displays, ensuring stores are served daily, not when the RSR wants to.
