Isn't that teamsters union local 190 a piece of work?Do you really think they care about the rank and file? Its about more members more dues more big pay check and expense check for them.Big Deb tell the union what to do and they do it."Fat Boy "Hoffa and his union cronies will sell out the rank and file every chance they get.The only thing coming out of the teamsters union is Hot Air.The union talks tough then sell out it own members ."Just pay your dues sit down and shut up we will tell you what to do"The teamsters union is worthless the sooner you get out of this worthless union the better you will be.

Comment: It seems that Delphi and Delta employees are running a BK foot race to see who walks off their jobs first! Both their employers are before the BK judge with like requests, asking to rid themselves of their past sins! In essence, their both telling the judge they were dupped into paying their employees way too much money, starting many, many years ago and now they want these work agreements thrown out legally, period! These are what I refer to as having "Cry Baby Blues." Now that you've suckled your Mama's breast dry, you still want more! The real problem today is that American Labor is without a collective voice to represent their collective interests. There are literally thousands of labor unions in America acting out, but absolutely none bringing home the bacon, Baby! Lip service is what they do best!

Comment: People who still believe this company will turn around and right themselves, need to have their heads examined for brain matter. Their entire corporate structure is lined on all sides with nothing but idiots and fools. Think of it this way. Your going under the knife today to have a brain tumor removed. The person performing your operation is named Alvarez, who's only claim to medical fame, is the hospital claimed bankruptcy and put him in absolute charge. Now good luck and sweet dreams. And above all, don't worry! Everything will turn out just fine. Now put the mask on and begin to breath deeply. Remember... the deeper you breath, the less pain you feel.

The only routes I see going distributership are the routes that are not profitable, if you've got several eight thousand dallor averages all together in one depot it would be stupid to go distributership. The four to six thousand dallor routes sure, it doesn't pay to keep the routes. The things I see happening with our wonderful company now actually make sense and are showing potential to be intelligent. I'm gonna hang in there and see what happens. Don't dump that worthless stock yet, look what happened to Kmart.

Bakers took a cut in pay plus fore going their upcoming $0.55 raise. Plus the Union dues went up a couple of dollars. I guess we could just lead you over the cliff and you all will follow? Remember that all the positions from Plant Managers on up are making a salary from $90000.00 on up to over $100000.00 per year. Did they also take a cut in pay? I doubt it, they are still waiting for the other part of their retention bonus to be paid.

D. Cook This is in response to your post . I always thought there was something strange going on here. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. The Teamsters Union has been bought by the Company. It won't be long the members will have to form a union to protect themselves from the Teamsters. As far as voting for this shitty contract, I don't think so. I would rather see them close the place down. Hopefully you will lose your job too. As far as OVER PAID? I would like to see you make a living on $16 per hour. If anybody is overpaid it is you management types running this place into the ground. Nice Job! Keep up the good work.

Why all this talk about the Philly bakery getting the axe? Don't people know that this is The City of Brotherly Love, a world class city of fine arts and entertainment. A city of Higher Learning and Great Healing. The city of Ben Franklin and the Liberty Bell. The original capital of our great country. Why would they close us down? Because we're incompetent and make lousy product? That's no reason. Give us one good reason to shut us down. I say we close the Biddeford bakery, which is in the Canadian wilderness. They won't care anyway. It will give them more time to chop firewood and club baby seals. Besides, if your life was on the line who would you want to show up......two guys from Philly or ten guys from Biddeford who still wear flannel in July?

The volume was absorbed at lewis" other bakeries. This seems like very smart business if you ask me. You are so right, Very smart business for them. But if you were a employee or a part of the managment team you got the bones they (Lewis) got the steak. The insurance sucked the 401 sucked and they took vacation time away beacuse their people only got four weeks top, Five weeks were unheard of. And when they closed the bakeries how many people did they keep? Ask some of the employees that came back to IBC you will find them at the Hogkins plant.

To all unions either take what we offer and be happy that you have a job - or quit we do not care. We will not be bringing any other offers to the table, this is the last and best offer that you will see. All of the Union leaders have already promised their support and will order you to ratify the offer. If you are stupid enough to vote it down in a regular session, thne you will be fired and the plant locations closed - support of the BK Judge. So take the offer and keep your mouth shut at least we will allow you to keep your overpaid jobs.

Why would Lewis want to buy a obsolete facility like Schiller Park? It would cost millions to revamp the ovens alone not counting the bldg thats in poor condition. The best thing would be to close it down and ship the stuff in from another state. Most of everything is patched up to operate anyway. Too many accidents is another reason to close it. I think the building has a curse on it. And lets not forget Osha always being called in because of unsafe issues. Remember the asbestos problem years ago. The person that created that problem is still employed there.

But then what can one expect out of a Corporation that continues to deny their responsibility and role for unlawful race and sexual discrimination in the context of their employment duties with their respective employee's.

The poster who said bend over , and grab your ankles is right on the money.I was running number one as usual, and was told , that I would be picking up more business. It does not make any sense, and the time has come to work for a REAL company..   Comment: Anon in Henderson- Stop slamming Gary Vesterby? Why? While he was in Arizona he didn't just crticize and do nothing. He was very active trying to "fix" things. Because of his arrogance, incompetence, and total lack of ethics, he drove the entire state into the ground. AZ now has a decimated, demoralized work force that doesn't even flinch anymore at $1500 plus outs and 16 hour days. Supervisors and sales reps are all completely burned out. Those that have stayed won't be there for long. AZ has lost space and sales in all important accounts. Because of the plus outs and the market being absolutely buried in product, the customers are always eating old cake and bread. Freshness is non-existant. The only thing that Vesterby improved were the numbers, and they are all fictitious. When everyone from supervision on down is putting product on the trucks without adding it to the load sheets, and then finding the nearest dumpster so they can toss it, something is wrong. We're talking tens of thousands of dollars. Las Delicias? Just throw it away. Donut bites and mini-muffins? Same thing. Shortcake? In the dumpster. How can you dispose of thousands of dollars of product every week without raising a red flag?!? Management all the way to the top knows about it, but does nothing. I wonder why? Could there be some creative bookwork somewhere along the line? If a depot orders in $100,000 dollars in a week , and $100,000 leaves the depot, but only $85,000 can be accounted for in the bookwork, isn't there a small problem? Vesterby tried to make himself look good at the expense of every employee (management and union) beneath him, and it finally caught up with him.

To those of you bashing Local 85: Have you never heard of Good Faith Negotiations and the steps a company must go through in order to void a contract? The Company will go to the judge and instead of playing ref he's going to tell them to sit down and fix the fucking problem or the whole place will be shutdown. Do some research on the airlines negotiations, rules for voiding contracts, and then look in the mirror. Your union is throwing you under the bus. Someone is getting money paid to them to tell you this is all you will get. They have you grabbing your ankles taking the big one. If the union would have actually communicated with the other locals and they all said "No" like they should have you would be in a much better situation, but some of you will take what they offer and not fight it. Why let the lower man suffer when they paid the fuckups that got us here at GO money to stick around?

Great timing on the Hispanic cakes Kafoure! As usual, you and your crew are about two years behind the learning curve. Just like the low-carb bread. Another one of your blunders Mike! Maybe if you'd step down off of your pedistal for two minutes and opened your eyes, you'd see that we have been right all along. Maybe, just maybe, if you hurry, you can catch your competitors in the market place. First, you become a whore to Wal-Mart and dump all of that money on the overwrap line in Emporia, only to have that fall flat on it's ass, then you make it look like you'd found the Holy Bread with the low-carb shit in a plastic sack. Face it Mike, your ideas are as stale as your bread! Watching you run IBC is about as amusing as watching two monkeys fuck! Mike you know everything don't you? If you were so damn smart, what the hell are you still doing with IBC. You should have taken the money and run like hell with Sullivan, Yarrick and the boys. Now you look like shit in the eyes of the boys on Wall Street. Now how's that for some straight talk. Believe it or not, if it weren't for your political two-faced bullshit that you learned early on, you couldn't even run a district, let alone an entire company.

Hard to believe after 20+ years in the Teamsters it's going to end like this. I used to be a proud member now it's just BS. We are going to lose our jobs anyway. Let's stand up to these guys and go down fighting. Instead the Teamsters knuckle under to the company's every demand. Cuts, I don't think so. Not in Billings, Montana. We are already the lowest paid in the system. All you guys voting on this contract proposal, tell them to stick it. Driving jobs are plentiful and it wouldn't take much to beat this one.

Tom Wilson and Ben Burnette-- Thanks for "suggesting" to Gary Vesterby that he take early retirement. But what on earth took so long? You knew what was going on in AZ, and didn't lift a finger to stop it. Why? Because the numbers looked good, and you sold your souls to try and look good. You had better hope that your superiors never learn what was really going on in Phoenix while you looked the other way. In the meantime, you have lost the cooperation of every RSR in the city. Your inaction won't soon be forgotten. Go ahead and try and hire new people. You haven't been too successful lately, have you? People won't even hire on, much less stay. How many more can you afford to lose, with no replacements? Plus it up, pile on the hours, threaten and bully until you are blue in the face. Or is the new tactic now to be compassionate, and understanding? Schmoozing the employees won't work. Actions speak louder than words, and everyone is on to your little two-faced game. Vesterby is gone, but the problem is that only the names change. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Thanks again. Unfortunately, it is way too little, way too late.

Concerned Driver, Let's put this one to sleep shall we. This is the last response you will be getting on the RPI business. RPI is very, very profitable, just as profitable as it would be if it were delivered off an hourly transport or a commissioned route. That's the facts, nothings changing other than maybe you will now concentrate on your own job which is getting your transports products to the depots on time, those route guys depend on you. Stop wasting everyones time by insinuating how and who should be making deliveries without understanding the business itself.Once again, your job is to get product to the depots on time...THAT"S IT.

America is now turning into a Nation of Double Standards! The politicians "we elect" to protect our Nation, are busy selling it off piecemeal for their own benefit. President Bush is telling American people that they have too many jobs going unfilled because they refuse to work at them. However, he never has named even one of these so called unfilled jobs that he now says must all go to foreign guest workers. American workers must now take three steps back and starve to death in their own country! Our national Health Care System, Social Security, Stock Markets, Law and Order, Human Ecology, Higher Education, Housing Industries, Cost of Living Standards are all in the toilet, thanks to our so-called leaders in Congress and elsewhere!

What is the real deal with that? Why is it so important for sales personnel to be delivering that product? Is there a cap on that too? Come on DRIVERS get with it, these are questions that should be answered. Maybe if someone would show us the true numbers in black and white. Then maybe, we would understand. The problem here is that we all work for the same company, but it feels like each department is at war with the other. Union or no union. We are all human and we all want oppertunity. CSullivan, PYarick, FCoffey and several other current IBC Management types are working on buying out this company and taking it private, just like they did in the 80's. That way they can run this place like they want to and screw the SEC and current stock holders. The majority of the ex CBC guys will be canned, (attention JForbes, LWoorley, CSmith, SCooper, etc), since they have destroyed the brands over the last few years. Several retired exec's are going to come back for a 1-2 yrs to fix this Company and incentives will be based on the final outcome only - either it works or no one gets anything.

I do read this site, and I can't say how disappointed I am in your attitude. I really do care about you guys, even though I am currently in IBC limbo. Really, I do. I still say that with a little "tweaking", you guys will still be able to get your hours down under 75 per week. Remember, there will be a "learning curve". Did I mention that there will be no more plusses? I'm still here if you need me, guys. I really want to help you in anyway I can. Really, I do. And I really mean that. Even thuough I am no longer physically with you, I will always be with you in spirit. The next time you get a $2000 plus, you will be able to feel my presence right there with you. When you come in off the route after 15 hours, remember me fondly.   Comment: Ah, sorry, hombre. Las Delicias has died a slow agonizing death. We threw away 100 patelitos for every one we sold. Everyone stopped ordering the pound cake and cupcakes after the first month of sky high returns. Management, however, continued to shove the pastelitos down our throats(and right into the dumpster). R.I.P. Las Delicias.

Top Gun, Thanks for not whining. I guess you decided to spoon feed some of the crap you and "Answer & Solution" like to eat to anybody who might be jumping on this prison business band wagon. Do you have any idea how much commission will be paid on the prison transports? Could it be that less commission & base will be paid out than paying an hourly transport grunt. Ever heard of a "Cap"?

Posted on Sat, Mar. 25, 2006 IBC requests third extension to reorganizeBy The Kansas City Star Interstate Bakeries Corp., citing the complexity of its bankruptcy, has asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for more time to preserve its exclusive right to file a plan of reorganization. In a motion filed with the court late Thursday, Interstate said that while it had accomplished much in the 18 months since it filed for bankruptcy, much remained to be done. It is the third time that Interstate has asked for an extension. The last extension was to May 14 for Interstate to have the exclusive right to file a plan and until July 13 for the exclusive right to solicit and gain approval of a plan from creditors. Interstate now is asking that those dates be extended to Sept. 22 for filing a plan and until Nov. 21 to gain acceptance of it. Sept. 22 would mark the -second anniversary of Interstate?s bankruptcy filing. It sought Chapter 11 protection after experiencing a cash-flow crisis, listing assets of about $1.63 billion and liabilities of about $1.32 billion. Once the exclusive period has run, creditors or other parties can offer their own plans for reorganization. Since filing, the company has evaluated its 10 profit centers and has implemented consolidations. It has shut seven of its 54 bakeries, cutting its work force more than 15 percent to approximately 27,000 employees. It also closed about 200 thrift stores and 200 distribution depots. Challenges the company continues to deal with include negotiations with more than a dozen unions, including the Teamsters and the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers? and Grain Millers Union, which represent the majority of Interstate?s unionized work force, the motion said. Of the nearly 500 union contracts in force when Interstate filed for Chapter 11, 42 of the collective local bargaining agreements representing about 21 percent of the company?s union workers have been renegotiated. The company also said it has been completing financial audits, adopting controls to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, responding to an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and addressing tax issues. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters is scheduled to hear the motion at an April 12 hearing. Interstate?s stock, which has continued to trade during its reorganization, closed Friday at $8.20, down 5 cents.

Comment: Name: New IBC JOBS Location:Lakewood, WA Comment: IBC will open Lakewood Bakery as non-union May 2006. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I doubt that VERY seriously. Its highly doubtful that the union's collective bargaining agreement would allow a re-open that fast, if the plant were to convert to non-union. Case in Point:::::::: Flowers in Parkersburg, WV. When Flowers bought this plant from a small independent bakery, they almost immediately shuttered the plant and served their markets from their Bluefield, WV plant. When production got to where it couldnt be handled by Bluefield, they tried to re-open Parkersburg but couldnt for a period of 2 years from the time of shuttering due to union contract with Bakers and Confectioners. Point being... I doubt seriously that the unions would allow a re-open so soon after plant shuttering because they most likely have the same sort of collective bargaining agreement with IBC as they did Flowers...

Columbus, Ohio Wonder Bread Bakery management, especially the Plant Manager is one of the most racially biased good ol' boys that I have seen in all my working life. It is sad to think that, in this year of 2006, a person of color or a female is viewed so negatively. These same white men will live under God's rule and nothing else. "Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord". My take on it is "the people who do dirt will always get dirtier". IBC can stop me from exercising my right to work for IBC, however, IBC can never stop me from working. God is in command...IBC is nothing close. It's all so sad.

First off I'm not whining and yes, RPI is not the whole problem, but it goes like this. You allow one transport truck (RPI) to be operated by sales personnel and then whats next. One more maybe two. Check it out. We are going to be suppliers to the prisons once again. Some brain child has decided to put two (2) transport trucks in Fresno for route sales personnel to use for delivering to the prisons. Whats with that? Why should those men get a commission off a bulk delivery like that? This is a sale that involves no brain power, no labor because the loaders at the bakery load the truck and prisoners (at most of the prisons) unload the truck. Therefore all you need is a transport driver, not a route sale rep. So, the company can save a bundle on commission, two (2) trucks being based out of town, would be a waste because they can't be used for any other runs like other transports. Not to mention having to hire more licensed drivers or use mechanics like they have done in the past. These practices are not good. Get real and focus on what would be the right thing to do for this company and everyone involved. I have been an RSR and I have done DSD. I'am now a transport driver and we all know this situation should be looked at. Lets put the jobs where they belong.

Concerned Driver, Transport drivers in Sac need to stop worrying about the RPI run. RPI business is not the problem in Sac, it?s the miss interpretation and miss representation of the facts from idiots like you. The problem Sac transportation needs to focus in on is one person. Let?s call that person "Answer & Solution". "Answer", because this person is largely responsible for the runs and "Solution" because getting rid of this person would be the solution for transportations immediate problems?no leadership. Let?s all take a stab at who this person is?..shall we? Clue-His head is half the size of his body and all he ever does is commiserate. On another note, I thought I was having a nightmare a couple of nights ago when I pulled into the yard as a truck was pulling out. I looked into the cab and all I could see was a seriously screwed up grill that was glowing a bright yellow greenish color and a cigarette stuck between some of the jacked up teeth. Then I realized who it was. Use your dental plan H.A.

To bhbbc: General Motors' engineering staff has been told all leaves have been canceled. They have been ordered to report for work Tuesday morning--with company cars and keys. GM Friday wouldn't comment on Tuesday's meeting, but insiders said only the engineering staff is affected--for now. Cuts in other departments, including sales and marketing, would come later, perhaps as early as next month. After offering buyouts to all of its 113,000 hourly workers this week with the goal of eliminating 30,000 jobs by 2008, the ailing automaker now is turning to its white-collar workforce. GM has about 36,000 salaried workers, including an unspecified number of contract workers. About 2,800 positions were cut in 2005, including 500 contract workers. Since 2000, GM's salaried workforce has dropped from 44,000 people, largely through retirement and attrition. ISN'T THAT SPECIAL!!!!!! Analysts say the timing of white-collar reductions so soon after announcing the union buyouts is significant. It shows the United Auto Workers, which represents hourly workers, that the salaried workforce is making sacrifices to return North American operations to profitability. Do you think I.B.C. would do it this way???? Answer: No and Hell No! GM only days ago revised its loss for last year, kicking it up by $2 billion, to $10.6 billion. GM Chairman Rick Wagoner said last November that part of the automaker's $7 billion restructuring costs included $1.5 billion to eliminate up to 7 percent of the salaried workforce in 2006 through attrition and involuntary separation. But he didn't set a timetable. The engineering meeting next week, which is being referred to as "Black Tuesday," puts the white-collar job cuts in motion while the automaker consolidates engineering operations worldwide as part of its global strategy to cut costs by eliminating redundancy. There's no word on how many of the hundreds of engineers will be pink-slipped as part of the 7 percent white-collar reduction. "It won't be gigantic numbers," a source confided. It needn't be, said Erich Merkle, an analyst with industry forecaster IRN Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich. "If General Motors is going to survive, they have to be a smaller organization and get the cost structure under control," Merkle said. "They've got to become lean, streamline their processes, get products to market faster and take more risks." The company also is consolidating engineering operations. GM's Korean operations, for example, are now in charge of global small-car development. The expected cuts are the latest actions targeting salaried workers in recent months. In January, GM said it would shift its pension program for salaried employees from a defined benefit plan to one that relies more heavily on employee contributions. Also, GM eliminated the company match for 401(k) programs this year and raised out-of-pocket health-care expenses for salaried workers. Ford Motor Co., which faces struggles of its own, expects to eliminate 4,000 white-collar jobs in 2006.

well, this is interesting. we just saw a t.v. ad for sara lee's new line of whole grain white bread and it's sweet breads. the ad shows two little kids saying goodbye to their white bread and feeding it to some ducks. the interesting thing is that as they feed this white bread to the ducks, they are holding the bag of bread and dragging it on the ground. guess what they are holding? you guessed it. a bag of WONDER BREAD!!!!! i.b.c.- the market leader...

Across The Board Price Increase On Cake Effective April 17th. Hmm... After Laying Off Nearly 6000 Employess, And Having 8 Fewer Bakeries To Support And Several Less Route Trucks On The Road They Still Cant Show Any Signs Of A Profit. Well This Price Increase Will Bail The Company Out. Like They Were Always Fond Of Saying, "Price Doesnt Matter". Oh Boy.

4/10's, I heard that, with most of the runs now, I.B.C. would save a bundle of money in overtime. I'm surprised they haven't addressed this, unless they have and nobody is doing anything about it. Come on IBC, you made the bakers stick to their 7 hour deal. What about the teamsters, they cost this company alot more in overtime. And don't leave out the RPI run. That deal has got to be costing this company a big chunck in commission and that should be a transport run..............................

So, T.A. and cohorts have eliminated over 6,000 jobs from IBC. I wasnt sure how many, but I guess as long as HE gets his bonus thats ok. I just want to know know how a company in BK can justify the racing divas program, shrek, king kong and the upcoming taladega nights promotions when PEOPLE(thrift store people, route sales people, etc)are being let go,some without notice. Some day the persons making these decisions will have to stand before GOD and answer for their actions.

I see that's just another sign that IBC is headed for a sale, Chapter 7, or the toilet. It's a sigh of relief that they are in a round about way admiting that they cant' negotiate a contract when it comes to robbing an employee of everything they earned. Why not just offer the GM plan and buy us out? I'll take your money and run like Sullivan did and Alvarez will.

Interstate Bakeries asks for more time on bankruptcy exit plan. March24,2006 KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Interstate Bakeries Corp., the maker of Hostess Twinkies and Wonder Bread, asked a bankruptcy court Thursday for more time to draft its reorganization plan. A year-and-a-half after filing for Chapter 11 protection from its creditors, the Kansas City-based company said it still is trying to get a handle on its wide-ranging business and renegotiate hundreds of contracts covering its union-represented members. "The debtors' cases remain among the largest pending before any bankruptcy court in the United States," said the company, which operates 45 bakeries, 800 distribution centers and has 27,000 employees. The current deadline for Interstate Bakeries to file a plan for emerging from bankruptcy with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court is May 18, with July 17 the date by which the company's creditors must approve the plan. In its motion Thursday, the company requested pushing back the deadline to file a plan to Sep. 22 and set the deadline for getting the plan accepted to Nov. 21. Under bankruptcy law, if the company misses the deadline or can't get a reorganization plan approved, other parties can recommend their own plans. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters is scheduled to consider Interstate Bakeries' request April 12. In its motion, Interstate Bakeries noted that since filing for bankruptcy it has shuttered seven bakeries, closed 200 thrift stores, sold $84 million in real estate, remapped almost all of its 9,100 distribution routes and eliminated about 6,000 positions. The company, which started with 450 collective bargaining agreements, also said it has renegotiated contracts covering about 21 percent of its unionized work force. "The debtors' request for an extension of the exclusive periods is not a negotiation tactic, but instead, merely a reflection of the fact that these cases still are not yet ripe for the formulation and confirmation of a viable plan of reorganization," the company said. Kenneth Rosen, an attorney representing unsecured creditors, said he doubted his members would object to the delay and that the company appeared to be doing what it needed to get back to profitability. "I don't think anyone thought this would be a quickie case," he said. Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved. Who else has giant ass robototic equipment running dough troughs? WE CLOSED! No bakery is untouchable anymore! We had the fewest amount of ACTUAL employees I have ever seen in my time within the baking industry. We had a plant that took up 2 city blocks, and may have had 10-15 people in production on any given shift. Where is that place now?

But Philly is to big to close and Jamacia is one of the top 5 bakeries in profit

Seems to me we still have too many managment. When the workers still do their job and the department head has left the company. And the work still gets done for 6 months before they replace the position. hmmmmm. The workers are showing they have character, what they do when no one is watching. Still working. What a lot of managment seems to do is character assassination. Why? Sure workers are union, but why isn't management wanting to bury the hatchet? Why is there still a chip on mgmts shoulder? The propaganda about mgmt and union workers working together towards one goal, getting our collective asses out of bankruptcy must have been just that. A lot of BS

Tue, Mar. 21, 2006 Interstate Bakeries reports increased sales, $21 million lossAssociated PressKANSAS CITY, Mo. - Interstate Bakeries Corp., the bankrupt maker of Hostess Twinkies and Wonder Bread, reported Tuesday the first month-to-month increase in sales in almost a year. But the company said it still lost $20.8 million during the four-week period ending Feb. 4. The Kansas City-based company reported sales increased 10 percent to $225 million from the $204 million reported for the period ending Jan. 7. By comparison, the company reported sales of $258.7 million during the period ending Feb. 5 a year ago. Sales have been in free fall since April, the last time revenue increased from one period to the next. Since filing for bankruptcy in September 2004, the company has streamlined its operations, closing nine bakeries, cutting its work force by 5,000 and getting out of unprofitable markets. Cost of goods sold and other expenses increased only 6.8 percent between the January and February periods, but the company reported losing only $5.6 million in January because of a $25 million gain on sold property. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court has required monthly reports from Interstate Bakeries since the company filed for bankruptcy, blaming low sales and fixed operational costs. Interstate Bakeries shares closed unchanged at $7.90 in trading Tuesday on the over-the-counter market. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $4.50 to $13. Playing a game of selling off assets and cooking the books is something crooks do for a living, not decent law abiding citizens! Oh, that's right! This is Corporate America we are talking about now, folks and being crooked is their single and sole purpose in life, as they know it to be. Hence Enron!

Interstate Bakeries' loss deepens on higher revenue Los Angeles Business from bizjournals - 7:04 AM PST Wednesday Interstate Bakeries Corp. reported a $20.9 million loss for the four weeks that ended Feb. 4, almost four times its loss of $5.6 million for the prior four weeks. In a filing Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Kansas City-based maker of Wonder Bread and Twinkies reported gross revenue of $225 million for the period, up 10 percent from $204.4 million in the prior four weeks. Interstate Bakeries (Pink Sheets: IBCIQ) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sept. 22, 2004. The SEC requires it to file monthly operating reports, which are unaudited and subject to material change. The company has a profit center and six bakeries in Southern California. For the BK IBC started the name "profit center ". Wht not call them a LOSS CENTER and see what happends. LOL :-)

Interstate loses nearly $21 million By JENNIFER MANN The Kansas City Star Interstate Bakeries Corp. reported a loss of almost $21 million for the four weeks that ended Feb. 4 on sales that were up more than 10 percent from the previous four weeks. That compares with a loss of $5.7 million in the previous period, but one in which the wholesale baking company recorded a gain of $25.5 million from the sale of real estate. The company also reported it had negative cash flow of $11.5 million for the quarter, commonly referred to as EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. It had $16.9 million in negative cash flow in the previous four weeks. Total operating expenses for the period were up almost 5 percent, while costs alone for ingredients, packaging and outside purchasing costs were up more than 12 percent. Interstate, maker of popular products such as Hostess Ho Hos, Twinkies and Wonder bread, has been operating under Chapter 11 supervision since September 2004. Its reorganization is being overseen by New York-based turnaround firm Alvarez & Marsal. Since filing for Chapter 11, Interstate has reorganized its 10 geographic profit centers, which has included shutting down bakeries, distribution depots and thrift stores and consolidating delivery routes. It now has 46 bakeries, compared with 54 when it filed for bankruptcy. It has reduced its work force to 26,000, down almost 19 percent from 32,000 when it filed. It has also sold real estate. On the marketing side, the company has introduced new products, including a wheat bread targeted at white-bread fans and another bread fortified with extra fiber and nutrients. Interstate?fs stock, which has continued to trade since it filed for Chapter 11, closed Tuesday at $7.90 a share, unchanged. Earlier this month, the company asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to restrict trading of its stock by its largest shareholders in an effort to preserve tax benefits that could be used in the future, but was turned down by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters, who said the request was too restrictive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First glance ?? Interstate Bakeries Corp. has 46 bakeries, compared with 54 when it filed for bankruptcy. ?? The company has cut its work force from 32,000 to 26,000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To reach Jennifer Mann, call (816) 234-4453 or send e-mail to jmann@kcstar.com . Seems to this ole haus that if'n you wanted to rile up a few people expecially thosens that don't care for the lying sob. most the bakery don't like the man. You'd let the man waltz in as if'n he owned the place with out so much as a id tag saying he was a guest or something. Or how come he's using the copiers...what he doesn't have 5 cents to his name to go to the college or dillons and buy his own damn copies. And this company is ranting about the overhead....what else does the buckarooster waltz out the door with free of charge. Or how do you like the way he cozys ups to the crew and starts asking questions about the new plant mgr is doing. Then says something that they all get a good chuckle about. Who is he running back to with the answers? hmmmmm the things a little ole peon sees around here.

Eyes on the Floor ?? And what hourly wage to you think would be fair? Your not going to get anyone to work as hard as a RSM does unless you pay him pretty well. Let's start out low, lets say $10.00 an hour. Now , lets add in overtime. Time and a half. If you use our RSM as your example the average is 14-15 hours a day. So were talking about 30-35 hours a week in overtime ( and that doesn't count Wed. and Sun. pull up time) In overtime alone were talking $450-$525 a week. then you add in your regular 40 hours at $10 per hour. Now your at $400 more. That about $850-$935 per week. Thats about what were getting paid now on average. Remember, If they paid us by the hour, they would be forced to pay for the pull up time on Wed. and Sun. So your Hourly idea would cost them MORE $$$

Here we go again. Prison bread. Now the RSR's can make a real killing on commissions, while transport does all the work. Thats a great plan for IBC to throw away money. Make a phone call, find out how much the prison wants and Bingo........money in the pocket. Some of the prisons will be delivered by someone other than the RSR, but who makes the commision? The RSR. If IBC were smart they would do away with commisions altogether. Pay the route delivery pros on an hourly basis. Maybe then you wouldn't see so much product going to the hogs. I mean, really. Many other wholesale food companies don't pay on a commission basis and they are doing perfectly fine. In fact, it might make your upper sales management pros earn their paychecks. Its kinda like the RPI deal. What a sweet deal, deliver 4 days a week and get at least 2 days off in a row and the money that guy must make. How does IBC justify that kinda plan? They could probably save money if that were an hourly employee on tha run. I shouldn't have to point these things out to you all. You guy's have the college education, not me.

They are physically uncomfortable dealing with any unpleasantness or problem and would prefer if you handled it alone. When working with this type of of boss, do not expect much direction or support. You are on your own. And so are they. Concepts such as teamwork, networking, or finding time to discuss your career or life are foreign to them.

Six Types of Trouble The BULLY - This boss is the most identifiable of the group. The voice you hear is often abrupt and there is no denying that all decisions must stop at this desk. Control is highly important and manners often vanish under any pressure. Some extreme bullies create toxic workplaces through their intimidating behaviours and blunt directives. This type, in its extreme, can be venomous, difficult, and intentionally destructive. In a milder form, they are not intentionally harmful but display difficult behaviour, aggressive communication, and bad manners

WTF is going on with dEB wIESGARBER and randy (you stupid bastard) kuuen? Hmm? Well, I will tell you my friends. They drink together. (alot) Think about it for a second. Rumors of an affair have surfaced in the past, and one can never know, but the truth shall set you free. They have been seen at coulson park together, God only knows what the hell they were doing, but I'm sure it was sodomy 101. Anita has been known to be at some of these events, but this is purely speculation on my part. I think the bitch is on drugs myself. Now, having said all this, what's my point you ask? Let me tell you my friends. randy, deb, anita(burrito), bring nothing to the table for this company. If you agree or disagree with this post, you at least have to agree with me on that. They get paid big money, they drive company cars everywhere. I have seen Anita with her car at a local club drinking like a pirate who just escaped a good but flushing from a local. Anyway, someone should look into these misgivings. I personally don't think we should sacrifice this company's good name all because 3 little children couldn't drop their abuse of alcohol, drugs, and sodomy.

If IBC Management sees you posting propeganda, good or bad, it will make you an easy target when they need a scape goat. May not make a lot of sense to the rational people but IBC HQ is not running a rational business nor have they been doing so for many years.

Time pressure and deadlines ( 7am Tee Times, getting used to the new putter) 3. Poor internal communications ( Fax what fax?) 4. Lack of support ( Briefs or boxes) 5. Poor senior management ( Willson or Wilson?) 6. Too many internal meetings ( What are those?) 7. Politics ( Only kick'em when there down) 8. To : Joe in Lakewood Rumor has it ( imagine that ) that the bids should start rolling in on the place around the 23rd. Nothing physically has changed with the building or equipment...so the job opportunites should be soon, and prevalent. As far as who may be purchasing it...who knows. So many names have circulated recently, but there still seems to be the 3 main contenders. Sara Lee, USB and Maple Leaf Foods. Although the person that recently purchased Budwesier accros the street has also show interest. Who knows who he is. Hope this helps, and I hope you're doing well.

I would interview with , as many companies as possible. It is just around the corner, if you do not see this , it is unfortunate. I just turned down a pretty good job offer, but I left the door open. People interview to better themselves all the time. Do not be left holding the stale bag of Wonder bread........Act now, or forever hold your peace.

It has been many months since I have visitted this site, frankly because after i have put in 15+ hours at work I barely have the energy to do much except come home, have a few glasses of wine to try and erase the day so that I will be civil to my wife and kids. What was once a decent job (comparitavly at least) has become a nightmare from the time you pull into the parking lot until you get back in that car to drive your exhausted ass home. Displays running out of your ears in ALL the lousy stores (6 displays scattered throughout the stores) means that it takes you aolmost THREE TIMES as long to serve the store and when you compare your net volume from not six months ago the store runs about 10% more than it did. But then you run into the problem of not being able to make your door times in every major so you are left with the Catch 22 of either skipping stores or reducing delivery frequency just to be able to have some semblence of a planned route. The MASSIVE plaus outs on stupid items turns your truck into a jammed mess where every store which takes snack cake turns into a scavenger hunt. It used to be about workiong your stores but now it is just cram and run and hope you have room for tha massive returns you KNOW will be there next week thanks to the marketting team using the shotgun approach of "fling as much shit against the wall as possible" coupled with the fact that more than half the product you put out is heavily discounted with allowances so in the end you are left with a 75+ work week and are running about 10% more than you were. All of this in a location that was running X dollars and is now running X-20% dollars even though you are hauling 50% more than X. The simple simple math of this is apparent to someone who has managed to hit the education level to understand their multiplication tables, but seems to be a great mystery to management. Yes, bring it on Mr-Impotent-Lower-Management-Type. you are not truly the problem as you are being led by the nose to goose step the company line which now has become so employee hostile it would warrant massive Union actions (if the Union were anything except the crooked toothless money grabbers they have become). I see so many drivers who call in sick routinely when the effects of the massive plus-outs are due (can you say returns that look like haul outs from LAST March?) Go ahead, tell me and others to find another job "Shut up or quit" and other such completely useless horseshit. I see 20 year men scouring the papers for another job, I see guys who are two years away from 30 years who just pray they can make it to 30 years to bolt from the disastor this company has become. Most are just trying to survive. This goes for drivers, supervisors as well as low level managers who by virtue of this company's "progress" are stuck running routes themselves half the time. If you are one of those members of management who has a job where you actually have contact with route work you know I am right.

Hey ANON---I understand that BK Judge that IBC has in their backpocket can shut us down , close the doors , IBC knows that also !! We make Big $$ for IBC and supply a heck of alot of product to our sister plants and 5 states , you think IBC want us closed ??? It would cripple their Cental Sales Market , That's my point ANON , we will get what we want , just yell STRIKE ,STRIKE !! They will sign ALL up coming contracts and like it !! They can't afford ..as you say.. A financial loss and my friend they can't afford to have that Judge shut us down !! Sounds like a win / win deal, we will get what we want for now !! Hell , this my last contract anyway , I'm retiring , (with best contract we can get ) Tulsa plant is main HUB for shuffling product in Central area ! I just don't see those GO boy's not meeting our terms----ANON !! But thanks for the info , other plant's not so important might find it of use!!!! If they try to strike , But we hold the cards on this one.
