You always want to blame the driver, well OK. The driver should have cheched the load but don't put it all on him. You have loaders, transport and shipping foremen involved in this mishap. MAYBE YOU HAVE TO MANY LEADERS. And maybe some don't have the knowledge to go along with the position they were HANDED. Also, that hostler that took the load down is a foreman (with only hostler duties) Now, the question is: Will anybody be written up for this? Probably not, recently there have been quite a few incidents and nobody has been written up. So, this kind of crap will keep on happening. Our ship is sinking fast. Many things have been discussed about why IBC is in sinking ship it can't seem to right. From poor management to products that are NOT what they used to be. I remember when bread was picked up every 48 hours not a week from the day it is first put out. Isn't it amazing that all our probles started when we implemented this 7 day code a few years back. If we are to get this company back on track, we need to get back to what made it the iconic baking system it once was: get back to selling today's bread today! If we get back to selling fresh products, this would remedy a lot of our problems in the marketplace.

Marty, Due to conflict of interest, the Transport Drivers at I.B.C. wish that the Foreman/Hostlers positions be put up for bid on basis of seniority. At this time, there is not a need for Teamster Foreperson due to I.B.C. has ample amount of Distribution managers to take any/ all department responsibilities. There are no responsibilities in the position of Hostler that need being held exclusively by a Foreperson. I.B.C. has three Hostlers in Oakland that do the same job and were bid out on the Transport bid selection on basis of seniority. Currently in Sacramento, lower seniority and Relief Drivers are holding these positions and receiving more overtime hours than Drivers on Transport runs which violate the right to overtime by seniority, as well as premium work schedules. By bidding out these jobs along with the Transport runs would put to rest any question on who is in there because if you have the seniority to get the job, it is rightfully yours without question. This would also be more efficient for I.B.C. in hourly wages. Your time and effort in this matter is greatly appreciated.

To Anonymous Knoxville - I just come to this site to jack with the people I use to work with (mainly kidding them and they know it). You are right I did quit after 20+ years and now I sit on my ass half the time and we work at our own pace the rest of the time, when we feel like it and make just as much money and NO BULLSHIT. Hey Proud in Central Ill. Not a newbie... just a 17 year veteran with a different contract than you. Base+commission+OT. Dumbest thing you ever saw. If sales are slow a guy can just slow it up a bit and equalize his paycheck. Talk about a company hemorrhaging! The problem is that management just assumes that we all do just that...slow down for a bigger pay day. Again I say...get rid of the time clock and even up the playing field if they really want to leave bankruptcy behind. All that time and energy spent threatening their employees could be much better spent focusing on what we really do...sell. Might just be able to get rid of a few more suits while their at it. While we're on it here's another idea. Once the clock is gone let's eliminate one sales day. Friday is a waste of fuel, manpower, etc. I'm not sure what the numbers would look like but take all those trucks off the road say Sunday, wed., and thurs. and there has got to be a huge savings for the company. Personally I would give up a lot more than just the time clock in exchange for 2 days in a row off each week. I'd even give up a paid holiday or two. Somebody at the top needs to think a little more progressively and start telling the Unions how it's going to be for a change. They've never helped me or anyone I know.

Hey salary plus commission, most of us would be happy to be rid of the silly clock. They can keep the measly 5 hours OT. We just want the threats to stop. I don't even have it as bad as the other guys. They're mostly trying to figure out what the company wants from them.
