Comment: Where were you three years ago , just before I quit. Good job !!!! Just quit and go out and vote for Obama. The messiah has all the answers. We are also headed for Socialism. I will now go drink my Obama cool aid and sing Coombaya around the camp fire. Obama's got your taxes err back. Just remember when he and Pelosi repeal the Bush tax cut. That will be your first tax increase , but he does not even have the balls to tell the truth. Remember this quote: " Any government powerful enough to give you everything , can also take everthing away"...
Also, as president he promises to make sure everyone has a Cadillac Escalade and Tax Credit in hand . Even if you did not pay taxes last year.
IT IS WHAT IT IS.....BULLSHIT.... Now get over it and try to do your part ....Do your job, make money for both you and the company! We do have the opportunity to cut the lost wages by selling more product. I know the quality has been poor, but you can only control you're job. Sell DISPLAYS, review the orders, add and cut to your needs, keep stale down. Plus outs have always been a pain in the ass...just part of the job. Go over printouts and see exactly whats Not selling and cut it down. This is STILL a Good JOB and its what YOU make of it. Finally, for all the tough guys out there, be true to yourself and go find another job with this pay and benefits!! No need to stay and be UNHAPPY and Non-Productive. We don"t need YOU! When 95% of you find out you can't find a comparable job then its time to GET TO WORK! You don't have to like it, but IT IS WHAT IT IS !!!

Comment: changetheattitude - Lenexa, You must be Republican trying to convince all they would be just as happy making $140 week less! If your friend is so disillusioned or unhappy making 3 mil yr, he can easily resolve that by simply going back to his $19,000 yr job. To suggest that such a large decrease in wages should have no effect on employee morale is quite simply a pipe dream. It has nothing to do with happiness, but everything to do with providing basic needs for family. |

Comment: This is getting more hilarious with each passing day. The union has really taken care of you guys. First they have negotiated large give backs on your behalf with an outside entity. Then the company, surely with the approval of the outside entity, announces a plan for exiting bankrupcy and taking the company private. With the company private, you will never again have access to the financial details of the operation since there will be no federal filings (other than taxes) or stockholders report. Never again will they have to publish management salaries for you to howl about. Profit sharing? Riiiight!!! Every dime possible will be hidden from view. Just think about it - all the union had to do was let you vote on and approve PTM and none of the rest of this stuff would have ever taken place. |

Comment: hey brock that raise was to shut you up for the time being before you get the ax. listen here fuck nutz, you of all people are not in the plan. you are a mere pawn in the game. your "i will blow you later" to save your job is not going to last. i have more time and experience than you and my job of selling and delivering the product is far more important than your little police work of going out on the market and finding off code stuff. so with that said, for all of us that actually make the company go round, vote as you would and let the chips fall as they may. the so-called fat cats will be weeded out either way. so to you brock i have two words for you.........far-q |

Comment: Don't you people get it? "Happy days are here again". Are you freakin' crazy? The upper management and Teamsters Union will take our $140 paycut and be back at the door knocking in three months. 'Gee it's not working...but if you take another $50 paycut...etc' Those in charge are simply draining the company. Let it die. The major brands such as Wonder and Hostess will always survive. Maybe a new company? That would be great...but your 'yes' vote will only cause you/me pain. Vote 'no' and get it over with. |

Comment: Hodgkins, Is the sarcasim from the pay cut or have you been unhappy about other situations for quite sometime, and I am not refering to work related issues. I am an acquaintance of a man whom after college started a job with a company making 19,000 annually. Now as the CFO of that same company 25 years later makes more than 3 million a year. I know from speaking with this man he is no happier then when he graduated college. He has much more wealth but works much more and has much greater responsibilities. A truely joyful person would be just as diligent working for 19,000 as 3 million. |

Comment: I have been trying to convince a coworker to retire. He has been here for along time and could have retired a few years ago. He is always talking about how he hates this place and how miserable he is, even though he has a gravy job. So not long ago i decided to help him out. I tried telling him to retire now but he refuses to do so. He is a miserable fellow and makes those around him even more miserable. Anyways some of the people we work with have been "encouraging" him to retire also. I think they want him to retire so they can get his job, which would also help me get a better job. They hide his paper work, lie to him about scheduling and do anything they can to make him miserable. I have only been here a couple years and like working here and do not want to see this company close. The problem is he wont retire. He is costing us Alot by his mistakes. Why wont he just retire? |

Comment: Cancer furvivor, Your friend is lucky to be alive. I lost a close friend several years ago to cancer. He left a wife, and 3 children. I watched with tears in my eyes as a family mourned for the loss of the father. The entire student body gathered around the childen to grieve and show there support for them. Your friend needs to realize there is more at stake then just himself. He is the exact same person with missing body parts as he is whole. I am not only the sum of my parts. I am the things that dwell in my heart. The words that come forth from my mouth. And the things that I do to impact others. Tell your friend life is more than then vainity and pride. If it were his children with the cancer and they were too young to make the decision for themselves, what would he chose for them? |

Comment: I have a Close Friend who has a rare form of Bone Cancer. He has been in and out of the hospltial for 4 years or so now. The doctors told him the cancer was in his right hand. Over the last 4 years he has undergone several treatments and chemotherapy. The treatmenst were very panful and even made him Very sick. The good thing is the Chemotherapy worked, and the Doctors say his Cancer is in remission! He might even be released from the hospital soon! There is one small problem the doctors say that even though he looks and feals healthy his cancer is only in remission and might come back at any time! He is very worried about this as the last time it almost killed him, and the Doctors told him next time he probably wont be so lucky. The doctors did give him another option, to have his right arm amputated. He has a wife and kids and says he is worried about them, he wont be able to play catch with his son and is afraid his wife will think less of him if he only has one arm. They said with a 99% certainty that if they removed his right arm he would be cancer free the rest of his life! The only problem is my friend is right handed. He rights, eats heck even jerks off with his right hand (or so he told me lol). He is rather stubborn and is refusing to have it amputated. What should be my advice to my Dear Friend? |

Comment: I have been trying to get a response all week! Does anyone out there know what pay cuts the BCTGM Thriftstore girls are taking for their 3rd round of cuts? I worked for IBC for over 11 years, after making 5000,00 less last year than I did 8 years ago between the insurance cost, hour cuts and wage cuts,I wised up and found a job working from home making 2 and a half times what I did working for this company, but I still have friends in the store that depend on this job, so I was checking for them. Maybe if this company could produce a decnt product they wouldn't be in this mess! They blame gas, wheat prices and employee wages put them in this mess. I say it's because they bake buns that crumble into a thousand pieces after you take your first bite or Dry bread or Mouldy bread..I switched to Sara Lee years ago and would NEVER switch back to IBC'S products! |

Comment: KANSAS CITY — U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters today approved a disclosure statement put forth by Interstate Bakeries Corp. that will allow the company to seek creditor approval of its reorganization plan and set the stage for the wholesale baker to emerge from bankruptcy protection. The reorganization plan will be mailed to creditors by Nov. 6 and must be voted on by Dec. 1. Mr. Venters has scheduled a confirmation hearing for Dec. 5, and if the plan is approved, attorneys for I.B.C. said the company would emerge from bankruptcy by Dec. 15. I.B.C., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2004, is expected to receive a $130 investment from Ripplewood Holdings and a financing package of $469 from a group of lenders including Silver Point Capital LP. The company also plans to cancel all existing shares and take the company private.

Comment: It wouldn't matter if Kansas had umemployment insurance or not. I have never had to use it in my 30 years of work. I always left companies in the past on my terms. Hard work, dedication, and a willingness to do as I was asked led to success wherever I worked. You cannot be an authority until you learn to submit to authority. I have never had to do without. I learned a great lesson from my grandfather who in the eighth grade had to drop out of school and get a job to support his mother and two brothers when his father died. He opened his own company later in life and had a dozen employees who relied on him to do his job so they could do theirs. By doing this all involved were successful. Each doing his part to the BEST of his ability no matter what. I try to live by this today even if the circumstances aren't in my favor I never quit but look for opportunity in everything to improve myself and my situation. |

Comment: Hey anonymous from Glendale, I know how difficult things are out there, but you need to rise above the thinking that it is time for the system to take care of me. I also have paid into the system for a long time but have come to realize that I need to be part of the solution not part of the problem. I teach my children to be leaders and independant thinkers not someone who will take the easy way out but someone who will be a trailblazer. I can speak from experience when i write these things because i took the easy way out for a long time not that i was lazy i have always worked hard but following the crowd is the easy way. Be a success Anonymous of Glendale not an imitation You have all you need inside .Your life is what YOU make it. |

Comment: This country is so good. After being out of work due to closing Southern California. Collecting severance pay, then unemployment for 26 weeks and now getting extention for another 13 weeks and after Obama gets elected probably another 13 weeks. Nothing like getting paid from the same system I've been paying into for the last 28 years. |

Comment: Dear Change the Attitude: You are right! Everyone is thinking of the 'end result' as opposed to their job--including management. When I was growing up, I had construction jobs and looked UP to management. They were the ones that taught us and passed on their knowledge and skills. I wouldn'd want any of the knowledge or skills of the supervisors I've had. They're awful. When the company was cutting routes last year, they actually told two drivers they'd be laid off if they didn't take the supervisors job that was open: no education, no learning how to manage people; it was terrible. And therein lies the problem. In any event, you're right but it's too late to change anything. I was just posting because I've been out with an injury and wondered what the 'next' important date was. I sent in my 'NO' ballot. Is there a deadline date or any sort? Thanks for the help. The rest of you out-of-work comedians don't bother to post. |

Comment: In my opinion Anon from Boonville is the only person posting on this site with any form of intelligence. You all rattle on and on about how bad it is working for the company but you chose not to do anything about the situation that you v'e created. I watch the transport drivers daily have accidents by running into other IBC trailers, pulling away from the loading docks without baring in the product only to dump half a load onto the lot to be thrown away. RSR's ordering the wrong amounts which in turn increases the unlocated product. Production workers who have such a lazy attitude about their jobs that they don't even put forth an effort and management with an attitude of doing only the minimum amout required . If everybody took ownership and pride in what they did as a service to the customer instead of thinking of self this company wouldn't be in the trouble that has plagued us. |

Comment: RUDY RODRIGUEZ ; The wetback in you finally came out, that wasn't so hard...was it? I bet you feel much better now that you're finally out of the closet. And to think you wasted all those years pretending to be white. Now that you have embraced your wetbackness and your Mexican heritage, you need to go out and try to bond with your people. You have neglected them long enough. Remember, there's no shame in being Mexican; be proud of who you are. I just hope your people can forgive you. I'm pulling for you amigo. |

Comment: Well, just got back from our meeting and as I have mentioned I am not in the union and first thing they said is I did not need to come and my say has no input so don't open my mouth. That's not word for word just what I got from it. Anyway they are taking $110 a week from base leaving me $93 everything else to stay the same. If I had a vote I would vote NO because that would put me and my route at making around $29000 a year this job is just not worth that. I work 10+ hours a day for this shit to happen? They justify it as prices are going up and if we sell more we can make that back. Management is to take a 8% cut and bakeries have no cut. While I am taking a 20% cut. |

Comment: FLY: Me testy about Volpe? Hardly. Seems you're the one thats a little testy...and yes, a "little testy" is in reference to your "inadequacies". Go back to when I first posted on here and tried to tell you that your own union...the person you paid to represent you...Volpe...was going to sell your ass down the river. Go ahead...go back and find it....you see, I had the previous knowledge and experience to tell you exactly what your union would do to you. but you didn't want to listen...do I intentionally horde it over anyone? Only you...because you truly are a schmuck. From that first day on, I was able to disprove EVERYTHING you ever said on this site....and that fact just eats at your insides because you've discovered that there is someone in this world who has a set big enough to call you out and prove that you are nothing more than a mindless turd who has to have someone tell you what to think and what to say...otherwise, you couldn't exist. Remeber all your posts about Jung this and Jung that, and Yucaipa this and Yucapia that? And Volpe this and Volpe that? At the end of the day, what happened? Volpe shit the bed, negotiated you a piece of shit contract, Yucaipa disappeared faster than Volpe lied, and Jung STILL sits at the helm of IBC. But then, the problem isn't you....right Fly Shit? |

Comment: Oh come on Boonville, you already know the answer to that just like everyone on this site. This job has traditionally had one of the lowest turnover rates in any industry, Most are staying not because they are lacking the qualifications for other employment, they are staying because of the time they have invested. Can I personally find a job with benefits and pay that match IBC? You bet I can. But I would give up at least 3 weeks vacation time and the opportunity to retire in 4 years before the age of 50. I will still have an opportunity to pull a double retirement. I am not unlike many in IBC's workforce. I dare say that the average RSR has some where close to 17 years of service within the company or industry. Besides as an individual why jump off the ship because someone says it is going to sink? I'll be smart and wait untill the lifeboats are dropped rather than tread water unneccessarily. I said last year when all this started it could be well over a year before this is settled and it honestly could drag on past February. The company has a contingency plan in place as do I. I only hope that the others in this company are just as smart. |

Comment: NO WAY: Face it...most of the people still with IBC are there because they either lacked the foresight to get out or have tried but were unsuccessful. I have a challenge for you...go out in Biddeford and the surrounding area. Look for every job that your experience working for IBC has qualified you for. Then post on this site which of those jobs will pay you even 75% of your current wage at IBC or benefits at the same level/cost that you have now. You will thern understand why most IBC employees aren't leaving the Company at the present time and are rightfully concerned about their futures and what choices they REALLY have in how to vote. |

Comment: Hey FLY...what don't YOU understand about the FACT that YOUR asshole UNION negotiated with an OUTSIDER...NOT the company...and SCREWED YOU OVER in the process? What don't you UNDERSTAND about a 130Mil INVESTMENT not gaining OWNERSHIP of IBC? What don't you UNDERSTAND about RIPPLEWOOD already COMMITTING that Jung will REMAIN in charge of IBC POST-bankruptcy? Time and time again you have proven to everyone who has ever read anything on this board that you are nothing more than a fucking tool with nary an ounce of brains. Haven't you gottn tired of making an ass of yourself? Or is it that by posting meaningless garbage and trying to get everyone pissed at you (which you have succeeded in doing, I'll grant you that) is the only meaningful thing in your life and makes up for your other "inadequacies"? |

IBC is not going to close down as the teamsters threat they will. maybe our biggest problem is not IBC. ITS THE UNION. We will fall so far behind we cant look forward. convince me besides being afraid of your job. As to why we should agree to a $7000 cut now. have self respect! THIS WHOLE CRAP IS WRONG! STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR OURSELVES. THE TEAMSTERS DONT GIVE A CRAP. WE KNOW THAT NOW! AGAIN THE CONCESSIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN EQUAL NOT JUST ABOUT ALL FROM US. not telling you how to vote! but i will vote NO open your eyes |

Comment:
For a number of reasons IBC has turned toxic to their dying workforce and brand names. The world around them changed into a global gameboard over a period of some twenty years while their shortsighted leadership chose to enrich themselves rather than to change IBC to meet their new world of savvy consumers. Now we see them lying and trying to play catchup without success! Why? Because in today's savvy world, you snooze...you lose... forever! |

Comment: To management: Even if you took a 5% paycut five years age, we took a paycut two years ago. This is time for a second round of paycuts, not including any raises that we should have had. Fair is fair, if we get cut so should management. |

Comment: To Anon in Denver: If you have a problem with your proposed contract, take it up with your local union officials. They negotiated this agreement with Ripplewood, not IBC. As far as management taking a pay cut, All management took a 5% pay cut almost 5 years ago. While your route was running more and more dollars. Money that could have went to wages, may have also went to health and welfare or to pension. When an agreement is negoitated, the company gives a dollar amount increase they can afford to give for each employee weekly. Just because your local union didnt passs the whole increase on to you as wages, isnt IBC's fault. If you think the only thing that increases is the cost of your wages in keeping you as an employee, youre sadly mistaken. Plese know what you are talking about if yoiure going to blame IBC for your woes in life. |

Comment: To the DIPSTICK in COLUMBUS, OH: Don Mann doesn't wanna hear you talking against the concessions he's in favor of like that. Is that the way you repay his silly ass for all the stupid shit he tried to fight about with IBC? Seems to me that you should be a little more grateful to him for the way he tried to fight Eilers. Wasting everyone's time and not worrying about what really mattered because he couldn't figure out what that was because his steward was nothing but a liar. |

Comment: No, they won't shut anything down before Thanksgiving. That's definitely a scare tactic...real nice coming from the people you PAY to represent you, huh? Look for IBC to take the concessions to the court and have the court enforce it...it'll be your christmas present. There will be no further negotiations, though....Teamsters International knows it, Ripplewood knows it, SilverPoint knows it, and Monarch knows it. Teamsters will not be able to oppose the Court enforcement of the contract (for proof of this, see Phila. BCT) to convince the Judge to not enforce it. Face it guys, whether you like it or not, those concessions are what you are going to end up with. |

Comment: vote no ! have any management people taken a pay cut ? remember when IBC said it had cut 225 middle management people ? and yet we still have the same number or more ! here in Denver they cut Brian Worgo and a couple of months later we got Jim Rojo.? what kind of cut is this ? and on top of that we now have 4 account mgrs. when we only had 2 before. and remember that the BCT got a raise! yes they had to fork over an extra $10.00 for med. but they got a raise ! when is the last time you saw a raise ? why would IBC have to seek comparable concessions from others when they will get all they need from us RSRs? the union thinks that Ripplewood is their friend , I got news for them - there isn't a company on earth that likes labor unions .the teamsters thought that ripplewood help them get rid of Jung. but Ripplewood made it clear in their commitment letter that Jung would stay .and on top of that remember that the teamsters also will allow path to market in august 2010. so now we take a 140.00 per wk cut and in less than 2 years we take another 50 % cut . if you vote yes on this , you are a mealy mouth coward ! to worried about the here and now , instead of the future. remember the people that first brought in the union ! they risked more than you!!! |

Comment: Remember the company offer that the union wouldn't even let you vote on? You know, the one that changed the distribution system over a period of time that the union said would never work and that they would get a better offer? The one that was made whem So. Calif still had bread sales? The one that did not involve any hedge funds? Remember that? Learn from it. Every time the union tells you that they will force the company into a better deal, the members get hosed.. Think about it. Does it make sense that the company would want to implement a distribution system nation wide if it did not work in test markets? Does it make sense that the company would want to purposely make employees furious? Does it make sense that union leadership would be so stupid and so stubborn that they would not even negotiate with the company? Is there even any assurance that if this current proposal, not even negotiated with the company, is voted "yes" that the company will accept it? Your union has screwed up this entire process and in doing so has already cost 1300 members their jobs. God only knows how many others will also lose a job before the union is through. |

Comment:
Sometimes we need to "look outside the bun" to discover the absolute truth in situations like IBC and their labor unions. And, today we find this needed source of truth in our newspaper headlines on "Killings in Kansas City," wherein we find they are now leading our nation in homicides not only this year but in several other's as well. Why? Local unemployment, lack of education, poor anger-management and easy access to guns! Their worst ever year on record was in 1993 with 153 homicides. In 2005 they had 127 killings but 2008 could well top that figure now. Three of this year's homicide cases involved not one but multiple victims! It would seem that the locals living and working in Kansas City could recognize that their fellow citizens are dying like flies for no other reason but human stupitity and lack of resolve and talent by their city and business leaders. Which brings us now full circle to IBC and their useless labor union leaders alike who can't find their ass with both hands tied behind them. |

To close together bad side of town. I will prob make $35,000 this year total and its getting cut $110 week? insurance going up? Plus paying union dues. I will not make anything. |

Comment: Some of you on here ahve a very nasty mouth, So I guess its you that did'nt care about a company thats payed you, If the vote for the agreement ends up No ibc will shut its doors and reopen under another name and it will not be hireing back unions members and all you complain wineing people will be without a job and that is what will happen, So all your foul mouth and complaining and this site will no longer be needed. think about that, and you can belive me I have a good job here at ibc which was cbc and before that itt I been though 3 buyouts and I do know this is the real deal, So after 35 years I'll retire even though I rather work I find it a real shame that any ibc person would post stuff like ived seen here
what that kind of idc attude is no wonder we ended up like this. its so sad. |

Comment: fly... I am at Wilmington Depot I believe its teamsters but not positive. We don't have a union rep or anything. From what I am reading I got to vote yes as I have a family to support. Id like to know exactly whats being cut though. I got one suck ass route though 20+ stores a day and can barely break $1000 so I am not making much to begin with. |

Comment: read the proposal about reopening so cal>>>>ibc does the study as to feasability to reopen and it is there decision alone not the TEAMSTERS>>>>>they won't reopen they lost to much market share>>>>>THEY JUST WANT THE VOTES>>>i feel bad for all in so cal >>>but im voting NO and i'll be in the same boat (a sinking ship)they are trying to recoup way TO much money from us workers.so let the chips fall ,whoever buys the brands will need experienced workers because they can't pick all that up w/ there current workforce.just like hostess coudn't handle drakes when they took it over we lost millions of the bat .what can i say vote no.i need a job too ,but to give these jerks more money HELL NO!!!!! |

Comment: Hi to you all...It's hard to beleive it's been one year today Oct 27 that we have we were laid off. We layoffs Wonderbread and Hostess drivers are a tough bunch. We must dust ourselves off and continue on. We are all hoping this companys does something. If you moved on great, or you moved on and will return great. I would say most of the drivers( and you know who you are) are hardworking and remember cream rises to the top so you will be GOLD to your company , if we get called back or another one ,if they are Lucky enough to get you. Hang in there we have all had a rough year but this one will be better. I know that whomever gets me will have a better worker than before because now I appreciate my job even more than I did. I am still looking for that right job but have really enjoyed my freedom, family time, and no schedule this year. I am praying for all the laid off drivers for success in whatever you do. Whatever you end up doing will be great. Keep a positive attitude and remember it all happens for a reason. Maybe some were suppose to move on I am not sure. Good Luck , Be positive, Be strong, Hold your head high................Your Job doesn't define you......smile ............... Devoted HO HO |

Comment: to all of the socal people laid off. I am one of you and I just wonder how truthful the Co is. an earlier post said "By the Company saying that they'll "look into" reopening SoCal, it gives 1300 employees a solid reason to vote "yes", even though there is no guarantee that IBC will actually reopen SoCal. but it's 1300 favorable votes that the Teamster International and the Company are already ahead before the voting ". It makes me think maybe the Co. is useing us. It's not like the Co never lied to us. Just something to think about before you vote. |

Comment: Does anyone remember why the stock tanked? The company withheld the earnings report allowing Sullivan to retire and cash in his stocks. When they finally announced that our quarterly earnings were not meeting projections it started a landslide in our stock prices, multiple class action lawsuits and the only way out of the mess was BK. Let's not mention that during Alvarez tenure we were fined by the SEC for not reporting funds that we were putting in Work Comp reserves. ( at the time we were self-insured, how convenient). |

http://www.kccllc.net/documents/0445814/0445814081004000000000005.pdf////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Hey, Needledick (spelled F-L-Y)...is this what you're talking about? As I read this, a new board will be nominated by the EQUITY INVESTORS ONE of them beling Ripplewood, as there are also TWO thers: SilverPoint and Monarch Capital. That means, asshole, that Ripplewood won't be appointing anone, they will have a ONE THIRD say in who five board members are. Also, I see a VERY interesting sentence dictating that Craig Jung will maintain a seat on the NEW Board of Directors. Why don't you give it up and quit trying to spin things? 130Mil isn't buyiing any "power" for Ripplewood. Geez....sometimes a battle of knowledge against you is like fighting an unarmed man. |

Comment: To the chick in Indio, It's not my store you went into, but in there defence, Mgmt has been on a slale or returns kick. Company is losing millions every month, and they want the stale down even if it means lost sales. If a store only sells $100 a week, Does it make since to run $100 with 15% stale or run $100 with 5% returns. You dont need to cram the shelfs full, thats mostly to please the customer, and IBC has forgotten about customer service. See how much service they get when they cut the reps pay $140 a week. With all due respect, you have been away for a while, you would be better off persueing that school teachers position, since you have a degree in all. |

Comment: Hey asshole....spelled FLY....WHO went to the court and announced a deal between IBC and the Teamsters? Was it Ripplewood, or did the Company announce a deal with the Teamsters? By the way...you STILL thinking that your Teamsters did you right? Also, where you still coming up with a new BOD and Jung and Management out? Sorry, the Teamsters couldn't negotiate a deal like that. Also, 130Mil isn't buyiing control of IBC. Not by a long shot. I'm really starting to agree with others on this site....you really are an intrangient little prick who lives in his momma's basement. You run around here agreeing that you were screwed by your own union, only to come back ten minutes later and say the opposite. Seems to me that if some of your Teamster "brothers' get their hands on you that you're the "dead man walking". |

Comment: Actually, WAYNE, I would know...go back and read the posts I shared with someone else a few days ago...contact the National Labor Relations Board. They would be HAPPY to discuss how the Teamsters International violated about three different labor laws by negotiating a contract with someone other than the company, engaged in surface bargaining, and bargained in bad faith with the COMPANY. You see, the International was REQUIRED by LAW to negotiate with the Company. They did not. Instead they bargained with an outsider who had no sayso or right to speak on behalf of the Company. And to top it off, they did a real bang-up job of getting you a "better" deal, huh? |

Comment: WILDER: All depends what the seniority language says. Potentially, employees laid off from other closed facilities can also vote. It's a price you've paid, whether you agree with it or not, for accepting union representation as a way of life. Why do you think unions today represent only 12% of America's workforce? Not only do companies not want them, employees don't want them, either. Which is why the Unions and the Democratic Party are trying to get the Employee Free Choice Act passed. It is merely a tool to make it EASIER for a Union to claim representation rights to a workplace, thereby forcing represnetation on employees, whether they want it or not. They don't WANT employees to have a VOTE in whether a Union represents them or not. You think there's problems in America's economy today? wait and see what happens if EFCA, higher payroll taxes, and Obama's "spreading the wealth" plans take effect. If companies are forced to accept unions, if companies are forced to pay higher payroll taxes, the first cuts employers are going to make is going to be in the number of people they employ. |

Yes I rather have the court force me to take this contract than to have the union pass it.. That was when this shit company ever gets out of brankruptcy we can sue them for misinterpretation and force them to renegotiate the contract.. And as for thos 1300 assholes in cali who get to vote.. FUCK THEM.. What about the other plants they have closed around the U.S. do they get to vote as well since they are laid off or do they not count because IBC never said they would look into opening up there area
////First of all, WILDER, once the contract goes into effect, you are stuck with it. You won't be able to sue IBC for anything, The only one you could sue would be the Teamsters. IBC would be untouchable, and would not be required to renegotiate anything. Your only option is to act against the negotiations process and the misrepresentation BEFORE you're forced to accept the contract. but you will still have a hard row to hoe. You will have to prove that you were misrepresented, which is made all the harder because of the fact that Teamster members stood by and watched, KNOWING all of this was going on and failed to challenge the International when it was happening. As for SoCal vote, look once again to your Union contract for that little piece of injustice. It's those contracts which allow them to keep their seniority for a number of years following layoff that allows them to vote. Why do you think they weren't paid severance? Don't you think that it could have been part of the plan? By the Company saying that they'll "look into" reopening SoCal, it gives 1300 employees a solid reason to vote "yes", even though there is no guarantee that IBC will actually reopen SoCal. but it's 1300 favorable votes that the Teamster International and the Company are already ahead before the voting even starts. |

boonie, why are you back?Get fired again? This site is addicting isn''t it?I know your a company man and all but whats your take on what we all think is bad union representation.Do you think it's been done fairly?Did Volope screw us all or did he really try to save our jobs. For a guy like yourself, who's well off,the cuts probably wouln't matter to you,but for most rsr, this is a big hit.Believe me or not,but this cut puts me at about the $36,000 range.Nobody is buying Hostess cake anymore.like i stated before,im inbetween little debbie and enntemans, thier stuff is still selling very well while ours sits.my boss keeps telling me to cut back.i'm only doing like 5,400 a week as it is how much more can i cut back. /////Nope, didn't get fired again, or when I left IBC. I left because I received a much better offer than what IBC was providing....I don't work weekends...Mon to Fri, in upper management. Do I think your union screwed you? Yep. What surprised me was how all of you are acting so surprised!! Look back through my posts,,,clear back to when the Teamsters teamed up with Burkle and Yucaipa and tried an end-around with Allied Trucking. They did the SAME damn thing!! Exactly!! Went to an outside group (Burkle/Yucapia), negotiated a contract, and lo- and behold, it was WORSE than what Allied Trucking was asking for!! Same thing happend to you here. Volpe went outside the Company and managed to get you a WORSE deal than what you would have had with the Company. Look CLOSELY at what Volpe got for you. With the exception of YOU giving up MORE money than what IBC asked for, what else did you get as a result of Volpe negotiating with Ripplewood instead of IBC? Job security? Hardly...PTM was the potential cause of a loss of job security....and PTM is still coming. If any of you EVER expected that you would fare BETTER with concessions once the Teamsters failed to reach an agreement with the Company, you were truly FOOLISH. I said that it would only be WORSE, and damn, if I wasn't right. And don't think that the escalators in the contract will ever get you back to where you were....it won't. Ask Mr. Volpe how many companies he has negotiated concession packages with over the years and how many of those subsequent negotiations ever got back what had been lost through the concessions. SCREWED/ You better believe you were screwed.

Stupid is the descriptive term used for describing IBC today, folks! The more you have of this choice subject, the more you're promoted. This human affliction is also known as the Peter Principal wherein you are constantly promoted at work, until you reach a level of total and complete incompetence. Moreover, it has nothing to do with those people who are caught up in the wash of such things by doing nothing more than just holding down a job in America. And, if there is also a labor union in your workplace , then you already have a scoreless two strikes, two outs and in your last inning, against you! Why? Because it's like being deathly ill and going to your doctor for lifesaving help, when in fact it's this same doctor who knowingly mistreats you as well. Who can you trust, you ask? Try looking in the mirror while asking aloud this same question and then listen until you get an answer in return! That's right. It's you baby and only you! |

Comment: DIRTY: You have a choice here: help the Company that YOU built back to profitability and continued success. Or get off the boat. You're right...it's NOT "fair" that you are being asked to pay for Sullivan's crime. But it is what it is. IBC simply does not have the financial resources to bail itself out of this mess without the help of its workforce. If IBC would have been able to "right the ship" without concessions...without changing delivery methods, etc. don't you think they would have done it? Three things are keeping IBC in BK: ingredient and fuel costs that have gone through the roof; the shit economy; and labor costs. Only ONE of those can actually be controlled by IBC. Guess which one it is. And if IBC doesn't control it, they don't survive. It's as simple as that. Think about this for a moment: you're being asked to pay what, 20 or 25 dollars a week for your medical? Most employees of other companies have been paying upwards of 5 to 10 TIMES that amount for YEARS. The days of free medical coverage are long gone. Gone down the same antiquated paths of specific skilled trades classes. Look at the steel and auto industries. Their skilled trades classifications are now a combiined skilled trade. Not the antiquated one job: you have mechanical skilled trades who do welding, electrical, and machine work instead of just one discipline. In the auto industry, where one machinist used to run one machine, machines are now set in "cells" with one machinist running three or four machines. |

What burns me if you must know is when I go into a stop out here in Indio and the bonappetit has 3 flipping displays in a circle K and Hostess can't even fill up there inline rack ,And you wonder why this company is where it is don't get me started. If I was there it would be full.........Quote Encouraged to move on and let it go but sometimes one is prevented from moving on........Dude................ I will be back |

Comment: This whole debacle is entirely Charles Sullivans fault. The buying spree that he went on in the 90's is like the mortgage mess the country is currently facing. When he retired and stayed on as a consultant only added injury to the problem. 500 million in loans with no vision. Most of these trucks went out with a full load of regional brands but he sought to centralize this taking too much time to do it, hence the demise. The bailout will come and yet the company has no real vision for the future. |

Comment: IN THE KNOW: WHO was running IBC when it went into BK in 2004? What was caught up in a stock options issue that resulted in his retiring from IBC? When the SEC investigated IBC's books after the Sullivan debacle, it was discovered that the books were so poorly kept that IBC couldn't tell what it had and what it didn't. It was Sullivan's management decisions that caused IBC to fall into BK. That was followed by a poor decision by the PREVIOUS board to bring on Alvarez. Then, a group of the CREDITORS forced an election of a NEW Board of Directors who brought Jung in. Jung was doing what was NEEDED to try to keep IBC solvent and able to move toward an exit from BK. The economy tanking hasn't helped IBC's case, either. IBC WILL end up centralized, simply because it outgrew itself. Sullivan's plan of buying up the competition had one FATAL flaw: he tried to keep too many of the brands intact. He ended up competing with HIMSELF, which is never a good business decision. To say that Jung is responsible for where IBC is at is assinine, and proves that you're really NOT "in the know". |

Comment: Sullivan didn't put us in this shape Boonville there is no way your gonna make Jung look like a great man, because he isn't. Chuck did what he thought was right and we were making money from sales on our product then, now this collage educated dumbasses came and standarized all formulas, causing the product to go from great to piss poor, and the PEOPLE in charge can't SEE THIS why BECAUSE JUNG WANTS TO RUN THIS COMPANY INTO THE GROUND, because once he wanted to buy it, but had no funds to do so. Ask chuck sullivan he can tell you, jung was trying to get the funds up, he asked people from pepsi to help him, but they said no the company was too large to purchase at that time, well look now they want to centralize the business. Why so jung CAN talk his people in funding him!!! yes it is true, and you know it is BOONVILLE!!!!!!! of all people you know it is true, you worked so close with him, and you yourself said HE WANTED to centralize operations!!!!! that is why, and you know it!!!! why so much talk about selling parts of the company off. get real Boonville, you think we know nothing, but we know more than you realize!!!! don't we Boonville |

Comment: SNAKE OIL: Pick your poison: a "NO" vote and have the court force the contract, or a "YES" vote and reluctantly accept it. It's your choice, because those are your only options. IBC isn't going to liquidate; Venters would force the concessions before he's forced to turn the pensions over to the PBGC. Get used to it. BUTTERNUTBOB: Not sure I follow you, unless you are saying that IBC management is actually HIDING money and pocketing it. That's pretty hard to accomplish, especially when the actual books for IBC are independently audited by the COURT. It would be virtually impossible for them to do what you are suggesting. What IBC files as P & L statements has to hold up to independent auditing as part of the BK proceedings. Its' really amazing some of the things you people try to come up with in an effort to appease yourselves. What happened to cause IBC to fall into BK happened. there was nothing you were going to do about it then, and there is nothing you are going to do about it now. Your only choices are to continue employment with IBC on IBC'S terms, or go find yourself another job. You can rant and rave and scream and holler and pray all you want to, but it isn't going to change one thing: your employer is still calling the shots. Your employer will continue to call the shots. Accept it or move on. |

Comment: Boonville, One other thing that could be said, even though it will not matter to most union guys, is that much of the bonuses paid to upper level mgmt. was in the form of stock options which, even if exercised, are virtually worthless now.
Those that did not bail out in a timely manner are in pretty bad shape. Your point about all union employees being paid equally in spite of ability or effort is exactly why I got out of the union after 5 years with CBC. Best move I ever made but I had confidence in my abilities. |

Comment: BUTTERNUTBOB: Here's a few facts for ya': first, those who "caused" this mess are long gone. Chuck Sullivan HIMSELF caused all of the problems. Everyone workiing under Sullivan was the same as you: they had a job to do and someone giving them direction. They had no more say in what was going on than you did. They had the same choices you did: follow orders or get out. Many were collecting a handsome paycheck, so why get out? The Management team that is here NOW is trying to clean up the mess left by Sullivan. Unfortunately, they (and by "they" I mean the Company) require additional cash influx in the form of labor concessions in order to do so. It is a common tenet of business that those at the top make significantly much more than those at the bottom. Fair? Nope, but it's the way of the world. Bosses are paid just for that reason. to be bosses. If you want to make money like the bosses, become one. You have got to keep in mind that your worth is tied to an outside entity: your union. The Company could not, even if they agreed that you are worth more than you are making, pay you more, because of the union's insistence on one wage for one job. That is one thing that companies who do not have unions have the ability to do: pay you based on your contributions to the company and your worth. Just look around you: I'm sure you can pont to at least one guy in your barn and say: "He's a worthless piece of shit and it's a shame that he gets paid the same as I do." But the Company has no choice, thanks to your union contract. As for getting back what you've lost through concessions? Don't count on it. Historically, unions that have lost through concessions NEVER get back to that level. As for the person from NJ regarding your pension: what's it going to be worth if it's dumped to the PBGC because the company liquidates? |

Comment: In Response to KENS LETTER !! We have purchased your 100% Whole Wheat Bagels by Global Bakeries Inc. 5 times over the last month. 3 out of the 5 times, the bagels were moldy yet the expiration date was 3 to 5 days away from the date of purchase. The mold was a white in color and when accidently digested caused stomach ache / diarrhea. KEN, if you know what the mold looks like which is white as you described, I think I would quit eating them. By the way, how do you "accidentally" eat them??
I can assure you getting them once can happen to anyone but you are obviously buying them at least once per week to have purchased 5 in one month. My suggestion to you would be : if it bothers you, quit doing it !!!! LOL |

Comment: Here's something for all of you saying to "vote NO" to think about: About a year ago another local (Philadelphia BCT) refused to accept concessions. They voted what...two or three times? They kept saying "NO". Finally, IBC went to the court and had the court implement the concessions package on the local. Even though the Local wanted to arbitrate the court's implementation of the package, they have not done so yet. Know why? Because an arbitrator cannot overrule an order of the court. Now think about this...with the BCT contract, the Company's argument was that they negotiated with the BCT and the International was in favor of the concessions package. The court agreed with the Company. Go ahead and vote "NO". Vote "NO" all you want, because the outcome will be the SAME as the BCT. Do you think for a minute that when IBC presents its argument: "The Teamsters negotiated this contract with Ripplewood and presented it to us as a Company...we accepted it. The Teamsters can not argue that they did not recommend the package to their members, they cannot argue that it isn't in the 'best interests' of the Company and their members, and they cannot argue that they didn't agree to it". Venters ruling will be to implement the concessions package. And the Teamsters will have been led to slaughter ONCE AGAIN by their own leadership. Go ahead....vote "NO" all you want....once again, IBC has won out....you'll have given MORE than the Company asked for......so...tell me again...just how exactly is it that being represented by a Union was beneficial to YOU? |

Many are very bitter and cant stand Ibc any longer for the way they have been treated thru all of this. They have ruined many good people, they wouldn't come back in a millon years. Those people are not employeed with IBC anymore and the only thing there union rights involve is just the ability to come back as a recall from a lay-off... Doesnt matter if there dues are up to date or they have a withdrawal card. They dont have a plant or any working operations there so theres no job for them to be called back for...Then if thats the case all worker's who have retired from IBC and got withdrawal cards as well should have the right to vote on this as well since they got a withdrawal card |

Comment: Brock; gotta tell you, You don't become more intelligent when you are promoted. Your speech is never motivating and with that "TITAL" it doesn't make you a leader. You need to look behind you, if there's no one following you, your not a leader. Anyone with power has a great responsibility on how to use it, you are abusing yours on how you talk to and about your RSR's. Real leaders are readers. Have you read anything worthwhile lately? |

Of course they will all vote yes. WERE DONE. Expect to lose $140 A WEEK. There will be a class action suit when this happens. |

I came in today at 3am and was out until 1:45pm.. Did I put a full day in? And btw around 5 oclock I'm going back to my Walmart to back call it |

Comment: Path to market is coming SOON! The company is preparing to begin as soon as they exit bankruptcy. Don't worry about the $140 wk., worry about your job. This contract we are voting on is a joke. IBC has not even agreed to it ( nor will they ), they just told the union they would consider it. IBC has already moved on to plan B. |

In case you missed it, President Bush has been very busy during his last few months in office by handing over the few remaining jobs in American to his favorite third-world nation's. As an American citizen, I cannot abide his continued actions of giving our nation and its' citizens welfare over to his good buddies overseas! This to me is the ultimate act of treason! If this is what the Republican party condones and the Democratic party allows, then we need to get busy building a new party for America that we common people can live with. |

Comment: Lookiig in, Glendale CA: Please don't be a cynic. I do believe that being management means getting things done through people. We were put into management because of our excellent work habits and capacity to take on more tasks. The company uses us to whip salesmen into shape. They need to be pushed and motivated to accomplish that. We are just doing our JOB!!! The lazy will be gone. ACORNS INTO OAKS. |

Comment:
Does this story sound familar or what, folks? Hospital Partners of America filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week and then hired Alvarez and Marsal to provide them with management and restructuring services. HPA also appointed A&M's front-man (aka lier-in-chief)) Joseph Bondi to be their CEO and chief restructuring officer. For those not familar with HPA, they developed and managed hospitals in partnership with physicians who acting together, helped to drive-up the cost of healthcare in America for you and I to face down or die from! The point here is that this entire bankruptcy dance is a planned event done solely to "hide the money" and "to then shed their responsibility." HPA also owes (its two unsecured creditors) Medical Properties, $43.2 million and Silverpoint Capital, $35 million. You remember Silverpoint don't you! A&M drained off IBC's assets then passed it off to JUNG who is now attempting to first gut it, then to pass it on to RIpplewood,Silverpoint and their buddies. It's all a scam to hide the money and then move on to their next "happy meal" at the expense of America! The same country and the people they like to screw with best because they like the smell of bankruptcy and rotting flesh! |

Comment: TO LOS A./CA MILLBROOK, the latestest with us is this.Yes we have been dragging this whole mess for one year october 27. We are all suppose to get voting ballots sent out on October 22( go to teamsters.local 166.com press staff page then manuel scroll down and will take to interstate updates) Once the votes are in by nov. 12 then they will determine our outcome.I went to meeting all the way in LA...anyone with questions could have been there??? They said if we vote no we liquidate we don't go back to the tables and try again . If we take the cuts ripplewood wood takes over get us back in the game at end of dec or first of Jan. Then we are out of the bankrputsy mess then they can bring the bread back and do combo routes..It sounds simple but not. If you have a job keep doing what your doing. The layoffs 1300 of us get to vote and actually see a little glimmer of hope. The packet should arrive soon if you don't get one contact your local. It's a shame the people that abuse thid site. If we could work as a team a IBC unit we could all come back and do our jobs.If your unhappy anyone driving and don't want to take the cuts I welcome you to move on .There are lots of us that would love to work cut or no cut. Good Luck to all please vote take the time to read the ballots and make a smart vote. GO TEAM Southern Cal Hostess |

Comment: Loans is OKd to Twinkies maker
A bankruptcy judge has approved an investment agreement that would provide $600 million in loans and other capital to reorganize Interstate Bakeries Corp.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters approved the package, paving the way for the Kansas City, Mo., maker of Hostess Twinkies and Wonder Bread to continue trying to exit more than four years of Chapter 11 protection.
WE NEED TO VOTE NO.......LET THEM GO BACK TO THE TABLE FOR A BETTER OFFER. |

Comment: To Anon in Jacksonville........ "Does management have to take a pay cut?" Management did indeed take a 5% pay cut 4 and a half years ago. Look at your check stub. Are you making more or less than you were then? As for Teamsters taking a pay cut. That agreement was reached between Ripplewood and the Teamsters International. If you have a problem with it, go speak to your BA. IBC had nothing to do with that agreement. So dont blame IBC for it. |

IBC needs to dump you mgmt. slugs & get back to the basics of selling bakery products . By the way : on monthly operating reports , what exactly do the $30mill. per mo. "other -expenses " mean ? Comment: Went to the Teamsters meeting yesterday. Sat through about 1 1/2 hr. reading of the new contract telling how bad we're getting screwed. Two choices: vote yes and have a job or no and start looking. to top it off, they then wanted us to sit through a political talk telling us the Bush was the anti-Christ and Oboma was the messiah.....I walked out. I swear, if Adolf Hitler came back and ran for office with a "D" behind his name; Hoffa would be standing there with a bunch of teamster sheeple, grinning and having a picture taken to send out to us. What a waste! |

Comment: Team Brock? You waste to much time on here trying to promote yourself to the "NEW" ownership. Your no different than the rest of the meat heads trying to run this company. Everything for your mouth is self-serving, if you understand how to really manage people you must be their servant. Such as asking what you can do to help them increase sales. Your "GIVE 2" phrase won't fly with management that can see through you for what you are. I'm sure you have your position because of who you know not by what you know. Just do the job your suppose to do for the right reasons. Remember, all that really counts in our lives is our character and integrity. |

Comment: you are right !! Our quality is awful and just keeps getting worse. Ex-customers stop me almost every day and tell me how they won't buy butternut anymore because they have gotten poor quality bread and buns too many times. Then they tell me they have tried one of our competitors product and like it better anyway so even if we fix the problems they won't buy our product again anyway. It is not going to get any better!!! Not being a doomsayer just telling you what people are saying.. |

Comment: Los Angeles, CA(Hostess): You work 12 hrs. a day. It is 1:30P.M. central time here. That makes it 11:30 A.M. in CA. So you are telling me you started working Wednesday PM.for your Thursday route, in order to get your 12 hrs. a day in. So you go back to work the same day you just finished? HAVE A NICE DAY!!! |

Comment: TEAMBROCK, I am already working 12 hours per day. And no, I am not taking 2 hour luches. If the company would support the rsr's a little better maybe we wouldn't mind working so hard. But don't treat us like dirt, then tell us we're not working hard enough. Feel free to ride with me and show me how I can be more efficient. |

Comment: I was wondering if anyone knows what cuts the BCTGM thriftstore clerks are taking for our third round of cuts. After over 11 years I gave up on the company and found a much better paying job. I made 5000.00 less last year than I did 8 years ago after they cut my wages, hours and raised insurance. I am just checking for my friends that stil depend on this job.I fill in for them once in awhile but, the cuts really don't effect me any longer. |
