Unethical? How is it unethical for someone at G.O. to actually care enough to communicate incognito to folks that are being either misled or not told things they really ought to know? What's unethical is the way this company's mis-managed and the way the folks that form the infrastructures of production and distribution are treated in this matter.

CMON BOONIE RESPOND!! Why are you leaving? Did Jung want you to post things like...."the outer bounderies of the company are going to be sold to other companies...but they don't want our employees." OR...."I heard some disturbing news today...I will let you all know when I find out." Is this what Jung hired you to do?? OR, WERE YOU BUSTED... DUDE?? It was totally unethical...whether Jung knew it or not...for a Company official to speak on this site. And, if Jung put you up to it...that is the most unethical, immoral, and totally unprofessional way to manage a company. YOU NEED TO COME CLEAN DUDE, AND TELL US NOW!!! The people on this site are truly concerned about the truth and their future.

I was an "insider" and still have some contacts and I have opinions but that's all they are. As for Boonie. I certainly gave hints but you don't just name someone while they are employed with IBC. For all I know Jung did not know who Boonie was. Boonie would have to tell us why he left, but I would suspect he felt there was a need. We generally act in our own self interest.

Or, maybe he just got tired of this shit and realized he was on a sinkin' ship. Cmon tell us. But, I'm afraid your an insider also....otherwise you would have told us long ago who Boonie really was. Cmon....come clean.

Jacksonville,Sara Lee has been in Publix down here and growing for some time now.I'v seen IBC shelf space shrinking and SL's getting bigger. Flowers was planning on building a new bakery in a town not far from Orlando, called Groveland. Some deal it was making with Groveland fell through and they squashed the plant, now they own Buttercrust. I think they are in the BCT&GM but not sure,if so I wonder what happened to the contract, if anything.

Flowers bought Buttercrust/Country Hearth in Florida to keep Sara Lee out of Publix in Florida. The only reason this bakery was in business was because they bake Publixs' private label. Publix will not carry Sara Lee because they don't have a bakery in Florida. If anyone buys the Orlando bakery i would suspect it wuold be Sara Lee. If they get into Publix they are going to need rsrs. Hope it happens. At least there might be a job there. Rumor is Weston wants Hostess down here. Can't confirm. Have'nt heard anything about Merita. Merita is strong down here. Weston may be interested.

Glendale, it is losers like you that kill companies. Instead of looking for a better job you are fine with getting unemployment for a year. This shows you have very little motivation to work, and have probably been hurting this company for years. Take your unemployment, and keep digging yourself a hole. If that is all you are good for I feel sorry for you.

I'm so glad this shit hole of a company is finally on its last breath on life support. The Department Heads in Kansas City will of course be laughing all the way to the bank and will deny that it was their fault or doing that killed this company off. I'm glad they closed the Southern California bread plants and gave me my 26 weeks of severance pay, and now I will file for unemployment for 26 weeks and with Congress feeling sorry for us poor out of work soles will extend unemployment benefits for an additional 26 weeks, life is good. Its been nice getting that check from IBC and now it will be nice to get my check from the State of California, life is good. Some of you will transfer to other companies who purchase whats left of IBC, others will not receive severance pay, too bad. Get the orchesta ready for the fat lady to sing her last song. Life is Good.

Deadlines have been extended and missed, promises have been made and broken, blame has been placed and replaced. The almighty dollar is the only thing that seems to matter. Unfortunately for some 20000 good people who want nothing more than to work and be appreciated there are approximately 35-50 people (depending on whose ego is inflated that day) that are making all the wrong decisions and profiting from them. There are two unmistakable truths: Death, Taxes. The fact that IBC was once a great company that is almost dead (and the tax man is coming!). Unfortunately IBC will soon be gone and the family that was, will be stripped completely away. I commend all of you who stayed (be it out of hope for success or lack of ability to get another job at equal pay) but facts are facts and the company is gone. Good luck to all of you looking and for those who are not...you should be.

By September 1, this company will be a small centrally located stand alone company in the heart of the nation. Both sides, east and west will be ripped apart like a union contract going through a shredder. There will be no severance pay; take all due vacation and sick pay as those will be casualties. Good luck to all. The new owners buying the brands will only need a small portion of the IBC employees. The world changed and if you haven't started already, you better start changing now. Good luck to all.

God you people are idiots. The company is not emerging from Chapter 11. There is no money in that for Executive Management or investors. The pieces will be sold. They need lower management and employees to drink the Kool-Aid though. If the truth was known there would be a mass exodus. Who then would be running the bakeries and delivering the product until the sales are finalized. And once and for all, get with it folks, there is a Communication Manager at IBC. HE is listed on the GO employee list. You know him as Mr. Booneville.

Re: Boonville, MO comments
Thank you very much. You are correct! Tampering with a food item is in fact a federal offence. Jurisdiction falls under Weights and Measures. However, in this instance, one must bear the burden of proving intent.
1) The item in question was intended for myself.
2) The item was contained in a lunch bag with my name on it.
3) The item was stored in a common refer box in a common break room.

With all due respect Mr. Man of Wisdom/Mr. Anonymous from Boonville, MO, you must prove I intended to harm. I could quote you a few cases if you like. I have plenty of time on my hands.
Or maybe you could join me for a burger?

Name: Bobby Bluesmeister McGeee Date: 2008-06-27 Location: Location:Sacramento, CA Comment: Many years ago before I retired, I had an issue with someone stealing my lunch everyday, along with several others in my plant. I solved this problem for all of us by purchasing a sandwich from the vending machine at work and a package of Ex Lax tablets on my way home. I ground the twelve tablets up into a fine powder with a mortar and pestle, incorporated the laxative with Thousand Island dressing, spread the concoction onto the sesame seed bun with the juicy burger patty and cheese in between. Put the seemingly innocent hamburger back into the vend package, sealed it with a hot iron, stuffed it in my lunch bag with my name on it as usual. When I got to work, I placed the Boogie Burger in the break room refer box and sure enough, about two hours later my lunch was missing once again. About an hour after that, a coworker was stranded in the bathroom for over an hour before he could get off the pot and go home sick.

I was almost terminated myself when the head Human Resources learned of this. I expressed that I had constipation issues and the hamburger was intended for me.

The gentleman that allegedly ate my lunch, I'm not mentioning any names, (Jerry Walker) soon quit because of all the embarrassment and drama involved.

Most of the old timers still remember my Boogie Burger Drama. :-)

P.S. No bakers were harmed in the execution of this experiment. However, to this day it’s rumored Jerry dislikes Thousand Island dressing.

We all went on to lead somewhat normal lives and lived happily ever after! :-)

Seattle....... Sorry, wish I could give you a solution to the poor quality we, as rsr's, are expected to sell. Product quality is not exactly my expertise but I do know poor quality when I see it and am asked to sell it. It is obvious that this product is not being checked BEFORE it is wrapped and shipped. It is not a formula problem when I regularly see overbaked and underbaked product being passed over, wrapped and shipped. It is the INCONSISTENCY of our products that seems to be the major problem although many customers will readily inform you that the taste is no longer as desirable. These are not sales issues but sales is being being blamed for declining business demand. Whose fault is it when I am trying to sell a loaf of supposedly premium bread for $2.89 along side of a competitors loaf selling for $1.69 and it is obvious just from looking that the quality is better on the cheaper loaf. Boonville said they were going to work on quality issues AFTER emergence from BK as they couldn't afford it now. Try telling that to your remaining customers!

Anon from Denver: I do apologize for the "moronic" comment, as I am somewhat proud to see an intelligent response on this site! You obviously do understand the Seattle route structure, ( as you are correct ) although I have no interest in preclusions of the past, as you had mentioned. The direction we need to move forward in, still seems up in the air though. I am not shocked in the least though, ( albeit dissapointed...no offense) that you are the only respondent. With the many years of experience ( as are claimed ) on this site, one would think that all those that know "how to run the company", would at least have some insight as to how we should proceed. But nothing? Maybe that's why we are heading down the damn toilet?

Seattle: Why should I feel like a moron?? I know what's going on with the company and the consequences of all of our ills over the many years. But, who the hell cares about the past. The future is: the company will be taken apart...if you are on the west you will be employed by Bimbo. If your an exlcusive cake route...you may have a job. If your a bread man...which in Seattle there are none...you may not be around. If your in management...they will keep some. You can continue to dwell in the past....what the "f" does it matter. The real fact is....we've run out of time and the hammer is fallin. Good luck to you "moron." Boonie has only spoke of information that all connected employees know. And if you ahved cared about your future....you have starved and tried to get any information about your future you can. Most of the posters on this site have dwelled in the past and harped on the reasons were in this situation. Drop it!!! It doesn't matter anymore. About the Southeast and East. I have no clue...and I don't care. I work in Denver....and I know my future and possiblities.

Anon from Denver: You will likely feel like an incremental moron, should you ever realize what "Boonie's" posts have eluded to. Perhaps you need to start reading between the lines? And I mean that, in the nicest possible way. The facts are explicitly clear at this point, as the deconstruction of the company as a whole, is evidently looming on the horizon. Can the company as a whole be saved? Not too damn likely. Is the region I am working within likely to remain operational? "Hell yeah, we make money!" Can anyone say they haven't been told that line? Who really does make the money and does it make a difference at this point in time? Do we have a job in 6 months? Can you answer that question? I think we all know what is on the horizon and have the same questions to answer. Any way you look at it, ( tens of ) thousands of people are potentially going to be out of work, with the direction we are heading. I have been through several plant closures and can tell you it is not pretty, nor is the "grass on the other side greener", for most. There has been so much crap posted on here regarding the lack of quailty, yet I have yet to see one suggested resolution to the inquiries, other than go back to the old formula. Anyone within the operational side realizes that this can't be done in this economy...sadly. Again...any thoughts? We can succeed as a whole, or fail in parts. The latter is what we are all doing.

National Headquarters To: All IBC Employees From: IBC Communications Subject: Restructuring Update Date: June 27, 2008 We wanted to update you on our progress to date and clarify any questions you may have about the current state of our restructuring. The bottom line is that we remain committed to our dual path process. This means that we will continue to engage in discussions with multiple parties regarding modifications to our plan of reorganization that would allow IBC to emerge from Chapter 11 as a stand-alone Company. To date we have had a number of productive discussions, however, many issues must still be resolved. It’s a much slower process than any of us would like, but one we still believe can result in the best outcome for our company, for you and for our creditors. At the same time, IBC continues to pursue an orderly sale of all or portions of its assets and businesses in the event our efforts to complete a stand alone plan of reorganization are not successful. We believe this will ensure the best outcome for all involved. Our lenders are also very supportive of the dual path process we have put in place. As you would expect, when they agreed to amend our Debtor-in-Possessions (DIP) credit facility to extend the maturity and increase the borrowing availability they put in place a number of checks and balances. One of these provisions was designed to ensure that we were following the dual path process we outlined earlier this year. That provision required us to provide them by June 30 with a schedule outlining the progress we have made in implementing an orderly sale process. Of course, we intend to fully comply with this requirement. We understand that the uncertainty regarding the outcome of the Chapter 11 process is very challenging for all of us. We sincerely appreciate your continued focus and dedication throughout this process. Please know that we remain committed to sharing information with you as developments occur.

Boonie; I'll concede a portion of my statement to you but not all. Your assertion that 'it's the reason why Teamsters don't get it' is incorrect. We've been fighting a losing battle over the 15 years I've been here. We have supervisors, district managers and some other title no one is sure of, that total approximately $400,000 a year plus bennies for these FOUR people. Therein lies the reason. Yeah, I know the other costs I just didn't add them up. But they are business costs that are encountered by all companies. It's the non-producing management that hurts this company. Good luck to you. I am likely leaving the company myself.

How about fuel, your medical insurance, utilities in your barn, ingredients, bankruptcy costs, worker comp costs, and lest you "forget", your medical expenses since IBC is self-insured in both medical benefits and Worker Comp. A statement like that is exactly WHY the Teamsters don't get it and have no business trying o tell IC how to run its business. And just when you think a new poser may make some sense......

To Boonie, Fly and all the other insiders who claim to know it all. This company has failed because of the poor management from CBC to IBC. I'm a college educated 12-hour a day driver. I work for an idiot with a high school diploma that bullcraps his way to the other management. It's a good ol boys club. My route did $400,000 last year. I made $60,000. Figure about $40,000 for my expenses and where is the other $300,000? It's line in the pockets of uncaring, do-nothing management. The problems with IBC are traced back to CBC and Charles Sullivan. He and his good ol boys network of greed and selfishness ruined several companies. This company can never survive---with the management we have. So go write somebody up and continue to harm your own employees while you sip an iced coffee. But what goes around comes around. And I DON'T have any inside info. But I do believe it's about to come around.....

To clarify: Southeast as in Georgia, Tennesee, the Carolina's, Florida, etc. East Coast as in everything from Maine south. West Coast as in everything west of the Rockie Mountains. Not surprisingly, Fly, you are wrong...again. The problem with IBC is that there is one group of employees represented by ONE union who thinks that they know better than everyone else how to run a business. Irregardless of the fact that it has been proven that the current IBC delivery system is outdated, inefficient, and costly. And yes, IF IBC does not make it, blame CAN and WILL be placed squarely where it belongs: on the backs of a bunch of malcontented know-it-all assholes (like you) who carry a worthless card in their pocket identifying themselves as "Teamsters". I happened to be part of a discussion with a Teamster Local regarding TWELVE RSRs deciding that skipping stops during a holiday week was a relevant thing to do because these "Teamsters" did not think that these customers required service three times during the week. Never mind that IBC was meeting the requirements as set forth by the customer, these assholes knew better. And they had the audacity to try to sell that fact to the Company. Never mind the fact that they are EMPLOYEES and do not have decision-making authority concerning operation of the business. Never mind the fact that these "model" employees aka Teamsters, were fully aware of the fact that the customer reports WEEKLY on service. But these clowns and their business agent know how to run the Company better. Thy canno fathom the fact that Management makes decisions and employees (even those represented by the Teamsters) have an obligation to carry out those directives. And that Management decisions are not subject to negotiation or discusion with the Teamsters. Go ahead...keep trying to sell your bull shit yoou simple fuck....Teamster WILL be the reason for the demise of this company if it happens.

Wow! Whoever posted up as Boonesville, if it was not the real Boonesville, really had a bad time. Craig's central plan has always been to bring this company back to it's roots, not routes. In the meantime paying lawyers and consultants is what is putting money in the pockets of those at the top and preventing emergence. Chucky Sullivan dug the hole and now we are still paying him(despite his retirement) to dig out of it.

The Merita division has always been the bastard child for IBC. Sullivan wanted it because it was his baby. Since he is gone they have no use for it Wonder will never work in this part of the country. It should be no suprise to all the Merita employees that the plants will be sold.

Booneville, great post. I agree and see almost all of your predictions to come true. I somehow wonder why we would get rid of the Southeast, unless you mean the SE of the U.S. and not the SE as IBC knows it. Can you give one more post and explain the geography a little more? I am one of the employees that care and believe that IBC will rise to the top.

FLY, let me put this to you in a way that even your simple-minded dumb ass will understand it. For months you have been posting on this board about everything under the sun, with absolutely no fucking idea what the hell you were talking about. IBC has stated UP FRONT that they were pursuing a DUAL path...one that included IBC as a stand-alone and one that included selling off of assets to prospective buyers. No one but you, your wife Chesty, and your sister from Buffalo were spreading bull shit on this site. Everything I posted was factual information that in one manner or another, came to be. IBC IS still working on being a stand-alone, but not in its present form. IBC WILL merge, but you will observe a vastly different IBC, one that does not include East or West Coast or Southeast. IBC will shrink in size and concentrat its efforts on its most relevant and strongest areas....if you look at a map, it will cover most of the Central United States. Hopefully, since you have prayed for better than a year for the destruction of IBC, your prayers will be answered and YOU will be one of those areas that IBC dumps off to the competition and you can go work for them...if they decide they want to hire your sorry ass. As for me, this will be the last time I post as an employee of IBC. My work here is finished....it's time to move on to the next adventure. I have accepted a position with another company which I will start Monday. To all of you who have a vested interest in IBC and wish to see it succeed and prosper, I wish you the very best. Keep your heads up and don'tlet the Fly's and Chesty's of this Company drag you down to their level. Thre are a great many valuable employees of IBC...keep up the hard work, and above all, keep your mind open to change. There will be change in the future...you may not like all of it. But focus on the future and not the immediate. The change will pay off in te future in greater earning potential and opportunity. Best of luck to all of you. To the others, I'll ell you soomething that I was not permitted to say to you before....and I recently said it to a Teamster Business Agent and his malcontent stewards: Go to hell. If you disagree so much with IBC Management; if you disagree so much with the direction of this company; if you are so miserable in your job; just leave. Go. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. IBC certainly does not need you or your attitude to survive. IBC will be here long after you have gone.

The real question is just how stupid it is for their workforce to continue to validate this ship of fools by their continued presence and their labor when in fact, both virtues would be better spent at an employer with a future, period.

Most of you have long ago figured out Boonville's primary purpose here was to promote the company line and discredit the unions. There is no need for him to continue. I think he lost me when he stated the company planned to address the severe product quality issues AFTER emerging from bankruptcy when they could presumable better afford it. This is a prime example of backward thinking management. We're going to continue to sell crap until we make a profit! Brilliant!....absolutely brilliant!

I hope we get a chance to buy a route from IBC. IBC can't get the routes the product we ordered now. When they do, it is inferior quality. They would care even less if the lost sales were ours instead of theirs while our expenses go up and theirs goes down. Thats the deal I have been looking for.

no wonder we are in the position we are in. I was out of state of maine last week and went into wal-mart and another supermarket. found almost 20 pieces of produt out of bad code(not just a day out of code) come on clean it up. its bad enough we have major quality problems(which still exits). not sure if this company will survive. but i will. If it comes time to move on then will move on. instead of being a leading BAKER(which we had the potential) all IBC has ever done is be A SLEEPING GIANT. now with the ecomomy the way it is PRIVATE LABEL BREAD IS TAKING OVER. so now we are in a catch22 phase. IT WILL BE A DOWNRIGHT SHAME IF SOMEONE LIKE A BIMBO, LITTLE DEBBY, OR FLOWERS GETS THE UPPER HAND AS THEY ARE OWNER OPERATOR OUTFITS. HAVE FUN PAYING YOUR OWN EXPENSES(ALL OF THEM) OH BY THE WAY! THE LITTLE DEBBY OWNER OPERATOR HAS 3 FULL CARTS IN THE BACK ROOM OF MY WAL-MART OUT OF CODE THAT THE STORE JUST TOOK OFF THE SHELF. AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENENED THIS YEAR.

I'm sure there has been much discussion about IBC shifting to independent distributirships. You would have to be a complete idiot to even consider buying a route and becoming an independent for THIS company. Management has demonstrated a near total failure in implementing even small successful changes. About the only thing they have shown they are able to do consistently is lose money. Product quality continues to be a major problem. Yea, I would jump at the chance to run my own business promoting and selling these products AND banking on THEM continuing to remain in business. They sell their routes, stick the money in their pockets and then close their doors.........duh! Think you're going to recoup YOUR losses? Better just at least keep your money and go elsewhere. Corporate executives have become masters at leaving a company with their pockets full of your money. Think this company is any different?

I worked for ibc for 17 years[12 years in management]. I left IBC in Dec 2007. The company I work for now is buying up IBC equipment through a third party. ie... proof box, oven, donut bagger etc... It was hard for me to leave IBC but it was the right choice as most companys treat all there employees with respect and good pay. I still keep in touch with some of IBC upper managment and the outlook looks bleak. The current delivery system IBC uses is outdated and no other company uses that type of system. Then u add fuel cost and yr done. I am now an out-sider looking in and it's good for us and bad for u. I hate to see IBC go under but when u have all the issues u have it going to happen.. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "strategic buyers" are starting to show themselves....Bimbo, Sara Lee, Flowers, Little Debbie, etc. Be mindful of what you see and hear. Most of the strategic buyers are looking at the outer edges of the company...not the centeral US focal point of IBC. does this tell you anything? Also, they're not looking for new/additional employees....maybe some equipment, but not many employees......

who the heck is paying $32 in dues? its $57 a month up here! I dont know who is at fault(IBC or UNION or both) all i know is with the way the ecomomy is right now the union deserves no concessions nor the company. we gave enough 2 years ago. and if i read some of your remarks right. your union dues have nothing to do whatsoever with our penion or insurance. god you people are so fickle. please at least know what your talking about. I still question why we are still paying an extra $7 a month for the time the union was so called broke. its been over 3 years now and i will bet you they have millions in their coffers now why do we still need to pay the extra $7? on your union stub it has our regular dues and the $7 is below the dues total. I still dont see how the union can propose a one for all contract. when each union has different concerns, different product to sell, different metro locations! just a thought

This same effect, applied to humans would likewise strip away the underlying structures that allow mankind to not only stand erect but to move about earth under their own power. They are now viewed as floundering fish out of water, in dire straights and smelling like the dead!

IBC is smarter than some of its union employees. I see both teamsters and bct members blaming thier unions for "keeping them in the dark" and agreeing to concessions. IBC has no idea what they are doing and the union members think thier unions should??? IBC loves the fact that some of union people are fighting amongst our selves due to IBC's inability to run a profitable company. Any chump crying about dues should shop that dues money around to see just how much pension and medical benefits that will buy? IBC would have already taken far more concessions then we gave had it not been for the unions! People...bankruptcy changes the playing field...some of us just can't seem to understand that. I will retire next year regardless of IBC's outcome...thanks to the unions pension.....I focus all the blame for our current troubles right where it belongs....I B C!

Alexandria.......... PLEASE do drop out of your union. It will raise the average IQ of your union by several points! You're probably another of those union members who show your support by shopping at Walmart and other non-union, low wage, no benefit companies. Hell, you could probably get a job with them then you wouldn't have the union problems you seem to think are so bad. If you are so unhappy, why don't you just quit? Maybe you could even get a job as an English teacher although most of them are union. Did you ever think that perhaps the union doesn't know what the hell this company is doing or thinking. Most of management doesn't even have a clue! Try and see what your $32 monthly buys for you elsewhere when shopping for insurance and pension plans.

Interesting that Columbus posted up all the company history because it points out a lot of the problems. The biggest problem which is not highlighted was the spending spree in the 80's and 90's which resulted in almost 4 million dollars a month in interest payments. Since this debacle they have had to hire consultants, lawyers, and accountants at the cost of millions attempting to justify and nullify what they did. I have said in the past Craig give me a call and I'll right the ship but this is not what is wanted.

National Brand Recognition in the Late 1990s In the early 1990s, Interstate saw the popularity of its main product, bread, increase, as the federal government put forth new dietary guidelines. The company sought to take advantage of this new demand by decentralizing its operations, so that local facilities could run as efficiently as possible. 'With 31 bakeries across the country, you can't run a business from Kansas City,' Sullivan asserted. By the mid-1990s, this strategy had succeeded so well that Interstate was in a position to make a major acquisition. In early January 1995, the company announced an agreement to buy one of its primary competitors, the Continental Baking Company, for $330 million and 16.9 million shares of Interstate stock. Continental, owned by Ralston Purina, produced the widely popular lines of Wonder and Wonder Lite breads, as well as the snack cakes, donuts, pies, muffins, and cookies marketed under the Hostess name. As Continental's plants were located in parts of the country not yet tapped by Interstate, the company could look forward to becoming a greater national presence. Moreover, Interstate had positioned itself to become the largest player in the baking industry, with anticipated annual revenues in excess of $3 billion. Thus, despite its checkered financial history of the last several decades, Interstate appeared to be well on its way to robust health in the coming years of the 1990s. With the acquisition of Continental Baking Company, Interstate became the largest producer of wholesale bread and cake in the country. The company wasted no time taking advantage of the name value of its recently acquired brands, launching an aggressive marketing campaign in January 1996. A key part of the strategy involved airing a series of national television advertisements, including the first Wonder Bread ads in almost ten years, which employed the slogan 'Remember the Wonder.' The company also reversed Continental's ill-advised policy of shrinking the size of Hostess snack cakes, restoring them to their original sizes--in some instances even making them larger--without raising prices. This concentrated brand building resulted in 1997 sales of more than $3 billion, an increase of 11.6 percent over the previous year. During this time the company also introduced a number of new products, including fat-free Wonder and Butternut breads and Hostess Lights. The Continental purchase evoked a certain amount of apprehension, however, within the U.S. Justice Department. Wary of potential antitrust issues, the agency ordered Interstate to divest itself of one of its other holdings. The company quickly complied, agreeing to sell the Butternut Bakery in Chicago in January 1997. This sale was followed in 1998 by the removal of Weber's brand products from certain markets in southern California. The divestiture order did not stop the company's expansion entirely, however. During this same period the company broadened its holdings to include a wider range of products in certain key markets. In March 1997 the company acquired the San Francisco Bread Company, famous for its line of hearth breads, and in January 1998 it purchased the John J. Nissen Baking Company of Biddeford, Maine, thereby strengthening its position as a leading baked good supplier in the Northeast. The Nissen purchase soon was followed by other acquisitions in the region, including Drake's and the My Bread Company in New Bedford, Massachusetts. This growth allowed the company to diversify its product line, while at the same time simplifying its distribution process. With sales in 1998 once again surpassing the $3 billion mark, Interstate spent almost $100 million on new operations, including a 280,000-square-foot facility in Biddeford, Maine, one of the largest showcase bakeries in the world, and a Toledo bakery with a capacity of 250,000 loaves of bread a day. Interstate's fortunes took a sharp nose-dive in October 1998, however, when the company announced that its second quarter earnings would fall below expectations. The investment markets were not kind; on October 30 Interstate stock plunged 25 percent in just two hours, after attaining a year-long high of $34.375 only three weeks earlier. A year later the company's stock was still stranded at $22.75, far below analysts' expectations of $30. Although there were no actual buyout inquiries, the company, fearing a possible takeover, created a shareholder rights plan designed to discourage possible predators. Interstate announced another dramatic financial drop in 2000, with net earnings of $89 million, down from $126 million the year before. Organized labor troubles and rising fuel prices, along with the unexpected flooding of the Rocky Mount, North Carolina Merita baking facilities, were blamed for the decline. The company also suffered a setback of a different sort in August 2000, when a San Francisco court awarded $126 million to 18 Wonder/Hostess bakery em

With the separation of Interstate's computer business from the core baking operations, Dale Putnam, head of Interstate's bakery division, was named chief executive officer of Interstate in January 1982. Putnam moved Interstate headquarters back to Kansas City, its historical base of operations. The company then looked to focus all of its attention on baking, as well as on improvements in two areas: plant efficiency and market penetration. Although the company had already spent $100 million upgrading its manufacturing facilities in the late 1970s, it planned to continue its efforts in this area, in hopes of increasing its profitability to a level consistent with that of its two largest competitors. Despite these efforts, Interstate struggled in the early 1980s. The company was saddled with the financial consequences of DPF's failed computer business, the declining demand for white bread, its staple product, and stiff competition from other national bakers. A proposed merger with another independent baker, American Bakeries Company, never materialized, and Interstate was forced to close additional baking plants that were no longer profitable. In May 1983, Interstate closed out a four-year period of declining financial returns with a loss. The bad news continued in 1984, as Interstate racked up $4.2 million in red ink. At that time, the company appointed a new president, Robert Hatch, a veteran of General Mills, who came on board just days before Interstate's bankers demanded payment on $36 million worth of loans. In an effort to get the company out of the shadow of its computer-leasing losses, Interstate took another $21 million writeoff and cashed in its $37 million pension fund to pay off the banks. 'We're trying to put our financial house in order,' noted B.J. Hinkle, Interstate's chief financial officer, in Barron's. Termination of the pension plan, Hinkle reported, has 'given us time to slow down a little bit and evaluate our product line.' The pension plan was replaced by another retirement package. Interstate next decided to emphasize strong brand marketing, rather than relying on price to differentiate its products from those of its competitors. The company, therefore, increased its spending on advertising by two-thirds. Interstate also attempted to sell its western operations to the Good Stuff Food Company of Los Angeles for $55.1 million, but this deal ultimately was abandoned. As Interstate moved into the late 1980s, its efforts to recover appeared to be bearing fruit. Sales of white bread had stabilized, and the company also began to introduce new products, such as coffee cakes, pecan rolls, pudding pies, and a wider variety of breads. To keep manufacturing efficiency high, Interstate shut down five plants and spent $109 million to modernize 27 others. In addition, in 1986, the company also made a series of acquisitions, in the hope of filling in marketing gaps. In May, it purchased the Purity Baking Company, of Decatur, Illinois, which made Sunbeam breads, and in December, Stewart Sandwiches of Utah was brought into the Interstate fold. Stewart Sandwiches sold frozen and refrigerated products, such as roast beef and turkey sandwiches. Interstate reported $13.4 million in earnings for the year ended May 1987. Later that year, the company continued its string of acquisitions, purchasing Landshire Food Products, Inc. and Stewart of Northern California, Inc., the partner of its earlier acquisition. In addition, Interstate bought the Langedorf cake and cookie operations of the Good Stuff Food Company. Interstate's most significant financial move during 1987, however, was its withdrawal from the financial markets through a leveraged buyout. IBC Holdings Corporation (IBC) was formed to buy up all of Interstate's outstanding stock, and Interstate was taken private by its management, with the help of a group of investment banking houses, in September 1987. Following this move, Interstate parent IBC made a major acquisition, purchasing the ten bakeries of the Merita/Cotton's Bakeries division of the American Bakeries Company for $132 million. Shortly after this purchase, the president of Merita, Charles A. Sullivan, moved over to take command of IBC, becoming president and CEO. With the contribution of the new Merita unit, and its own revitalized operations, IBC's sales grew strongly in the last years of the 1980s. The company reported sales of $855 million for 1988, which rose to $1.1 billion by May 1989. In May 1991, IBC Holdings Corporation changed its name back to Interstate Bakeries Corporation, before the company once again went public, selling stock on the market in July 1991. Through this move, Interstate was able to raise $250 million to pay down its debts, which were holding down the company's profits, despite the company's increased efficiency and sales. With increased cash flow and reduced debt level, Interstate was able to decrease its expenditures on intere

in a total of 36 different plants. The company's regional strengths were in the Midwest, the West, and upstate New York. On July 25, 1969, Interstate changed its name to the Interstate Brands Corporation, to reflect the broader scope of its activities, which now included canning as well as baking. The company had become the third largest wholesale baker in America. Its best known products were the Butternut and Blue Seal bread brands, and Dolly Madison cakes, which were distributed across the country. Interstate sold its canning operation in 1974 and resumed acquisition of properties that fit in with its core line of business, baking. In December of that year, Interstate bought Nolde Brothers, Inc., for $500,000. Hard Times in the 1970s Then, in 1975, Interstate became the object of an acquisition itself. The company's unwanted suitor was founded in 1961 as the Data Processing Financial and General Corporation, based in Hartsdale, New York, a suburb of White Plains, where the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) was located. Data Processing, which changed its name to DPF, Inc. in 1971, leased IBM computers to other businesses throughout the 1960s. In 1970, IBM introduced a new computer model, and DPF's equipment instantly became obsolete. The company lost $43 million over the next five years, until it finally got back on its feet in 1974 and began to look for a company to acquire that would allow it to diversify its activities, since the computer leasing field no longer seemed tenable, as IBM continued to step up its pace of new product introductions. In 1975, DPF decided that Interstate Brands would be a good business to buy. 'We wanted a sober, solid, low-technology business,' DPF's chairman later told Forbes. In June, DPF offered to buy 43 percent of the outstanding shares of Interstate. Immediately, the baker sued to block the acquisition, but its request was denied. Interstate Brands then, in turn, announced that it would purchase Farmbest Foods, a dairy products processor, from Philadelphia-based I.U. International Corporation. Interstate planned to issue a block of 375,000 shares of common stock to purchase Farmbest, which would have reduced the amount of stock DPF could control to only 37 percent of the total outstanding shares. DPF sued to block this move, and finally, after additional wrangling, DPF acquired Interstate for $37 million. In the wake of this purchase, Interstate's headquarters were transferred to Hartsdale, New York. The company's new owners set out to wring greater profits out of its operations by upgrading facilities. 'Almost nothing had been done here in terms of capital enhancement of the business for some years; some areas needed nothing more than a Band-Aid, while some needed major surgery,' one DPF executive told Barron's. To modernize Interstate's plants, DPF embarked on a program that saw 17 factories closed and 19 new properties purchased during the last five years of the 1970s. As part of this program, Interstate announced in 1976 that it would undertake the construction of a new $5 million bakery in Montana. The following year, the company shed the Nolde Brothers subsidiary and purchased the Silver Loaf Baking Company. Other acquisitions during this time included the Eddy Bakeries division of General Host and Mrs. Cubbison's Foods, Inc., a bread stuffing maker. On February 27, 1979, DPF fully completed its merger with Interstate. Two years later, the acquiring firm sold what was left of its computer operations to a group of former managers and changed the entire company's name to Interstate Bakeries Corporation. Although Interstate earned a $50 million tax break from the collapse of the computer outfit, ultimately, the bakery operations were left with a heavy financial burden to bear. By the start of the 1980s, Interstate was operating 36 different plants, selling bread and cakes in 30 different markets. Seventy percent of the company's revenues came from bread, with 30 percent derived from cakes. Although sales of white bread had grown stagnant, as people became more health conscious, sales of variety breads, such as Interstate's Pritikin diet bread and Sun-Maid raisin bread, which carried a higher price tag and had a longer shelf life, had benefited from this trend. In addition, Interstate looked to benefit from the general recession gripping the economy, since a poor economy, paradoxically, meant good news for bakers. As one Interstate executive explained to Barron's, 'Downturns in the economy always see people eating more bread than they might otherwise do.' Interstate's cake business, which was supported through heavy advertising, offered higher profits than its bread sales and also was relatively immune from the effects of a poor economy, since, some analysts noted, people tended to keep treating themselves to sweets when they could not afford more expensive luxuries. So Who is it Boonville?Key Dates: 1930: Interstate Baking Company is formed in Kansas City, Missouri. 1937: Interstate merges with Schulze Baking Company, Inc. 1943: Interstate purchases Supreme Baking Company of Los Angeles. 1954: Interstate acquires Ambrosia, Remar, and Butter Cream Cake Companies. 1969: Interstate changes name to Interstate Brands Corporation. 1975: DPF acquires Interstate Brands. 1981: Interstate Brands becomes Interstate Bakeries Corporation. 1987: IBC Holdings Corporation is formed; Interstate becomes private company. 1991: IBC Holdings becomes Interstate Bakeries again, goes public. 1995: Interstate acquires Continental Baking Company. Company History: Interstate Bakeries Corporation is the largest independent baker in the United States, producing breads and cakes in more than 60 bakeries across the country. The company distributes its products under a wide range of brand names, including Sunbeam, Dolly Madison, Wonder, and Hostess. Founded in the 1930s, the company grew by acquiring other regional and national bakers. In the late 1970s, it was purchased by a failing computer leasing firm, whose financial difficulties troubled the company well into the 1980s. By the start of the 1990s, however, after more than a decade of modernization, Interstate had recovered to take the lead in its industry by buying out its largest competitor. Origins and Expansion: 1930s-40s Interstate, a company based in Kansas City, Missouri, was founded in 1930 by baker Ralph Leroy Nafziger. Nafziger came from a family of bakers, and he produced wholesale bread loaves packaged in a distinctive country-gingham wrapper, which were resold in grocery stores. Seven years after its incorporation, Interstate merged with another, much better established Kansas City baker, the Schulze Baking Company, Inc., which had been founded in 1893. This move was the first of a series of acquisitions and mergers that Interstate undertook over the course of the next several decades, as the bread baking industry changed from a highly fragmented field, made up of a large number of small, independent, local operations, to a more consolidated industry, with a few big producers of national brands. Interstate's next acquisition came at the end of 1943, when the company bought the Supreme Baking Company of Los Angeles, whose plant it had previously rented. Seven years later, the company also bought the O'Rourke Baking Company of Buffalo, New York. With the purchases, Interstate sought to extend its geographic coverage into new areas. The Postwar Cake Boom Interstate's growth through acquisitions remained steady throughout the 1950s. In 1951, the company bought Mrs. Karl's Bakeries, located in Milwaukee. Three years later, the company moved aggressively into the cake baking industry, purchasing the Ambrosia Cake Company, the Remar Baking Company, and the Butter Cream Baking Company. Four years later, Interstate also acquired the Campbell-Sell Baking Company, based in Denver, Colorado. At the end of the decade, Interstate added to its cake franchise when it purchased the Kingston Cake Bakery, in Kingston, Pennsylvania. In 1960, the company strengthened its standing in the Midwest when it acquired Cobb's Sunlit Bakery, of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Over the next two years, Interstate purchased the Schall Tasty Baking Company of Traverse City, Michigan, and the Sweetheart Bread Company. Other important acquisitions during the 1960s included Hart's Bakeries, Inc. After its long period of steady expansion, Interstate also undertook a consolidation of its operations, closing some plants. The company's Buffalo bakery, once owned by O'Rourke's Baking Company, was sold. In addition, Interstate closed its Butter Cream Baking Company plant and its Schall Tasty Baking Company factory. At the end of that year, the company's net sales reached $191 million, up from $124 million in 1959, through a period of steady growth. Interstate began to expand again in the late 1960s. In March 1968, the company bought the Millbrook bread division of the National Biscuit Company. This division included seven bakeries, located in upstate New York, which produced bread, rolls, cakes, and doughnuts for distribution throughout the region. In addition, Interstate took possession of a fleet of about 700 delivery vehicles in the acquisition. This brought Interstate's overall total of motor delivery trucks to about 4,000. In August 1968, Interstate moved outside the baking industry for the first time, acquiring a food processor, the Baker Canning Company, and its subsidiaries, Shawano Farms, Inc. and the Shawano Canning Company, companies that canned peas, beans, and corn at three canneries in Wisconsin. Its products were sold mainly to institutions and were distributed through six warehouse facilities. Oh come on.....very few sales increases are the result of the sales rep doing a exceptional job. most of our displays are sold at the buyers and account exec level and we have to follow through on those programs regardless of the price or item. At this bakery the stale percentage goal is 8% and when you are competing with private label, a 4.00 loaf of bread is not going to sell. Most of the grocery stores are using our ad items for comparison shopping. If we have a promo for 2/5 they will sell their PL at 3/5 and set up their display right next to yours effectively killing off any incremental increases. In this economy as a consumer what would you buy? California is a bit different from the rest of the country in pricing. Orowheat is closing in on a 5.00 loaf of bread and the other companies are soon to follow suit. instead of raising prices we as a company need to look at how we can sell more product and lower our returns. Their is a profitable line of demarcation. Employees are a companies number 1 asset and I do believe that not only our company but many companies across the nation has forgotten this.As a company you want quality people working for you and to insure that you can attract these candidates you must provide a valuable pay and benefit package, if not then you suffer. Pay and benefits have gone backwards these last 5 years and it was not the employees fault much to managements dismay. Most of the bankruptcy proceedings were the fault of that wonderful severence package to Sullivan which brought on huge volume of lawsuits regarding non disclosure of company earnings so select management could dump their stock.

I really get a kick out of all you posters who bashed Boonville, but miss him so much when he's gone. I can tell you that most of what he's posted has been true. The bottom line now is that the company continues to burn cash and it's looking more and more like selling pieces to competitors will be the best option. Whether these buyers take the union contracts depends whether the company (or the potential buyers) are able to achieve further modifications, including path-to-market and health benefit adjustments.

How much $ did Alverez and group walk away with. Should of stayed in school like my folks told me.

with all the law suits going on i see why a company has to file for bankruptcies. If people would actually get off their backsides and start working and quit complaining more sales would be generated.. I know the location im in we have a couple of lazy salesmen that should not be on a route. But with the spinelessness of leadership these employees can get away with whatever they want to, for instance we have a salesman giving up opportunities to flowers because he claims he dont need or doesn't want the extra money.

Wet dreams are more like it and it's just about time to change the sheets once more and bring in a new turkey to replace JUNG. no wonder this company is so screwed up. EXAMPLE: IT WAS RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT SOME OUT PURCHASED PRODUCT WAS PRICED WRONG. FOR OVER A YEAR NOW SOME PRODUCT WAS PRICED $.01 THATS RIGHT ONE PENNY OVER COST. SO HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF POTENTIAL PROFIT HAS EXCAPED THIS OUTFIT. SO INSTEAD OF EXPLAINING IN CALLING OR A LETTER ibc DECIDED TO CHARGE $2.00 A PACKAGE PRICE INCREASE. AND WHO DO YOU THINK Takes the brunt of the insults and complaining?(WEdo! the salesmen) what an outfit! i only wish we could find out how much money was lost at the mistake in wholesale pricing at just that one kind of product. if i wasa gambling man i just bet thousands. At least thru summer we now here have a regional brand EDLP special in one super chain so should be able to make some money. quality is a major (or should say lack of quality) issue. who the hell is baking the bakers INN. its been garbage all week.

I often visit this sight when I want to be amused by wit and humor while I read comments posted by those who constantly bash management. I have witnessed what I feel is a great “example” of management looking out for the welfare of others. A few months ago the General Manager at the Rocky Mt. bakery was, how do you say…..FIRED!! The reason was due to the poor quality of the product that was being produced. A new person was brought in from outside the company and given the title Plant Manager. You will be delighted to hear that the very first day on the job she immediately took down all of the signs that were reserved for the Department heads in the parking lot. The second thing she did was paint all new lines for the parking spaces. It was now a free for all….who ever gets to the bakery first gets the best parking spaces. Those evil department heads can park like everybody else!! The next order of business was to close the large break room where 50% of the office employees and, I’m not sure the percent of inside workers, went to smoke and eat their lunch. They were banished to the small break room on the far side of the bakery that can only be reached after you put on a hair net and walk through the bakery. Quite a stroll to say the least! Most of these folks, in an effort to save body energy and the few minutes they are allotted time to eat and or smoke, simply went outside to their vehicles to eat their lunch or have a smoke. The Plant Manager decided this was unacceptable that these employees would go outside and smoke in their car or even worse, eat their lunch in their vehicle. She was even observed by many as she would stroll the parking lot looking for those standing outside their car smoking…THOSE EVIL SMOKERS!! She has now posted a new rule and it states that “anyone caught eating their lunch or even smoking in THEIR car can be TERMINATED.” These folks no longer can choose between their personal vehicle or the break room on the far side of the bakery…..THEY MUST NOW GO TO THE BREAK ROOM. The parking lot is OFF LIMITS. Department Heads are no longer called Department Heads….their new title is TEAM LEADERS. Employees are no longer employees they are now TEAM MEMBERS. So there you have it…no….. not Path to Market…….Path to Far Break Room. And all the other Team Members in the bakery have been saved from those EVIL people who go to their cars to eat and SMOKE!! God Save the Queen!!!

I just think with the way the economy is right NOW. we need and i mean (workers) every penny to make our own ends meet. NO CONCESSIONS. WE GAVE OVER $65 A WEEK LAST CONTRACT. THE FACT THE UNION HAS KEPT US IN THE DARK (I BELIEVE) IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF. THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE WRITTENAND SAID THEY RATHER SEE IBC LIQUIDATE THAN WORK WITH CURRENT IBC AND THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER TEAMSTERS COME UP WITH THIS STUPID PROPOSAL WITH CURRENT IBC INTACT. on a brighter note at least not a lot of name calling on this site lately. does anyone know if this company ever washes their bread trays. i am surprised we get away with such dirty rotten trays!

Hey Roger, The H.R. lady at the bakery told me the start up is going to be late cause they got to hire over 100 people, but she is hiring people to start 1 Sept at full time. The benefits are really good; they got a 401K that puts 18% of your average weekly pay at no cost into your 40IK. They also got health care with an option to not take it in return for cash.

Dear LA Hostess dick: I've been a teamster longer than you have. I've served the company and always exceeded route average selling cake. At 61 my knees are shot and I can't retire yet. The union has turned a blind eye here in New York, instead opting to add more people instead of taking care of the people that got them where they are today. I've done more than my share and I'm not a loser. That title is reserved for all these great business agents that steal our money. PS, dickhead. I hope you fall off the edge.

It is going to be down hill forever

You have limited opportunites to find employment right now. Even if a white knight comes into and buys up IBC they will need to take concessions since the cost structure will be even worse with new debt. No profit no chance! Does all this really solve anything? Does it make us look any better than the groups listed above? Get off your whining and make something happen. Look beyond your own issues and create for the good of all.

Union, we have a union? For what? So they can take our dues and do what for us? When we're hurt, do they supplement our income? No, not on your life. We have business agents that drive around in new cars and 'meet' with people all day. How old is your car? And who's paying for the gas? They just keep signing up more and more people to pay dues. What is that to us? Nothing. They're bloodsucking us as bad as IBC. If the company folds tomorrow (or in September which is likely), they all still have jobs and shrug their shoulders. 'Oh well, we tried'. I've been with the Teamsters for sixteen years. Put the so-called union where the sun don't shine.

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY UPS AND DOWNS WITH THE COMPANY , BUT TO TELL THE TRUTH , IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS WHIN AND BITCH THEN , I SAY YOU SHOULD MOVE ON , AND LET THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE ABOUT THIS COMPANY GET ON WITH GETTING THINGS BACK ON TRACK .

Hey Shipping manager GENE.... Whats up with ART CONRAD ? Why do you allow him to dictate to you that he needs 6 days of work (70+ hours) to make his house payment.? I think they call it favortism. When are you going to get a backbone and tell him what time it is? Maybe you should treat everyone here the same. By the way. Why didn't Willie get written up for ripping a door off a truck? Is that a little more favortism? I can't believe you idots get away with that kinda crap. So, your about to lose one of your better foremen to Bimbo. Good for him. And in closing, FUCK YOU BRIAN HOWELL. Why don't you make your boys in shipping and transport do the jobs they're supposed do? Your a piece of shit too.

If it walks like a snitch...
And if it quacks like a snitch...
It's probably is a snitch!!!
I'll try not to mention any names, however, this sounds just like bachman! Has the focus drawn upon others so he may get away with his agenda. You never know... What we do know and the fact is, we have a snitch in Sacramento.
In my neighborhood SNITCHES are not very well respected by both law enforcement and their peers.
--BTW-- Since YOU'RE playing Overtime Reduction Police, I get to wear the Grammar, Spelling and Proper English BADGE and be the Language Snitch/Police!!!
The correct contraction for YOU ARE is YOU'RE! Not, your. And YOUR spelling sucks! :-)
I realize YOU'RE a baker, however, this is junior high school spelling and English.
Maybe YOU'RE just a DOUGHROOM DUMMY in DISGUISE!!!!!
Hey!!!! Sounds like a new title for the Wonder Bread theme song!
Now STFU and go get me a beer, Sookie!
Russian translation for Sookie equals bitch! Have a WONDER full day> :-)~

Comment: There is plenty of trouble ahead for American labor, folks! IBC is going to look like a cake-walk in comparison to what's been coming down the pipeline this last year or so. You can forget about the current pricing problems with gasoline because the middle of this summer it's all going to be about a shortage crisis. And, while Obama and McCain fight it out over who wins or loses their race, America is going to come to a stand-still. Corporate greed, graft and corruption is coming to roost in America. Working class citizens like you and I, are going to get the bill for letting these assholes put us in harms way. It's time to close our ranks and to hunker-down for the pending financial storm of the century, where only the strong and the well-prepared will survive.

A couple of years back, Macy's dept. stores anounced they were buying Robinson's/May Co. There was an announcement in the papers, they said all stores will become Macy's . They published a list of stores stating which one will be merging, which ones will be converted, which ones will be closed etc., etc., All was compleated in a mater of months. Why has it taken IBC this long to take any action. They were in trouble several years before the anounced bankruptcy and been in bankrupcy for close to four years. My daughter has compleated four years of high school and will be graduating this year. I've have been going to work day after day, week after week not knowing what my future holds in store for me. How many CEO's and top managers have we gone through trying to be a successful Co. Come On, lets make some decisions and get this thing moving.

Boonville, like I told you before: the only reason they take this long is because they are breaking up the company to sell in pieces. Bread routes can be saved but only if they are converted into independents either before or after the sale.

Yes the cake side has many suiters. One is interested national rest only want regions. Most cake rt's will be saved. (over 85% thne way it looks now) This is the only profitable side of IBC. Bread how ever will be a fire sale. The interested parties only want to have the right to regional brands. They aren only interested in certain bakeries. Very few! Most will become rusty old relecs. Most bread routes will be lost. (over 75%) from the way it looks now.

Phatass do it every week. 11,000 makes for nice pay. Funny thing is they cut my route a year and a half ago because at that time 12,000 was considered "unmanageable". I can post and paste figures if you disbelieve. I enjoy every price increase including the one coming next week because it adds to my pay.If you can sell then you can make money.

I am An EX employee of IBC. I was visting Northern Ca. the last few months. I saw many Bakery Drivers while I was there. I must say they have way to many people working and not running a route. They have such a small share of the market there. I spent more than 30 years giving my all to IBC or CBC and never have seen this kind of waste of Manpower. There was always waste in production but never this kind of waste in manpower in sales. A friend of mine says they want to cut his pay again but not the extra help being wasted. He also says the District Managers are the Employees with the least amount of time with the company because no one else would take the jobs because that position is no longer a union job. It shows the lack of sales in this area of the country is why IBC. is in trouble. Most of California is a very stong market compared to most of the U.S. I Wonder how they could blow such a good thing!

Comment: I've said it earlier and I'll say it again, folks! The fact that IBC is holding back from throwing out their unions is both significant and telling. I smell a number of rats in high places and in on-going backroom deals that would make Hitler blush. Intense greed, graft and corruption are behind this company and it's shortsighted team of Idiots. The only emerging to take place here, will be at the end of an oceanic sewer line.

Raider Rick OBAMA, He promises change. But, there is no democracy here. We work under the comunist dicatatorship of Gene HUESSEIN and Ryan OODAY. As long as R.O keeps G.H's ball sack wet and warm. R.R.O doesn't stand a chance. By the way, good move Ed Wheat, you'll be much happier where you are now. And a good choice in Antonio as the foreman, Gene,he's got more meat on his butt than Maria. Getting back to Raider Rick Obama. You would be better off not trying to make change, they will just find a way to break you down too. The only thing you should change is : You Should bump Ryan Ooday and take his day shift. Sorry, that wouldn't work. They only need one hostler in the morning......Really Rick, how many guys before you wanted to make changes? And what happened to them? Your commrads laughed at them and nothing happened. Thats why this place is still a joke...................

Just checked the interstatesfuture website for any news, reread Jung`s " We`re out of time" memo dated Oct 07. How can this go on? Why do IBC`s creditors stand for it? They`ve lost over 100mil. in the past 6 months. There has to be something crooked here, highly paid people cannot be this stupid.

You WILL be looking for a job sooner than you think. You were picked for Hostler because Ryan thinks you are a dumbshit that wont threaten him to take day shift. You have been there longer than Ryan and say you have a lot to learn? How long does it take to learn to move trucks and put racks with simple to read tags on them. The depots are the same ones since you started. There is nothing to learn. You are the same level as Ed Wheat and Antonio.

Comment: It's really comical to come to this site and find what some would refer to as a train wreck in the making. Comical in the sense that everyone riding this train is each expecting to arrive at a somewhat distant place where all their expectations and needs in their respective lives will be met. And, as long as they can keep the train moving, they can live forever. Walt Disney built such a place in Calfornia during the 1950's called Disneyland and it's still open for business today! The only difference between the two, is the fact that Disney built his world with love and creation whereby IBC is using smoke and mirrors in an attempt to sustain their's!

I read these comments about people being written up, etc and what a f**k'n joke. If management wasn't so hung up on trying to impress their superiors, they could go after the competition. Why don't you write them up? Management in this company is riddled with losers. C-U in September.

Boonville, I used to come to this site for information, but that is not the case anymore.. We (teamsters) hear things from our locals. We post them on here and you seem to take whatever we say and twist it or deny it in the companys favor. So, just get out from under jungs desk and tell us what you actually hear. Be a man and quit twisting the news.

And, by the way. Chad getting written up for leaving those Reno racks off the truck is bullshit. Why didn't pukeface Gene go after the guys that are really responsible. "the guy who wanted narrow racks(with no product) to go to Reno. The loader did what he was told. If the transport fore what come down off his pedestal and comunicate with the shipping foreman, there would have been no mistakes. SO "GENE" WHY DON'T YOU HOLD THE CORRECT PARTIES RESPONSIBLE? Are your balls so far down somebodys throat that you can't see straight?

Raider Rick: This is how it is. You are a glorified hostler and Ryan will treat you like one. Unless you do an exellent job at licking his and Gene's nut sack. Get a clue. With the way shipping and transport are run there will always be problems. There is a power struggle going on up there and its every man for himself. GET REAL. Also, there is NOT a lot to learn in that foreman position, because if the foremen actually did what their job description says. You would find time to drive and keep the wheels of transport spinning. We all know that most of the duties that RYAN has taken on,are actually SHIPPING MANAGERS duties. They suffer from a lack of knowledge in that area and the "kissass, ball licking and favortism" will continue until you and everyone get sick and tired of it. I really think that this place will SHUT DOWN before that day comes. Rick, you are wasting your time if you really think you can make a difference. Unless you lick a better ass than Ryan..........Get a clue, the writing is on the wall.
