Biddeford is a logistics problem. The fact that it is, "state of the art" ,compared to Wayne or Jamaica doesn't make up for the fact that it has problems. The plant was part of the J.J. Tastykake (TSTY) out of Philadelphia holds a 70 market share in Philly, Jersey and Delaware. Thye absolutely kill us in this market, yet if you look at the company they are in trouble. They have no cash on the books and are saddled with. Also, their drivers are all owner operators. The company has none of the expenses; healthcare, pension, truck, gas, etc. etc. and they still aren't making it. Their market cap is down to 40 million and the future for them doesn't look all that bright. Face it. The sweet baked goods category is in decline and it will continue. Increased competition, private label, in-store bakeries, changing consumer eating habits have all lead to the decline of Tastykake and Hostess brands. If Tastykake can't make it, with it's owner operator model, then how is Hostess ever gonna make it with all of the added expense that Tastykake (TSTY) doesn't have. It looks to me that Tastykake may soon follow us into BK. Any thoughts or comments?
