You guys don't get it. The RSR really doesn't have that much control over the route volume. If you do your job on a daily basis your sales are pretty much maximized. Volume is controlled by route structure. If you are one of the boys you get taken care of regardless of the job you do. And to set the record straight on this also....we do not get a raise everytime the company raises prices. Each price increase decreases units and unit volume is the true marker of performance.

I thought about posting a positive comment, but after reading the board decided to stay clear. The filth posted leads me to believe that you are imposters trying to sabatoge the site. If you have complaints against the company, or management, please bring them forth in a way that is open for argument and debate....rather than taking the lowest denominator approach by using slang language.

He’s right. Jung is not about rewarding performance; he’s about rewarding people he views were loyal to him. I guess, in a warped way, he considers anyone that didn’t get fired or bailed-out of IBC to be loyal. But, yes, the raises are coming to management. Some of the lower level managers have not received a raise since IBC entered bankruptcy. Although, some bonus retainers were paid with the blessing of the BK court.

INn the know said that all management and supervisors were going to get apay raise when we come out of bankruptcy.here is a company that is losing 10 to 12 million a month .while the backbone of the company have to take a pay cut.[ route people ] we are the ones working in the cold snow rain. Yes I work hard and take up most of the slack from the employees that have already recieved their walking papers.You RSR's can make the money back if you sell more you make more. My pay is back down to what it was in the 90's.Damn my children make more an hour than I do, they have been in the workforce about 5 yrs. compare it to my 20 yrs. here.The only reason we stay neck and neck on weekly pay checks is they pay lots for health care benes.( have you checked out what your friends and family are paying ?) Dear 'Cat out of the bag'. I've been with IBC (and CBC) for 20 years. You want to think positive? I'm positive Charles Johnson banged this company and began the downward spiral. I'm positive nearly 100% of my management currently, and over the years, has nothing more than a high school education. When you mention 'marketing' to them, they think you're going shopping. I'm positive every CEO after Johnson raped the company. I'm positive if this company tossed the Teamsters and went Independent, no jobs would be lost. Too late now. On Thursday (1/29/09) our depot recieved some very important visitors,two V.P's from Kanas City and a Ripplewood Rep. The meeting went very well, I think EVERYONE left with a good feeling. What I took away from the meeting was that everyone there wants the same things, to stay in business, to make a profit, and everyone there seemed to want to commuicate and bounce off each others ideas. I am very low level management and they ask me what I thought--1st time ever (I've been employed here for 20 yrs.), so just maybe things can change. And for all you negitive poster on this site, how can you make any comments without meeting the investers and speaking with them and seeing were their coming from ???? Since this site is closing, I am going to make one final post targeted at the idiot management who defend IBC's actions on this site. I have stated in the past, that I can (and do) keep the majority of cash from the route and that is untraceable. As I explained in earlier posts, I do NOT take ANY product from IBC in any way. I do not take product from the thrift store or from another route truck. I do NOT cut product from my load because that would raise a red flag. It is strictly a function of the HHC which is undetectable by ANY of the management team. I believe it was Booneville who stated they would figure it out when in fact, our depot was audited AGAIN by security and the only irregularities they discovered were on other routes. I am leaving IBC soon to go to a competitor and have passed the information on to a couple other rsr's who have now been doing the same thing for a couple months with no problems. By the way, these are real IBC accounts which are also served by skippers or management when I go on vacation. (Their routes were audited as well) PS, I am not really from Kansas City. As a result of my previous posts, I think IBC is investigating vigorously but they are looking for a complicated system but it is so simple they will never find it. IF they figured it out, they still can never prove it but could stop it company wide instantly. GOOD LUCK to all of you who choose to stay with IBC !!

If quality had never been an issue to begin with, would we have spent four years in bankruptcy? Is it possible to fill the bags up with enough bread so they look good on the shelf? Can we have our crust attached to the bread or is it removed as a convenience to the customer? It seemed the more we complained the worst the quality got, and of course, we were told to stop making excuses. Stealing and wasting are 2 big reasons this company is losing so much money and why the future may not be as good as we hope. I know from witnessing first hand that SOME people who run routes steal and throw away a lot of product. I have seen people cut product from their loads (using Load Adjust or Claim Adjust on their handhelds) and take the product home, trade it for food at restaurants or just throw the product away. This company must find a way to better track and inventory its products if it wants to be profitable in the future. To be fair: I don't think all of this is the drivers fault (except for the stealing). Some route people are not given good enough training, support and help from management or good and reasonable solutions to having too much inventory at the end of Tuesday and Saturdays. Many times they just don’t know what to do except to make sure their inventory is zero. Many times management will add extra product to routes with not much more instruction than put it in your stores and keep your stales below 7%. Some route people are working 12, 13, 14, 15 hours a day. Fatigue is another problem for the route person in making good orders. Management and route people don’t communicate or listen to each other very well. Management doesn’t listen to their route people and route people just don't seem to care so they tend not to listen. This company has excellent products, with a great history and hopefully a great future. We need to fix these problems together.

The fresh bread market has gotten a lot more interesting in the last few months. Grupo Bimbo (GRBMF.PK) recently announced the acquisition of George Weston Bakeries. Grupo Bimbo (a Mexican company) owns the leading West Coast brand Oroweat, along with Mrs. Baird's. George Weston brands include Entenmann's,Thomas English Muffins and fresh bagels, Arnold,Brownberry and Stroehmanns breads. The purchase by Grupo Bimbo is a reunification of the Bestfood Baking brands that were sold and split up in 2002. The combined company will provide the first truly national footprint for premium bread and baked goods. This is important as it will provide them greater access to key feature ads at mass merchandisers like Walmart (WMT), Target (TGT) and Costco (COST). This will in effect turn up the heat vs. their key competitors like Sara Lee (SLE), Flowers Foods (FLO) and Pepperidge Farm - a division of Campbell Soup (CPB). In addition, Interstate Bakeries (IBCIQ.PK) (owner of Wonder, Home Pride and Hostess brands) continues to work on financing for exiting bankruptcy. Interstate Bakeries was to have received additional funding from several firms including GE Capital and Ripplewood holdings. This, along with concessions from the Teamsters, was the main plan for turning IBC around and improving sales and profitability. IBC recently announced that 4th quarter operating loss increased to $41mm perhaps casting a doubt on its ability to exit bankruptcy. Interstate's attempts to turnaround their struggling business so far have proven unsuccessful. Lastly, the decline in grain prices and the steep drop in gasoline prices bodes well for bakers. These two commodities make up a large percentage of all baking companies' P&Ls. Flour is obviously the chief ingredient in sliced breads, and gasoline and route costs are one of the key cost components for distribution of fresh bread. Most fresh bread companies operate utilizing an independent operator system where the cost of gas is paid by the independent operator. As gasoline has increased, there has been increased costs with bread manufacturers subsidizing their Independent Operators to keep them servicing their customers on a regular basis. This additional fuel charge has now gone away. As a result, baking companies' margins are projected to improve over the next few months. Of course, the flip side is consumers are more price sensitive than ever. So what does all this mean? Look for Grupo Bimbo to consolidate its premium breads under the Oroweat brand name for national distribution. Flowers will look to respond with further geographic expansion and possible additional acquisitions. IBC's situation is still the big unknown but bet on more poor operating results or a possible combination. Sara Lee will also likely be forced to make a move. With continued consolidation occurring in the industry, don't bet on significantly lower bread prices for the consumer, even with lower commodity costs and a recessionary environment.
